She came early and did her job well. The one star is because of the other artist who did not bring her makeup. Yes, you read that right. The makeup artist did not bring her makeup kit other than some foundation and setting spray. The experience was so poor it greatly outweighed any positives we experienced with the other artist. Rather than taking care of it herself, she went around asking two other makeup artists we hired from another company if she could use their makeup supplies. That created an uncomfortable environment because they were put in a difficult spot of rightfully not wanting to lend their professional supplies to a stranger, but also not wanting to make it a bigger scene on someone's wedding if they said no. I had to pause my own bridal makeup and hair session to try to find any makeup I had around my parent's house she could use. I think about an hour in was when she finally decided to Doordash some makeup when she should have done that the moment she realized she didn't bring her supplies. She started the first bridesmaid makeup at 7:30 and at 9:30 (which was our planned end time) she had still not finished. We moved onto the second bridesmaid's hair at 9:30 and that seemed to go a lot smoother luckily. When the Doordash order came, there was no lipstick because I guess the store was out of stock of the shade she chose. The makeup artist also did not seem to have much experience or perhaps she was so nervous that she could not do makeup the way she normally might because I heard them trying work on her eyeliner for about 20 minutes due to it repeatedly not coming out right and saw the makeup artist asking a lot of questions when most could probably be figured out just by looking at the makeup inspo picture. It was also uncomfortable that she went into detail about forgetting her makeup kit because she recently started seeing a doctor for ADHD and started new medication 1 month ago. I don't think this is something she needed to share with us. One of my bridesmaid said during her session several different TMI excuses were brought up as well. Ultimately, we left at 10:10am, 40 minutes later than planned, with one bridesmaid still unsatisfied with her makeup (we could not wait any longer) and the other bridesmaids uncomfortable with her lack of professionalism. I'm sure there were likely other things that went wrong. These are just the things I noticed as the bride who was busy getting her makeup and hair done myself. I did hear from a bridesmaid that we would not be getting charged for her services, but I did not hear this myself directly or received any communication from bfab about this experience.

When it came time to get married, and thankfully I had a 1.5 year engagement to make all these decisions, I had a few makeup artists in mind who I had worked with on other weddings that I loved, but for my own and my very diverse crowd of bridesmaids, I felt like I still hadn't found the right fit yet. As soon as I saw the photoshoot Mimi & Taylor did with our photographer, KT Merry, I was in love. Going through Mimi & Taylor's portfolio, I saw that their hairstyles were all unique and different. Even their makeup looks had a wide variety but each were done so well (from natural, glam, etc.) Being asian, it was also hard for me to find stylists who could perfect loose, soft, and romantic updo's for asian hair and Taylor and her team hit it on the spot. We worked together for the engagement photoshoot over a 3 hour session, trying out different hair styles and looks. Taylor is a great listener and completely understood exactly what I wanted - even though I was horrible at explaining it. Taylor saw a photo of my wedding dress and knew exactly what would fit perfectly with the whole look. On the wedding day, I also had Mimi & Taylor stay through the ceremony and to change my hairstyle from an updo to a downdo for a second look for reception while I scarfed down champagne and appetizers. As for my bridesmaids and the mom's, although it was also my day, I wanted to make sure they were being pampered as well. All of my bridesmaids are very different - personalities, ethnicities, hair lengths/textures - Mimi & Taylor's talent is so versatile, everyone looked stunning. More importantly, my best friends looked like themselves, even their hairstyles were unique to their own style.
