I found this spa after some time of searching for the right place. My goal was to come out feeling better than when I came in. I had Kayla for a body scrub and Joe for a hot stone therapeutic massage and it was the most amazing experience I've ever had in a spa. From walking in everyone is so kind and welcoming and attentive. The space is very clean and also smells clean which is very important in my opinion. The body scrub was so relaxing and flowed every well. The shower after was so nice and the bathroom space was so beautiful. They were kind enough allow me a few moments in the sauna complementary while I waited for my massage. The massage was very relaxing and my body pains really got worked out. I loved how during each service the lights were very dim and the most relaxing music was playing. I loved everything about the services and very much appreciated that Kayla and Joe took their time and didn't rush through the therapies. I really did walk out feeling like a new person and I will definitely being coming back as a regular. Just had a prenatal massage earlier today with Nora. I left feeling amazing!!! I briefly told her any issues I had during pregnancy and she was able to address all my pain locations. She even taught me exercises to help strengthen some muscles for childbirth. Nora was very informative and knowledgeable which was an excellent touch to the already AMAZING massagr she was providing. I've come here for a massage and facial and they ask about any aches, pains and allergies so that they can adjust accordingly. I've been to a bunch of places and have to say this has been the best of them. It's a little on the pricey side but definitely worth it! They don't rush through the service and take their time. This is a beautiful spa. The ambience is serene and full of powerful healing energy. They do nails, massage, and facials. There is also a wonderful dry sauna with raindrop shower for private use. I got a poultice massage with Esther one day and it was incredible. Esther was so attentive, giving, and loving, and it was like she just knew me, she knew what I needed to heal at that time. The poultices were filled with herbs that I got to take home - and I still use them, even a month later! They remind me of my session at Ascend and I just get transported back to that experience all over again with the scent of that lavender. I also got a facial. They use all organic products from the lovely Eminence which is an all plant and fruit based skin care from Hungary. So lovely! I feel so good and light after my facials at Ascend. And then let's not forget the best part of the spa - Patrick the receptionist! The minute I spoke to him on the phone I felt so comfortable and taken care of. Every time I call in I get an appointment and I never feel pressure or anxiety at all, especially because it is already so hard to choose to give to yourself and treat yourself in this way. Even during Spa Week when it was so busy, I had no problem getting in a session and though there was so many appointment going on, Patrick nor any of the therapists panic or rush AT ALL. It was very humbling to see that. It's like everybody and everything at Ascend seems to just remain calm. This is really the best spa in New York. Iused to work at a very nice spa in Manhattan a few years ago but Ascend's ambience is so well kept by the healers that work there that I will say confidently, this is truly the epitome of what a spa experience should be like. This is a great day spa tucked away in Kew Gardens and I love it. I've been coming here since 2011 when I first moved to the neighborhood. I've only ever had massages here so I can't comment on their other services. I often do same day appointments, simply because when I decide I want a massage I can't wait, lol. They accommodate me when they can which is really great. Ever since the renovation they had the spa environment has improved tenfold. Ascend Day Spa is located on Austin Street, just off Lefferts Blvd, and within steps of the Manhattan-bound track of the LIRR station. This location near local buses and the commuter train is an absolute boon to busy professionals who need an after work pick-me-up. The spa is small, with a little (but light and airy) waiting area at the entrance and an open mani/pedi area in a large room off to the side. The service rooms are private and are softly lit which make things extremely relaxing. I've gone to Ascend for several Fire and Ice facials and one or two others that I don't recall the names of. I don't know what makes one type of facial different from the others because they all have the same cleanse/steam/extract/massage/mask pattern with neck and shoulder rubs and I've always fallen asleep after the extractions. But I guess the fact that I feel so comfortable and relaxed that I fall asleep after someone spends a good 5 minutes poking, prodding, and squeezing my face is a good thing. The results have always been the same, too: a vibrant glow, clear pores, and a floaty feeling that lasts for the rest of the day. Since the spa is right below a private residence there are the occasional sounds (dropping, hammering) from above that can dull the mood a bit and it is right next to the LIRR station. While the screeching brakes from local lines pulling into the station don't really impact the calm, the occasional blaring air horn of the double-decker diesel express can (and did for me) snap a relaxing soul out of a neither-here-nor-there state. read more

My mom got my a gift certificate to Spa Wish, and when I looked at the local spas that accepted the certificate. Ascend Day Spa would, and their website was nice. I received a call, asking me if I would mind moving my appointment to an hour earlier or an hour later in order to accommodate a couples massage. No problem, I had nothing else planned. Then I was kept on the phone for a bit while they looked up my account. Apparently, I had no credit card on the account - I wasn't asked for one. They requested my credit card to hold my appointment. I thought it was a little irritating that they called me to ask me to move my appointment, and then requested info in order to hold it. I arrived a few minutes early to my appointment (good spa etiquette!). The place was pretty, and I had magazines to read - but despite a few people walking by - no one greeted me for a few minutes. There was no place to hang my coat or scarf or even anyone to tell I was there. The music was kind of Lite AM office music. Finally, someone came by and asked my name. They then walked out. Then someone else came in and asked if I was checked in. Then, my masseur (masseuse?) came out and shook my hand. The room was nice, but the same music was playing, loudly. All of a sudden I realized how appropriate, though silly, the ambient music is. I miss bird sounds or harps or whatever. He briefly points to the table, tells me where to put my head and then points to a spot on the floor by the sliding doors and tells me to put my stuff there. No changing table or even a shelf to put my stuff. And instead of some complicated sheet thing on the bed, it appears to be just a bath towel. I dump all my stuff on the floor (bag, coat, scarf, shirt, bra, pants, socks) and then go to the table. I lay there, and cover myself horizontally with the bath towel, and leave my glasses on - I wasn't going to put them on the floor. It's a little cold in the room. I am lying there for about 3 minutes waiting for someone to come back. I realize how loud it is in this spa. First, there's the awful music. Then I realize that even though the walls are soundproofed, the sliding doors aren't, and there is a nail salon next door that belongs to the spa. People are walking up and down the halls, making no effort to keep their voices down. Ducky. Pablo comes into the room and I say that I wasn't sure if I was draped correctly and he laughs at me. He laughs at me! Apparently, I was draped correctly - but my head was too far up on the table. Really -is that laugh worthy? He dims the light, I give him my glasses and he starts the massage after asking if I have any injuries. The massage is okay, but I just feel so exposed. With the other massages I have had, the person made sure that whatever wasn't being worked on was covered and asked about the volume, the temperature, the pressure, etc. Nothing from Pablo. Then, it came time to flip from my back to my front. And Pablo? He just lifts up my mini towel. I am now lying there, totally naked and pretty freaked out. His eyes are covered, but I feel super exposed. It may be because it was a guy that I felt so naked, but I think my male gynecologist does a better job of making me feel comfortable. The massage continues. It's good. Not great, but hey - someone is rubbing me. Except, I am a little distracted because "Me and Mrs. Jones" is playing. Then Alicia Keyes. And people are talking in the hallway. It was just odd. Then I realize, my face is kind of smushed into a bar. Massage tables have this oval shaped opening for your face. This one had a metal bar right where your nose hits, which kind of defeats the purpose. And then, the massage was over. He announces that, and says to get dressed and he will be back in a few minutes with some water (which is the first time I am offered anything). I stand up, and not 20 seconds later, he knocks on the door. I grab the same stupid towel because I am now naked and accept the water. Thirty seconds later, he is back and gives me his business card. I feel around for wherever he put my glasses, pick my clothing up off the floor and go outside to pay. I give the girl my gift certificate and I ask what happens to the balance. She says it will stay on my account and I ask if she means the account at this spa. She says yes, and then says "What? You don't want to come back?" and pouts. I was kind of taken aback and explained that I would come back, but I was surprised about the volume in the hallways. She tells me about the soundproofing thing and says she is working on it, this section is new, to let my masseuse know next time, etc. I have a good amount left in my account, and the spa is really convenient. It's not worth fighting for the balance back, but once its gone, I wouldn't come back. Next time I will either have a facial or give the massage another shot with someone else. For me, the whole experiences was ruined due to the total lack of attention to detail. read more

Yesterday I went for a mini facial summer special. I had Carmen and she was gentle. The facial was my first in over 2 years, my skin got very sensitive and dry due to medication and Carmen made sure not to use abrasive products on my face. I love that they use organic products since I'm trying to use mostly organic stuff. I took off one star because it think they need more art on their walls. Specially the relaxation room, it needs something lively. And also because it was able to hear people walk in during my facial. Maybe because I was in the first room but other than that I was very pleased. read more

I WANT to like this place because it's steps away from home, it offers services that SOUND realy great, and it's affordable. But even at those prices, I always walk out feeling ripped off. Most of the aestheticians are personable and the receptionist, Patrick, is charming & friendly, but the actual services are performed so poorly it's just a frustrating waste of time. Recently I couldn't get an appointment ANYWHERE else in the neighborhood, and low & behold Ascend had an opening. "Yay", I thought... wrong. Although my aesthetician was very nice, the mani/pedi only lasted 2 days (I can usually get a week out of them - at least!) and the painting was poorly done. When they first opened, I got a bikini wax from Carmen who ridiculed me for not not waiting long enough between visits...sorry if my NOT wanting to be a hairy beast downstairs poses a problem for you. How about you just do your job? (And she STILL works there! Maybe she's related to the owners...) I hope management looks into more experienced aestheicians...and if Carmen's going to stay there, maybe some customer service training as well...for her, that is. read more

I regularly go to Ascend Spa for a specially tailored migraine medical massage. Tony is by far the best masseuse I have EVER had and I've tried quite a few, at different prices. He is the best kind of expert who has mastered a variety of different massage techniques and combines them to achieve the health goals that you set with him in massage sessions. The few I have experienced include acupressure (like Chinese acupuncture but using massage instead of needles), Shiatsu, Hot Stone, Swedish and Deep Tissue. Honestly, he is far more than a technician. He reminds me more of a doctor because he is intensely focused on healing and helping you make progress with you body over time. He is sensitive to you during the massage so as a woman, you feel comfortable and able to communicate whether the pressure is too much/too light. I only wish I'd found him sooner. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! Made an appointment to use a gift card given and representative kept placing me on hold. After a couple of times being placed on hold, I finally got to make an appointment. Never got a confirmation call and when I called to reschedule, due to an emergency they pull a cancellation fee script. At no point when making my appointment was a cancellation fee mentioned nor was there anything mentioned about it on the gift card nor the website !! Not only did they not want to here the reason behind my rescheduling but they were very unprofessional. A person by the name of "Trish" got on the phone and spoke over me not letting me explain anything. Not only was this person arguing with me on the phone for the fact that she didnt have my right contact information but hung up the phone on me! They can keep their gift card money!! Seems like the place wouldn't have provided good customer service anyways. I am thankful that I didn't get the chance to try this place. I have been here for 5 or 6 times and I think I've already recommended this place to all my friends. Everyone has loved it just as much as I have! I usually have my mani/pedi done with Rosalba, she is super nice and does a great job! Salon itself is very clean and relaxing, the staff is really friendly, especially Patrick!) This was my frequent day spa to get my hands & toes polished up before I moved. I've also had a facial, and purchased massages for friends. It's small inside with, very relaxing decor. The downside of it being small is they have one massage room & one facial room, both pretty small. All of the beauty technician's are personable/nice. Each time I made an appointment they scheduled me with the same lady without even asking. There is a good coffee shop next door... the LIRR stops literally right there. The pricing of services is not bad. Comparable to other "good" places in Queens. I've given tons of gift certificates over the last couple years to friends/family to go here. My only warning is a lady occasionally works the front desk whom can be a tad rude... just ignore her & the rest of your experience here will be pleasant. read more

I visited Ascend spa on 10/8/2020 to get a deep tissue massage after they reopened from COVID. Let me tell you, they are doing everything right and taking every precaution. I couldn't have felt more safe if I was in my own apartment. I have chronic pain and they are literally the best place I've found in the city. Just returned from a HydraFacial Plus with Dulce at Ascend Spa. What an awesome experience. I was greeted by Patrick at the front desk who upgraded my regular HydraFacial to the HydraFacial Plus because he wanted my first facial experience to be top notch which it certainly was. I was then escorted into the locker room to change and then brought into the room where I'd have the facial. Everything is clean, classy and very pretty. The music and ambiance in the facial room was relaxing. Dulce did an amazing job explaining the entire process every step of the way. My skin felt incredible once I left. Amazing from the moment I called for an appointment. I made the stupid mistake of not booking a massage session for 2 a head of time. So I could not find any place worth paying for and was a hole in the wall. I called Ascend and that same day they had an appointment with in 45 mins. We walked in and was well taken care of. I came here for the first time recently with my best friend for a massage for my birthday. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. First, I will highlight all of the good stuff... Location! This is just a short 7 minute drive from my apartment in Forest Hills and is conveniently located right outside the Kew Gardens LIRR Station. Ambiance! They do a nice job for an outer borough "spa" to make the space warm and welcoming. I especially liked the vibe INSIDE the massage suite. The temperature was good and they have very nice quality massage tables. Staff! The staff was very polite and the masseuses were knowledgeable and caring. They really tried to be accommodating to mine and my friends individual issues. Availability! I called the day before and was able to get two 1 hour massages in a couples suite for the next day. The only negatives would be that next time I might try a different masseuse because I feel I need more pressure. Also, its too bad the "relaxation" area isn't a bit bigger. I felt at times it was quite cramped in there. It isn't a huge spa, so they do what they can with it. It was a lovely birthday experience and I will DEFINITELY be back! read more

so I am the one who redeems my rewards from credit cards to get spa finder gift certificates (just a tip to all, they are always worth more than other brands) Anyway, wanted to try and stay local or find a place that was local so I can just walk somewhere when I want a service so I don't need a production before hand. Spa was nice and I will go back Just want to manage the expectations of everyone: If you are looking for a sophisticated spa, this is not for you. It is a local spa with good services. I feel they try to be sophisticated, but they fall short. It is OK with me, being in the service industry and their prices are in line with what you are getting. I went into my facial room ,where you can hear everything going on inside and outside the spa. It was located in the middle of the nail salon portion of the spa. This room did not have any music on which didn't help. Again, these things make a difference, but if the price and service is right they are not deal breakers. The facial was only 70$ which for NYC is definitely a good price. My facial was good, and I will go back. My mani was good, but took forever. The dryer did not work well, and I was forced to sit there for much longer than expected. I will go back because it was convenient and my facial was good. But it is not a "spa" day out... read more
