Walking into the Ashley Store in Ocala felt like stepping into a world where the official color palette is grey, beige, and cream... and absolutely nothing is allowed to misbehave outside of that range. They call the style "accessible contemporary," which I understand in theory. Clean lines. Neutral tones. Modern farmhouse touches. It is designed to be safe, inoffensive, and easy to place in almost any home. But here is where I pause. I am not entirely sure how "accessible" it really is. If you are shopping for a full bedroom set, you are still looking at roughly $3,500 and up, which seems to be the going rate across most furniture stores in Central Florida. In that sense, Ashley mirrors what just about everyone else is doing price wise, with the exception of Blocker's Furniture, which is operating in a completely different bracket and is almost twice as expensive. So while Ashley may be more mainstream, it is not exactly budget friendly. Then there is the modern farmhouse aesthetic that dominates the showroom. I understand that we are surrounded by farms in Central Florida. I get the regional influence. But I personally do not feel the need to bring the farmhouse inside my house. The sliding barn doors, the distressed finishes, the muted neutrals that feel like they were approved by a committee somewhere... it just does not speak to me. I also do not have children, so maybe that is part of the disconnect. A lot of what I see feels built for families who want durable, neutral, safe furniture that blends in and holds up to real life chaos. And if that is the target customer, then it probably makes perfect sense. For me, though, I walked through the showroom admiring the consistency and the scale, but wondering who exactly this is for. ordered online. faced difficulty every step of the way. financing approval received but order was declined because my old address was in the system and conflicted with new. when furniture was delivered the people delivering couldn't speak English and they wanted me to sign their phone but language was all foreign. they couldn't answer questions and couldn't change the language on the phone to English. We purchased a console from Ashley Furniture in Ocala, FL for our television at our new house and set up delivery for a couple months later since the house was under construction. At the time we gave the salesperson our new address but explained that it was not 'active' as yet due to home on that particular block were all being constructed. Plus we advised him that it was located inside a specific gated community in Ocala and one had to be specific in adding 'Road' to the end of our address. This was because there is another numbered address on the same named street - ending in 'Place - and if the delivery people went to that location they would wind up with 20-minute drive on a dirt road finding a vacant lot! As the closing date was approaching I contact three tradesmen for work at the house and also confirmed delivery of three separate items - including with Ashley Furniture. On a Tuesday morning we closed on the house and all of the workers who were hired to be there arrived later along with along with two of the three deliveries being made . . . except for Ashley Furniture! About 11am on that day my wife received a telephone call from a female whose English was hard to understand - but I got enough to know that she was with Ashley Furniture and the driver of the delivery truck was having a hard time finding our house. We did confirm that the address they claimed to be at ended in 'Place Road.' We specified the name of our new community and heard her relay this information to the driver - and she was told 'that's a big place' and wanting to know what end I was on. Three separate calls were 'relayed' from the driver to us back-and-forth and we even asked to have the driver to call us directly. We were then told that one-to-one communication wasn't allowed! At the end of the final call (to me) I told the driver a landmark where to go and I would wait there for the truck and lead them in. I then drove down to the site and waited approximately 25 minutes - until my wife called and said that the Ashley Furniture representative had said the driver was over his allotted 'time limit' for our delivery and he was moving on with his pre-arranged route. She was told that we would have to contact the Ocala store to make arrangements for another delivery date/time. Needless to say I tried to call the store and received no answer after the routine 'auto' voice asked me 20 questions in order to simply route my call through to the store itself. I heard it rung once and then the call was cancelled! With everything going on getting 'things' done at the new house I finally got time to make another call to to try and speak to anyone at the local store but, if you call the local store number, it routes you through to the customer service toll-free number and you have to put up with the automated voice and the same questions as before. On the third attempt I was finally able to speak to a representative at the store and was advised that next-day delivery wasn't possible as the 'truck come out of Tampa' and their schedule was already full. I then drove directly to there store and asked to speak with a manager. I explained the situation to 'the sales manager' and asked if anything could be done by Thursday (it being Tuesday) to have the tv console delivered. He pulled up the order on his computer and read the written documentation concerning the delivery debacle and said to me 'it looks like five people were involved' and that no one knew what the other was doing! He then called his overall manager (who was at lunch) and told her of the problem . . . asking if she could 'call your guy' to set up delivery by Thursday. I was then told I would receive a phone call from his manager about the problem 'within the hour.' When over 90 minutes had passed by I was lucky enough to play 20 question with the recording and was put through to the store. As luck would have it the 'big boss' answered the phone and I told her I had been promised she would call me within an hour of her speaking with her 'sales manager' . . . and also asked if delivery could be set by sometime Thursday. She told me that the soonest delivery could be attempted would be Saturday . . . much to my displeasure! After making these arrangements for Saturday - and again giving specific information about the 'Place Road' problem and direction to our house from a well-known landmark I left - quite displeased . . . !!! While the sale of the tv console went well . . . the problem comes with customer support. Once the driver knew he was in the wrong location contact should be made directly with the customer - and not relying on relying information through a third party who native tongue was definitely NOT English! We bought about $3500 worth of furniture from Ashley Furniture in Ocala last March. the rocker recliner we bought for my mother (who sleeps in the recliner) broke only three months later. We called customer service and explained the issue and they said no problem, we can send the part needed and then when it arrives, call us back and we will send a technician to do the repair. One month later the part arrived and it was the wrong part. Called customer service again and was told they are sending the correct part. One month later, no part arrived and when calling customer service again, they claim to have never received a call about the part received being the wrong part. Called store and spoke with the store manager who got me in touch with customer service who stated they would need a picture of the broken part and the serial number (which had already been provided to them). This time they state that the part is no longer being made and they would have to replace entire rocker recliner. Fine. I insisted on a technician coming to the home. A technician did come and happened to have that part on his truck and he replaced it. Today, a month later a huge box arrives at my door with the entire inside mechanism for the rocker recliner inside and extremely heavy. I assume this was going to be their plan originally, that is, not to replace the rocker recliner but to gut it and replace the inside Called store again and no answer. Got forwarded to customer service and I told them they need to get out here and pick up their part or it is going in the garbage. Service representative said go ahead and through it away if the rocker is re-sold. I kept asking to clarify and told them it wasn't re-sold it was repaired. The representative, who didn't speak English well, was trying to say RESOLVED. Fine. Takeaways - Ashley furniture does not care about their customers or honoring and standing behind their product. They obviously charge way too much for their furniture if they are okay with a whole inside of a rocker recliner being thrown away. Also, not environmentally friendly whatsoever and also, why should I have to dispose of their error? We have most of their furniture in our home now but most recently went to buy a table & chairs, they delivered defective merchandise and they refuse to let you return it! They never return calls, it's just unbelievable and unacceptable what they have turned into. They won't let you refuse, they won't take back the junk they deliver. I recently purchased some furniture from Ashley HomeStore in Ocala and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. They were extremely nice before I swipe my credit card but after that they wash their hands clean. And don't want to deal with you after that . When the furniture finally arrived at my home, I was shocked to see that it was clearly used and in very poor condition. The pieces were scratched, dented, and had obvious signs of wear and tear. It was clear that the furniture had not been properly inspected before being sold to me.I shipped back some of the items and contacted the store . Thé rescheduled new furniture to arrive but it was the same issues $10,000 worth of used and damaged furnitures at my new house . I immediately contacted the store to express my disappointment, but their customer service did not care after the same issues happened again to address my issue . I will never again do business with this Store. I have tried calling them eight times to get off their mailing list and I am always rerouted to a service center. The service center will not put me in touch with the Store until I tell them what I want to complain about and I lose 15 minutes with the Customer service which is somewhere overseas where their English is not understandable and then when they finally tell me they're going to transfer me over to the store? Decent selection of furniture but customer service is deplorable! Several pieces delivered damaged. When we insisted they take the pieces back - as we paid full retail for brand new, undamaged product - they insisted we had to have a technician come to repair the damage. We calmly tried to explain that leaves us with brand new REPAIRED furniture but they did not seem to see it that way. We finally prevailed, after much unpleasant interactions, to have them pick up the pieces and bring us brand new product. We have heard similar from neighbors. Unfortunate to have to advise readers to avoid this business. Went to store to purchase living room accessories. The salesman was nice, but he made a mistake when staying to place my order. When he corrected his mistake and gave me the cost, I noticed that the delivery charge had doubled. When I questioned him about this, his response was that he had put the wrong items in. I told him that since this was not my mistake, they should somehow adjust the delivery charge. He asked his manage who refused to do anything. I canceled the order and left the store. I tried several times to contact the corporate office and NEVER received a return call. I recently ordered a twin sleeper sofa from Ashley Furniture and unfortunately, the delivery process was a complete disaster. Firstly, the gentleman who delivered the furniture spoke no English, unable to communicate with me. They understand English when I asked them to leave my home. When they started to bring the sofa into our guest room they were struggling to get it through the door. They kept pushing as hard as they could. I asked them to please stop, we had just paid 7k to have our house painted 2 days before and they were going to scratch the door and walls. One of them smiled and out his finger up as if to say, one minute and gave it a final push. The sofa made it through as it demanded our door and walls. At this point I wouldn't let them finish. I was so afraid when the flipped the sofa they were going to scratch our floor. I asked them to leave, they kept going as if I didn't even speak. I tapped one of them in the shoulder, pointed to the door and said get out. (They managed to understand that) To make matters worse, the customer service representatives I contacted were unhelpful and seemed indifferent to my concerns. My only request was a refund in my delivery fee. The "manager" wanted pictures of the damage, I sent those right away. Then the manager wanted me to get an estimate to fix the walls. I emailed two times asking if they really needed that to refund my delivery fee, if so I was going to also request my salary. Zero response. I emailed back asking for the status of getting a refund on my deliver fee, silence. It's incredibly frustrating to spend hard-earned money on a product only to receive such poor quality and service in return. Last February we closed on a home in Jupiter Florida, but didn't move in until April. In the meantime We bought over $5,000 of new furniture from Ashley in Ocala Florida to furnish the home. For the guest room we selected a Sterns and Foster mattress after lying on the display which was very comfortable. When delivered, we weren't living there yet as we didn't move in until April 26th. Of course we didn't have overnight guests right away, but after a month or so we did. The guests said the mattress was very uncomfortable and sloped down on the outer edges. I contacted my salesman who said it just needed to be "broken in" so we should keep it awhile longer and if necessary they would stand by it. Time passed and it was slept on two more times, and the same response from our guests. So I called Ashley in Ocala Florida to speak to my salesman only to find out he had since left the company. He had not made a record of our telephone conversation, so that of course hampered my claim. Dealing with customer service, which is located in another country was extremely difficult due to language barrier. There must have been a language miscommunication, as I have made appointments for technicians to come and reevaluate the mattress when no one has shown up. Not only this, but the majority of the furniture I received had a problem of missing pieces, scratches, broken parts etc, that needed following up on. Overall, I am now giving up and just keeping the uncomfortable mattress and the furniture as it is. I'm over dealing with their "customer service" (if you can call it that). I purchased the Yantis 2 Piece storage sleeper section for 1,299.00 in Dec 2022 from Ocala, FL for a move to Pittsburgh, PA in early Jan 2023. I was told by the salesman that there is an Ashley store in Pittsburgh that would be able to help me once I get here. I was also told by this same salesman that the assembly is very quick and simple. Both of these statements proved to be very wrong. The assembly was much more complicated than I was originally told, and the couch was defective out of the box. There was no spot to attach the back rest of the sofa and the pull-out sleeper portion of the couch does not function at all. We reached out to Ashley to rectify these issues immediately, and I was then told that once this couch left Florida, they were no longer able to help me. I reached out to the same salesperson that originally sold me the couch, and they claimed that I was supposed to report any defects within a 72 hour window, something that was never told to me during the original sale. The customer service in this local Ocala, FL store has done nothing to correct their mistakes regarding this item. I then reached out to Ashley's customer service out of the Philippines and created a case for this defect. I submitted pictures showing the problem, and was informed that the store would reach out to me to find a way to correct this problem. I have received no help, no compensation and this company has show a blatant disregard for following through with customer purchases. In trying to find any solution at all, I went to the local Ashley store in Pittsburgh, PA, and now have to spend even more money to get someone to come out and look at this couch before giving me an estimate for how much more it will cost to fix these defects. I was told that if there is a mechanism defect, which there is, their warranty should cover it for up to 5 years. At this point, I am not sure if this will be another statement that proves to be untrue with this company. I was flat-out lied to multiple times throughout this entire process and I am now stuck with a sofa that does not work. Do not purchase sectional couches from here. I paid $3,500.00 for a piece of crap sectional! So frustrating there was a manufacture defect and when Ashley furniture sends out techs to fix the issue - they never do. I have had 4 techs come out here all to just fix a bolt that holds the couch together and they can't fix it apparently. I even had a tech just totally cancel an appointment so now my husband will have to be the one to fix this couch - even though we paid an extra $500.00 in warranties and the couch is not even 1 year old and is still under manufacture warranty. I purchased a dining room set Jan 2020, we were snowbirds for 3 mon, snowbirds in 2021 for 4 mon, then jan to present. So in total about 14 months of use, the top of the table finish is wearing off in random spots and the wood on the barstools, the finish has pretty much worn off! 2 adults no kids using it. I purchased the 5 yr protection plan for this, oh but it doesn't cover that!! I called the store where I purchased and they will do nothing for me. Woman agreed it shouldn't happen even if it was used full time for two years but there was nothing they will do either. So think twice about how long you want your furniture to last before you buy Ashley furniture! I had purchased a bedroom set a few years back. However, more recently, I bought a living room set and a mattress a year ago during Memorial Day weekend. They had a gift card promotion, supposed to be a Visa card for 10% off the total purchase. The mattress had a hundred dollar gift card. Got the mattress within a few days, received the couches within a few weeks, and the tables took almost 6 months, was told 3 initially. Called multiple times to the store, spoke to the managers, and called corporate about my gift cards. After various times of being promised or gicen thebrun around. Finally, I was told that they couldn't provide them until I took delivery for all items ordered. So after receiving the couches six months later, I went again to the store and spoke to the manager. He apologized, took my paperwork, and blamed corporate for this promotion that they ran and aren't managing correctly. Told me I would hear something within hours, never heard from them, uet again. Buyer Beware, Ashley will promise and not deliver, period. I'm not the only person who said this problem. I will never purchase another thing from them again.
