Bourbon chicken from Asian Chao is the dish by which all other culinary items are compared. Food of the gods for $6.

I was skeptical when we chose to eat a P.F. Chang's at 8 PM on Good Friday, but our experience was…read morereally an encouragement. We arrived and the restaurant wasn't terribly busy. The hostess was attentive and engaging as she asked us for our seating preferences. We ended up sitting at a booth designed for four people sitting side-by-side. Our incredibly energetic and quite pleasant server, Amanda, then visited us to talk about the menu, take our drink orders, and get to know us. We began the evening with the shared house salad. It was a generous serving of romaine lettuce, croutons, and sesame dressing. We enjoyed it thoroughly. For our entrées, my girlfriend got Mongolian beef and I got an off the menu trio of beef, chicken, shrimp, and broccoli. Both dishes were generous without being excessive, well-cooked, appropriately presented, and tasty. We ordered the brown rice as the accompaniment, which was a good choice for us. Amanda was very helpful in guiding our choices without being intrusive. We accompanied dinner with a glass of Pinot Noir and Cabernet respectively, which was fine. No complaints. For dessert we got a very interesting banana spring roll and ice cream dish. It was delightfully tasty, not too sweet, and the perfect capstone to a lovely evening. We happily took about half of our dinner home for lunch tomorrow. All in all it was an exceptional experience, including the very friendly and fun-loving couple next to us. The ambience of the restaurant is dark without being foreboding; classically decorated as you experience the PF Chang Brand, with convenient parking and location. My only comment, and I have to dig deep for this one, is that the ambient music is incompatible with the restaurant's theme. It was some pseudo pop music droning on, which has no connection to the Brand. I would think some interesting Asian-fusion themes would be delightful.

dirty, slow service, food has gone downhill We met friends…read morefor an early dinner. Had reservations that indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived, they never checked the reservation and never acknowledged our anniversary. If you are going to ask, then do something ... otherwise you just piss off people :( We were there early, hardly anyone in the restaurant. Floors and tables were dirty. Our table was sticky and hostess wiped things off the table as she seated us. For all that there seemed to be a lot of wait staff, our service was slow. We ordered some sparkling wine (1/2 off on Wednesday). Served in the wrong type of glass. Bottle placed in ice bucket but with no towel so whenever we topped off our glasses, water/condensation dripped everywhere. Need I say that the waitstaff never stopped by to top off the wine/water glasses themselves. The lettuce wraps sure have changed over the year. Back in the day, you received 3 sauces that you good mix to your own taste. Last evening, well, I don't know what that sauce was, maybe day old dumpling sauce? and there was very little of it especially considering that the lettuce wraps are generally something you share. We orderd the honey shrimp, chang's spicy chicken, and pepper steak. None of them are worth writing about except to say that they were hardly worth the price. Got the desserts to go. They were just ok, too. By the time we left ... 6:30 ish there were very few people there. Not surprising HARD PASS. Too many other, great options out there.

China Gate is Chinese restaurant in South Euclid. You'll find it at Cedar Center North Plaza. It's…read morea convenient stop if you're shopping nearby. Also, a central destination if you're tracking from South Euclid, Cleveland Heights, or Beachwood. I was craving Chinese food for dinner and stopped here for takeout. It won't be by regular takeout destination. AMBIANCE: China Gate is a takeout only place. The restaurant is very small and not so clean. Half of the restaurant and seating is obstructed by random boxes and storage. There are three tiny tables inside. The chairs and tables are affixed to each other with little room between the two. It's impossible to sit comfortably. It was very uncomfortable to even sit and wait for takeout. Dining in is not a good option. FOOD: The menu is multi-page containing options like combo plates, soups, fried rice, lo mein, and other familiar favorites. Spicy dishes are clearly denoted in the menu. There is a pink sheet with up charges for items - oil, soy sauce, fortune cookies, and others. I ordered Sesame Seed Chicken Combo Plate ($14) and Wonton Soup ($6.50). There were plenty of problems with my order. The main one being it wasn't quite my order. Sesame Seed Chicken Combo Plate comes with pork fried rice and egg roll. My order came with small white rice, no egg roll. There was a generous portion of chicken (container full) but it was awful. It was not a cohesive dish. Some pieces were very dry, others too soggy. Some were sweet, others a bit sour. The chicken was not evenly coated in sesame seed and honey sauce. So it was essentially half sauced. The sauce tasted like honey from honey bear container that was extremely diluted. The sesame seeds tasted slightly burned. The entire dish was bland - not sweet, not salty, nothing. Won Ton soup was not good. The broth was considerably darker than similar soup at other places. There was too much onion. The won tons had a lot of dough and teeny tiny meat pieces inside. Single pieces of meat were nice but they were too fatty. Overall, the soup was too concentrated/dark soup base but also lacking flavor. SERVICE: Service was chaotic. I walked in to place an order in person. The employee took orders of multiple people calling in before acknowledging me. I was standing right in front of her. She was raising her voice at customers on the phone and almost arguing about what the orders contained. I will say that there were lots of questions asked to ensure that the orders were right on the phone. Average wait time provided was 10-15 minutes. My order was up very quickly. Overall, I found service to be very unwelcoming and too animated. SOUVENIRS: Cute glass and ceramic Chinese horoscope figurines are available at the counter. It is unclear if they are for sale, no prices are listed on them. PARKING: Large parking lot is available at this plaza. Plenty of places to park. I was pretty disappointed with my visit. I didn't get the right order. My order was not tasty at all. I'll sound silly, but after tasting my meal, I strongly considered immediately going to another Chinese restaurant for another takeout. I will not be returning because no part of my visit was satisfying.
