I'm torn. On the one hand I want to keep this gem of a B&B to myself. On the other, it's just too good of a place not to say anything about. We discovered Morical House several years ago when looking for a place to stay while we were in Ashland seeing plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. We fell in love with place and haven't seen the need to go anywhere else. So many things to love about this property.... - Alicia, the proprietress, is a font of knowledge about the local area, the best restaurants to go to, the best wineries, and all the things you'd ever want to do while staying in Ashland. - The breakfasts are spectacular. Hands down the best food I've ever had at B&B and probably 95% of the restaurants I've ever been to. They serve a three course breakfast! This is not your typical eggs and bacon in steamer trays type of place. This farm to table local fare that is beautiful and delicious. - The gardens are beautiful and there's a deck overlooking the valley that's a nice place to have some wine on a warm afternoon. - The rooms are lovely. We've always stayed in the carriage house and rooms 6 and 7 have fireplaces and window seats. Perfect for lazing away the afternoon reading. - The inn is located a little under a mile from the edge of the plaza, which is a perfect distance to walk off the delicious food you'll have at breakfast. In short Morical House is an oasis, a welcome respite from the outside world. We'll definitely be back.

It has a huge Willow Tree in front, a pond with ducks, a gazebo with a beautiful garden area and pond with fish, and is just so well done. We watched deer in the morning while we ate our breakfast! Lisa was so nice and took good care of us! Cookies when we arrived, a handwritten note, truffles in our room. Super friendly and helpful when we arrived. Every detail was so wonderful. There is a pool also but it was closed due to the weather being too cold but I'm sure it's amazing in the summer. Parking is good also. The inn is not too far from downtown and they offer a delicious breakfast as well. We had apple cider crème brûlée and sweet potato hash with chicken apple sausage. Good coffee too! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back to this lovely and charming place!

It was a seamless experience with the keypad and our room was gorgeous. We stayed in the Captain & Lizzie McCall Suite. It is simply stunning. The king bed was wonderfully comfortable and the furniture and decor was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious chocolate chip cookies and milk too. Breakfast was yummy too and right on time. The coffee was strong and food arrived promptly (perhaps the bacon was a little dry- but otherwise very well executed). I appreciated their communication in the days approaching our stay. Everything was seamless, comfortable, and relaxing. Exactly as we expected. highly recommend!

It included an exquisite frittata, the best Waldorf salad I've ever tasted, cucumber & creme cheese sandwiches, scones with clotted creme & jam, macarons, chocolate-dipped juicy strawberries, & an array of delicious loose leaf tea steeped in four different teapots. The table was set beautifully with a heavy linen tablecloth and sterling flatware. The 1883 Victorian mansion has been exquisitely restored & filled with lovely antiques. The service we received was warm and considerate. The various two pots were kept refilled with hot water and fresh water was poured for those who wished. This was so exquisite that we intend to check out their Christmas tea as well.

From the early-morning coffee and scones to a delightful, filling breakfast, the seque to the afternoon tea, and the finish with sherry or port in the evening, you'll share Ashland, life, and Anne Hathaway's itself with the other guests and come away the better for it. We talked about plans and great finds in the city, discussed the plays, dissected the acting and directing styles, and agreed to disagree with a graciousness our legislators need to emulate. The staff was friendly and more-than-competent, echoing the owners' vibe that they were glad we were here. At breakfast, several young local students served. They were attentive without hovering and well-trained without seeming officious. The morning scones (ginger/apricot and cranberry/almond, truly awesome the two mornings we were there) and coffee or tea are available an hour before breakfast. You can grab the house copy of the NY Times or Wall Street Journal to catch up on what is happening in the non-Shakespeare world. Follow that with an excellent breakfast in the back-yard garden area. Breakfast started with a generous fruit course (fresh local berries were in season), accompanied by scones and coffee/tea/fresh-squeezed orange juice. Our first morning we enjoyed a frittata with oven-roasted potatoes and crispy bacon (turkey bacon was also available). Our second breakfast featured a layered berry French toast with a buttermilk syrup as well as chicken sausage. Both mornings the staff asked if we wished more! Would have loved it, but there was just no room. Tables for four or six facilitated getting to know the other guests well. If you want a copy of a recipe, just ask and it appears. I know it's a small thing, but I can't remember the last time we used the sterling silver at breakfast - at least until we got to this B and B. The four o'clock tea featured warm homemade chocolate chip or orange sugar cookies, cheeses and crackers, cashews, fresh fruit, and peanut butter pretzels. This treat can really take the edge off, so all you want is a light dinner. Iced tea and lemonade slaked our thirsts on the hot afternoons. When we got home after the shows, we'd enjoy a drink and revel in each other's company. We guests were strangers when we arrived at Anne Hathaway's. We weren't when we departed. Anne Hathaway's is a charming and beautifully maintained home. The front room has floor-to-ceiling bookshelves crammed with any reading material you might want. The rooms are cozy and comfortable and bursting with art. Make sure you find the red glass heart in the room and get your reward for it. We also appreciated the green, sustainable mindset of the owners and staff. My wife wasn't thrilled when I originally booked Anne Hathaway's instead of our customary B and B. Now we both can't wait to return.

Don't even think about staying in Medford at a chain hotel or anywhere else in Ashland because the Bayberry Inn is the nicest bed and breakfast! Now if you're not feeling social, you can pay a tiny bit extra to have your breakfast served to you on a tray in your room. As a busy Mom, who seldom travels alone, when I come to Ashland I'm alone and getting my breakfast delivered to my room is AMAZING and the epitome of the ideal relaxing vacation having someone cook a gourmet meal for me and I get to eat it alone in my room! The breakfast is truly top notch delicious! I consider myself a 'foodie' who loves to eat and if the Bayberry Inn was a restaurant I would go there just for their breakfast - it's that good! Also, like I mentioned since I'm a female traveling alone I feel sooo safe staying at the Bayberry Inn as opposed to an impersonal hotel. The Bayberry Inn is located in the North part of Ashland and it is easily walkable to everything in town or there's plenty of free parking in the town you can drive too. The rooms are clean with all the comforts of home and they have personal AC and heater too to customize the room temperature to your comfort level which I appreciated! The owners, Jacqui and Billy, are super friendly and nice! They truly care about all their guests and want you have a fantastic stay. I will continue to stay at the Bayberry Inn every time I come to Ashland - which hopefully will be soon!

There is no onsite staff, so you need to make sure you've received your welcome email which contains the door codes to enter. The room was elegant, with very high ceilings, completely decorated in the victorian style with lovely antique furniture, photos, and decor (old oil lamps etc.). The decoration was completely tasteful and not cluttered. Each morning, there is hot coffee prepared in the sitting room, which has a large table, lots of board games, and some comfy couches and chairs to sit in. My partner and I had an easy time doing a few hours of work each day in this room. The internet was fast and reliable. The hotel is very private, with no front desk staff and very few other guests, but there is someone on hand via phone or text, and they are able to get to the hotel within a few minutes to help with anything you need! They use a great platform for managing the reservation, where you can very easily purchase a 1pm late check out (for $25) - that came in very handy when we realized in the morning that we weren't going to be ready to leave at 11am! I noticed little touches that should not be missed: The sink, located outside the toilet room, had a bench you could sit on and apply your makeup ( if that applies to you). This turned a sink into a dressing table. There were also packaged makeup remover wipes... Which probably keeps their towels, washcloths, and sheets from being stained. I am very guilty of makeup covered towels in hotels...which are always white, maybe so they can bleach the hell out of them. There was a small radio turned to news. (B&Bs typically do not have TVs). And lots of lighting options. The door unlocked by code...which meant not keeping up with a key. The pool was so lovely. The garden was absolutely gorgeous. And the breakfast was very good. I can not have tomatoes or tomatoes sauces ( sadly) and they had planned a Mexican breakfast dish with salsa. Somehow, they whipped up a yummy green sauce for me instead, so last minute. ( I arrived in the evening, so not a terribly convenient time to rethink the next day's breakfast). Due to Covid, breakfast was served outside at separate tables, but we were still able to socialize. The hosts were both lovely and had a nice sense of humor. They are located very near the downtown area and we're knowledgeable and could make recommendations of restaurants. I was only there one night, but it was a perfect final stay of my fantastic 10 day vacation!
