    Vegan sushi

I love Asian Cafe. Never had a bad experience. Pretty much the only restaurant at the lake to get vegan food. Several vegan sushi rolls + tofu hibachi! Sometimes they'll do egg-free fried rice for us but sometimes they just make us get white rice. Either way we enjoy it, especially for how cheap it is and good portion sizes. Vegan rolls include Vegetable roll, avocado roll, oshinko roll, Inari (tofu skin)

    House soup

The food here is awesome- and you can't beat that price for the amount of food you get. The service is awesome and the people are super nice. Jim and Ling are genuinely amazing people. It's a calming environment and has traditional decorations that add to the visual experience. The house soup is one of my favorite things that comes with an entree. Everyone in my family knows to slide their soup over to me My favorite dish is the shrimp hibachi. The sushi is also awesome.

Shrimp were like rubber could not even chew them up they seem to be store-bought really they're so bad right now even I look at them and they're terrible. The l Yokohama ramen was covered in terms of pork which was the main thing in the ramen the noodles were cold hard to eat and no flavor no soups in it one piece of seaweed about the size of a silver dollar. Overall I am completely disappointed and every part of the meal I do have one good compliment which is I left my wallet on the counter and return to find it in the same place which was good I just wish it would have been placed to the side so nobody could walk up and kick it. It was my fault for doing that but I really appreciate the person. I just returned my so-called Japanese food from last night because I have health condition I could not make it back out but it was so bad I had to take it back. The owner starts yelling at me so does the lady saying I fresh cooked all this there's no way in hell that was tempura shrimp and fresh cooked it was store-bought and I know what store-bought shrimp looks like and I'm going to bring him back a sample of it but neither one of them are from Japan at River bend in Japan and it doesn't even taste Japanese and most of the reviews I read thinking it's a Chinese place Chinese food doesn't take like this Japanese food doesn't take like this. The man continued to argue with me about how good it was in San he cooked it fresh he did not cook it there was only the woman in there and she was trying to say she didn't cook it and I walked back there to see it and she was cooking. Very disappointed he gave me half my money back which is not good business he has no understanding of Japanese culture at all people don't treat people like that in Japan I don't treat like people like that because I always felt like I was Japanese. Very disappointing

We stopped in late evening, on our way to the Amherst area…read more Both my husband and I thought ramen would hit the spot. I'm a vegetarian and the language barrier was definitely a slight issue, since I didn't know how to express my likes and dislikes. It wound up being a bit of an issue for my husband too, since spicy foods aggravate his respiratory system. It was a circus show. Luckily we ordered fried tofu and that was absolutely amazingly delicious! They gave me some wasabi and I was in heaven. (I like heat...) The ramen broth was not very flavorful, but the noodles and veggies were nicely cooked. Servers were kind, even with the huge birthday party in the side room. Parking was a little sketchy. No lighting along the side of the building. Restaurant was clean, as were the loos. I think I'd try them again, if only for the tofu. Did I tell you how amazing the fried tofu was?!?!

We started with the Chicken Karaage, which was delicious and juicy, just as expected. My partner and I shared the Sashimi Platinum platter with 17 pieces. Unfortunately, the fish wasn't particularly fresh--comparable to what you might find at a Korean supermarket. We also tried the Salmon Two Ways roll, which was tasty, but I wished the rolls were larger and had more fish, as I could barely taste it. My partner ordered the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen with a side of spicy paste. The ramen was decent but nothing special. The spicy paste was disappointing--not spicy at all--only adding color and a bit more flavor to the broth, without the heat we were hoping for. Overall, it's a cute spot for a quiet dinner, but I don't see it getting too busy.

They never brought soy sauce for the sushi and the noodles that were supposed to be yakisoba were definitely not and were more like a flat rice noodle. The food was barely hot and the flavor was bland at best. The yum yum sauce was a plastic like texture. The soda was basically syrup with almost no carbonation. It's beyond me how this place has 4 stars. I would never go here again.

Sometimes the rolls are a little loose and fall apart when I go to pick up a piece with my chopsticks. Even if they're rolled seemingly good enough, I'm curious if the rice is cooked correctly or is the appropriate amount of sticky, because so much of it comes off in my soy sauce dish which can be a bit annoying. But everything I've had here is actually very tasty; I've tried their hibachi dinners, a couple of bento box options, and several different appetizers, but I mostly just stick with the sushi. The owners and their daughters (who are kids but work as hostesses) are very nice. None of the waiters or waitresses stay long enough for me to get to know them. This will probably stay in my top 3 restaurants that I like to visit most in Farmville.

In case you have never been they offer steaks that are cooked in a brick fire oven. AMAZING I ordered the VA sirloin which was cooked to perfection (medium rare) with creamed spinach and potatoes. The creamed spinach and the potatoes were very delicious and flavorful. I also ordered the fried oysters which were great. Not overly fried and still maintained the texture and flavor of a typical oyster. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very entertaining and helpful. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She ensured that wanted for nothing. The ambiance was great. I loved the cow theme as well as the signage that stated "no well done steaks". It was a great touch. Overall, I had a great experience. If I am in Charlottesville again I will definitely visit.
