I really loved my visit here. I am not a huge fan of massages, because I always wonder how I can "get out of my own" head in 30-60 minutes of silence! But I had a terrible back ache from a non-athletic, low-stakes pattern of bad posture. It wasn't going away, so I figured I'd get outside help. The booking experience via phone was easy. They had openings that weren't online, so it was great that they fit me in. I also was a bit embarrassed to ask if the staff was vaccinated, since I was about to get married and wanted to protect myself/others as much as possible by insulating myself from illness. The receptionist was SO nice and told me it was a fair question. Good to note that indeed all of their staff is vaccinated. Peace of mind is good! My massage therapist, Ashley, was so nice and helped me relax. We even chatted a bit as she did the massage. I didn't walk away from it feeling perfect, but my back pain was indeed quite significant and needed some anti-inflammatory meds too. Even so, it was super helpful to alleviate a lot of the pain, so I would recommend going here, even if you're not a massage aficionado. read more

This is an updated review for me. My husband and I have been going the Therapeutics Kneads for well over a year. The concerns I had before -- just a CD of music in the room, not a "spa experience" -- just doesn't seem to matter when you're getting the most kick-ass massage in town. The front desk is always friendly. They have lots of relaxing products in the front area. I bought a buckwheat shoulder pad that you head up in the micro. They family has stolen it from me!!! Thank goodness I bought two. (Mama ain't no fool!) All of the massage therapists do a great job. I've called at the last minute to see if they had an opening and gladly took any appointment they gave me knowing all of their staff does a miraculous job. Both my husband and I are deep tissue folks. I want those knots gone! We always leave feeling refreshed and like jelly. They really know what they're doing and work hard to make sure I'm ready to get back to roughhousing with my boys without the ongoing aches and pains. Next time you're looking for a serious massage. Friendly staff, clean facility and all around great experience! From the booking to check out everything went seamlessly. I've only had a couple massages in my life prior to this one, but generally I don't like a lot of pressure. I like enough pressure for it to be relaxing, but also to loosen up tight muscles from exercising. Given my preference on pressure points, I was referred to Sam. I've never had a male massage therapist and Sam made the first experience very comfortable. At times his pressure was a little too much for me, but was able to adjust accordingly. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being a lot of pressure, I prefer a 3 and Sam was able to provide that. Another great massage therapist, is Jessie. She also does an excellent job of adjusting pressure accordingly and tailor to your needs. She makes you feel very comfortable and listens to what you want, just tell her exactly what you want and she'll provide it. Her massage was so good it made me fall asleep! All around great service and facility, easy parking too! I would definitely go back and recommend it! read more

An amazingly disappointing experience. I went in for a prenatal 60 minute massage, and although my therapist couldn't have been nicer, it wasn't as much a massage as an hour long lube up. I asked her to use more pressure, but it felt more like she was smearing me with lotion than massaging muscles. When i walked in I asked that the tension in my shoulders be relieved, and when i walked out...it hurt no less than when i walked in. This was a tremendous waste of money. read more

It took me a while to realize this but the best massages do not necessarily take place in those zen-heavy spas that offer cucumber water. In fact, the best massages are those that truly understand how the body works. Such was the massage I got from Therapeutic Kneads. It surprised me to know that this place was located within my neighborhood as I have been searching high and low for a place that I would consider my "go-to" spot when my muscles are calling it quits from running and the everyday stresses of life. I definitely knew I had to go before a long road trip. I booked a 90-minute massage and my only regret was that I could've had it for even longer. Anna, my masseuse, provided perhaps one of the best massages I've had in my life. Every knot and every tense spot were given such attention that I truly felt like butter when all was said and done. The staff members were friendly and pleasant and I appreciated that even though they offered many products for the body such as therapeutic pillows and such, no one tried to push you to buying anything. This was quite possibly the worst massage I have ever had. I would describe it as a very light rub down with no lotion/oil. After requesting pressure multiple times, I still got a rub down. Gayle I'm sure is a lovely person but the worst massage therapist I have ever been to. She didn't use any lotion/oil for 1/2 the session. Ouch!!!!!!! Pulling my skin. It was the most bizarre experience ever. Not to mention the ticking clock. DO NOT GO HERE. You're better off sitting in the massage chair at the nail salon. 60 minutes for $100. I just had a session with Chandra and am so much better for it. I got deep tissue work done and her approach was very creative and highly effective. She found the source of pain that I wasn't necessarily aware until it was gone. I also really appreciate that the intake form asks what type of music you prefer. I have been going to Therapeutic Kneads for a few years now. We were new to the area and I was looking for a regular massage place. I need regular deep tissue work to keep migraines away. At the time, their prices were right. I quickly found Deborah as my masseuse. Deborah is awesome. She is a great listener and then uses that to inform my sessions. Some people listen but don't use the information. Deborah also give me tips like stretches and such to help trouble areas. She really cares about my well-being. Not just as a client but a friend. The front desk staff are so sweet. They are professional and kind. They know you by name. Although I do like Therapeutic Kneads, their prices went up significantly about 6 months ago. It hit me kind of hard. I know businesses gotta do what they gotta do, but I felt it! read more

On a whim, I called at 1pm on a Friday and was able to book a 1 hour Swedish massage. Jessica was excellent. I was so relaxed and happy that I ended up buying a package of 4 massages for $320 (which is a savings from the normal $95 per hour rate). The package needs to be used this year but they send you a gift card with the balance if you don't use by that time. This is a pretty smart business practice. You only really save on that 4th massage and you need to get these massages in pretty short order. I also thought the buy was smart for me because it will make me come back and I want to come back soon!!!! Pretty good win-win all around! read more

I was pleased with my massage and Jennifer was great. No complaints and scheduled immediately for my second visit. Price was on par with what I expected and less than a Red Door. I didn't mind all the "extra's" as you come in and actually enjoyed checking it out. My only comment is that as I read other reviews the response by the business to reviews that were somewhat critical were met with a "snarky" response. Reviews are meant to be honest so that others know what to expect and a response that is equally unpleasant is a poor reflection on whoever management has responding. This, of course, has nothing to do with the skilled therapists and the quality of service Therapeutic Kneads offers but an observation of customer service. It's a convenient location, has easy parking and offers a quality service and expertise in areas and conditions not found in a spa environment. read more

My first experience at Therapeutic Kneads was unfortunately not good. I provided my feedback with their email questionnaire and was contacted immediately regarding my experience by Renee. She was so helpful and kind and offered for me to try the business and another Therapist another time. And I am SO GLAD that I did. I just had an appointment with Karen and she was absolutely amazing!! I would rank this in my top 3 of all time Massages (this comes from someone that has utilized Massage Therapy as a pain relief off and on for over 10 years). Karen was insightful and in tune with my body/muscles needs. I have already arranged my appointment to see her again next month. It is refreshing to find a business (especially a place that does Massages) that is extremely customer/client focused and truly appreciates your feedback. It has been hard to find places that in Chicago that compare to my previous health/physical support in Stowe, VT and I am pleased to say that I found my new home for my massages. This was a bust before even walking thru the door since they decided to charge me for canceling an appointment with less than 24 hour notice, even though I booked that appointment less than 24 hours beforehand. I'm so happy we have Therapeutic Kneads in Highland Park. I've been going there for a couple of years, and always request Chandra. She's such an expert and gives you the most heavenly massages. I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage yesterday, and went in with some discomfort on my right shoulder from a fall. Besides being a massage therapist, Chandra is also a nurse, so she knew exactly how to manipulate the shoulder. It's a true Zen experience for me from the moment I walk in to the end of my visit. I love the scent of lavender and other oils and the soft new age music in the background. Just fabulous and highly recommended. read more

My husband started going here about 3 years ago after a sports injury and physical therapist recommended. He was anti massage and came out the first time able to stand with less pain and stiffness. After 4 or so visits re recommended that I go since I was having some aches from standing and walking all day with my job. After I worked with Jennifer multiple times I began to see increased mobility and less daily aches. They ask questions and follow up from last time before your start your session so they focus on the areas you need most. The space is clean, quiet and relaxing. I have tried different add ons and therapists and have always been pleased. We value the service so much we are part of their monthly package because we get more bang for the buck. I have always had wonderful experiences with the staff both in reception and the therapists. Their work with deep tissue massage and cupping has been such an important part of my husband and my self care. Her knowledge of muscles, tissues, ligaments etc is vast. From month to month she keeps my body in good working order! I recently had hip surgery and my back was killing me. My friend suggested therapeutic kneads so I decided to go. I only went for a chair massage but they treated me like a princess! Everyone was so friendly and understanding of my situation. The massage was incredible. I woke up the next day and felt like a brand new person. Just to top it off I received a call the following day from my massage therapist checking on me to see how I felt. AMAZING!! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the nicest and friendliest front desk staff. They asked if I had any questions and offered me hot tea or water. They told me all about the services and programs. I had an amazing massage with Samuel. He was AMAZING!!! He was so sweet and made sure to address all my concerns. I have lower back pain and needed a relaxing massage. He worked his magic! It was such an amazing massage!! I was so relaxed through out the whole session. He even took some time and massaged my neck and my face it REALLY HELPED! I am no longer in anymore back pain and feeling so much better and relAxed. As soon as the massage was done he walked out with me and told me me all about the Aromatherapy that as soon as i got home put under my pillow and it's making such a big difference!!!!
