Dr. Ashly Cothern is a terrible dentist and is, simply put, a flake. She worked on several of my teeth, many of which later failed due to her incompetence. She has a really bad and frequent habit of cancelling appointments, without apology or explanation. Her staff is very hard to work with, so rescheduling is a nightmare. Overall, my experience with her over several years was unacceptable and inexcusable. My oral surgeon had zero respect for her as well. read more

I knew this was the right office for me. The entire Cosmetic Dentists team are kind, professional with empathy. Dr.Ashly Cothern and office gives you a wonderful feeling when walking in, but she makes you feel like a person, not just another patient or another number. Spending extra time, answering every question, not rushing through and making me feel important. I went to Dr. Cothern after seeing some good reviews. I have had ONE cavity in my entire life. I went to a dentist 1.5 years ago. That dentist told me that everything was fine. Imagine my shock when I was told at Dr. Cothern's office that I had ELEVEN cavities. Now imagine my shock when they handed me an estimate of over $4,400 to fill these cavities. Luckily I went to get a 2nd opinion. Lo and behold... I have THREE cavities. One in an upper molar and two in my wisdom teeth. $160 later I have my cavity filled and must make an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out. I should have known something was wrong when the hygenist told me not to feel bad because her friend who has never had a cavity went to Dr. Cothern and found out that he had seven cavities. Stay away from this scam!!! read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Went to this dentist after reading good reviews and was SHOCKED when she had me sit down with her billing expert to go over my treatment plan. I knew I had one tooth that needed a root canal, but Dr Cothern's somehow managed to find 5 other teeth that needed crowns/root canals to the tune of $15,000 not even including the cost of the endodontist root canal! I literally almost fell off my chair! I'd been to the dentist just a year ago and was told only the one tooth was in need of treatment. They also charged me $500 for "comprehensive" x rays not covered by insurance. I left the office in tears. Luckily I went to my sister's dentist for a second opinion and was told, as I originally suspected, that I only needed 1 root canal and crown and a couple of mild fillings with a grand total go $1900. avoid dr Cothern's office unless you really feel like throwing money away. read more

I LOVE Dr. Cothern. I have been going to her for about 16 years. I cannot say enough about how knowledgable she is. Also her manner is very professional. She has a great staff as well. Most of the hygienists are good. I usually have Holly do my cleanings, and she is stellar. I recently was given a new hygienist to do my cleaning (Laurie or Laura). She was very rough, and my crown came off during my cleaning with her. It may have been loose; there is no way to know for sure. However, I am certain that her rough flossing pulled it off. She did not apologize. Dr. Cothern replaced the crown. I will still go to Dr. Cothern because she is amazing; however, I will make sure I only have Holly do my cleanings. read more

I love Dr. Cothern's office!! Best experience I have ever had at a dentist's office hands down. In the past 5 years, I have had a total of 4 different dentists...Dr. Cothern and her staff make you feel like family and genuinely are wonderful at what they do. I am a girl that cannot stand pain and I have always had a pleasant experience when getting cavities filled. I remember the first time I walked in to an appointment and Dr. Cothern asked me about my goals for my smile. I was pleasantly shocked by that comment! I wanted to have a better smile and she DIDN'T try to scam me with Invisalign like other dentists have in the past, she recommended me to the best Ortho in town, Dr. Kanabar! A clean office, friendly & caring staff, and an EXCELLENT dentist have kept me coming back... Now, go get those pearly whites (or yellow teeth) cleaned NOW! read more

Dr. Cothern's staff are polite. After the initial cleaning and evaluation, You are asked to come back to discuss the results of your evaluation. The down side to this 30-minute consult is that it may be difficult for someone who runs on a very busy schedule, where taking time off from work/family is difficult. Probably best if this 30-minute consult would be included in the initial evaluation. She is thorough in explaining oral hygiene and management and takes the time to explain the condition of your teeth. She also makes time to answer any questions without making you feel rushed. The downside to her practice is it is very difficult to schedule an appointment for cleaning and they tend to charge you $50 (and reschedule you) if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment. She is also very pricey. Her recommendations for fillings cost 4 times more than the price I was quoted by a second dentist (who also finished from Baylor College of Dentistry and is just as excellent!). For those of you who might find Dr. Cothern expensive, best to get a second opinion. I will have to commend their office though - they are kind enough to forward x-rays, in case you are transferring to another dentist. In summary, for those who have the time and money to spare, Dr. Cothern is a good choice in that she educates her patients. However, for those who would still want optimal dental care (dentists who educate their patients and take time to answer questions and are very personable) for a fraction of the cost, you might want to look around for a different dentist. read more

My husband had cosmetic work done by Dr. Cothern. She first recommended Invisalign. That did not work after a year. Then she recommended braces. Then she did veneers. This was all VERY expensive. His last visit for a cleaning and whitening was almost $600. At that appointment he was chastised by the front desk staff Patsy for being late. He told her she could take the time off his appointment and that he didn't appreciate being chastised for being late after all the money he spent in that office. We are talking many thousands of dollars out of pocket. A week later they wrote him a letter saying they no longer wanted him as a patient. Seems like they got their money. What a joke. Who knows what the front desk lady said but I will never recommend this blood sucking dentist to anyone. read more
