    Monday, 5 August 2024 -- outside
    Agnes I.

I first visited on a Monday in early August 2024, for dinner, with a Yelp friend, Kathy. She had heard of this restaurant during COVID (2021 or 2022) but I hadn't heard of it so I was happy to check it out. I didn't know this was a self service restaurant until I entered with my friend SERVICE (3/5) -- It was simple but I have no complaints. The complimentary tea is a nice touch (you serve this yourself in a small plastic cup). This isn't a regular restaurant though. It is more of a takeaway establishment because you have to go up to the counter to order, they serve your food in a plastic container (it doesn't matter whether it is dine-in or takeout order, you will get plastic utensils and container), and they provide plastic cups for water. The host was direct and to the point when you go up to him to order. There is no small talk initiated but I think I did notice a smile out of him. After we ordered, he then brought my friend and I our food to the table. He didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink because you have to order everything at once at the counter when you initially enter the restaurant. FOOD (3.5/5) -- I enjoyed what I ordered. I got the Indonesian Fried Rice which cost $14.95 for a dinner size plate. There were 2 pieces of chicken in the container - fried, crispy pieces and regular un-fried pieces that were dry. The oil or sauce given helped to make the un-fried chicken less dry. The rice was cooked well and had some flavour. There was a small egg on top of the whole dish. I had hardly eaten all day so I was hungry. I almost finished the whole container of food. I ate the leftovers the following day (Tuesday) in the evening by candlelight since Cleveland lost electricity on that day starting at 4pm. Overall, my experience here was between a 3.5/5 and a 4/5 experience. A 3/5stars is fair considering that I have only tried 1 item on the menu so far. I don't live close so I'm unsure I'll be back. If I'm in the Cleveland Heights area then I won't mind ordering the Indonesian Fried Rice or trying something else on the menu. **** GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024 - 84/150 total reviews in 2024 - 734 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 10 August 2024

I've tried to come here two other times to dine in (once for a date!) and they were just very slow to open for dine-in. Happy to say that I was finally able to eat here and try their offerings! They are still not full service, which is fine with me! You just order at the counter, seat yourself and grab any utensils, water or napkins that you may need. All of that is dandy but the service is quite slow. It was a little slow and chaotic when I came in because there wasn't anyone at the counter and 2 others were there waiting on their pickup order. I noticed that it took 10+ minutes to pick up an order and they did not try to acknowledge or take any other orders during that time. The menu looked pretty vast and I'd definitely be up to try different dishes next time. I got the yakisoba noodles with pork and it tasted fine but the menu mentioned that there would be egg in the dish which there was none. Wish there were more noodles because they were so delicious but there was too much rough cut vegetables and large chunks of meat. My pork looked and tasted more like chicken breast pieces and were overdone. Portions were reasonable as you can see from the picture. One more thing to mention is that there is no AC and hardly any circulation of air. We met on a hot day and it was stifling and pretty uncomfortable inside. I would suggest choosing a much cooler day to dine in! My fellow diner ordered the Indonesian fried rice with fried chicken pieces and boy, that looked BOMB. I'm definitely trying something like that next time!

Possibly my favorite place in the world. Best pad thai I've ever had. Best wait staff ever. They know me and my order and always make it a pleasant experience. If I could go every day, I would.

Chicken basil fried rice and Gyoza (Steamed or Fried) (6 Pcs.)

This has become my favorite to eat. Chicken basil fried rice and gyoza! So delicious. I didn't get the mango sticky rice this time but will the next time! And the cherry on top? I got a cute Tree Country key chain!!! Love it!!!! The food is pipping hot and I thought I'd leave a review this time before it is gone! Lol

My first time ordering from Tree Country Bistro was for chicken pad thai takeout. IMHO, Pearl Asian Kitchen (RIP) had the best chicken pad thai in the east side area. Anyway, the interior is a bit dingy and not fancy in the slightest but I'm not taking that into consideration with my review here as I only did takeout. Since I ordered from the slightly more expensive dinner menu, the portion was generous with noodles and tasty chicken. The sauce tasted sweet, like it had honey added into it and the medium spice level was the perfect level of spice I think there should have been more eggs in my pad thai as well as way more veggies than the scarce amount of scallions included. Nevertheless, I thought my meal was very tasty and will definitely order pad thai from here when the craving hits again.

The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. I would eat here any time! The Thai tea is very good

Great casual spot for Thai food! Service is good, and I'd highly recommend the country pad Thai, a spicy and flavorful version of pad Thai that comes with both shrimp and chicken. The regular pad Thai was less impressive. They have a great lunch deal too, which gives you miso, salad, and your choice of two other half entrees - I got sushi and pad Thai. I think i will be back often!

Prices online didn't match the nearly $16 per entree I paid tonight which is incredibly overpriced. The Panang and Massaman curries I asked to be very mild and the Panang was still painfully spicy. The Panang- similar to the last two times- was overbearingly fishy not due to seafood as the meat (it was tofu) but probably due to too much fish sauce. It was so bad this time that I almost gagged when I got it open at home. It was over the top fishy and just nasty. They've run out of luck from me as I won't pay this much money for such bad food.

Great lunch spot in coventry! I've been here a couple times and gotten the sushi/pad thai combo. It comes with both salad and soup. Sushi is average. Thai food is great!I've been able to compare the country pad thai to the regular pad thai. If you are not afraid of a little spice, go for the country version- its way more flavorful while the regular is more bland. This place also sells japanese, korean, vietnamese food, but I do feel like the thai food is king here.

I went for carryout the other night and was so happy I did. The online ordering process was easy and efficient. On the end of a strip center on Euclid Ave in Willoughby. The parking lot was full and several people were standing outside waiting. So, I would say it would be wise to have reservations. The food was extraordinary. I mean it was sensational. If you like Japanese cuisine, this is the place. We tried 5 different items and everything was wonderful. I had to add more to my parking because I already saw how slow the service was but we felt bad leaving. There was a party that came in after us and didn't get any menus or greeted or anything for about 15-20 minutes so they left. Another party came and sat, ordered but then left as soon as the salads came out (I overheard something about the orders being wrong but still I felt bad the food was wasted). After the initial wait (where we bussed our own menus, dishes and napkins) everything else actually finished in an appropriate time period where the whole dinner took about 1.5 hours. I tried the beef bulgogi, seafood stir fry, soft shell crab app and the calamari app. The calamari was pretty frozen tasting, the bimbimbap wasn't very good due to the strange ground chicken, the bulgogi was actually decent but came with two raw baby carrots (old and wrinkled) and raw broccoli which was odd. We had to ask for sauce for the poke and it basically was a salad with raw fish on top... not super impressed overall especially since we have to pay for parking. Seafood stir fry barely had any seafood and the noodles/sauce tasted packaged. This place is attached to the theater so it's easy for people heading to see a show but other wise I'd avoid this place. Only redeeming quality is that the owner (I think?) was very sweet. The best dish we got was the soft shell crab but even then there wasn't a lot of it.

They were still doing some setup but came and seated us fairly quickly. She gave us just a minute to look at the menu and took our drink orders. We were ready to order when she came back. From their menu it looked like you had three options for all you can eat but none said sushi was included. We had planned on having to purchase a couple rolls of sushi but when my husband asked our server said all the sushi at the sushi bar was included with the all you can eat bbq. We were super happy to hear that. It worked out perfectly, while we were grilling our meat selections we enjoyed our sushi. This is the first Korean/Asian bbq we've been to that was truly offered up like a buffet. You just walk up to the buffet and get the meats, seafood or veggies you want and help yourself. We kinda liked that. Beats waiting for your server to check back in with you and you control how much you get of what. They also had a parchment paper with oil that they put over the grill. That really helped both keep the smoke down and kept things from sticking. Another new thing we also liked. We were there for about an hour although if you really want to you can be there for two hours before you get timed out. I was stuffed and so were my husband and son. We especially liked their Korean beef, the peeled shrimp and the pork belly. The steak was tender but you definitely want to season it. I didn't locate that until way late in the cooking when my son discovered it over with the sauces. The garlic butter was great cooked on the shrimp. They did have a small bar with cake, oranges, watermelon and cookies for dessert option. We skipped that after filling up on the proteins. There were a couple of meats I missed that weren't on the bar but all in all I would return. They're getting ready to open a revolving sushi bar next door that's AYCE so we may have to try that next. Go, grill and enjoy!

Where else can you get all-you-can-eat sashimi, sushi rolls, hibachi, and other appetizers for under 30 bucks? I went here for dinner, and for $28.99, I got a whole lot of sashimi, sushi rolls, hibachi scallops, shumai, strawberry ice cream, etc. Everything was delicious. The sashimi tasted great, and the sushi rolls were filling, though thankfully, Kintaro doesn't go too heavy on the rice. I thought the hibachi scallops were better than a lot of non-AYCE hibachi restaurants. They were tender and flavorful, and if I wasn't absolutely stuffed from the sashimi and sushi, I would have gotten another order of scallops. Everything tasted fine, so we just assumed it was a communication issue. So we came back, this time it had a quarter of the menu and the quality took a sharp dive. Pretty amazing since it had been less than a week. Most of the menu was missing, our waiter seemed clueless, nice but clueless. I've never been to a hotpot that didn't have quail eggs all day. All the grill meat came out frozen, the cuts were thin and bad. The green peppers tasted like the blade that cut them, dry and metallic. I don't know that was way too wild a swing in quality we won't be back. We can't win with hotpot in Ohio it seems, for how much hotpot is in the US, I expect better than this. Kpot is still the worst but this last time at Kintaro is up there. Guess I'm looking for another hotpot place. I see a handful of Kung Fu Tea reviews on here which doesn't belong. Anyways, been here several times already and can honestly say that the food and service is consistent every time! Appetizers I have tried are Onion Soup and Gyoza. Side orders I have tried are Shrimp Tempura and Brown Rice. Sushi that I have tried are Little Delicious Roll, Spider Roll, Ohio Roll, and Kenko Roll. The Teriyaki I have gotten the 3 item option of Shrimp, Chicken, and Beef. The Onion Soup($1.95) is basically Miso Soup with crispy fried onions which is what exactly it tastes like. Pretty good if you like onions. The Gyoza($4.95) on the menu it says it's a shrimp pot sticker but on my receipt is says chicken. Whatever it is, it's just your basic steamed pot sticker that is pan fried on one side. Tastes good especially when you dip it in the gyoza sauce that comes with it. The Shrimp Tempura($2) was a bit disappointing. The one I got was definitely not fresh for it wasn't even lukewarm. At least it was a little bit crispy but the fact that it was obviously not freshly cooked was a major turn off and will probably not order again. The Brown Rice($1.50) is a good alternative to white rice. Same flavor but healthier for you. The Little Delicious Roll($13.95), Spicy Tuna, Imitation Crab, Cream Cheese, Avocado, and Cucumber. Lightly fried and then topped with Spicy Mayo and Eel Sauce. There's nothing little about this roll. Tastes best as soon as it is served to you. Had some leftovers for breakfast, was good but did not taste as good when it was freshly made. The Spider Roll($11.95), Soft Shell Crab, Radish Sprout, Avocado, and Cucumber. Topped with Wasabi Mayo and Eel Sauce. This roll was just ok. I have had better Spider Rolls elsewhere. The Ohio Roll($10.95), Shrimp, Imitation Crab, Avocado, Cucumber, and Asparagus. Topped with Wasabi Mayo. What made this roll stand out is the asparagus. It was decent. The Kenko Roll($12.95) Shrimp Tempura, Imitation Crab, Cucumber, Avocado, and Cream Cheese. Wrapped in Soy Paper with Miso Glaze. This roll has good flavor and is just as good served after refrigeration. The common theme for all these rolls is that they contain most of the same ingredients except for 1 or 2 items. My favorites are the Kenko and Litlle Sushi Roll. The Teriyaki Bowl($13.95 for 3 items) this is the price for 3 items on their menu but on my receipt it says $15.95 plus $2 each for Shrimp and Beef which doesn't make any sense. Of course I opted for all 3 meats. Comes with veggies and white or brown rice. I opted for no rice, just all veggies. I added sauteed mushrooms one time for an extra $1.50. This bowl is just big enough to satisfy your appetite. The teriyaki sauce they throw on top gives it the good flavor you expect. Service wise, when you come in, if you are wanting sushi, you order on the left side of the counter and everything else you want to order, including Kung Fu Drinks, are towards the right. Make sure you mention your sushi order when ordering other things. You pay and then they call out your name when your order is ready. Overall, I have been coming here 1 to 2 times a week as part of my dinner rotation since I am working a contract over at the the University Hospital just a block away. Will definitely miss this place once my contract is up. Yelp 2022 Review #41 892 overall
