Don't let Donna D. in the Northridge, CA store help you. She doesn't know her stuff and is very rude! I spent a lot of time in the store with her looking for a new sofa, love seat and chair. She started out by asking me to pull up pictures of the sets I had found online while she quickly ran to the bathroom. She was gone 20+ minutes! I had very specific questions that she should have known the answers to but she didn't and couldn't be bothered getting anyone to answer them for her. For example, one of the fabric's I was interested in was microfiber. I asked her several different ways how to tell what it was and where I could find the info on that item to verify and all she would do is touch it and tell me you can tell from how it feels. She showed me several that I knew darn well were not microfiber because I had already researched those online. It ended up a tossup between 2 sets and I told her I was going to think about it overnight and come back the next day. She gave me her business card and literally told me to contact her any time. Her card had a cell number on it and her hours. I texted her when her workday started telling her I found a better deal online but would buy from her if she could beat the price. Her reply called me by the wrong name but she said she would beat the price and also give me a $50 gift card. She asked me to reply "yes" to a text I was going to get to schedule an appointment with her. I never got that text and didn't hear back from her for an hour when she told me she found out she could meet but not beat the price. I replied asking if I would still get the $50 gift card. Her unprofessional and rude reply said she couldn't be on the phone all the time! PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! I have had the worst experience ever! I purchased a dining table and chairs to go along with it. I received my chairs about a week after I ordered them online. I received a message that I would have my table delivered about a week later. The day comes and I am excited to finally get my table. Nobody shows up or even bothered to call me to tell me they wouldn't deliver my table. I was at home waiting for the table for hours, I even left work early. I call the next day and they reschedule and the day comes and again no call no show, this happened 6 times!! 6!! I cancelled so many plans and left work early all 6 times just to be at home for when they delivered it. Oh and by the way their customer service is horrible they did not help at all, one of the representatives actually hung up on me. You won't believe how many times I had to call them, keep in mind the hold is about 30 minutes. The last time I called they finally told me that the table is backordered! Why didn't they tell me this in the first place instead of giving me a delivery date 6 different times. I still have not received my table and its been over a month now. I told them they had to compensate me for this and they only discounted $85 which is totally not fair after they did this to me 6 times. They still don't know when the table will be available but yet one of the representatives said they had a few in the warehouse, they all say they will call you back with further information and never do they just want to get rid of you. Let me begin by saying, I have vowed to NEVER step foot into another Ashley store after what I experienced with their previous furniture insurance company, Guardsman. In 2014, I bought the whole living room deal, couches, tables, rugs, decorations, and etc. The employee insisted we buy the insurance because the couches we bought were faux leather and when it starts to peel/bubble we can have the insurance come out and fix it. Deal! Sound really good to me so we bought it. A year later I noticed the leather started bubbling but nothing to big. Now in 2017, the bubbles have finally ripped and my couch looks like shit. So I called the insurance company, sent them all the pictures and documentation. They contacted me a week later and said we don't cover any of those damages...You can only imagine how pissed I was to buy $100 insurance for 5 years and just to be told they only cover parts and pieces but not the material ALTHOUGH my paperworks states they cover rips/bubbles/tears. So I had to contact Ashley's corporate and they offered me in-store credit because they don't make my couch anymore. We were in need of a TV stand so we went in to see what they had, very nice TV stands. The one with the fireplace and built in heater caught my attention. I met the manager Jose when he gave me the measurements of the stand then he introduced me to Daniel and told me if I purchase something with Daniel he'll give me $50 off. So, we ended up buying the fireplace and Daniel offered the insurance to me and I explained my story to him and why I was even in there and he told me they have a new insurance company and felt bad for me so he told Jose and Jose gave me the insurance for free to prove to me they changed and they were sorry for everything I went through. And that is what superb customer service looks like! I appreciate Jose for being an awesome manager and Daniel for taking his time walking around with us, actually caring about us as a consumers, and making sure I get the best deal possible. I don't live in Northridge but I would drive back to this location and make another purchase with Daniel! The people who work on the floor to sell were really nice but those customer service people need to get some sort of training on how to greet customers and basic common courtesy. If you can't get along with people please don't work in a customer service job. Came in to purchase a mattress for Black Friday. Was told if we purchased a Tempurpedic mattress we could get whatever bed-frame for free. We thought this was such a great deal. Went ahead and purchased our mattress and chose our bed-frame. Mattress was delivered in 1 week with a temporary metal frame as the bed-frame we choose was back ordered for 1 month. 1 month later still no bed frame. It's now FEBRUARY STILL NO BED-FRAME. My husband called in to see what was happening bed-frame was now backordered until the end of MARCH. My husband decided to go in store to speak with a manager and let's just say the STORE MANAGER needs help with customer service as he was being very unprofessional and sarcastic with my husband. We ended up choosing a different bed -frame because we wanted the headache over with. We wanted anything delivered right away. Today we get a call at 7:30am the delivery will be made in 30 minutes it's now 5 hours later and still nothing. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Top 5 reasons why I loathe Ashley's HomeStore: 1. The minute I walk in to this place I get bumrushed by pushy commission-hungry salesmen. Being attentive and helpful is good but there is a balance you should strive for without being too pushy. It's 100% clear they only care about making a sale (whether it's right for you or not) as they stalk you throughout the store. 2. I found an outdoor set that I rather liked and was urged to buy it because they were "on sale" at a very low price. Then the salesman goes through the whole song and dance scheme of getting the manager to come over to give an even lower price. They are really big on theatrics of this sort that may work on some people thinking they are getting an amazing deal. Long story short: they told me the set was $2500 but they knocked it down to $1300 due to the "manager's special" but afterwards I went online and found a similar set for $600. It seems they do the stereotypical raising of the price to "reduce" it to make you think you're getting an amazing deal when you are actually getting the regular price. 3. I ended up buying a couple chairs here that were "on sale" but 1 month passed and the chairs never came. I had to call them and ask them before they told me they were back ordered on that item for 4 months! If I hadn't called they never would have contacted me!! Anyways that got me looking and I found similar chairs online and they sold for the same price despite not being "on sale" like Ashely. More proof that they raise prices to pretend like they are reduced for you. What kind of company sells an item that is not only back ordered but they do not even tell the customer about the back order? 4. When I called to cancel my order with them they wouldn't do it over the phone. They make you go back in to their store to cancel a back ordered item. On top of that when I arrived in store and told them I wanted to return an item, the once pushy salesman then become aloof and absent. It seems they only want to help you when you're paying them a commission. 5. The dark haired lady at customer service who handled my return was terrible. I walk up to the counter and 3 ladies were just talking to each other while I stood there waiting. I tried being patient but after a minute I had to interrupt them in order for them to help me. The lady who handled my return took my info then asked me to sit down in the waiting area. WTF? How long does it take to do a return? I was the only customer there. So I waited. Then another customer strolls in and starts asking lady 2 some questions. My return lady then chimes in on her own and starts talking with the other customer, meanwhile I'm waiting. After a couple minutes I had to standup and loom over her before she went back to working on my return. Why don't you finish helping customers and let them move on with their day before you help customers that comes in afterwards? She has no respect for customers time. She was working 1/27/2019. These are the kind of people working in their CUSTOMER SERVICE of all places. TLDR: I was drawn in by the cheap prices but trust me you can find cheaper and better quality elsewhere. And on top of that their customer service is terrible. On the whole if you google reviews it seems they are pretty poor quality furniture as well. I am so disappointed in my recent experience with Ashley Furniture. I purchased a sectional, a $6,000 sectional, about 2 years ago. The arm on the sectional is literally wearing off. I had purchased the extended warranty, at the assistance of the manager, and was told when I called it wasn't covered. The store sent out a tech and determined it was a manufacturing issue. I figured they would replace the arm and all would be good...never that easy! The sectional has been "discontinued" and there was nothing they could do. They gave us a credit of under $200, which is 10% of the purchase of THAT piece. Bottom line...that covers that piece...what about the $6,000 couch that looks like crap because of the arm? They should have made it right. If they discontinued furniture every few years what good is the warranty? We recently purchased a dining room set for over $2,500. This was prior to getting the results of the "tech visit". I won't purchase from Ashley again. I needed a small L-shaped couch for my incredibly small living room and Ashely happened to have one that was the right size. Trust me, I tried looking elsewhere. Maybe I should have looked harder. They should play the theme from "Jaws" when you walk into this place. From the first minute you walk in the door, a salesperson will follow you. Even if you tell them you're just looking, they will follow you. Maybe I'm Jesus? All I know is they follow you. If you look too long at an item, sit on an item, they are instantly schmoozing you. It was very, very uncomfortable. The sofa arrived on time, but the team that "assembled" it was rather brutal, tossing around pillows and scratching the hardwood floor. Not good. I've had the sofa for about four months now. The cushions are already losing their resilience and shape. The fabric is rippling. We walked into ashleys and got a great deal for a California King mattress, and a Bedroom set. On the day of the delivery, who ever ashleys contracted with delivery service with, was horrible. The gentlemen didn't speak English, assembled the furniture outside and scratched it and then brought it in, and on top of that they didn't wear gloves when they put the mattress on the bed so we had their fingerprints all over the bed. I told them i am not going to sign the papers and to take everything back they stood their for 15 minutes and one guys just kept saying "sign boss". I was like are you kidding me. I called ashley's and with their superb customer service, tole me just sign the papers and we will replace the bed room furniture and mattress. It gets better!!! I signed the papers, and in about a week my replacement furniture came, it was delivered by another group but these guys seemed to know what they were doing. However the replacement set was in worse condition than the original. I called ashleys again, and informed that the furniture was sent back and they said that a technician will come out and fix the current bedroom set. When the technician arrived he informed us as a fyi that our bed is defective and that it is sinking but he couldn't fix it because he was here for the bedroom furniture only. So after a 4 weeks span having two mattress technicians and me having to keep calling ashleys customer service line, we are finally getting a new mattress. He was very thorough with helping locate the perfect bed within my budget. I mentioned to him my problem with the last delivery and how one of my furniture pieces was delivered broken. John didn't waste any time to call over the manager Luis. Luis listened to my story and was very empathetic. Without asking, he set up a furniture swap and even discounted my new bed and even waived delivery. If that's not making it right, I don't know what is. I'm walking out of this store verry happy. We were also told it would take a month or so because of covid. In April when we called we were told it would be here in the beginning of June. If you are making a large purchase ($1,000 or more), be prepared to be at the store for at least two hours. There are a lot of details that you will be required to address. Your sales representative will have to walk to and fro the sales counter and where you are standing. Just looking for nothing specific I fell in love with a table they had there. So much so that I called my fiancé and told her to meet me there stat. She too fell in love with the table and it just so happened that the gentleman who was helping us was willing to talk down the savings. I will not upgrade my star rating because my Ashley HomeStore experience still is a nightmare. Below is an update on the 2 primary issues with my Ashley Homestore purchase. First issue with the damaged Up Foundation: Ashley HomeStore Headquarters in Wisconsin assigned David Valdivieso (SoCal Division Customer Care Manager), who came out personally to inspect the non-functioning Up Foundation. David verified that the foundation was not functioning correctly, re-ordered a new one, and set up delivery based on my schedule. The new Up Foundation was installed August 27 and I now have a fully functional bed set. Second Issue with the the second delivery team damaging my home: Regarding the damaged matte painted wall, the In-Home Damage team(Massimo Aiello, Claims Manager, Of Service Transportation from Delivering Service FIRST! Claims Department) offered $200 for the damage to my matte painted walls. In addition, the In-Home Damage Team sent out an appraiser on August 20th, who didn't give the In-home Claim team an estimate because the appraiser couldn't find my bamboo flooring. So, the In-Home Damage team felt that pulling a random number of $200 would cover the damages because someone told them we can use paint thinner to fix the scuff marks they made on our bamboo flooring without damaging the coating. I do not agree with this as the cracked floor panel and scuff-marks are in the middle of the room and right side of a greater than 800 sqft master bedroom and in order to get a seamless finish, the appraiser said he would have to redo the whole flooring. $200 alone would not cover REAL bamboo flooring material, let alone the labor for the work. For example I found the almost exact bamboo flooring at Lowe's for $4.99/sqft, so for a 800 sqft room the material would cost at least $3992. I do not agree with their settlement offer for the flooring because there is no basis for that estimate and merely was to cover our "inconvenience". I want the In-Home Damage team to PROPERLY ASSESS and provide REALISTIC estimates to fix my flooring because it was not damaged before their delivery team arrived. The In-Home Damage Team is refusing to provide adequate funds to address their mistakes and I am still dealing with them. Lack of customer service!!!! Was in the store for about 15 minutes walking around sitting on couches, etc. Not 1 salesperson/employee cared to greet or approach me despite the large and surprising number of employees/managers on the floor. HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!!! Northridge store. Do not shop there!!!! I will NEVER step foot in any Ashley store again. From the minute you walk in you have the hungry sales people following you around. After I browsed and I decided on a dining room set, I got my paperwork and delivery date. A few days later I got a call from their warehouse with a deliver date. On the the day of deliver I got a call letting me know that their truck broke down. We have to reschedule for another date. The next day they call me with a new date and time - so once again I make arrangements to be home. The day came and no delivery. I called to get a status on my delivery but now they aren't sure when our furniture will be delivered because the computer is showing that it's out of stock!! I called the store to speak to a manager and he asked for the account info and tells me he will call me back. Guess what, never got a call back from the manager. At this point I'm over this store and Im ready to cancel. I call again and they won't cancel over the phone. They need me to come in to cancel. Ashley has the worse customer service. No one cared to fix the issue. No one cared enough for my business so I cancelled and I will pass the word along that this store and their staff is garbage. read more
