This company was difficult to communicate with. I feel that some things that could have been exceptionally simple were made more complicated... for no reason at all. All of my frustration, however, was with the over the phone conversations. Possibly this is an area your company could consider changing. The person who deals with callers didn't do a good job, and was downright offensive. Sort of blew my mind how rude she was. With all that being said... James came to our home twice and he is a gem of a person and an excellent fireplace repairman! I was impressed with his kindness and hard work. It was SO refreshing to interact with him and we are really thankful for his help! He completed the job and we found him very pleasant to work with. Overall: Fast, friendly, and efficient! Definitely glad we went with Ashbusters. The good: Our chimney sweep (?) was very friendly and gave us a lot of helpful tips. He was talkative and relatable, and told us things we needed to know (including during the inspection). Everything was straightforward, including the invoicing and payment. Everything was done in probably 1.5 hours, and that includes a small repair. The not-so-good: Not very transparent on the pricing beforehand. I booked and forgot about it, then the day-of my wife asked what it was going to be. Couldn't find out online or in my emails (I may have been able to call and get it?) Without doing price comparisons, the fixes they do are expensive, but that may just be the industry standard. read more

Was told over the phone it was $299 for inspection and cleaning. Guy was nice when he came to our house for an inspection and cleaning. He found several things wrong with our chimney. Quoted us $3700 for bare minimum fixes, but upward of $13000 to do full chimney insert. Didn't even clean it and still charged us a full $299. We got a second opinion after Ashbusters who told us our chimney has zero problems and we could use it tomorrow if we wanted. We felt scammed. Happened to a friend of ours too. I'm typically not one to easily write bad reviews, but when I feel like I'm being taken advantage of I'd rather others be aware. Sorry Ashbusters. read more

Bought a condo when I moved to mount p and needed to get the chimney swept and inspected. Saw the reviews of this place so decided to give them a call. They were very friendly and helpful and were able to give an estimate over the phone with my description of the place. The process lasted ~30ish minutes and they were very communicative and worked with me to optimize my lunch hour (gave an update on their eta to my place, explained what he was doing and didn't do any extra work that I didn't authorize first) I was very pleased with my experience and they sent a very thorough report and estimate for future work with photos! No. They came, measured my chimney cap and said they had ordered the cap, and then I never heard from them again. Several of my neighbors said the same thing happened to them. Some had similar experiences as I did. I didn't want to believe their reviews because the guys are great guys and seemed very hardworking. Sorry to give a low score but it's the way it was. I was "Very"disappointed because I had called them one year before this happened in 2019; they never returned my calls then either. Everything was very professional from the first phone call with Kim, the visit with Chris, and the final report (emailed from both Kim and Chris). We have a wood burning fireplace and wanted to be sure it was in good working order. Chris came to our home, cleaned and inspected the chimney and firebox, and gave us lots of information about ways to run and maintain our fireplace. Honestly, the information alone was worth the cost of the visit! This is the 3rd year in a row that I have tried to use my gas fireplace in the winter only to have problems. By the time Ashbusters could get anyone to my house and then order the parts and come back, it was warm weather again. 6 months I waited last year and this year, I turned the fireplace on and it turned itself off 20 minutes later and will not work at all. They tell me they have an 8 week lead time to get someone to me to fix this. I am done with them. They are the worst! read more

My wife and I had Ashbusters clean our chimney and install a new chimney cap. It took several weeks to get an appointment and we had to reschedule the original appointment several times due to timing issues on their end. The tech that came out to clean the chimney was professional, worked clean, and quickly. Two guys made a second trip to replace the cap which was also handled professionally. Unfortunately, their pricing is astronomical for the amount of time spent at my house. It cost around $725.00 for 1.5 manhours worth of work, a $100 stainless cap, and two trips with a van. When I called to ask if the price of the chimney cap replacement could be negotiated because it only took two techs half an hour, I was told 'sorry but that is the price.' I assumed they may offer a small discount but my request was deflected several times. When I told the employee on the phone I would never do business with them again, she brushed it off and asked if I wanted to pay the invoice immediately. read more

Extremely disappointed. I contacted Ashbusters to get my gas fire place up and running, but after $300 all I got was new embers and some new spray paint in the fireplace. Chris was great! He was kind, respectful, and very helpful. Chris said that the fireplace looked good and should work fine. I did get the wrong connection for the fireplace and ashbusters sent out one of the managers. The manager who came to the house immediately said that nothing was going to work and tried to upsell me into buying a new unit, which of course he provided some instant quotes of a new fire place. Between $4500 and $3500 for a new fireplace. TL;DR I'm out $300 for a non working fireplace, all I got were new embers and spray paint. The company will try and upsell instead of getting the unit fixed. The manager also said he would contact me back about a part but never contacted me. read more

I have used this company on two occasions. Both times they said my fireplace was unsafe to use and recommended me buying a new wood burning stove/gas log. I have since had my gas logs serviced and it was fine. This company "up sales". I do not recommend them. read more

Came to home cleaned fireplace and left a disgraceful mess. My wife and I up half the night cleaning their mess!!! No return call or email once informed them. AWFUL I did receive a call from Kim saying they were sorry and sent a cleaning crew out to fix the carpet and furniture. They owned up to the problem and did the best they could to help. read more

We originally contacted Ashbusters to give us a quote to line the chimneys in a 120-year old house. They suggested a cheaper solution and we contracted them to install two gas-burning fireplace units. They showed up right on time for every appointment and did excellent work. They returned at the onset of cold weather to check pilot lights and make sure all was in working order. Highly recommended. read more
