TO BE CLEAR, THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH- My family and I went to Mother's Day brunch…read morefor the first time. I'll start with the pros: The scenery and views are beautiful. The music stage and grassy area looked lovely. The cons: The food was just ok. It was ala carte, pricey and you had to order it at the counter and then pick it up and take it to your table, also bus your table when finished. So basically they had no host, server and one guy bussing if he had to. We had to find where our reserved table was ourselves. The tables and chairs were plastic with no table cloth so it felt undressed and unthoughtful. We had to search for salt and pepper on other tables and every table didn't have them. We asked for ketchup and the guy said he would look for some when he wasn't busy. He did finally slap a big bottle down on the table well after we were finished. Normally on any other day, I wouldn't have a problem serving myself but it was Mother's Day. I did not want to do all that. I hope for them in the future, they make the Mother's Day Brunch better staffed and thoughtful for the mothers and families who come. Perhaps, instead of their usual food service style, they could alter it to make it feel less self service on Mother's Day. We gave it a try and we won't be going back for Mother's Day.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself on all occasions: Applinger is a magic place right off I-5 with beautiful scenery, tranquil setting, and of course Bubba the horse (for whom they gave me carrots to share w/him both ways). The Orchard Suite is beautiful and comfortable, and Lisa does all that she can to make it memorable. I really don't even have any little complaints, except that I can't just check out of my busy life and stay there. Can heartily recommend and will certainly return myself - can't wait.

I love this farmers market which is officially known as Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters Market,…read morebut we just say Growers Market. In the spring there are many garden plants to buy. Your favorite farm to buy vegetable from is also the place to get locally started and hardened plants if you're a gardener. Many stands start off the year with homemade baked goods. There are food trucks available with breakfast and lunch items. My favorite truck is the grilled cheese sandwich and soup truck. There is always an assortment of things grown or made in the Rogue Valley. Over the years I've seen cat trees, scarves, gazebos, soap, emu and ostrich products local honey, eggs, and jerky products and occasionally guitar players. It's not long before there are vegetables, fruit and berries to buy - cucumbers; slicing and pickling, parsley, summer squash, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, corn, black berries, cherries and many things that are slipping my mind at the moment. When you're done shopping, Hawthorne Park is a nice place to eat what you purchased or let the kids cool off at the water playground. There are two dog parks so that big and small dogs can socialize. There is something for almost everyone. The pictures I'm sharing are of plants that were purchased from the growers market.

It's the end of an era…read more I remember first discovering Lillie Belle's magical chocolate at Phil Lesh's 70th birthday celebration at Bill Graham. It wowed my tastebuds in a profound way. It's been 15 yrs since then. Lillie Belle - closed up shop this month - after 24 yrs of delighting people with their handmade artisan chocolates. Thank you Lillie Belle for bringing so much joy and goodness to the world. Trust. See original review back in 2010 below: For me - chocolate is seeped in nostalgia. I can remember spreading chocolate hazelnut spread on toast in Jakarta. I remember my first Snicker bar in Bali. Lying stomach-down with a Kit-Kat bar - on my great Aunt's carpet in Wales. Playing faux fondue parties with my barbies with a Cadbury Creme Egg in New Jersey My stomach groaning after a trippy Cadbury Factory tour, with excessive free chocolate- in England And the spicy kick of a Lillie Belle Farms' Crunchy Fire Bar comprised of sugared Pecans and Firey Chilis in dark Organic single origin chocolate - at a Furthur show in San Francisco. Given to me by a regal looking nine-year old redhead with a thin purple glow-stick weaved into her braids. And later - sweetly- given two other bars - - by her just as amazing nine year old friend; clutching a tye-dye plastic ball. As I snapped off pieces of those bars - beneath the moving iridescent colorful lights, while the soaring chords of a guitar wrangled my soul - I felt like I finally understood it all. Understood why. Why chocolate is so alluring. So seductive. I understood - as the brash kick of chile lingered at the back of my throat - intermingled with a coating of bitter sharp dark chocolate. Lillie Belle Farms now has a permanent imprint on my chocolate memories. So much so - that I've already ordered a couple of bars of chocolate from their website Even browsing through their site - makes me happy. I appreciate the simple packaging of their bars. Their straightforward organic ingredients. And moreso I love that I first discovered Lillie Belle Farms in a dark-love-filled-music-blessed concert space in San Francisco. Trust.
