I do love this food truck/place. But I will say that they are being cheap by cutting their shrimp in half! If you order spring rolls from Heoya, you get 1 shrimp cut in half in your spring roll! You think you're getting 2 shrimps when you're only getting one! Come on now, quit being cheap!!! If you order a box, they don't cut the shrimp in half for that! Good food but being majorly cheap. I've only eaten at the food truck parked on 16th St., but if that's any indication, they're really good. 6 bucks and change will get you a nice grilled pork sandwich and two egg rolls with sweet 'n sour sauce, which is a pretty good deal. They especially have my respect because they managed to make something smothered in onions that I can actually eat. Normally I hate them, so when I got back to my place and opened up the sandwich to find it covered in onion strings, my heart sank. But I gave it a try and I'm glad that I did because it was delicious. Pretty filling, too, for the money. I'll definitely be going back tonight to try something new. I also asked one of the guys who worked the truck what the name "Heoya" meant. Apparently it basically means "pork" and that it's pronounced "Hell yeah," which I thought was cool. read more

I love mom and pop places----put them in a truck and have them travel all over town---how much more convenient could it be? I tried Heoya for the first time a few weeks ago when I was in town for work. I was looking for something different than the usual national chain places that you could get anywhere. Here enters the yummy Heoya truck. They have a pretty regular location rotation--follow them on facebook to see where they will be. Being that Lincoln, Nebraska is not exactly the warmest place during the winter months---I appreciate that you can actually phone or text your order in---and you can even wait in the car and they will bring it out to you (great for my uncoordinated ice skating skills!) The prices are very reasonable and the portions are very filling. Wanted to try a good variety so I tried the egg rolls (love that they aren't the plain cabbage filled kind). Spicy pork tacos (great flavor, not too spicy but enough to warm you up--and I found out this special pocket of yum was created by a customer--kudos to the truck for being open to customer requests!), grilled kalbi with noodles (this still tasted great the next day). The meat was tender; marinated then drizzled with fermented chili paste (Gochujang). It was accompanied with lettuce and wrapped in a flour tortilla. I wish there a bit more lettuce to meat ratio since I like my tacos with extra crispy crunch. Also, I would have preferred the meat to be hot instead of room temperature *Grilled Pork rice noodles with egg rolls: pieces of meat were a bit fatty. Fish sauce well made. Rice vermicelli was a bit too al dente. I wouldn't come back just for this * Crab Rangoon: They make their own. It was deep fried and the cream cheese was soooooo creamy and gooey and awesome. Holy Heoya....I think I'm hooked. I tried Heoya on Thursday. My friend and I went out to the Fallbrook Farmer's Market in search of the big truck with the happy pink pig. We found it quickly, and checked out the menu. Right away, the guys inside greeted us and started chatting with us. They told us how they bought an old Fed Ex truck and they built the kitchen themselves. I ordered a Heoya Special Banh Mi (marinated steak with pickled carrots, lettuce, cilantro and a special mayo) and a Korean bbq beef taco. My friend got a pork banh mi and an order of crab rangoon. We couldn't wait to get to her place to dig in. The banh mi was good. My steak was flavored well and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The bread was awesome. It was toasted and warm, and had just the right amount of that crusty texture. The crab rangoon was delicious. The filling was tasty and plentiful, and the sauce was pretty good. But now, for the star of the show...the taco. This was my favorite. The meat was so flavorful. Slightly sweet, with a nice bit of spice and they put just the right amount sauce on top. The cilantro was a perfect addition as well and not too over powering. This was seriously love at first bite. I was craving another as soon as I had finished. Great stuff. I am so excited to see this type of development in Lincoln. We tried this last week after a looooong night of teaching. Most recently, the truck has been parking in the driveway of a frat house near the corner of 16th and S streets from 8- 11ish. Perfect for an after-class bite. All of this set us back around $15. Spring rolls and egg rolls were great, but the sauces were a bit "take-out." (I know, it is a food truck, but still!) The real gems were the tacos and Bánh mì. The taco was certainly my favorite - spicy/salty/sweet korean BBQ on the meat with crunchy veggies. Bánh mì was delicious as well. The bread is just terrific - a crusty outside with an oh - so smooshy inside soaking up the juice from the meat and veggies. Be sure to squeeze on some of the sriracha (hot pepper sauce) available on the counter before you dive in. The bread is absolutely not a sourdough baguette, but is a perfect example of the quintessential Bánh mì roll. I would love to buy these things for weekday sandwiches or just to toast and smear butter on - where are they getting them? Excellent. Satisfy your late night munchies here on the cheap. No cash? Pronounced "Hell Yeah!". This place is the best! Awesome food, great prices for how much/good food you get. At first, everyone is like "Korean BBQ Food Truck" and thinks dog from a truck. Totally not the case, not crazy food, I get the signature Heoya Rice box w/ Chicken. The chicken is plump, spiced, delicious. The rice is also always good. A good amount too. Get the "Firecracker" Crab Rangoon. Better then regular crab rangoon, and they put a jalopeno in it, so it gives it some kick! I recently spent a week in Lincoln, and was surprised to find an Asian food truck there. I ended up sampling a *lot* of Heoya's menu over the course of the week: Pork banh mi (sandwich): Very tasty. A little bit smaller than banh mis I've had elsewhere, but still enough to satisfy me. 4. Pork rice bowl: I didn't actually have one of these, but I'm pretty sure it's the same meat as the banh mi above except on a bed of rice, so I can't imagine it not being delicious as well. Probably a 4. :-) Pork taco: Again the same meat, but this time in a soft taco with some sauce. My Guatemalan friend, perhaps expecting something a bit more Central American and a bit less Asian, wasn't a fan. I thought it was tasty enough, although I agree with her that the pork's flavor profile doesn't work as well in a taco with lettuce as it does in a banh mi with pickled daikon radishes and carrots. 3. Chicken rice bowl: Reasonably tasty, but not spectacular. 3. Beef rice bowl: The bulgogi sauce on the beef was tasty, but the beef itself was quite gristly, so I don't recommend this. 2. Crab rangoon: Pretty much what you'd expect, i.e. tasty. 4. Spicy crab rangoon: "Spicy" should be in quotation marks, as on a spiciness scale of 1 to 5, this was about a 1. Still tasty, but don't order them expecting to be breathing fire afterward. 4. Overall, I found Heoya's offerings pretty tasty, and as others have mentioned, the guy working the truck is super friendly as well. Recommended. read more

My husband and I heard about this place from a friend so we decided to go try it. When we got there, the man making the food was very friendly and talked to us even while we were waiting for our food. We ordered the Korean barbecue tacos, the spring rolls, the fire Rangoon, and the Korean fries. Everything was delicious! I kept eating after I was physically sick because it was so good. OK, I'm updating my review. Because a friend that I trust so much in matters of food kept going back and raving, I decided to try Heoya again today. They definitely redeemed themselves. Today, instead of meat that made me want to throw up, I was served chicken that was fabulous. I had the chicken Bahn Mi. It was delicious. I'm giving 3 stars because of the pork experience.
