We were lied to by the salesman. He said the power lift chair would be delivered to our home in two weeks. I should have read the fine print, held on to my money, and walked out of the store. Now they are saying it will be two more weeks. Who knows if or when we will ever see it. Do yourself a favor and take your money elsewhere. We plan to buy several thousand dollars of furniture this fall in some planned redecorating. We will not spend any of that money with Ashley. read more

The service was good, but when I received my delivery it was not what I purchased in the store. After calling numerous times to noprevail, I decided to go to the store. Spoke to the person who sold me the bed & rize lift told him the problem and NO one has did nothing up to this point. I bought the bed and lift for medical reasons and now I can't even get into the bed because it's to high and the phone charger was given to me to put on the lift myself that I purchased. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HERE! Needless to say what we have been dealing with is absolutely ridiculous! We have been nothing but nice and understanding up to this point. We purchased a tempurpedic bed and a head board in September and it was delivered in October. That is when the issues started. (Summing a lot of this up.)Day before it came to us the headboard was damaged and we were told they would expedite the headboard. We were told that the delivery guys would install the bed and take our old bed and frame since the headboard was broken. They did not install it and wanted money to take the bed. Not a big issue at this point. Month later the headboard came in a different delivery company delivered it and I told them where are the legs for the headboard, the hardware, and instructions. They had no clue. There was no way for it to stand. called and again was polite letting them know not all the pieces were there. They had the delivery person come and deliver the legs that were stuck in Peoria. She acted scared when she delivered them and I thanked her. Go to install the headboard by undoing everything to get the headboard taken care of and low and behold once we get it into place there are brackets missing to hold the whole headboard up. At this point we can't do anything but hope the head board stays in place and doesn't fall on us until the piece comes in. At this point I call the manager Matt at the store and ask him first off what does customer service mean to the store and what's the policy. He fed me their policy and I explained I don't feel like we have received that at all! explained the situation to him and asked for some kind of compensation at this point it's been 9 weeks with us having our bedroom unlivable. I was utterly insulted about what they were going to compensate is with $100 store credit. So you're telling me I have to go into your store and purchase something else and we know well that nothing is $100 in there! That was an insult at this point. We were told that the bracket would be ordered. They were going to try to expedite it. Ashley Furniture could not get it expedited we've been waiting two and a half weeks for this part. My husband has contacted a even higher person and still no resolution to this problem. We were insulted again by an offer for that's all they can do for compensation. Today we get a bill in the mail for an extra $327 from Ashley Furniture for no charges that we approved! We are done. I own a business and guarantee I will let every client know not to buy from this store! We have also contacted the Better Business Bureau about this and will continue to let people know not to purchase anything from here. Like I said we have been nice up to this point. What an absolutely terrible process, terrible store. We went in at the middle of June and bought roughly $10,000 worth of furniture, 2 bedroom sets, a living room set and numerous paintings and small decorations. We clearly stated at the time of sale that our furniture was not needed until end of summer/beginning of fall as our house was being remodeled, we were told no problem, delivery could be adjusted for whenever. We paid, set up delivery and left. Fast Forward to August when we're tentatively supposed to receive our furniture and we call the store to let them know we aren't done remodeling and need delivery middle to end of September. Suddenly it's a problem, the store states the delivery is set and the furniture needs removed from the warehouse. We are told we'll be assessed fees and we tell the store we'll go ahead and accommodate and have it delivered and placed in our garage but we aren'table to view the furniture until we unwrap it. Furniture arrives all wrapped in plastic and we store it for 3 more weeks until we can move it in. When we get it moved in and unwrapped we immediately notice scuffs/scratches as well as staples missing off the back of one of the couches in addition to that side being wobbly/loose. I immediately notify the store who states there's no warranty as it was a floor model. I clarify that this was not damage incurred at the time of sale, this is damage incurred during the storage/transport/delivery as it was under the wrapped plastic. We are told that we have to pay for the damage to be repaired. You can inagine what I replied. And I'LL NEVER BUY FROM ASHLEY AGAIN. They have lost my business. I paid for furniture. Was called 2 weeks later and told that the furniture is now discontinued. I was told that I could only have the floor model if I agreed to spend an additional $1500 to purchase additional pieces that I do not need and that will not fit into my space. They will not break up the set. Yes, I understand that it will be harder for Ashley to sell one off pieces of a set, but I would think that it would be better than disappointing a customer. I'm still having issues a year later.... I understand Covid but our heater went out and it takes 5 weeks to replace. Our 400 dollar ottoman collapsed. Bought some leather recliners last year (2021) and one of the recliners developed cracks in the leather. I was told they wouldn't do anything about it because they told me that this was normal wear and tear. I only had the furniture for 7 months. I went in to Ashley Furniture looking for a simple, accent chair. Preferably with a lot of oak. I walked two full laps around the store. I didn't really see what I want but thought a salesman might have a suggestion. I found one chair that I kind of liked but I didn't like the fabric and was curious if I could get it in another pattern. I liked the shape of the chair, just not the fabric. I was never approached by an employee. One salesman, a lady in her early 20's, looked at me and just sat down in a chair, kind of rolled her eyes, and started texting. I think that's very unprofessional. Everyone is entitled to a break, but do it in the back or take off your name tag. Finally, I went up to the service desk in the back of the store. There were about 4 employees having a conversation. Someone finally noticed me and asked if I needed something in a way that seemed like I was inconveniencing them or interrupting them. Sorry! An older gentleman assisted me and took me around. I asked him about the particular chair that I was interested in and asked if it came in another fabric. Apparently, that was the WRONG thing to ask. He said, "Listen, you obviously don't understand how this store works." He explained that they don't do custom furniture because that's how they keep their prices low. Okay, that's fine, but how was I supposed to know? He was pretty rude about it. It was just a question, a simple explanation without attitude would have sufficed. One step inside Ashley Furniture in Champaign is like a step into a time machine, into what (I imagine) 1970s or 80s poor taste may have looked like. Balooning shiny-brown-leather couches with built-in drink holders and brass studs, oak furniture with complex patterns and a thousand places for dust to gather, puke-green pillows and rugs with Baroque "old world" patterns. Of course, furniture is largely a matter of taste, so it's perhaps important to mention I am writing this from the point of view of a person in their late 20s/early 30s, who has graduated from the college-Ikea vibe. If you like the style(s) I tried to describe above, and what you see on the Ashley web site, then by all means pay it a visit. Otherwise do yourself a favor and stay away. I give it two stars simply because some of the people who work there were sympathetically apologetic for the absence of anything designed in this century within their store. Sadly, after endless searching, I've discovered that nothing for the post-college post-Ikea crowd exists in Chambana. I recommend Dania Furniture around Chicago, and a DIY one-way van rental from U-Haul (~$200), because their shipping fee (~$800) is absurd. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews before my purchase, because man do I regret it. In Champaign for work and my boyfriend and I decided to stop in to check out a variety of things we needed for our new home. We ended up deciding on a kitchen table that fit our needs and would be very reasonably priced. Although we live in Quincy we decided to buy from Champaign and have it shipped from their Bloomington/Normal warehouse, which at the time didn't seem like it would be an issue. A little expensive, but we were told it was feasible and they would do it. Today was the scheduled delivery and we were given a 2 hour time window. At 10 mins til the end of the "window" we were given, delivery said it would be there "any minute" 30 mins later we get a call from the delivery guy stating he was still 50 mins outside of Quincy. He also stated that he was not informed of a 2-hour window and that he was told to just deliver it after his previous delivery. We asked if they could just drop it at the Quincy location for us to pick up, since my boyfriend had to get back to work. They said this was not possible because they are "not affiliated" with that store and whatever else the excuse was. We called the woman who had given us the time frame and she said she had told the delivery guy it needed to be delivered within that time frame and that he should have called to inform us (or them) that he was running behind. Apologies upon apologies. She even went as far to say that we were undercharged for the delivery, and that if we wanted to cancel this delivery we would have to wait another month for them to be back in our area. More apologies. Finally, a customer service rep from the store we purchased the table called to apologize even more. She said we should have been called and told about the frequency of deliveries going to our area. The only compensation we could receive would be a $50 gift card for Ashley Furniture, only good at the Champaign or Peoria locations. I'm sorry, Ashley Furniture, but keep your gift card, it's not going to be used as we will never be shopping at any Ashley Furnitures anywhere ever again. In mid May I purchased a coffee table (and an entire living room set) that was delivered the first week in June. I was given a delivery window of 2:15 to 4:15 pm and the delivery did not arrive until 7:30 pm, despite several calls assuring me that it was coming earlier. When the table finally arrived, it was damaged with scratches and dents in several places. I was assured by the drivers that they would document the damage and a replacement would arrive, but that in the mean time I should keep the table until the replacement arrived. I later spoke with a representative from Ashley who informed me that now that the table was in my home a replacement would not be possible and a technician would need to come to my home. They had a limited amount of available appointments, but I scheduled an appointment for a technician on 7/9/15 almost 5 weeks after the damaged table arrived. When the technician arrived, he looked at the table and said that a replacement would be better, as it would take him too long to repair and would never look like a new table and that I should call the store that I purchased from and request a replacement. When I called the Champaign store, I was informed that a replacement was not possible and a technician would have to be sent to the house for a repair. I was understandably confused as a technician had just left and told me that a repair was too time consuming and that I should request a replacement. I explained to the customer service representative that I was frustrated as I had made a special effort to be home for the three-hour window for the technician and I was reluctant to set up another appointment with a technician without some kind of guarantee that the table would actually be repaired this time and again I requested that the table simply be replaced or if that was not possible, I would like to return the table and receive a refund. I was informed that a replacement or return/refund was not possible and that my only recourse was to wait for another technician. A call from the service agency revealed that no technician was able to return to my home until August the 5, almost 3 months after I purchased the table and would involve me rearranging my schedule again to be home for another midweek/midday visit from a technician. I finally was so frustrated, as I had been misled by two representatives of Ashley about the repair/replacement process that I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Within hours of receiving the complaint Ashley contacted me to say that a new table had been ordered and would be delivered to me soon. However, they reported to the BBB that when the technician came into my home I had refused service on the table. This was a surprise to me as I was not given an opportunity to accept or refuse service. Instead I was TOLD that it would be too time consuming to repair and would never look like the new table that I ordered and I should request a replacement. Ultimately, I was appeased once the new table arrived at the end of July. However, not only did Ashley waste a considerable amount of my time, this was a very poor customer service experience and I will not be returning to purchase furniture from Ashley in the future. read more

I think your customer care needs to get their stories straight! Especially you yourself have no idea what happened my complaint started in January of 2015 champaign went through 2 managers who fails to report and process my claim thus making my claim drop it took several months just to get a repair man out. I just had a house full of furniture delivered and I'm satisfied. I bought a complete living room set, dining room set and bedroom set with mattress. I am very satisfied with everything I bought. The sales man was very helpful in figuring out the layout of the living room fruniture. I wanted to order this one sectional but as he pointed out it wouldn't fit in my living room (I described my livingroom). He was correct on that. When the furniture arrived they put all of the pieces exactly as I wanted them. I even had to re-figure out my bedroom set up because it wouldn't fit the way I wanted it and they moved everything to the new locations. Brace yourself, because boy oh boy this one is going to be sarcastic and really long. On July 20th, we went to the Ashley's store in Champaign, IL to buy a bedroom set. Our salesman Chris found us the perfect set and the perfect deal. We told him that we need to leave for Madison, WI on August 5th, a Sunday. Now remember Sunday, because it is a crucial detail. Chris told us that he will try to get it delivered by 4th or 5th to Champaign. If, however, that fails to happen, we can collect it from Bloomington, IL on our way to Madison. Seems fair enough right; a small detour on our way, not too bad eh! Remember, Sunday, the 5th of August. Fast forward one week, we haven't heard anything from Chris; we text him, call the store - no response. We are told Chris will call us back. Nothing, nada, only blank space. Then on August 2nd, we are informed that the stuff won't reach here in time. Well, we were aware of this possibility; so we can collect it from Bloomington right; as we had agreed. By alas! This is where things become interesting. First, he says that the Bloomington store is closed on Sunday, so we need to go there on Saturday. Something he did not mention to us during his sales pitch. When we pointed this out, he said, I never explicitly said that you can collect it on Sunday from Bloomington. Which is correct, you never explicitly stated that we can collect it on Sunday. You did say that we can collect it on our way, just make a small detour. Now pardon me sire, I was under the impression that this is a simple furniture sale and not a legal contract where you can find loop holes. Okay, well maybe you are right, maybe I am stupid; maybe my memory failed me. Maybe my fiancé's memory failed her. Maybe our graduate level education isn't enough to infer what you meant sir. After all, English is not our first language. How about we cancel the order? Ahhh, I wish it were that easy. To cancel we should pay a 30% restocking fee, because you - "kept your end of the deal" (don't you love quotation marks) and got it delivered to a closed store. Bravo. I will pay the 30 percent fee to my neighbor named Ashley. Doesn't matter if you get it, "I kept my end of the deal". Finally, I called their corporate customer care, which was really helpful. A kind lady named Terry Jobe helped me out, she was polite and understanding. Asked me to pay a 13% fee, which is not ideal, but something I can live with. I have been very impressed with my experience with Ashley Furniture in Champaign, IL. We purchased a bedroom set and dining room set back in February 2017. We had an excellent sales person by the name of Craig. We have been very happy with the quality of our products and the service we have been given. Delivery was smooth and well worth the minimal fee. The delivery staff showed care for our products and how we wanted them placed. They were very fast yet didn't make us feel rushed. We have had a couple of minor product issues, but the customer service team has been responsive and worked to resolve our issues. We will buy from this store again. read more

Ashley's furniture store in Champaign does very poor business. I do not recommend them at all. They have several hidden "add ons" to jack up your final cost, the salesman tells you a different date for delivery than the actual date listed, & when you are told they will mail the item to your home, they actually send it to the warehouse and make you wait longer for it. If you go in or call to ask questions or complain, they tell you someone in charge will call you, but they never do. I will never shop at Ashley's again. They have extremely poor public relations personnel, the delivery dept. is poorly organized, and at least one salesman, Rob, is dishonest and irresponsible. read more

Do not purchase here! Bought a mattress and base with delivery and set up. Set up was terrible. I got on the bed and everything was not stable. you literally could move the bed with one finger. Once I got on and reclined the ergo base I heard a loud pop. I put it back to normal, got off and saw it snapped my bed rail. Called Chris and "they are looking into it". That was over a month ago. I went in looking for a new living room set we were helped with in 5 minutes of walking in to the store the young man that helped us was very nice and had no problem showing us around the store. So we finally found a set we liked and purchased it in cash that day. We were told by the young man that helped us that we should get our furniture in 3 weeks but they say a month just to be safe. Well we purchased our furniture on the 23 of January and now it is the 25 of Feb and they have not even contacted us one time. I did however contact them about a week and a half ago and they said all they were waiting on was one pice of the sectional we ordered. I told them that they could go ahead and deliver the rest of the furniture and I would just pick up the one pice my self the young lady said that was fine and she would have the delivery department contact me they have not contacted me and I have been waiting for almost two weeks now. I called again and asked when the one pice of furniture I was waiting one was going to arrive and they told me it would not be until March 4 this place has some of the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. I got my other living room set from lazy boy and never had any problems like this I got my bedroom set at thomasville and they took 3 months to deliver my furniture but they made that clear when I purchased my bedroom set. I do not mind waiting but at least be honest about it and when people call you and you say you will call them back CALL THEM BACK. Also my furniture from the other two stores survived 3 moves and one was to Germany from Arizona. I am going to go back to buying my furniture from honest and deserving companies. I can only warn you not to go to this store what you do is up to you but you have been warned. Salesman wasted our time trying to sell us the most expensive stuff instead of what we wanted. Spent almost 5 hours simply finalizing paperwork. They delivered the wrong chairs because the salesman ordered the wrong ones. Instead of taking these back and giving us what they wanted (which were on sale the day we went in) they made us pay 50 bucks for a restock fee and didn't give us the discount price. My overall experience at Ashley Furniture was good. The salesman was helpful and not pushy. He was good to offer any assistance then let me make a decision for myself. One downfall I had was the fact that when I was waiting to buy my couch at the main counter, two associates were arguing loudly over one of the associates "stealing" a telephone order from the other (not that it matters, but that wasn't the case). They didn't seem to care that I was standing there. I actually thought they might get into a physical fight at one point. Overall my experience was great! I recently purchased a couch from Ashley, and I unlike some of the other reviewers have had a pretty good experience on the sales floor. I had my movers, Two Men and a Truck, pick up my couch instead of being charged the $70 fee to have Ashley deliver it. The men in the warehouse were also very nice, friendly and showed me the couch before packing it back up. When we returned home the movers unpacked the couch and my family and I began to move it into place when I noticed a large piece of wood sticking out of the back of the couch. We called Ashley to ensure that this piece was to come off and they told us it was put on for shipping purposes and we should remove the wood piece. My dad and boyfriend, both strong, fit guys, had an extremely hard time removing the three screws from the block and two of them broke of completey. After they finally removed the wood piece there was a tear in the under lining of the couch. We once again called Ashley to report the problem, as it was hidden damage that we weren't able to see at the warehouse. We were put through to the costumer services mangers voicemail and waited. I received a call three days later while at work and was unable to answer the phone, they called back again while I was on vacation, so I guess I'll give them credit for trying to contact me regarding my issue. I was able to call them back when I returned from vacation and I was told my the costumer service manager that since I picked up the furniture that I would have to bring it back to the Champaign store so they could assess it and POSSIBLY repair the damage. I was completely caught of guard, so much so I was speechless. The manager then asked if I'd like her to schedule that, to which I said and explained to her that my two door car wouldn't fit a couch which is why I hired a mover in the first place. She said, "ok" and was silent. I then asked what I needed to do if I later decided that I did want to have the couch assessed after I could make arrangements for transporting it. She informed I could call her or the Champaign store and let them know I was bringing the couch in to have the damage assessed. I ended that phone call completely in awe. So let me get this straight: I spent over $700 on a couch and because I didn't have it delivered I now have to bring the couch back to them for repair of damage that was done before I received said couch? And I'll also have to pick up the couch back up for the store after the assess it and possibly repair it. Terrible costumer service. I called them back to see if I could speak to anyone else about this, and asked if this was standard practice. I was told it was and that the costumer service manager was the person I needed to speak with. The lack of costumer service I've experienced is beyond me. I've spent over $1,000 on furniture at this store, which isn't a lot to them I'm sure, but it's a lot to me since I'm just starting out. My bad experience came in the length of time I waited for the bed I had purchased. It took them 6 weeks to get my mattress to the store. Not only did it take 6 weeks their pickup times are very inconvenient. I work the hours they allow for pickup and they weren't in any way willing to work with my schedule. So I reluctantly scheduled a time for my wife to pick up our new bed and was told over the phone that the pickup manager had to be present for liability reasons. I was also told they would tie down the mattress once they got it on the truck. Well that was a bold face LIE. My wife showed up on time and signed the paperwork they all they did was put the mattress on the truck and refused to tie it down even though we provided the ties ourselves. My wife was forced to tie the mattress down herself without any help from the furniture store and to make it worse it was 14 degrees outside and they wouldn't even show her how to use ratchet straps. By far the worst customer service I have experienced after having spent so much at a company. So be warned they will not go out of their way to help you at all. Having the loading manager there was useless considering he provided no help to my wife what a pathetic company. No I know or my family will ever be coming here ever again so thank you for showing me that other companies want our business much more then you do. YOUR COMPANY IS HORRIBLE! read more

I had a bad experience with Quality of the furniture and customer serice. We bought a Mattress last year with Ashley furniture and after few months we realised that it is not good and we are getting up with back pain every morning. I even had to take multiple xrays / MRI and took some physio therapy for my back. I was asked by my doctor to not to use that mattress. Ashely Furniture store gave us hard time in listening to our probem and the manager did not even call back even after leaving multiple voice mails and finally we were told that they cannot do anything about the mattress and they will not help us in this regard. read more

I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because I received excellent customer service when I went into the store. I am, however, extremely dissatisfied at this point. I ordered furniture on July 7th. I didn't receive them until August 16th. I was excited that they finally arrived only to find out that the sofa I ordered could not fit. I had to pay a 15% restocking fee for that one to be returned and select a replacement. I don't understand why I had to pay a restocking fee. How was I to know that the sofa wouldn't fit in my apartment?? The new sofa should be delivered tomorrow (October 4th) and they are now calling me the day before to tell me that it is damaged!!! Seriously Ashley?!?!? #annoyed So now my options are 1) have the damaged sofa delivered to my apartment while they order the parts and come back to fix it in my apartment or 2) have the damaged sofa delivered to my apartment while they order a replacement. I am happy that they are trying to resolve this issue but why should it take so long for me to get a few pieces of furniture delivered? And why is it that you are just notifying me of the damage the day before delivery? read more

I went into Ashley furniture to look at some desk. I was greeted by a nice young salesman who was named Nathan. The information and knowledge he knew about the furniture was helpful and appreciated. Another reason I bought was the fact he was not a push salesman he made me feel like he was there to help. Stay Away - expensive crap with a crap warranty Our sales experience was great. I forget the young man's name, but he was professional without being snooty and was knowledgeable about the products they offer. We purchased a really pretty and solid-looking bedroom set - financed it with their tempting no interest for 5 years credit card offer. The furniture arrived fairly quickly and there were only 5 or 6 areas with minor damage (should have been our first clue, but there's a restocking fee to return items). A year later, the bed broke in the middle of the night and we're still paying off. There was no reason for it to break (my husband and I together are less than 400 lbs and aren't really jumping on the bed types. A king size bed should be able to handle us). We looked underneath it and saw that the side rails were just fiber board glued together and had fallen apart 14 months after arriving in our home. By some miracle, we had purchased the extended warranty (we don't usually) and have now been sleeping on the floor for three weeks while waiting to get it replaced. The warranty company finally let us know today that they will ask Ashley to replace our side rails, but we will have to purchase a separate warranty on those rails since they aren't a part of our original purchase. These new rails are most likely still poorly made out of fiber board and will only last another year. Sounds like a rip off to me... Morals of the story: 1) The furniture is poorly made; it may look nice, but it's crap. 2) The furniture will only last a month past the last day of the store's one-year warranty; so you need an extended warranty. 3) If you buy the extended warranty, it will be slow going and you will have to buy a second warranty for any replacement crap, I mean, items. 4) Go somewhere else and spend $6,000 on quality furniture instead of crap. Then you won't have to worry about warranties. If this furniture had been super cheap, I wouldn't be upset. I have seen a lot of negative reviews about Ashley and not sure why. Let me phrase it this way furniture is not made like it was back in the day and nothing wears well these days unless you spend a ton of money and who does that. I went back in July with parent as she needed a kitchen set. She has a hard time walking and the salesman immediately got a chair and spoke to my mom asked her questions on what she was looking for and got to know her needs. He was not pushy and explained all the items she could get but she didn't need to get all of them but was explained items in the collection. She has a hard time walking, but John Circelli our salesman was very patient. He gave us a number of delivery dates that were open and he made the delivery process very easy. The items came when promised/ the delivery team I have to say we're not the best and once the set was set up the delivery guys left immediately and mom was not thrilled with the chairs as she felt they were too big, but we signed off on the delivery. We called John explained the situation and he reached out to his manager which he called us that same day and gave us options and within 2 days we had replacement chairs that fit our needs better. All items were delivered with no damage. I had one issue with a chair and the warranty company is replacing the chair no questions asked. I know some people have bad experiences at stores but that happens everywhere and being in customer service related field I know that people post all bad reviews when they have the experience, but people that have a good experience tend to overlook it and don't post a review. I see a lot of bad reviews, but Ashely is a huge company and I sure they deliver and sell a lot more than the reviews posted and if everyone posted reviews I believe Ashely would have a higher rating. I see a lot of bad reviews over the past few months but have to remember we have a pandemic and a lot of reps are not in the office and was explained that by John (my rep) and his manager so I know reaching someone would be hard and delivery times could change and availability could change but I have seen that everywhere so this is not isolated to Ashley and we all need to calm down. My rep gave me an alt number to call the store and I had never had an issue and all my concerns were addressed immediately. I would recommend this store and I had gone to the Downers Grove Location and worked with John Circelli and he was an exceptional salesman and went above and beyond to help my mom. read more

First time I went on it took forever to get someone's attention and I wasn't thrilled so I left. Decided to try again and next time they got to me quicker and helped me and I found exactly what I was looking for. Would give 4 stars except they sucked first go around! read more
