We had a fine dinner here, beginning with Crispy Fried Langostino with a puckering Lemon Aioli. A Bowl of spicy Vegetable Beef Soup and a House Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette were good starters. Then a 6-ounce medium rare Petite Filet Mignon with a Cold Water Lobster Tail, Mashed Potatoes, and Red Wine Braised Cabbage served as a great choice for my entree. The Lobster meat was sweet, and so was the Port Wine Reduction Sauce for the steak. We received fine service except for a missing soup spoon. For starters large parking lot with ample parking a huge plus. I was made to feel welcome the moment I entered. Having wasted a dinner at a local tourist trap earlier in the week I was craving a nice steak for my last evening in Amarillo and this restaurant filled that need. They have a nice wine list and settled on a malbec for $13 it was a very generous pour. For dinner I enjoyed the 14oz ribeye medium and it was flavorful and cooked to proper temperature. The Seasoning was good and the meat tender. Worth the $41. No feast would be complete without dessert and I enjoyed their white chocolate and raspberry creme brûlée and it was OMG divine. Nice layer of caramelized sugar over decadent raspberry creme. I definitely recommend. Finally kudos to my server Jordan, he was very attentive and prompt with his service. Next time travels bring me to Amarillo I will definitely return to Cellar 55. read more

When I drove up to this strip mall I wasn't sure what to expect but inside it's beautiful--great ambiance. The server was great, so friendly. I will say the pour on the wine was painfully slight. Like really unusually low pour. We ordered the green hatch chili queso, it was fine but not green hatch forward. I ordered the special--sea bass and risotto. It was very good. Portion was not huge, but plenty of it. It was very very rich. Floating in butter/oil. Delicious but not a lite fish dish by any means. My friend had a burger. It was great. Fries are unremarkable--frozen bag type fries. The price point was pretty high. One drink each and two dinners, 100$ before tip so on the high end. We're driving through Amarillo on our way back from a long trip and this is a place to stop for us. We decided to look for a place to have dinner. All four of us decided on Cellar 55. Man, am I glad we did. First, the restaurant is beautiful. Wonderfully decorated dark woods and dark tile tones (masculine kind of steak house). Even when you go to wash your hands in the men's room, the soap for mean was Whiskey and Tobacco scented (nice masculine touch). My wife said it was soft floral sent in the women's room. Anyway, AJ took care of us a dinner. Super nice guys and honestly, he made the dining experience that much more of a pleasure. The food was great, My wife had Grouper with risotto and asparagus tips, I had rack of lamb with mushroom risotto and Brussel Sprouts with a honey glaze. My dad had petite filet with fingerling potatoes and the same Brussels sprouts. My mom had salmon with mushroom risotto and the Brussels sprouts as well. For desert, peanut butter pie, blonde with ice cream, key lime pie, crème brûlée. OMG, I can't say enough good things about all these food dishes. Everything was just delicious. On this trip we've been to some nice places and went to a bunch of other restaurants. Even while in Sedona, which has some nice places, none offered such wonderful food as Cellar 55. Large selection of drinks. I'll be fair and give the good and bad. Don't try the Smoke and mirrors drink, unless you like extremely smokey drinks. Wow it was strong, couldn't finish it, and I like smokey flavors. Way too much smoke. The white negroni was really good. Waygu burger was ok, spent an extra $5 on some kind of specialty bacon. Couldn't tell the difference from regular bacon, and it was chewy and stringy, when you bit into it you had to pull the string to break it, instead of being properly cooked. Not great, ate half of it. Fries were mushy, not crisp at all. Good seasoning though. The sweet tea chicken was pretty good. Sweet and savory. Unique. I liked it. But wouldn't come back for it. Lobster appetizer was really good. The creme brûlée was great. Over Service was excellent. I didn't ask, but the waitress noticed I didn't drink the smoke and mirrors cocktail and took it off my tab. Traveling thru Amarillo we placed a pickup order for two salads - both listed under the Entree Salad part of the menu. The Ahi Tuna salad and the Cellar Salad add shrimp. The Ahi Tuna salad was 21.00 and the Cellar Salad was 12.00 plus 12.00 for the shrimp. The Ahi salad had 3 thin pieces of Ahi tuna and the Cellar salad only had 2 shrimp. Kind of a rude surprise when we opened them up in the hotel. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager about both salads but especially the 2 shrimp for an entree salad. He said "nope", it was not a mistake, that's what it comes with. No mention of the complaint for the Ahi tuna. read more

I would suggest to look at sides and salads and figure out how to elevate because for the prices in a smaller market it could be more elevated. We came to Cellar 55 to celebrate our anniversary, and it was such a special experience from start to finish. The service was absolutely amazing--Ashley took such great care of us and was so attentive throughout the evening. I had the New Orleans pasta, and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak--both were incredibly good! We also started with the queso, which was delicious and full of flavor. To top it off, they generously comped our dessert in honor of our anniversary. We chose a blend of our two favorites--cheesecake and carrot cake--and it was the perfect sweet ending to a perfect night. Creme Brule was good. Our server was listed as Ghost. She was either new or inept. The salad came after our entrees. We had to have two other servers flagged down to get things done. Highly Recommend for a relaxing, special evening! We ordered the bacon sampler as an appetizer. Not only was it very good, but it was just served in a fun and unique way! The sauce served along with the bacon complimented the bacon perfectly. I commented to my husband that it was the perfect appetizer as it did not fill us up, and instead made us anticipate the entrees more. My husband had the elk, and I had the salmon. Both entrees were superb. The blue cheese risotto served along side the salmon was outstanding. We also enjoyed the fried sprouts. Finishing out our dinner, we ordered the key lime pie, and truly, it may be the best key lime pie we have ever had. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was excellent. We were greeted by many of the staff as we went to our table. They asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. It was our 39th wedding anniversary, and they asked if we had been there before. Had 715 reso and was told that our table would probably be 15 or so minutes as they were waiting for guest to vacate, we could wait in the bar. No problem Nice ambiance and service. Nice table in a quieter area in an alcove area. Perfect. Server was training a new server, so we got plenty of attention from both of them. Started with french onion soup which was very flavorful, yet the toasted baguette was either non-existent or so covered in melted provolone to not be part of the texture of the spoonful. Unfortunate. Had the elk tenderloin and it was cooked perfect medium rare and had a clean, almost sweet flavor. Would have liked the brussels sprouts to have been a little bigger, and more seasoning. Would have loved to have subbed red cabbage or risotto for the mashed potatoes, which were blah. My friend had grouper, and she only ate half; but assured me was good as was her risotto. Had peanut butter pie for dessert. A nice finish; but wouldn't order next time. Key Lime pie sounds good. Overall impression is Cellar 55 is well worth a date night or special occasion, as the service and ambiance were definitely upscale; but prices are higher than other places with comparable food. read more
