The delivery men scratched the wall in a few places, leaving crimson dents as proof, and marred the couch, but at least now I have a new couch. I called to ask why it smells like stale sweat. If you are looking for even marginally good customer service do not shop at this store. I was told that the computer desk I wanted cam with the hutch and the price on the desk was for the set. Once the hutch showed up without the desk, I called the store and they basically sad it would be difficult to return and they suggested I just by the desk. I decided to wait for my girlfriend to get back in town so she could decide what to do. We decided we just wanted to return the item which was $299.00, the receptionist told me they would be glad to do that but they would have to get authorization from their corporate office and there would be a $50.00 delivery pick up fee, and a 30% restocking fee so basally I would get about $160.00 back. I decided to call the corporate office and the lady on the phone certinly had an attitude as soon as i mentioned a return. She informed me that I needed to return the item within 72 hours and since it had bee 3 weeks they would not take it back no exceptions as it is in your contract. Bottom line is I have a hutch that i need to find a desk for, but I refuse to get it from Ashley Furniture. I will never spend my money there again.. read more

I had a great experience at Ashley Furniture in Gaithersburg. Roderick was exceptional with his professional yet personal customer service skills. I needed specific things, as I just became a homeowner, and he was more than helpful throughout the process. He facilitated the experience by finding me just the right style and size furniture. The store itself was clean and offered a lot of inventory. The management was also helpful in ensuring delivery, taxes, and the final price was just right. I will be continuing to shop at this location even though there is another location closer to my new residence simply because of the great customer support from the Gaithersburg team. read more

This is the worst Ashley's Furniture I've ever shopped in, and I generally always go to an Ashley's first when I'm searching. But this one had bad overall customer service. When I first went there, it seemed great and I was helped by a nice associate, but when I came back the next day to actually make the purchase, the cost of the items were "suddenly" $20+ more than what she had quoted me the day before (during the same sale). I continued to purchase because at this point I was committed, and that's when the bad service really began once I was passed off to the folks doing the actual purchases/returns behind the counter. They were extremely rude and unhelpful with the questions and concerns I had and didn't do anything at all to make it easier for the sale to go through. After finally making the purchase, I was told 2 of my items were in the store but the other 2 would have to be ordered so it would take 2-6 weeks for shipping. At week 7 I called to see where my items were, as no one had ever contacted me, and was told the 2 items seemed to be on backorder and would not arrive for another 4 weeks. There was no way I was waiting an additional month when no movement had yet occurred so I requested a refund. The manager told me I would have to return to the store in person the get the refund since, for some reason, they could not just refund my card directly. (This is, of course, wonderful news to hear when you don't own a car, were renting one for the weekend of the original purchase, and live over 50 miles away.) But I wasn't going to leave $500 on the table so I borrowed a car and went to the store to get my refund. When I did, not once did the manager-on-duty apologize for the issue or try to make the process easy. Once again, horrible customer service. The first thing he asked was why I wanted a refund and if someone had called me and told me the items weren't coming in. I told him it had been 7 weeks and I had heard nothing so I no longer wanted to wait. Then he asked if he could interest me in another product instead. Never did words of apology pass his lips until I basically pulled them out of him later in the conversation. The rest of the situation followed much the same without any bright spot as far as I'm concerned. If there had been a little more customer appreciation, I may have decided to get something else instead, but after this situation, I wanted nothing more to do with this store. read more

UPDATE: If i could go down to zero stars, I would at this point. After a customer service representative said I would be receiving a new media center, the two delivery man came and said that customer service had only ordered a replacement piece. To make matters worse, they had order the wrong piece. The delivery men were not allowed to take what I had back. So I called customer service again, extremely aggravated. The woman on the phone kept trying to tell me that she couldn't find the piece I was describing, even though I've physically pointed it out to the representatives at the store. And of course because the manager isn't in today, she would have to describe the situation to the rep that originally handled my order then wait for the manager to come in tomorrow so they could address the issue. To be 100% honest, it's a very beautiful piece and I would still like to have it in my home, but this whole experience has been completely unacceptable. I was just in the store looking for other living room furniture, but after this experience I do not think i'll ever go back. With the holidays coming up, it looks like it won't be resolved until January. Keep in mind that I order this at the end of October. read more

I purchased a leather couch, ottoman and dining room table from Ashley Furniture that I thought I was getting for a great price. The couch and table looked beautiful and I was so excited to get them delivered. My first bad experience - one of the guys who delivered the furniture got into a fight with my mom when he set up the couch differently than how I had asked him to and my mom asked him to change it. He was so aggressive in the way he was arguing with my mother that we just hid in the kitchen until they were done because we were really uncomfortable. As a result, we didn't get to inspect the furniture before they left. We realized the day after that there was a slight rip in the side of the couch. We basically had to argue and fight like hell with various people and levels of management for the company to agree to send a replacement sofa which wouldn't come in for quite some time. In the meantime, other problems started to come up with both the sofa and the table that basically indicated that the items were of poor quality. When we tried to return the items, we were told that we could not. They kept referencing the warranty we purchased. And we kept explaining that even though we had warranty, we did not want to keep furniture that we would have to keep calling the warranty company about because it was obviously not good quality stuff. Luckily my mother was able to work with someone named Fatima at the main office (since no one at the store was helping us out) who said we could exchange our provided great customer service. If I was rating her only, I would give her 5 stars. We did not find anything we liked at Ashley so she allowed us to look at their sister stores (Marlowe and I believe Wolf). We still could not find anything we liked so Fatima was finally able to give us our money back minus a $150 restocking fee. She was so nice and helpful and was the ONLY person who was courteous and willing to work with us until we were satisfied. I would never buy furniture from Ashley again, simply due to the fact that if there is an issue with your product, you will have to fight tooth and nail to get your money back and even then you will still be losing money because you will end up having to pay a restocking fee - even though the issues are with their products. read more

I have had a horrible experience with their customer service. I keep calling them and being on hold for over 15 mins just to speak with someone who gives me the number for someone else...and so on and so on. Someone did ended up calling me back and leaving me a voicemail of which not a word can be clearly understood. Therefore, no call back number extension. Called back customer service and talked to a rude representative that kept cutting me off in the middle of my sentences to tell me someonething that I already know and that was not related to my question, because she never bothered to actually listed to it. If I would have known I would go through all this trouble to get my furniture delivered I would have ordered from somewhere else. The sales person in the Gaithersburg store was very helpful. The delivery service was not, as they were not able to navigate the stairwell and therefore, had to return the furniture. I was very disappointed and called the store and spoke with Candace to advise about the service and to request a refund. I was advised to send pictures of my stairwell and the manager would secure another company to deliver the furniture. I send the pictures to Mackun@ashleyhs.com and had to send another email to confirm receipt. I have made several phone calls and send emails, and to date, I do not have a status update. My preference now is for a refund. After reading the YELP and BBB reviews, I am concerned about the quality of the furniture and the lack of customer service follow-up. The good: there are plenty of staff around to ask questions of and most are friendly; parking is ample and location is good-sized and easy to find. Delivery was reasonable and fast (3 days). Delivery men were very professional and quick. The bad: Some staff are not very friendly (e.g., they just do the basics to get by, especially the counter staff who ring up customers). Floor staff woman that helped me was a little overzealous -- she asked me three times if I needed help (Lesson: sometimes a customer just wants to browse and will come to you when they have a question). When I did have questions, she certainly tried to answer them and was very nice, but she was not very familiar with the inventory or the prices and mostly just referred to the store website on her tablet (while I accessed identical information on my phone). She also unintentionally misinformed me about the bed I did end up buying (which there was no floor model for) by telling me only the headboard varied from one of the same style (when in fact, there was also a massive difference in the height of the footboard). I didn't know this until it was literally delivered to my house and assembled - and there wasn't much to be done at that point. Overall feedback is that management needs to train sales associates about the following: 1) Inventory (availability, styles, differences between styles, materials used in products) -- simply having associates stand there and struggle to look for information on a tablet is frustrating for everyone. 2) Prices (staff should be informed about sale prices, online prices, available discounts, etc).) 3)Client services (how to approach customers, how to read them and assess their needs) read more

If your furniture arrived perfect, consider yourself lucky! The day after getting married, my husband and I purchased a sofa from here. After it arrived, someone pointed out a few cuts and what looked like a cigarette burn on the sofa. We purchased a warranty for it, but it had only been a week and the piece arrived damaged. I called a week later to schedule a repair. For the next six or seven months, I would call and receive a reply along the lines of "we'll put in a repair ticket and call you back." But it never happened. Finally, the manager answers when I call and says that they don't cover cigarette burns, implying that we caused the burn ourselves. We're not even sure the burn was from a cigarette, but they denied any repairs. As for the fact that none of the employees gave me accurate information or a call back, the manager said she would try to address the problem. What's strange is that almost every bad review of the store lists a similar experience of never getting correct info or a call back. What a coincidence? Also, the sofa is misshapen after only a few months, so the you can rule out quality and durability as well. read more

This store has the worst customer service ever. After constantly calling about the status of my delivery and being told "another two weeks,". I went to the store to get a status update. They had been sitting on 3/4 of the order for a month because 1 piece was missing. I finally get the items delivered and one was damaged. I had to go back to the store to do the cancellation because it could not be done over the phone, which took another few hours because the manager was not there. It was an awful experience. I AGREE WITH Karla Q..."Don't do it. Don't buy a thing from here- in fact, don't even walk into this store. Terrible experience and horrendous customer service. They are outright rude, have no sense of urgency and care zero percent about their customers. If you purchase furniture from here, expect not to get it for months. Also, expect it to be damaged upon arrival and expect to send it back... Best of all, they do not care at all if you're inconvenienced and give you very little information on anything. They don't want to make it right or remedy the situation, you will be brushed off by every single person you talk to." Everyone is courteous and will make you all sort of promises regarding delivery time because they need the sale but afterwards when they already took your money you're just another number. I would definitely not recommend shopping here. Stopped by and was greeted by Marvin. He stated that everything was 40% off. After following us around, he said his manager would give us an additional 10%, making it 50% off. We saw an item we liked and we wanted to check out other places before making a purchase. He then said he could do another 10% off, making it 60% off but we would have to purchase it at that moment. We decided we didn't want to purchase right away without thinking it over and comparing other options. He seemed very disappointed and his whole attitude changed. After thinking it over for a few hours, we called back and he asked his manager if he could honor the price still. We arrived and took a final look on the bed set and we agreed on it. When asking about delivery, he mentioned that we would have to pick it up from their warehouse.... in Middle River (about an hour away). They could deliver it for $150 and in install so we just said yes. We explained to him that we move in on Sunday and he said they don't do Sunday deliveries. So we said Monday and said he would double check and then later told us Monday would be great. $900 later after my card was swiped, the receptionist told us the delivery would be the following Monday, which was never stated to us. Marvin then rudely said, "You heard the date, didn't you" I regret giving this guy commission. Very rude. Shout out to the manager for the price hook-up. I came to Ashley's to get a sofa to match my new paint in my home. The day it was supposed to be delivered , I didn't get to the door in time. I felt that was not fair because the drivers gave me no time to get to the door. I called up the Ashley's and spoke to a very pleasant person name Candice , she listened to me rant on and on about how I didn't not get to my door in time. This process has been a DISASTER. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS STORE. I went into the store to purchase a couch (I was ready to pick one up the day I arrived, but they did not have many of the couches I saw online). I then decided to order one of the online items through a salesmen from the store. He for some reason could not get my information (i.e. phone and email etc.) so I had to give it to him 3 times. I then had to sit around for 30 minutes before I was able to pay over $1,000 dollars for my item. As I was checking out I was told 2 of the 3 pieces were in stock and I would have to wait on one, but was told and under the impression two pieces would ship and then I would receive the 3rd later. This was a lie. So I have been sitting on my floor waiting for this couch that they told me 2 pieces would come and i'd only have to wait for the 3rd piece. The salesmen also couldn't tell me which part of the sectional sofa is the longer closed off side, so that will be a surprise! They actually called my roommate, not me, with shipping details two days after the purchase, which they said would be about 3 weeks for the final piece to get to their warehouse. I have called once a week checking in and was told it would be delivered end of December (also when they say delivered they mean to the warehouse not you, ha!) I called today and spoke with Crystal who was rude throughout the call. She said the shipping had been changed two weeks later (I wonder when I would've gotten this update had I not called). She tried to call other stores, but none had it so instead of helping, said I would have to wait, and it wasn't their fault the shipping had changed (maybe don't tell me it will be end of December if there's a chance it'll change). I would've gone ANYWHERE else for a couch if I knew this would happen. When I asked if she could ship the two pieces in stock now, she said it would be the shipping ~$150 for that instead of offering free shipping after this whole thing which they've messed up. Like others, this store makes me wish I could give negative star ratings. The sales person, Jennifer, was wonderful - she found furniture that fit our needs, had a great eye for style, and negotiated a price. But, that is where it ends. For delivery, the buyer agrees to set a date with the delivery company. That was done and I took a vacation day from work to receive the delivery. The afternoon before delivery I was told I owed $256 for delivery fees. This was their error as all fees were paid at purchase. I was given a number to "straighten it out". Three phone calls later (20 minute waits on hold), I was given mixed messages regarding if they cancelled the delivery purchase and if they straightened out the finances. I had no idea! I called trusty Jennifer who assured me that she'd have the Ashley's manager straighten it out and get back to me. No return call. I called the store twice more and got reassurances that corporate was working on it and I'd have an answer. They promised to straighten it out and call me to confirm. No return call. Today, I am sitting at home waiting for my furniture. At 2:34PM, Zilla calls and informs me that they prefer to bring the furniture another day. We discussed, she placed me on hold several times, and hung up on me once. Apparently Lorena is the face behind the secret "corporate". She doesn't answer her calls or check her emails. At this point, all I want is my money refunded. They want me to come to the store to get the refund. Huh, don't buinesses refund credit cards without making a personal appearance,...I live 3 hours away. They can't phone refunds without the infamous Lorena's approval. Lorena (if she exists) appears to have no interest in customer service. I have done over 50 yelp reviews and this place is uniquely the worst I experience!!! Worst experience ever -out of all the options I ended up here- I bought furniture for my new house and work with Daisy (Sales Rep), I was advise the furniture will take two weeks, after 4 weeks from the original purchased I called and check the status I was informed one of the couch is still pending for delivery to their warehouse I asked to speak to the store manager over the phone and told me I had to come to the store and talk to her in person I left my phone and advise them to call me back in the next 30minutes -I was very upset- well after 2 I called the store again and talked to the manager she said "your order could take up to 6 weeks and we still in the window, if you want us to delivery what we have in the warehouse you will be responsible for the delivery charge of $100" so I decided to wait the other two weeks well after three weeks called them again and they didn't know what to say about my order the lady on the phone told me she will call me back in two days since she was off the next day I asked her to call me back in less than an hour, then Pedro (former supervisor) called me and explain that my coach still not coming and at this point I have two choices get my money back or wait for the coach!! How easy they tried to resolve issues and I am not willing to wait until the coach makes it to their warehouse I asked him to delivery what they have for my order and he said I will waived the delivery fee for the wait of time I was like that is the least thing you can do for me I had spoke to the store manager and she lied to me saying it will take less than six weeks now I am looking to wait up to 12weeks for a couch!! What a dishonest way to do business lying to customers I contacted Ashley Corporate and was informed that this is store is owned and managed not from corporate and what do you meant with this? I wish I could give this organization zero stars because it's an actual zero. It hard to believe I order a small piece of furniture in April and still have not received and update on the status. This company does not even inform its customers on delays or anything regarding their purchase. It amazing they are still in business as they rob customers of funds without providing a product in sufficient time. It's been more than twelve weeks and I am still being told the product has not arrived to a place where they can provide tracking. The staff is EXTREMELY incompetent and cannot provide any information regarding your product. I almost regret coming here because I could have furnished two homes at another company before this one couch arrives. DO NOT SHOP AT ASHLEYS FURNITURE. This is a poor organization with terrible customer service. If you want their product get it through Marlo because you'll never see it if you order through this store. It appears that I am not the only one with an awful experience at this store. Beware. Just go to Ikea. I have wasted a ridiculous amount of time contacting this store and their warehouse. I am so very disappointed in the customer service in this store and in Ashley Furniture as a whole. I bought a brand new couch which was damaged upon arrival, literally the couch cushion doesn't fit, springs coming out of the bottom, a total disaster. The warehouse stated it was a manufacturers defect after seeing photos, the repair man noted the same thing, reporting the springs were put on the wrong way and the frame damaged, saying that it should be replaced. Even with that, they want to attempt a repair instead of replacing the couch. That is just not acceptable. The staff at the warehouse placed me on hold for 30 minutes at a time, not having any idea what to say or who to talk to, the staff at the store were rude upon contacting, they even went as far as to say that the repairman was fired, they did not offer any resolution and have been unavailable and unhelpful. I will continue to attempt to result this issue, but please reconsider before shopping here. read more

Stay away! They don't have a clue as to how to properly treat customers. I bought a 4 piece set, where they had 3 pieces in stock. Because the total was over the limit they had free delivery for the 3 pieces. They said they had to charge me $150 for the fourth piece as it was being delivered at a different time, it was back ordered. I decided not to take the fourth piece until they delivered it free of charge. We finally worked it out, when I decided to leave the store and look at other stores. They then promised a morning delivery and of Course the day before the delivery was scheduled they called and said it would be between 1 - 5. If I wanted to reschedule it would cost me another $ 150 and they would not guarantee a morning delivery. Never again! Fool me once Ashley, won't happen again read more

Bought a bed for my son on february 18th, was a twin xl. They told me maximum 6 weeks delivery time. Probably much faster. First ETA was March 16th, then a week later they moved it to March 26th. I call them end of March asking for ETA then they telling me April 6th, Starting to get a bit frustrated now. Asking the woman at Ashley's in Gaithersburg to please contact the manufacturer to get a time when it will be delivered. Nothing happens. Calling Ashleys again this time they say April 13th, now bed comes, next date April 26th, still no bed. new ETA May 4th... Gave up canceled this and I will never buy anything from Ashleys again. I've read good things about Ashley and thought I'd stop to look at sofas. Rashad helped me pick out the best deal in the store. Love seat and sofa have motor powered seats for both. After reviewing the rest of the store I came back to this for the incredible sale of $800 each vs $2450 each. Heidi was very nice and professional checking me out. Very pleased w the visit and many employees around Correction- as you can read above that went well. 1.5 months later I only have 1 of the power sofas ordered, and they dropped it in the snow soaking 1 side wet. Rashad ordered 2 of the same sofa vs the love seat he showed me next to the sofa. At time of delivery he immediately accuses me of wanting it vs his mistake. The African girl at the store taking calls couldn't even say the word love seat, all around terrible English. The manager was suppose to call me and 4 days later I just called the store to see what's happening. I was also suppose to receive a call when they received the old one and schedule the new delivery, no call. I'm expecting to have to wait another month+ w 1 missing couch. They lied up front and said I'd have the couches in 1-2 weeks. They didn't even call to discuss delivery until 2 weeks after purchase. Then led me on next week, next week, twice. They gave me a good price and a leather couch because it was last year's model when they were trying to clear it off the floor. It's good quality. The only complaint that I have is the delivery people left the door open and my cat got out that took me forever to find him. There's a reason this stores ratings are so low the customer associates (not all of them) but particularly the lady in charge of answering phones is extremely rude and unprofessional. The store tells you you will receive your furniture in 8-12 weeks but I promise you you won't. After my 12th week I call the store and the lady on the phone says it's actually 10 weeks so they also can't do basic math and wanted to argue with me that's it's hasn't been 12 weeks even tho it has and I had receipts to prove it. They will use the "covid fluctuations" excuse but they won't say that to you when your purchase it. Also naturally as a customer that was told something but got something else I was frustrated and instead of apologizing and trying to understand where I was coming from the same lady hung up on me like a child. Long story short if your in need of a couch and can't wait over a year for it don't buy from this store, very poor customer service. read more
