    Hot Food

This is a tough one. I appreciate a good buffet like any glutton, but the food and service here at Asian Buffet could use a lot of work. Most buffets, especially Chinese ones are less likely to make either a priority, but typically the food quantity, group friendly atmosphere, and affordable prices tend trump all. That seems to be the case here at the literal-termed Asian Buffet. Sadly, a buffet is usually only as good as its food. I realize most buffets like this aren't gunning for high quality anything, but it was difficult to appreciate much of the hot food fare because so much of it was either too salty, too overcooked, or something was off. Much of this is standard Americanized Chinese fare, which works well I suppose for this neck of the woods, but would be subject to doomsday in any major Asian community. I would also venture for them to stop calling their noodle soup "pho" when it's clearly just a noodle soup with broth. The sushi was definitely the least appealing of the bunch. There were a number of rolls out there, not so much on the nigiri side or handroll action, but they were all strange in design and funky to the core. A lot of imitation crab and such, but this is nothing new for places like this. I think the only semi-saving grace on a food scale was the hibachi. Customize one's (semi-frozen) meats with noodles / rice, peppers, with a smattering of soy sauce. sesame oil, and veggies was surprisingly okay. Every table has sriracha bottles and the plastic cups are the oversized ones that hold a ton of liquid. I can appreciate their setup and layout, but I've seen better execution on the food front in other similarly themed places. Fingers crossed they bump it up a notch.

If you're familiar with the Grand China Buffet in Omaha off of Dodge and 118th, then Asian Buffet will be no different for you. Same owners and host Simon, who has traveled to the new Lincoln store to help with the opening for a while. As you can see, I have frequented the Omaha location pretty frequently... I can recognize Simon! (The Asian parents love the all you can eat clams, crab, and crawfish...we end up here a lot) Since a lot of our family and friends from Lincoln would drive all the way to Omaha for the buffet, it's going to be very convenient for all the Asians in Lincoln to now get their seafood fix right in town. At $14/person for adults and $8 for kids, its a pretty good deal to eat all the mussels, crawfish, crab legs, and clams you want. It would cost more than that to buy it from the store and prepare it yourself. As for the other foods there, there is slightly less selection in comparison to the Omaha location, I think mainly due to space constraints. Most all of the American-Chinese favorites are still available. Quick service in clearing plates, having fresh food available at all times, and refilling the crab (most important ;) ). It's a huge step up from the previous asian buffet tenant.

Yummy authentic chinese buffet in Lincoln, NE. We really enjoyed the noodle soup option the restaurant offered (udon & pho)! The soup base was very good as well! In addition to all the choices of delicious dish they offered, the servers and stuff were very friendly. Will return for sure and highly recommend trying this restaurant.

All the food is always steaming hot!

The restaurant seemed very clean inside and outside. The buffet food had alot to offer. There was a lot of different chicken dishes and also fish. I liked their fried rice and noodles. The egg rolls were hot and yummy! I also enjoyed the Rangoons, with a great cream cheese filling and their dumplings also good. The beef and broccoli and the shrimp with broccoli were both tasty. The tomato bisque and veggie minestrone both were wonderful soups with beautiful texture. Since I ate more than usual, I just had water to wash it all down. To top off the afternoon, I had some soft serve chocolate vanilla swirl and a cream puff. What a great visit. So, we did the China Buffet part. On the next visit, I will definitely do the Mongolian Grill part in the near future!!! A special thanks to my parents for guiding and treating me here for lunch!

I always get the spinach bread, which is naan-stuffed with paneer and spinach, and is so soft and melt in your mouth delicious. I dream about the naan. Then for my main, I get the lamb bhuna with the soup on the side. I've tried a few other main courses and I honestly think the Lamb bhuna is the most flavorful thing on the menu, and a spiced so well. The mint chutney that they have to dip with the naan is also so good. I could probably drink it. I crave the oven so often. It's definitely a very busy restaurant so I would recommend making a reservation beforehand, otherwise you'll probably be waiting a pretty long time! The patio Haymarket location is super nice when the weather is good.

Everybody at the table loved it. The soup starter wasn't my favorite it didn't have much flavor to it but if you squeeze the lemon in it gets tolerable. Too much soup though. The chicken bunha was probably the best dish forgot to take a photo. Pretty strong onion flavor. The chicken tikka Marsala although good with the right amount of spice was a little different than I was used to. Overall will be back to try again.

We made our plates and sauce dishes for the grill and had them cooked. I think too much water was applied to the food during cooking washing out the flavor.

She loves the wide variety of meats, the incredible salad bar, and the cocktails--and even as a vegetarian/sometimes pescatarian, I felt completely cared for. Because of her birthday club BOGO, I did the full Rodizio, and owner Eric Underwood went out of his way to make fresh spyfish and garlic shrimp so I could truly enjoy it. Everything is made fresh in-house, from the endless glazed grilled pineapple (my favorite!) and polenta/cheese breads to cinnamon plantains. The salad bar is massive and unique--ceviche, seafood and pasta salads, soups, rice and beans, quail eggs, amazing banana bread, and my absolute favorites: the chilled mango and strawberry soups with coconut on top. Brunch added French toast sticks, cheesy eggs, bacon, and the best whipped potatoes. What really sets Rodizio apart, though, is Eric. He checks in with every table, treats his staff with clear respect, and models true servant leadership. The restaurant is always clean, welcoming, and full of options. Whether you're a big eater, a light eater, or have dietary preferences, there's nothing else like Rodizio Grill in Lincoln. Highly recommend.
