I've bounced around trying to find a great LMT over the years and once in a while I found someone really good and stuck with them for a period. I've gotten massage mostly in the States but also while traveling thru Canada, Prague, Paris, Berlin... I've found that on average, LMT's seem to be the best overall here at home. I've been getting weekly massages from Stephanie for chronic back issues since January. She…read morerecently left the practice where she'd been working to open her own space, and I've followed her there. Stephanie does some things differently from other massage therapists and I absolutely love her techniques. She follows a practice called Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing) that incorporates the sights, sounds, and scents of the forest into your time with her. Her space has scenes, colors, and objects that represent nature and the scent of conifer transports you to a peaceful outdoor setting. Stephanie also uses weighted heat wraps and pads to soothe and loosen muscles as she works on you. I LOVE THE HEAT! While Stephanie is working on one part of my achy body, the weighted heat pads are working on all the other parts. Stephanie's music has the sounds of the forest and a chorus of gorgeous birdsong, too, which does wonders for my spirit. I find that Stephanie has an intuitive sense about what my body needs and will focus on that area and connected areas for as long as she needs to in order to make sure I'm getting the therapeutic benefit. She frequently goes over time (she checks to make sure it's okay, first) and doesn't charge me for it. She's got a warm, caring, kind personality and I feel safe and cared for in her hands.

Her chair massage can easily be done while waiting on one of the neighboring salons or estheticians, and adds moist heat (to relax the muscles) and tapotement to really work out any kinks. Totally worth the trip to Highland Park to get a world class massage.
