Well, that this was not as represented. While my spouse was parking the car, I entered the room. The weatherstripping on the door had been eaten through. The room smelled like animals and after turning on all the lights, we promptly exited. We did not consider unloading the car. Thankfully the sister property, The Inn at Manzanita, had space for our 3-night stay in mid July 2026. Arrangements were confirmed, at the going rate, and we were thankful for the switch as the staff was great. And worth every dollar. Thank you for taking care of us. Hot Tip: Call and speak directly with the Front Office Staff before booking, as I learned that the renovations are "in process" but the standard at The Spinn was substandard and we will not return to The Spinn in its current, upgraded state-- no matter how "retro-cute" they try to make it sound. read more

We enjoyed a comfortable stay here at The Spinn this weekend. It is perfectly located to everything, just steps from the beach to the left and steps to shops to the right. There's plenty of parking, and check in was super easy, you go up to a counter in the Cafe & they assign your phone number as your code for your keypad on your door. Though, the cafe was super busy when we arrived & another set of guests arrived right after me and stood closer up my arse than even my husband. The rooms are spacious and I really like the vibe in them. The dark, textured soundboard wall is great, the lighting is dimmable and moody, and having a Jack Johnson record & player in the room is a magical touch. The room is stocked with plenty of towels (thank you! Why isnt this always the case?!) and extra bedding and pillows for the sofa bed. Robes, again a magical touch. The soaps are great quality, and all have a nice matching scent. For being pet friendly (I'm not a dog fan + I have asthma) I was worried when I booked it, but there wasn't a trace of dog in our room, yay! The bedding is very comfy, the mattress and pillows good! Only downfall is that the metal bed creaks pretty bad, in our room at least. A sound like nails on a chalkboard when you toss and turn in your sleep. I dont see an ice machine available & I wish hotels would start providing bottled water or some sort of drinking water system, because the only option for water is tap from the bathroom or the super spendy boutique grocery up the street. There was a super random, strong unpleasant scent in our room one day, but by the time we had opened the doors to air it out, it was pretty much gone. But my biggest challenge here was the thin walls. You can hear everything, even with it all being one level. We have two kids, so we're understanding to noise, but some people, including those booked right next to us, parent differently because they let their kid stomp and bounce around alllll day and night. I mean it. I finally got to sleep and then woke up to pee at 11:30pm, still heard the bouncing & then heard the dad say "enough, go to bed!". At $200/night with fees, it's an expensive stay for what you get, comparatively to stays at other beaches. A lux bed & breakfast in Lincoln City, or hotels with pools, saunas, cookies in the lobby, wine & cheese hour, fire pits and with ocean views..BUT you're in Manzanita. The options are limited to none so you get what's available & they don't have any of that here. Homes, hotels, rentals, food, etc. are all high price. It's a wonderful relaxed town and the beach is gorgeous and my favorite on the coast. Stay if that's what you're looking for and you don't mind splurging a little extra for basics to be here. read more

Terrible customer service. We rented a pet-free room for a relative who suffers from pet allergies. We were told at check-in that since there had been a change in ownership (Adrift Properties), there no longer were pet-free rooms and they had a strict 72 hour cancellation policy. They eventually agreed that if we needed to cancel they would not charge us. On a Saturday in August in this busy resort town the odds of finding other accommodations were slim to none. The rooms had been recently renovated so we gave it a try, although there was dog hair evident. The front desk handed us cleaning supplies to touch up the room, which we did, and we set up our own air filter. After two nights the cumulative effect was too much and our relative could no longer tolerate the room. Even though we checked out early so the room was available to rent, we were charged for that night. I reached out to Adrift Properties and was told they have a strict 72 hour cancellation policy. Apparently it does not take into consideration their guests' health and safety. It also does not consider that we booked a pet-free room which they did not supply. I live in Manzanita and would like to be able to recommend this business. I cannot. read more

Affordable, and typically can book just a few days to a couple weeks out. The location is fantastic. Parking is made easy. Beds very comfortable, including the hide-a-bed. So many thoughtful helpful touches throughout; from the lending library in the lobby (books, movies, games), to the well appointed kitchen and bathroom (no tub) to the comprehensive binder in each room that has local menus and other information. Yes, there are some rough spots (a couple very old light fixtures, no staff in lobby but always available instantly by phone, some slats on window shade broken at edge) but there's plenty of charm, comfort, affordability to offset those moments. read more

We have stayed at the Spindrift in the past and had good experiences. It's a basic, convenient, well-located spot. I love the nice touches like DVDs and games to borrow in the lobby. We stayed in room #15, which includes a basic kitchen along with queen beds and a hide-a-bed. The room was mostly clean, with the exception of the sheets on both the master bed and the sofa bed. Both had hairs on them and were gritty. Not sure if this means they weren't changed or if the wash didn't do the trick. There was a broken lamp in the bedroom. Great, spacious bathroom with ample supplies. However, the biggest issue with our stay was the noise. Music blared from the next door restaurant's kitchen from 11:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. The last time we stayed in this room--years ago--the music could be barely heard and we were told then that there was nothing to be done. This time the noise was constant and audible in every room. We turned up the TV volume to high to watch our movie, but still could hear it. It did motivate us to go out more, but put a definite pall over an otherwise nice stay. Relaxing in the room with a board game or book was not an option with the pumping bass. Also I should mention that our check-in was not as smooth as hoped. The key was not in the lockbox. And I got no response from the phone number listed on the locked lobby door for at least 30 minutes. When the innkeeper arrived he was apologetic and friendly, but still that was a long 30 minutes wondering if we had a place to stay that night. It started out our stay--and the other couple who was waiting with us--on the wrong foot. read more

This is a great little spot just blocks from the beach on the main drag in Manzanita. It is single level, dog friendly, kid friendly, with a door separating the bedroom and living area and a small kitchen. I reserved our room on Airbnb. It's pretty straightforward- you get a key code for the room if someone is not at the desk, there are posted office hours. It's nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. I love affordable motels. It's my secret. But as someone who grew up behind a counter at my aunties motel in Jacksonville Oregon, I just know about communication. I checked in, I wasn't told where the ice was, what time to check out, ect. It seems a little crazy to not communicate. I was always so excited to tell my guests everything so they felt at home. Escaped town on a whim for the night, leaving household chores in the dust and headed for the beach! To my wonderful surprise, this hotel had a "red hot" deal and so I was able to get hubby, the dog and I into one of their rooms for such a great price. I know this place has been around forever so I was not too worried about it being a divey kind of place full of chipped paint, funky furniture, bad plumbing, heat issues, and dated appliances. OK so the furniture does not match, but the bed was super comfortable, the towels were fluffy and new, the heat is controlled by you (works great), the place is clean, no dust, the paint is new, the shower is old enough that you get full power vs. the wimpy ones they have today, and the hot water flowed. All the light switches worked too! The hotel was not fully occupied but the walls don't seem to be too thin either, which might be related to how old it is as well. We slept in a room on the courtyard side so no parking lot which equals quiet. They've got wifi for free as well, and they are a block from the beach. The escape was worthwhile as the winds were calm and the sun did manage to peek out by end of day. read more

After pulling out a map of the Oregon coast and blindly picking a town that I hadn't been to before or felt had been overdone, I wound up staring at tiny little Manzanita on the map. A cursory check of Expedia found me a couple hotel choices, including the Spindrift Inn. With its unbelievable nightly rate and relatively positive reviews on both Yelp and Trip Advisor, it seemed the perfect place for a random road trip with one of my friends over the long holiday weekend. I could not have been more correct. Its location is perfect, just one block from the beach and it's within walking distance from just about anything else you could want - restaurant, pub, market, shops, you name it. This made it perfect for finishing a pitcher of beer at the pub and stumbling back to the room. The room itself was tidy and neatly appointed. The furnishings screamed beachy kitsch with its quilts and pastels; the room was also spacious and roomy with a small fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. While we didn't use it, there was a nice flat screen television; we got more use out of the table by the window, where we played rummy and drank beer until the late hours of the evening. (In between random treks to the beach to naturewatch.) I loved the cute little courtyard that our room's backdoor opened up into, even though I didn't have time to sit down and enjoy it. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, letting us know about the local happenings and offering to provide us with restaurant recommendations. There's also a borrowing library of DVDs in the front office that can be used on the DVD players in the room. Also, the gal that checked us in had the same first name as me. Extra star just for that. I would never have discovered the quaint town of Manzanita if it weren't for the Spindrift Inn! I would have given this little inn a 2 star rating, but the fact that my search of cheaper places to stay at the coast that was pet friendly popped up the Spindrift Inn, merits an extra star! I had invited my ex to go with me and my dog to the coast...I was only planning a day trip. He didn't want to make the 1+ hour drive to the coast, just for the day. So I did a search for pet friendly hotels that cost less than $100 a night. This proved to be a difficult task. August is peak season at the Oregon coast. But lo and behold, I found this place, located in the cute town of Manzanita. I've often drove up and down hwy 101 and have seen the turnoff sign for Manzanita, but never been there. Boy was I missing out! I loved the small town feel and the walks on the beautiful beach! The tiny room that I rented for the night was $95+tax. Normally there is a pet fee, but since this room was the very last one, and it was super tiny, the lady on the phone said she would waive the pet fee...friendly service, indeed! There was barely enough room to fit the full size bed and one chair. There was a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker. There was a flat screen TV with VCR and DVD player. A fairly decent library of movies in the front office to borrow from. We could never get a decent reception on the television. I did get a decent wifi signal...so I was able to stay fairly entertained for the evening. This place is only a block away from the beach, and within walking distance of everything in town. Several cute restaurants, coffee shops, yoga studio, grocery markets, library, post office. So even though I did not relish the idea of sharing the tiny full size bed with my ex...being in Manzanita was well worth it! read more

We are staying here now. Looks are deceiving. I thought the rooms went from back parking lot to front parking lot but there is a hidden court yard inside that you wouldn't know about from the outside. It does not look like it has much charm from the outside but it is comfy. We are staying in a suite. Efficiency kitchen is fine for heating up left overs and keeping food cold but don't expect much more. Would stay here again. Pros Free, fast wifi Close to beach Comfortable bed Friendly staff Clean and well maintained Cons Cheap plastic coffee pot that tested my patience! Room to be more green - since you have efficiency kitchens, could you consider having dispensers for sugar, artery clogger creamer, etc. and ditch the individually packaged items. Location Location Location! I have stayed at the Spindrift a couple of times over the years, most recently in Room 2 for a solo "mom sanity break" in February. For the price, you cannot beat this place in Manzanita--a block to the beach, a block to the grocery, across the street from Marzano's Pizza, half a block from coffee, and even closer to the bookshop and my favorite boutique, the T-Spot. The room was sparkling clean and the perfect size for me, my leftovers/snacks in the fridge, my books on the nightstand, my art supplies on the table. I appreciate the little shelf in the bathroom of rOom 2 for my toiletries bag. The free DVDs to borrow in the lobby are great! ANd the free wifi gets two thumbs up. As COVID is a concern right now, I appreciated that i could vent the room completely upon arrival by opening the front door and windows, and the interior "back" door into the private courtyard. The heat is via baseboard heaters so no air or noise from other rooms that way. It got down to freezing a few nights while I was there, but the room stayed snug and warm! There's no daily housekeeping because of COVID, but the staff was attentive, fast, and friendly when i needed more toilet paper after a few days. :) I will definitely be back! I have looked at other hotels in Manzanita, and they look fancy, but for the same money i can stay 1-2 more nights at the beach at Spindrift... more beach time always wins, for me. read more

This inn is ideally located in the town center. It's a short walk to the white sand beach, restaurants and great coffee. The rooms are newly renovated, clean and stocked with a fridge, microwave, half and half, utensils, and lots of towels. Beds are comfy and have plenty of pillows. Free WiFi. The inn is dog friendly and we brought both of our dogs (pug and a Frenchie). The best part? I happened to run into a nice guy on the beach who was walking his pooch. We got to talking and later that day I saw him - he's running the place. Super easy contact-free check in (COVID) and clear email communication. You'll want to stay there. We will be back. read more

They weren't speaking loudly either, but it seemed like the only thing separating us was a thin sheet of plywood. My wife and our two boys (age 3.5 and 8) spend two nights at the Spindrift last weekend for a birthday/father's day celebration. Spindrift is located right in central Manzanita, with all of the restaurants, the store, bars, etc. in town right around the corner. One of the best features is that the Beach is really close, like a few 100 feet. We walked almost everywhere while we where there. We were in room #10, and I am assuming the rest of the rooms are similar. The rooms are suites, with a kitchen/living room area, a bedroom, and a small bathroom, I am guessing somewhere between 400 and 450 sqft. The spindrift is not high end, but it has been well maintained. The front room has a TV, coffee table, and a fold out hide-a-bed. There is a small table with four chairs, and a small kitchen with a efficiency refrigerator, stove top (two burners), sink, small coffee maker, and microwave. They appeared to have all the utensils, plates, cups, and pans you would need, though we did not cook. The TV did have cable and a DVD player, and they had DVDs you can borrow at the front desk. Our room was missing the DVD player remote, and we had some problems getting the DVD player to work, but the staff at the front desk was very helpful, sent somebody down, and gave us a universal remote to work with the DVD player. The fold out bed is not really going to work if you weight more than about 100 lbs. This should not be a news flash for anyone that has ever slept on a hide-a-bed. My boys LOVED the idea of sleeping on the fold out couch, though we would have them sleep in the bed when it was bed time, and then transfer them when my wife and I were ready for bed. The bedroom has a closet, a chair, and some bed side tables with various books in the top drawer. The bed was comfortable and firm (which is much better than the alternative). Yes, the walls are thin. Yes, I feel bad about how rowdy our boys were, we tried to keep them quiet and reprimanded them when they raised a ruckus. We had no problems hearing other people, though the walls are thin. The bathroom was small and cramped, and there was an additional door to the courtyard. Courtyard seemed like a nice place to chill if you wanted to be outside, but not very private as every room has access. Everything in the bathroom seemed mostly fine. Now for the areas of improvement. There was a door mat in front of the front door, and it did not fit under the door. Every time you opened the door, the mat would get bunched up and bind the door. Didn't take long for me to remove the mat. The bathroom had one hook for hanging robes and bath towels. There is no where for your towel to be so you can reach it when you are done showering. There was also no where to hang a hand towel so you could dry your hands in the bathroom. They do have Wifi, but in rooms 8-11 (I am guessing) the Wifi would be unusable because of signal fluctuation. Just know that the rooms closer to the office are preferred if you really need the Wifi. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would come back. Spindrift is not super high end, but it is an affordable way to visit Manzanita and the location can not be beat. read more

If you don't cancel with 7 days notice they charge you a nights stay. Which was 183.00 for one of the 2 nights. Guess I feel even half that would have been fair. We decided to stay safe, and for them business is business. But they have lost any future business with us. And I will not recommend them. So be aware of this. read more

I came here with a friend for a quick get away to the oregon coast. We didnt want to do Seaside, Newport, or Cannon beach, as we felt they were way overdone... and we were NOT disappointed. This place is cute, quaint, and quiet. Yes, the bar across the street was louder once the live music started on a Friday night, but It wasn't overly annoying, like another reviewer said on another site. Also, and I dont know if we were just lucky here or what, but we could not hear ANY of our neighbors from neighboring rooms. A cute little motel in Manzanita, near Cannon Beach. The town is adorable, and the Spindrift is a block from the beach. But get in you car and drive a few miles north to Cannon Beach, which is spectacular. The beds were very comfortable, the room comfortable, very clean, and quiet. I liked the little table and chairs to drink your morning coffee at. Staff were a little standoffish, but very helpful. read more

I'm a bit behind in making this review. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Spindrift about 6 weeks ago (end of June/beginning of July). I searched for a place to stay along the Oregon coast somewhere between Rockaway Beach to Cannon Beach. Spindrift had the best rate by far. I was slightly worried that the low rate would equal poor service/dirty room, but that ended up not being the case. Our room was very very clean, and had all the amenities you could hope for - blow dryer, flat screen tv with cable and dvd player, a sizeable mini fridge, coffee maker, etc. They provide a large selection of DVDs that you can borrow. The beach is within easy walking distance (about 1-2 short blocks), a traditional bar with food is across the street, a cute little wine bar is a block down, and plenty of other little restaurants/shops are within a few short blocks. The only potential negative is that no one is at the front desk later in the evening. For me it wasn't a problem at all, but if you are someone who thinks they may need some assistance at any hour, then this isn't the place for you. The people who run the place are very nice. Overall, for the price this place is great! Since we were spending most of our time hanging out on the beach and exploring all the surrounding towns, we didn't want/need an expensive and fancy place to stay. Spindrift fit the bill perfectly! We will definitely try to stay there again if we are ever in that area again. read more

If you are looking to spend one night or two in Manzanita and want to keep it low key, this is a great spot. The location is perfect, in the middle of the village so walking distance to the local restaurants, pub, grocery...but best of all 1 block from the beach which is perfect for morning or evening walks or jogs. This is an older motel but it is well kept and clean with good beds, good coffee, good showers. The only downside, limited office hours and no breakfast (not a big deal since you have at minimum a fridge, microwave, coffee maker in the room and a coffee shop literally across the street that opens at 7 AM every day). read more

Super cute little hotel. My husband and I stayed one night here with another couple and it was perfect. There's a yoga studio across the street, as well as a Mexican restaurant, a pizza place, and a coffee shop next door. It was clean, quaint and close to the beach. My only issue with this place was that the coffee maker in the room was tiny and it was designed so you had to use the coffee they provided, which was not good. Overall it was really nice- there was a private courtyard for guests, and the office had a decent selection of DVDs you could rent for free. Pretty darn adorable. Every July we take a road trip without hotel reservations, which makes for an adventure in itself. At 5pm last night I was scrolling through the options while sitting in a Cannon Beach parking lot... and found the Spindrift Inn. We got a pet-friendly room with two queen beds, microwave and fridge for $150 for two humans and two chihuahuas. All the expected supplies (towels, soaps, shampoo, coffee) per plentiful. My boyfriend loves to surf near the Manzanita coast line... but he'd be pissed off if I mentioned the location... enough people know about it as it is! Haha... He's been staying at the Spindrift Inn for years. I really love this place. I've been here for long stays at least four times. A block away from the beach... Center of town, walking distance to anything you need, including Spa Manzanita across the street. LOVE IT. Clean, original, quirky, awesome showers and products, terrific beds, cable and flat screens for those nights when you're feeling like relaxing with a movie. DVD player. Dog friendly, Kitchen if requested, lots of easy access parking, great staff. REASONABLE PRICES. Especially during off season. I love these kind of establishments. Locally owned with character and class. I'm a lifer for sure. read more

It's a block from the beach and right in the middle of town-you can't really ask for better! It's homey and cozy and I loved loved loved the bed! Super comfy and warm considering it only had a quilt on it and it was 30 degrees all night. It's a bit on the older side, but it ooozed charm and cozy comfort. The courtyard is fantastic, we were able to sit out and have a few drinks before going to bed. The room comes equipped with a fridge which is a plus. Liked that you can check out dvd's-the channels on the tv are bit limited so it was perfect for a late movie night. For the price and location, this place is awesome! read more

We stayed here with our toddler for 3 nights, during the week. I should warn that I have become increasingly nit-picky, and I have a rambunctious toddler that can make small spaces feel even smaller..... so this review is coming from THAT perspective. PROS: Manzanita is adorable. Small, and trendy. Crunchy. It seems a bit higher end than a lot of beach towns. Kind of like... maybe all the middle aged rich couples come here....? It is also one of the least kid-friendly towns I have encountered. Lots of cute boutiques selling ridiculously priced baby clothes- but yet 3 out of 6 of the restaurants in town are 21+ only. I think this is awesome! I am all for it. But... it is definitely geared towards adults it seems. Super central location. Love being able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and the beach. The owners are friendly and helpful. The office does close from 11-3, and at 6. This didn't bother me, but it could be obnoxious if you were the type of guests to need around the clock assistance. The hotel is cute & quaint. Reminds me of a small apartment complex you'd find in NW Portland, or inner SE. With a small courtyard in the center filled with herbs, plants, and little chairs to sit in. The rooms were very clean, and the bathroom was extremely spacious. The bed was really comfy, which is something I have found increasingly hard to find in mid range hotels. I also LOVE that they have quilts instead of those nasty scratchy blankets you find in some hotels. CONS: The room we got was on the office/restaurant end, #15. It was a kitchen suite. The pictures I saw made the kitchenette suites look a lot bigger. For instance, one of the pictures has a couch that is a whole cushion larger than the couch we had- and a kitchen that is a whole countertop larger, and a dining room table with 4 chairs while ours only sat 2, barely. So, I was expecting something a bit bigger. I understand each room is probably unique, so we must have gotten one of the smaller ones. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but with a rambunctious toddler it was a bit cramped. Honestly, had we brought our dog it would have been unbearably small. If we hadn't had the baby it would have been perfect. So, for this reason alone we may not return if we are wanting some more space to sprawl out. The kitchenette, aside from being small, was not really as usable as I would like. I should preface by saying I am somewhat of a foodie-home cooking- maniac. But, that aside, this kitchen may have been one of the least usable kitchenettes I have ever experienced in a hotel. There were not many cooking essentials, and the few there were are getting pretty close to needing to be replaced. The stove top burners were all so crooked and busted that I could hardly fry an egg in the worn out pans. The knobs to turn the stove top or oven on were so busted that we literally had to use a wrench thingy from my husbands truck to turn them on. I could have talked to the front desk about it, but just waited until we checked out to let them know. This is something super small- but I really really wish that they had some sort of coat hooks in the room, somewhere- anywhere. Kind of nit picky, like I warned. Because our room was so close to the restaurant end, we were literally attached to the area where the dumpster is for the restaurant. Around 9 or 930 every night it was super loud with kitchen staff laughing, talking as loud as they can and slamming the dumpster lid closed over & over. This was super awesome with a barely sleeping toddler. Yeah. I will definitely request a different room if we stay here again. read more

Our room was spacious, clean and well supplied though like most beach lodging, a little run down. I appreciate when a lodger goes the extra mile to supply nice soaps, and they were supporting Oregon business which I also appreciate. Location was perfect, and Innkeeper Bob was extremely accommodating and friendly. read more

Our other hotel fell thru and we ended up at the Spindrift last minute in the middle of August, high season. Luckily, they had one pet-friendly room available that could sleep 4! The staff was super nice and accommodating. Our end unit was bright, inviting and so very clean! The room was small for the four of us but the pullout sofa bed was super comfortable and the queen in the bedroom was great too. Not sure about the other units, but we did not hear the neighbors at all. Cozy and welcome touches: nice linens and soft sheets, a plethora of fluffy towels, nice quality toiletries, mini-fridge, two burner stove top, micro, coffee maker and even a toaster, too. And did I mention clean?! Great walk-ability to the beach, coffee, pizza, and donuts, too! I would definitely stay here again! read more

They have dropped the ball on us TWICE .... out of three reservations. You get what you you pay for, in every way here. Customer service is a total joke. It's a shame. read more

Fine place, no drawers for clothes but a cubby and would have been nice to have some hooks for hanging towels. Room is small but adequate and it's nice to have a free selection of movies, fridge, microwave and coffee maker - even though we didn't use those things. It was definitely time for them to upgrade the bed though, half of it sloped, but the place was pretty affordable and only a block from the beach. read more
