DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE. IT'S CHEAP FOR A REASON This is literally THE WORST FURNITURE STORE IN THE AREA. I did not want to purchase anything from this place to begin with but my wife insisted we "check it out". The ONE thing this place has going for them is their designers. Kudos to them for making appealing designs but the quality is horrible. Just so you know I have shopped at Slumberland, Furniture Row and Carters. This place is by far the worse. Here is goes: Quality: We bought a coffee table and two end tables. When we pledge the wood, it leaves these terrible streak looking marks unlike any of the other wood we have in our house from the other places I've mentioned. It seems as if it's a low quality wood with a bad sealant. I bought my daughter's bed from there, which was one of the higher ends, and the headboard cracked in half when it fell over. Thank God I had the warranty, (something told me I should buy one from this place). Service: Oh remember that cracked headboard, yea so I went through their (Montage Claim Service) where the warranty goes through and everything was ok with them (the warranty service place). Timing may have took a bit longer than normal though. However it's on Ashley's end where the problem is. Montage states they faxed over my decision to re-select on August 29th and I should hear from Ashley within 2 days to go get a new bed, well, 2 weeks goes by and nothing, so I call and obviously on a Friday at 10:00 a.m. the guy who handles this isn't here and will be gone for the weekend. So I had Montage fax it again on the 17th, well, here it is the 21st and still nothing. So I call to talk to the manager who...get this...says "Hello this is such and such how may I help you?" and I say "Hi such and such how are you doing?" (in the most polite way possible) and he says (in a derogatory manner)..."How can I help you?" just basically seeming that he was too busy or didn't really want to help me. So I state my claim and obviously Jesse Baker (the one who handles all of this and should have received my faxes) is out of the office until Monday...again... So I ask the manager, you asked me originally how you could help me, so lets say that indeed he got both of my faxes or even one of them and they are in his office, how are you going to "help me" considering the ball seemed to be dropped on your end, and he goes, "Well if it's in his office you can come and and re-select and you will be good to go". Really? So while my daughter has been without a bed since July 27th and it's now September 21st, we will just brush this off like nothing has happened? Poor service, he didn't seem like "helping me" at all. Sounded like he didn't want to be there. Moral of the story, DON'T BUY FROM THIS PLACE, IT'S CHEAP QUALITY AND HORRIBLE SERVICE! read more

Loved the furniture, disappointed with management's customer service...Won't make the mistake of purchasing from them again.

I ordered a bedroom set from the store and the salesperson promised me he would try and rush the order so I wouldn't be sleeping on the floor for a month after moving into a new apartment. After not hearing anything for 2 weeks, I tried to call and find out the status of my order and they basically gave me the run around. The normal sales people don't know anything about deliveries, so you have to talk to the delivery manager who is only there between 10 and 5. So, I left a message for this person asking for details about my order. The next day I received a phone call while I was at work and the voicemail she left had absolutely no information about my order. I called again a few days later and she made it sound like my bed has been sitting there and they can't deliver it for another week since they are booked in the beginning of the week. If I hadn't called, I don't know when I would be getting my bed. You need to be insistent if you want anything delivered by them in a timely manner. Basically, customer service is awful. Can't comment on the furniture until I receive it in a week (1 month after ordering). read more

The worst customer service I have ever come across. I ordered a bedroom set in November and was told it would be here by Christmas. It did not come, which was understandable given the timeframe. I was then told it would be here January 11. No furniture. Then told by the end of January-still no furniture. Then I was told it would be here by February 4. Still not here. I called today and they said it's in a warehouse in Bloomington. They cannot schedule delivery and there was no manager to talk to. They said someone would call me back Monday, which I am sure it will not happen because every time they have told me they would call me back nobody ever has. They have had my money since November and I have no product. I will never order from Ashley furniture store again! read more

Okay, now I've actually bought from Ashley Furniture and I want to amend my review, for the below reasons: 1. When my wife called on Saturday, 12/20/08, she spoke to a salesperson named Beverly (Bev on her nametag). Beverly did some price research, and during the conversation mentioned a "floor sale" which was going to start on Monday. When asked if they would give us the sales price if we came in today and made a purchase, we were told yes. During the conversation Bev said they also offered a cash discount. Once we got to the back counter to pay, my wife asked again about the cash discount. Bev went off to ask the "owner" and came back and said that he said "no cash discount with the sale prices". After having spent 2 hours in the store, we weren't about to argue over a discount we never even knew the amount of, and given the circumstances of already having picked out the furniture, we went ahead and paid. We also paid for a 5 year in home warranty plan for accidental damage to the pieces, which Bev told us we would get back in store credit if we did not make a claim on it over the 5 years. My wife did comment, "I should pay with a credit card just to make him pay the 3 or 4% fee for being so unreasonable", to which Bev gave her a disgusted look and told her to "do what you have to do". 2. I looked at many of the beds that my wife liked that Bev kept insisting were 100% solid hardwoods with hardwood veneers, but were clearly at least partly engineered wood on the non-support sections of each (you could tell from inside the screw holes in the back of each piece). 3. My wife set it up with Bev to pick the items up on Monday or Tuesday and told Bev she would call ahead. Interestingly, in retrospect, Bev called my wife Monday morning and asked her if she would be picking them up today so she could have them wrapped and ready for her. My wife told her she would be on her way soon. When she got to the store with her friend, the pieces were already wrapped in black cloth and taped. The workers loaded the pieces on the struck, which is large enough for the pieces to fit carefully and yet not jostle around. She was NEVER offered or advised to inspect the pieces, but was asked to sign a receipt. She did notice that it said the items were "inspected" but thinking she had just seen them on Saturday evening, she just trusted everything would be fine. When she got home and we unloaded everything and unwrapped them, much to our dismay the loveseat had 3 good sized chinks out of the front of the wood top, and the sofa had one. My wife called the store and the woman answering the phone said "well, you didn't inspect them". My wife told her that they were already wrapped when we got to the store, and she was never offered a chance to inspect them. The woman transferred her to shipping. The shipping person transferred her to someone else. The 2nd woman told her, "well, you bought them off the floor". My wife again explained the situation, and the woman told her "well, you'll have to bring them back in here for repair". My wife asked why she would have to do that since she had the warranty plan. At that point she was transferred again. The 3rd person to pick up said she was looking for her sales person, Bev. Bev never came to the phone. The 4th person to pick up identified herself as the Customer Service Manager and told us to put a claim through on the warrantly plan. When my wife asked that we not lose the right of refund on the cost of the warranty plan by filing the claim, she was told "you should have inspected it. I don't care where I buy something from, I always inspect the item, and you signed that you inspected it." My wife explained that the items were already wrapped. The manager said she should have "insisted they unwrap them for inspection" and further, the items could have been damaged during the drive home (even though they were wrapped and loaded by store personnel and we found NO chinks of the wood in the black material). My wife said, "so, basically, it's BUYER BEWARE, then, at Ashley Furniture, and the manager said this was a warranty claim and she would do nothing to waive the "claim status". My wife informed her she would file complaints on every review panel she could, and was told "well you do that, and have a great holiday!" What a nightmare! read more

I would give zero stars if possible. Went in looking for an armoire or wardrobe if you prefer, only to be told they don't have a single one! That's right not one in tens of thousands of square feet. I'm not talking not one in stock I'm saying not even one single floor model to look at...zero given these things are generally over a thousand dollars makes one think they don't want to be in the furniture business. Good collection of furniture to fit any home. We were helped by friendly salespersons. Prices are quite reasonable and they had 25% discount sale going on if we donated 25 cans top their good drive which was a pretty good discount. Waiting on my couch to be delivered. We purchased a rather expensive "leather" sectional from Ashley Furniture for a family of 3 adults which 2 of us are gone most of the day. Within 5 months of having it in our home we noticed discoloration. Since then we have had to have all seating areas and arm rests replaced. Zipper is now broken on the arm. Spoke to a corporate office and they were of no help and sent us back to the owner of the Champaign store who refused to do anything. In the beginning we were told "it's a manufacturers defect". Now they are telling us it must be our body chemistry or we are using something to clean it. The furniture is no longer under manufacturers warranty. We don't know how long this furniture will last as it was less than a year old when we began having problems. We would have been money ahead if we had gone to a small local store and purchased something and replaced it every two years. I will never purchase anything from any Ashley Furniture store again. I suggest you not purchase anything from the Champaign store. The owner of this store does not stand behind the products he sells and then accuses the customer of being responsible for the problem. read more

I was completely lied to when buying the warranty. The salesperson in Champaign, IL Lee explained that if the warranty was bought it covered damage over time. In addition, if we didn't use the warranty, that money could be applied to new furniture. As I found out as my wife and I tried to redeem our warranty, the coverage was much more limited than we were told and could not apply the unused credit to new furniture. I would expect truthfullness and ethical behavior from a salesperson especially from a corporation such as Ashley Furniture. Instead we were faced with swindling and lying in order to make a sale. TERRIBLE business practices and I will for sure stay away from Ashley Furniture while my wife and I furniture our new house. read more

I heard some good things about Ashley, however, after this recent purchase, I could not regret more and won't ever shop with them again and will not recommend it at all . We bought a bed room set including a queen bed and two night stands, but once our payment went through, after they got their money, the cashier told us the delivery people would not either take their shoes off or take a shoe cover with them. I wanted to cancel the order right away because the ridiculous policy which we were not informed before we paid. However, they would charge you for 30% which for us is over $200, so now you understand why they told you all this very strict and unreasonable policy after you signed and paid. The delivery finally happened and they obviously did not have their own delivery crew or technician, everything is third party, what makes it even worse, they were sent here for delivery bedroom sets, however, they forgot to bring the main body of the bed, and the head board was damaged. We were worried to sign on their sheet, so I spoke with a customer representative, she did not tell me what to do and promise would call back, however, she did not and the third party delivery group was trying to push us to sign on this unsatisfied delivery without any confirmation of follow-up from the store itself. Their service group was so rude, though I am an international, I do not think she can use this as an excuse to repeat what she was saying over and over again, without listening to you what happened and not even try to help. The store aftersale group was so unprofessional, I cannot imagine they tried to continue their business like this, I could not regret more doing business with them. The bed is at quite disappointing quality, not even worthy the money I paid at all. Again, they sent a third party guy to our home to fix the brand new and already broken bed, I cannot imagine they do not even have the paint to match it and I have to bear it, because I am so sick of dealing with this store, and they should really call themselves customer service attitude and technique-barrier. Also all internationals you should be alert, since even you are trying to give them business, once you turn around they will mark you as English language barrier and you cannot imagine what horrible experience follows once you make an order with them. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before we returned to Ashley. We purchased a king mattress and adjustable base from them in early 2013. When we wanted to replace the king with two twins, we went back. We told the salesman what we wanted to do. Instead of ordering twinXL, he ordered twin. Needless to say, the mattresses are 5" too short for our base. The store says "salesman told them about XL (NOT), we didn't purchase the Comfort Guarantee (didn't know they had one until I read the back of the sales receipt and BTW it is $200) that all sales are final. Salesman NEVER mentioned all sales final on Bedding, pillows, blankets, mattress pads, protection plans, and service fees are non-refundable". Even though the twin and twinXL are the same price (actually when I write this the XL is $30 cheaper online) and the mattress protectors are the same price (the ones we were given was for mattresses 7-12" and my husband said the delivery people had a very hard time fitting them on our 14" mattresses); the Champaign store said they would not swap them. read more

Our salesman, Andy Paris, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the furniture we were looking to purchase. He also told us the specials that were going on and did a great job in selling us our furniture. The only problem we had was when we went to pick it up one piece of our sectional was damaged beyond repair so they had to order us a new one and didn't comp us in anyway for the inconvenience. Let me start by saying they get one star because I cannot give a zero or negative. I have nothing negative to say about the store or people who work at the store. I purchased an entire home worth of furniture at Ashley last year. This was my biggest mistake and will never buy again from them. The king size bed looked amazing however, they cheated on bed slats using pine instead of hard lumber. Now my bed sagging because the frame cannot handle the weight of the bed. For my living room the recliner was coated with grease that has fallen off onto my carpet and stained it permanently. These are minor to my last complaint. My kitchen table was damaged when I put place mats on the table. After 3 months of dealing with the insurance, a person came out to "fix" the problem. One look at the table and the guy said "yeah they have a problem with the finish, and I have seen this on hundreds of tables. This table is junk now I cannnot fix this." The rubber on my place mats melted through the finish. I have since been told that they will do an even exchange with the table, and I have been waiting for six weeks for Ashley to get a letter from the insurance company. I have been dealing with this table for over four months and still feel I have a long battle. I am not mad at Ashley because they cant control the junk they are selling. I am only warning you that if you buy from this store be prepared to be very disappointed and frustrated in the future. read more

I WOULD TELL MY FRIENDS: DON'T BUY HERE!!! The store had my money for more than 2 months prior to seeing any furniture. I purchased 3 rooms of furniture, totalling more than $8000. Each room had some damage (drawers that would not slide, marred table tops, chairs that were not assembled properly and rocked-and these were not 'rocking-chairs'); resulting in 1 hassle after another. The crown jewel in the experience is when the delivery truck struck our pole light and the OWNER accused us of lying about the damage,etc....funny how our experience sounds a lot like KRISTEN'S (see Google reviews)...arranging a delivery time was also a ridiculous experience....I only wish I had read her review and Jeremy's review prior. Don't shop here! Worst than the worse car dealership! We were given a price quote on a bedroom set, I called to find out the whole total with tax and delivery so that we could order what we chose over the phone. We were so excited to get our bedroom; then to our shock, the total was $1000 HIGHER than our quote! The salesman admitted to leaving the chest off the price by "mistake" he then called me back to backpedal(surely out of fear of getting in trouble) I asked to speak to the manager and was given Mike the Store owner, who proceeded to interupt my explaination of what happened, proceded to yell and me and belittle me, turning it into MY FAULT! I was not seeking anything other than an apology and acknowledgement of the mistake THEY made!! He ended our conversation saying he did not want my business...wow! That is NO WAY to run a business and because the stores are individually owned there is no corperate recourse! I am shocked by how I was treated. What a waste of time! If they would do this to me, they will do it to you. Stay away from the Champaign store! read more
