Ok first off - great Health Department score, place is clean, staff is great and I'd give the place 5 stars, if that's all there was to it but now to 3 star rating. I ordered Chicken Larb and Dancing Shrimp both "Spicy". While a nice portion on the Larb, there was no liquid with it and it lacked that lime fish sauce flavor which is key to Larb. Wasn't spicy and overall flavors? Meh. The Dancing Shrimp, which I ordered Spicy, had no spice, no Thai peppers and their sauce base had a sweet note to it. The real sinker for me is they leave the shrimp tails on! So your fingers smell after taking care of that issue. Now I'm not one to just bring up problems but also offer solutions. They're a restaurant serving the public with a varied palate and spice range. Maybe they should have a "Spicy Scale" and offer that to their patrons. I ordered spicy and, for me, it was far from that. Might have been too spicy for others! Such is the conundrum. Look, this place has lots of great reviews. Maybe I caught them on an off day. Family own little restaurant that seats about 50 people. Excellent food and reasonable prices. Had only one server but she was professional and efficient with a friendly smile. I think there were some Aunties and Uncles were cooking in the back - I had the Duck Noodle Soup - 5 Stars, an Pad Thai as a to-go order. - 4 stars and a mango boba smoothie - 4 stars. Server - 5 stars Star of the show was the Duck Noodle Soup - Highly Recommend! Broth was deep and very flavorful. You can taste the duck broth and it wasn't salty. Plenty of roasted duck and veggies in the bowl. Also, it comes with a side of veggies - Thai Basil, lime, jalapeños bean sprouts, and some Romain Lettuce. Price $11 Pad Thai - very good flavor but slightly sweet for my taste. Prefer more of the sourness from Tamarind sauce. However I remedy that with Lime wedges and chili oil sauce for spiciness. The food is so good it makes my soul smile. I'm so happy I found this place. This place hit home for me. I had the Thum Tad, the Laos sausage with sticky rice and the duck noodles. This hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese and Thai restaurant really surprised my wife and I! Our noodle dishes were a cut above what we often get, even in a large city. Really good food, decent prices, nice staff, and mediocre boba tea but no ones perfect. The bubbles were hard and when I mentioned it the server was super sweet and just got me another. First time in Amarillo Tx. And wow this little place surprised me. The food was great, service was great. This place by far has the best papaya salad and the chicken noodle soup(Khao piak) was the best I had so far. I would recommend this to anyone in the area that wants to try real Lao, Thai food. If I'm ever around Amarillo again this will be the only place I will go eat at. From California to Texas this is the best place for authentic Lao Thai food. read more
