I had seen them working on the park back in the summer of 2022. How I missed it last summer is beyond me! One of my friends said we were too busy working on our school work. One of the things I love doing when I'm up in Ashland is taking an early morning walk. Coming down, I saw they were open, and I went in. It is nicely done and offer areas to sit and meditate if needed. Admission is free! But leave a donation! The park is really beautiful!

A beautiful, lush green park with plenty of space to walk, relax, and play. There are huge trees,…read moregreen grass, and a little river running through the park, making it such a peaceful and delightful place to spend time. You can even see deer walking around or grazing in the park from time to time. It's conveniently located right next to the city center, making it an easy place to visit while exploring the area. The Sunday market is also worth checking out. Local artists and vendors set up booths, and you can find all kinds of cute and unique handmade art and crafts. Such a lovely park--definitely worth a visit!

********** NOT DOG FRIENDLY **********…read more We travel with our dog so we drove here specifically after seeing many online recommendations that this was a great place to bring your pup. It was a challenge finding parking but when we did, we excitedly walked to the park anticipating the enjoyment we would all have. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were greeted with multiple signs advising that the park does not allow dogs and encouraging people to walk their dogs around outside the park. We did that, as well as attempting one of the trail options but we have better options for that without driving here, hence the two stars. We also understand the necessity of not allowing dogs is specific locations so this review is for anyone researching because the Internet has told them this is a dog friendly place. It is not.

I'm sure Morical House is lovely, but we'll never know. My husband and I were excitedly preparing…read morefor our "babymoon" in Ashland, when our cat of 14 years had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the emergency room and put on life support. (2 weeks later, she has begun to miraculously recover but is completely blind from the brain damage.) With great reluctance, we decided to cancel our trip - something I've never done before with a planned vacation. I emailed Alicia and asked whether she would consider partially refunding the cost of our stay (including $100 that we had paid in advance for breakfasts). She was completely unsympathetic to what has been the most heartbreaking situation in my adult life to date, cited needing to take care of her small business, and refused to refund us, even for the food we wouldn't be eating. Summer lodging in Ashland is incredibly busy and in high demand. I'm certain she was able to re-book at least some of those nights on extremely short notice. So Morical House doubled down on their revenue for those nights, and we incurred costs for a Bed & Breakfast (and extra costs for breakfast) at a place we wouldn't be using, on top of thousands of dollars of vet bills. Even our airline, with their rigid policies, was more forgiving than that. If we do make it up to Ashland later this summer, pre-baby, we won't be re-booking here.

In short, we have had wonderful experiences at Morical House over the past 5 years, and will likely…read morecontinue to make this our goto place to stay when visiting Ashland. Alicia runs a great B&B on grounds that is small enough to be considered cozy, but large enough that you aren't bumping into other guest all of the time. While everything is top-notch, I'd have to say that her welcoming nature and her outstanding breakfasts are what keep us coming back each year. She does some really inventive (and delicious) food pairings, and is more than happy to accommodate any food restrictions. As an example, this morning's breakfast started with fresh figs topped with blue cheese, toasted almonds and touch of thyme. We usually stay in one of the downstairs rooms in the separate structure near the rear of the property. They come with an incredibly spacious bathroom, fireplace, small kitchenette area, and a window bench to curl up in. There's wifi and a TV, if you need to stay in touch with the outside world. Or, if you prefer, there's usually a small selection of books to read, should you just want to have a reading adventure.
