When you think of the meth-addled, knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing, slack-jawed yokels that live in a small town like Medford, you realize that they've got to go somewhere buy their Bud Light, Camels, coldcuts, and cheese. Well, Thunderbird is where that happens. Yes, things are generally pretty cheap at Thunderbird -- it's owned by Sherm's, which also owns the non-Kroger Food 4 Less in Medford as well. But the store, which looks straight out of 1973 -- is a total craphole. It smells of I'm not sure what -- but it doesn't smell pleasant at all in there. The lighting -- much like Food 4 Less -- is awful, and also feels like it hasn't changed since 1973. And while it's at least generally clean in there, you feel like you wouldn't be surprised to find cans and boxes covered with a thick layer of dust. And I'm thinking the previous reviewer has Thunderbird mixed up with Food 4 Less. Thunderbird doesn't at all stock natural foods. Food 4 Less is the one with the extensive selection of organics/naturals. However, for some reason, Thunderbird has a very extensive sports card selection. So if you want to buy a pack of Topps trading cards, this is the only place in town (other than Walmart/Target) to do so. Too many other places in Medford to buy groceries where you don't feel the need to wash yourself in bleach when you're done. Just steer clear of Thunderbird!

Huge elections of different products at a good price. The produce is always fresh, and the quality of meat is high.

Great store Great staff. Enough items to keep you going through the week. The produce does leave much to be desired though.

Our Trader Joe's here in Medford is one of the very best in which I have ever shopped. (The other…read moreone was in Santa Fe.). But, honestly, I think ours is the very best. In a time of both "shrinkflation" and inflation, Trader Joe's does a great job of providing top notch products with competitive prices. I buy a lot of things here, including pasture-raised eggs, half-and-half, whipping cream, organic butter, large 72% dark Belgian chocolate bars that I use in cooking, potatoes, organic produce of various kinds, ground, turkey, ground lamb, turkey at Thanksgiving, prime rib at Christmas, artisan cheese, Australian, red shrimp, the best beef bone broth, as well as chicken and turkey bone broth that I have ever purchased, and many seasonal items. I thoroughly enjoy how sweet, happy -- and knowledgable -- all of the employees are. It is such a pleasure to go there. It's sort of like attending a party with friends while grocery shopping!!! I would give our Trader Joe's 1000 stars if I could. Thank you for all that you do for Southern Oregon.

I'm not particularly a Trader Joe's fan. I take issue with the very large percentage of Trader…read moreJoe's items being pre-packed in plastic. Putting this aside , this is a great Trader Joe's. However, I am taking one star off because most of the golden berry containers contained some moldy fruit at the bottom. I'm severely allergic to mold so this is definitely a pet peeve of mine. Now for the good! The store was very clean, including the bathrooms that were sparkling clean. There was abundant staff around, so I could always find help; including when I brought attention to the moldy golden berries. In the produce area, there were at least two employees if not three. I asked about the strawberry plums. One of the produce workers shared that the strawberry plums are wonderful, and because of strawberry flavor, the plums are ready when firm. I had been hesitant to buy them because they all seemed quite hard... but she was definitely right and that container of plums did not last very long with us at all... so good! Checking out was easy Peezy with each checkout stand having an employee present and the employee I was helped by was super friendly, packed everything up efficiently and well. 2026 #12

As a housewife who does all the grocery shopping and a former child who grew up watching The Price…read moreis Right, I have a good grasp on what items cost. I visited this location as someone who doesn't live in the area and was shocked to see that the prices are way higher than regular Costco and are equal to or sometimes even a dollar or two more than just buying the exact product at Walmart or Fred Meyer. For the price of 1 loaf of Franz gluten-free bread, $7.79 for less than a dollar more I could go to Costco and get 2 loaves of Canyon Bakehouse gluten-free bread. 14 oz Tajin is $7.99. I can buy the exact same size from Walmart for $6.98. Here, 19 oz Mae Ploy canned coconut cream is $3.49 a can. Walmart online sells it individually and as a 6 pack for $2.58 per can. $3.59 for American Beauty 8 oz manicotti shells here. It's $3.49 at Fred Meyer in Medford. 16 ounces of jumbo Campfire marshmallows here are $3.39 whereas 16 oz Kraft Jet Puffed marshmallows are $2.99 at Fred Meyer in Medford. $8.69 for 24 Flav-R-Pac frozen corn cobettes or $2 for 6 Great Value frozen corn cobettes at Walmart. $14.19 for 2.125 lbs dried hash brown shreds here. Same size at Costco is $8.99. Costco sells in-store and ships #10 sized canned products so I'm confused why people are shopping here when the prices aren't wholesale, they're often slightly higher than retail at the local Fred Meyer and Walmart. There aren't many specialty products here for varied diets or cuisines, so if you're needing gluten-free or something more diverse than soy sauce or tortillas, you're going to need to order from elsewhere. I ended up buying a box of True Lemon (they didn't have the True Lime I came for.) Visited October 2024.
