I've been intrigued to try this for a few years ago, but finally had an excuse when a friend got me a gift card to here. It was for an hour long foot massage, but being the nice mother than I am I took my 13 year old daughter with me...and we each went for a 30 minute foot massage. The foot massage is paired with a head massage, which didn't really appeal to us so we asked for foot/shoulder. They said no problem. They took us into the backroom filled with several massage beds and there were a few people in there getting massages. Definitely no frills and my daughter looked at me like "mom- where did you take me?" but one they started the massage she relaxed. The hardest part was likely giving up her phone for 30 minutes. You also keep your clothes on for these massages (fortunately since there are other people in the room). My daughter was a little weirded out by the clothes off part for her very first teen massage in the Dominican Republic last winter break so this was preferred. It was a great massage and went by too fast. I thought 30 minutes was good for feet/shoulders, but they do offer more of a full body massage so I'd opt for an hour then. There was a little confusion when we checked out and tried to use our gift card since no one there spoke much English, but once i talked into an app which translated for him we figured it all out...and were on our way. I was happy I had cash on me for the gratuity since he was having trouble understanding when I asked for his venmo. I left feeling relaxed and wondered why it took me so long to get here. I am really sorry but this massage was complete torture for me! I have been to foot spas before and never had I endured such roughness and pain. I must have said at least 5 times to ease the pressure but either the masseuse did not understand or completely ignored my request even though she must have seen me in agony. She was rough from the first moment she laid hands on my body. When she started to scrape my scalp back and forth I realized I was in for more pain. I feel they have to have much better communication with their clients but how if they don't speak any English at all. My husband and I had a very disappointing experience at this place. The masseuses we had were quite inexperienced and midway through the session I just wanted to get up and leave. I thought it was fine but not like the best massage I ever got. For 30 bucks you'd be silly not to do it again though but I'm still a private room, more relaxing -spa -setting -type -of -massage guy. The massage I got was a bit weird actually. I was lying on their 3/4 length bed with my legs hanging over soaking in a warm bath when all of a sudden some girl comes out of nowhere and starts working on my shoulders from behind. No hello, no hi I'm Kiko or whatever (I just made up name). Another freaky part was when she turned me over and practically mounted me and massaged me with her knees and entire body. If you ever saw the movie The Grudge you'd kinda know my experience because when she was on top of me her hair fell on my head and I can feel her hair and her deep breathing coming from behind her mask she had to wear. It was bizarre and I felt suffocated for a brief moment. I think next time I'll ask for someone else less scary. I just wish I was told the Massage person is gonna be on top of you. This was an amazing and unexpected treat. The foot massage lasts an hour is actually a full body massage that includes a wonderful foot soaking and thorough rubbing. It's also a deal at $30. I have to be honest here, but I was totally underwhelmed. It's not a spa (and I wasn't expecting one). But I expected an experience similar to when I've been to asian foot spas before, and it just fell short. First big problem is the language barrier. I requested a 60 minute combo (30 minute massage, 30 minute foot massage). 45 minutes into the back massage, I realized that we had had a misunderstanding. She thought I just wanted a 60 minute massage (even though I said combo and pointed at the combo on the "menu"). Annoying, but not the end of the world - I paid for my 60 minute massage and scheduled a separate 30 minute foot one for the next day. As for the massages themselves: 1. With the body massage, the language barrier was an issue. She was really rough. And I have a high pain tolerance and even like a good, slightly painful, deep massage, but she had me crying out in pain. And didn't ever lessen the pressure or ease up. I expect my massages to be moderately unpleasant, but this went way beyond that. Frankly, I'm still in a bit of pain (tenderness) 2 days later. Thankfully she didn't hurt me in any damaging way - in fact, I'm actually moving much better - the massage did work, I'm just sore. She did really seem to know what she was doing as far as where there were pressure points and where to go/how to move. Esepcially on my hips. It just was a bit too much for me. 2. The foot massage was nowhere near as good as I had hoped. He just moved SO quickly. Seriously, I'm used to reflexology massages being slow and very intentional. Instead, I felt like the areas on the bottoms of my feet that needed the most attention were kind of neglected in favor of my ankles and shins/calves. Mostly, the speed just made it much less relaxing. When he did a brief head massage at the end (which was also unnecessary), he was jabbing his fingers into my skull, which is a real problem for me, as I'm prone to nasty headaches. I'll probably give the place another chance (well, at least for the foot part, we'll see about the back massage...) - the prices really can't be beat and the environment was really nice. read more

My sister gave me a gift certificate that was about to expire, and after recently having some sharp tightness in my back, I felt like the timing was perfect & I was excited to check it out - even paying a few bucks more for an hour full body massage. You know those great massages from your past where your endorphins are firing hard from a therapeutic massage, or a pleasurable massage where you fight to stay awake so you don't miss any of your 60 mins of pure bliss ... well, this was not one of those experiences. First thing I noticed is that this is a more communal experience, with only pulled curtains providing separation while other massages were happening near by in large open room. It didn't get in my way too much, but it was hard to be in the moment when at times you are listening to a client and masseuse talking 10 feet to your left. I'm glad I read a few reviews that said you are mostly clothed during your massage so I wasn't in jeans and a heavy top. My largest issues was that few employees could speak English. Once getting to Port Clinton Mall, I called and asked how to find their store and they had to put a customer on the phone to see if he could help but to no avail. Asking random strangers walking the mall got me there on time. When I walked in and shown my room, I was puzzled. Seeing two makeshift beds, one bed 5 ft long, one 2 ft long with a bucket of water between then, I wondered how I was going to lay down being 6.3". At one point I thought they were telling me they wanted my face in the bucket of water and it took four people in my room to get to someone that said it was for my feet! My masseuse was professional and very sweet - yet our language barrier made it almost impossible to review simple things with her such as being mindful of my recent achilles surgery and where I have tightness to work on - and most importantly, having her apply 40% less pressure. After a few minutes of wincing from pain, I asked her to ease up, only to last for 2 enjoyable minutes before returning to her Ninja ways. After raising it for a second time to enjoy a few more good minutes only to have her return to full pressure, I was resigned that I would settle in for a massage that rotated between pleasure and pain. When on my back, she played a towel over my face to focus on my torture, I mean massage. I was thankful so it could hide my grimace from either pain or complete shock, ie: placing my hands above my head and placing her hands over my arm pits and pushing down hard, to inserting her index fingers inside my ears and giving my ear drums a deep penetrating massage (&%@#!). My 2 stars go to how sweet my masseuse was, along with a great back massage with oils, along with a foot massage that was so detailed I started counting the 15+ different ways she was able to massage my feet. I think the best thing I can say about this place is it's an experience. For $30, I got a 60 minute, "full body" "massage." Yes, that's a lot of quote, but there are a lot of caveats. First of all, this is not like, a real massage, it's like a nail salon pedicure massage, but on your arms and legs and back. it was frequently painful and at several points it seemed like maybe they were just digging their knuckles into my body. But that doesn't mean it wasn't enjoyable, it WAS, it was just like, 70% enjoyable. Also, in the beginning when they rub your face, you are wrapped in a giant towel and have your feet in very hot water, so it's warm, to say the least. But you know, it's THIRTY DOLLARS. That is amazing. I wish I could have given a few more instructions-- it's one size fits all, even if you are visibly squirming, they do not change course. But that is part of the charm, I think? Everyone should go here. I want to bring all of my friends. It was weird and very, very close to wonderful. I will probably be back. OH, this is something I wish I had known-- this massage is done when you are fully clothed, so ladies, I recommend wearing workout clothes-- capris and a tank top, maybe? We had reservations at 11:30am on a Sunday and when we got there they took us right away. There were not many people inside. The place was very clean, but there was an underlying odor, I couldn't tell what it was. They started by soaking our feet in hot water and then proceeded to give us a complete body massage that lasted a full hour. This was 30 dollars- you can't beat that. It would have been nice to tell them to work on a certain area more than others, but they don't speak very good English there, so be prepared to just smile and nod. Unique massage experience in Highland Park. Never experienced Asian massage but good deal of typical Swedish and deep tissue massage. Having read the reviews ahead of time, my husband I came in expecting a non-traditional massage and open to a new experience. There is a bit of a language barrier so probably not the best if you have a medical condition or need anything specific or are very sensitive. Probably could still work for you, but just harder as depends on who you get. Recommend just "going with it" and letting them do their thing and embracing it. It's slightly like an assembly line take to massage and bizarre the first time. The setting reminds me of a hospital ER or something with multiple rooms and rows of beds with curtains dividing. There is no discussion ahead of time or form to fill out with medical history. But you come in and within 5 minutes you're on a table. We were gestured to lay in a certain area and did so. My husband was told to remove his shirt as he was lying down. I wore yoga pants and a loose-fitting t-shirt and they use towels to preserve some modesty and focus on certain areas. About 5 minutes into the massage, the adult man undid my bra which was unexpected (but side note: more impressive was his expertly re-hooking it at the end with zero fumbling.) Because the whole thing felt so non-personal and more just "we're going to do what we need to do" attitude, there's very little talking or in my case zero talking, so it didn't feel inappropriate, more just like this (your bra) is in the way and I'm getting it out of the way so I can get where I need to on your back. Also, I was lying two feet from my husband and otherwise fully clothed, which helped it not to feel weird. But next time I'd recommend women to wear a camisole or tank top with built-in bra or go without so you can avoid this situation. Also when it came time to do the side of my legs, it was more hands grabbing muscles. Typically in gluteal regions for Western massage they would be more using the wrists and other side of hands, this is not the case, they just grabbed with booty with hands and get the knots out. Again, it'd be weird if you weren't fully clothed and maybe offensive if you didn't know this is normal. My husband had a woman basically straddling him and pounding on his back with her fists. He said afterwards she like yanked his pants down lower so could get to the top of his booty area/low back. It made for a unique date night to say the least and afterwards we grabbed a late dinner and chuckled over the strangeness of it all. Although it was sometimes slightly painful, our backs felt great afterwards and the next day a little sore but in a good way. So if you go, embrace that it's different and I tried to include the info in this review that I wish I knew ahead of time for proper attire and what to expect. And as a female I would have found it uncomfortable to go alone the first time, or worried it was inappropriate touching. But I'd definitely return and for the price it was well worth it. read more

A little secret discovery in Highland Park a few girlfriends and I found recently. Looks a bit, odd when you walk in because there are small, low to the ground beds right next to one another, no separate individual rooms. They offer massages (w/your clothes on). We expected just a foot and back rub but what we got was a full body massage. It was good, wasn't amazing but definitely relaxing and worth it for the $30 for an hour. I have been to other similar massage places, and this one is as good as, if not better than those. I have been to Asia itself so I know what to expect. My husband and I walked in ff the street, they immediately greeted us and gave us a menu to choose from. As an athlete, I knew I needed some deep tissue work, and AFS certainly fit the bill. My masseuse was male, he was strong and capable. He found my knots an avoided a problem area I pointed out to him. I need a hard massage, lots of pressure to work out areas in my lower back and shoulders. He found them, without my speaking to him, worked on them.
