Gurl bye. That's exactly how I felt after I read all of these glowing reviews on this place. Are you guys smoking crack? Abusing prescription meds? Snorting Drywall!?!! I stopped in for lunch with my boyfriend based on the good reviews. The inside is decorated nicely. I loved how they decorated the napkins in cool stand up triangles on the tables. I ordered a watermelon smoothie to start. I was so excited that Asian Harbor actually used REAL fruit, and not a smoothie mix. I started with a Japanese appetizer called Gyoza, which was a fried dumpling that resembled a pot sticker. My boyfriend ordered pot stickers, and we actually laughed about how they were similar. The pot stickers and Gyoza were very good so I just knew I would enjoy the rest. I couldn't have been more wrong!! Anyhow lets get down to business. I ordered a Japanese dish trying to be different, and I didn't care for it. The picture shows shrimp tempura on top of noodles. I got ONE piece of shrimp??!! #MassiveFailure! The egg rolls sucked! I ordered pork egg rolls, and I swear they gave me veggie egg rolls. I cut them open and asked them to show me the meat. The waitress said the little pink dots are meat?? Crumbs! The egg rolls tasted like frozen pre made Manchu wok egg rolls. I tried my boyfriends fried rice, and it was nothing special. Lunch specials here, especially the bentos, are the best deal. Sushi is good. I have never tried their Chinese food, instead focusing on their Japanese selections, of which they have a few non-standard offerings for the suburbs. Their udon is spot-on and delicious. It's hard to find out here, and the noodles were actually, well, Japanese. An excellent example of traditional udon. The tempura is also perfect. The shrimp is breaded in panko and done in, again, the traditional style, and the vegetables were also a delight. It was a pleasure to find somewhere with relatively good Japanese food near Lewis University. I've not tried their raw sushi yet - next trip definitely! read more

In the vacuum of decent food that is Lockport, Asain Harbor stands out. Their Chinese food blows the other places in town away. Just don't expect huge three day portions to take home. They actually seem to grasp how much a normal person can eat. Their sushi is good but nothing amazing. Ive never been upset with taste or presentation and am always quite satisfied though they seem to skimp on the fish if you order a more expensive variety. Their chef specials aren't quite daring or unique but worth the order. Service is good but slow they really do try their best to make you happy. read more

Nope. "Quality" is not just liking a place once. Quality is consistency, continual improvement, and setting a standard that customers expect and are happy to return to. Asian Harbor is not on course. Tonight, we ordered a variety of items for our family for take out. The proteins were all best described as "jerkys". The chicken and beef were both over cooked, tough, and flavorless. While the shrimp and rice dishes were good, i can't tell if they were actually "good" or just good in comparison (oh, and the brown paper bag they overstuffed the takeout order into tore itself apart on the journey to the parking lot). The challenge Asian Harbor is dealing with is maintaining standards that make it worth returning to. If you recommend a restaurant to friends and family, you want it to be as good as it was for you. But if every time you go, it's a quality gamble, you'll eventually stop going. You'll eventually stop recommending it. Ultimately, it won't stay open. read more

Service was great. We ordered the AYCE sushi and were a bit disappointed. For the price, the selection was pretty minimal. The sushi was basic and nothing above ok honestly. If they aren't going to do their "all you can eat" one night they should have something posted on the window instead of letting you find out after you've sat down, started drinking and have your meal decided and then they expect you to be ready with a backup choice right there when they're ready. The staff is slow. The people that came in 5min after us were taken care of 1st. The staff has brought 2 different "to go" orders out followed by a woman from the back shouting in an Asian language as she takes the bag from them and empties it on the table next to me to change what's in there. There's a table near the bar that's been piled with dirty dishes from before I got there and sat the whole time. And when I got there we were one of two couples in seats and there were 4 people at the bar so there's no reason that table should be dirty. And make sure to look all the way down near the bar. They obviously don't think the specials should be posted near where everyone will see them. I didn't see the specials until about 5min after ordering. And on cold days, leave your jacket on. We sat 1/2 way through the place and every time the door opened you get a strong cold draft. Never had this strong of a breeze in a building like this before. But the food is good. read more

Great bistro-like setting in a strip mall. Chinese food is good, but sushi is better. Rolls aren't as inventive or over-the-top as other nearby places (in Joliet or Lemont, for example), but well prepared and fresh. Service is quick and friendly and place is immaculate. These facts alone should stick in your head when deciding. read more

Place is so good !!! I have yet to try sushi but I'm sure they are amazing! They don't cook their food in heavy oil and salt and also always get my order right- I always ask for sauces on the side to mix in my own way! This place is the best Chinese/Japanese place in Lockport :) read more

The sushi is great. I had the tiger roll that blew me away and your standard rolls that were good, albeit hard to screw up. I will definitely return for the sushi. The hibachi though.......left something to be desired. I came in thinking it was one of those cook at the table chef flinging shrimp deals. It is not. But that's ok, not everyplace needs to be that. EDIT: I just looked at the menu and they have a picture of the guy at the table cooking method. Which was not an option that I saw on site. Unfortunately the "hibachi" meals we ordered were on the bad side of crappy. The meat was sub-par and the veggies had a smokey flavor to them, which was not terribly welcome. The real kicker was that everything came out on one plate and lit seemed that they just poured a sauce over the whole deal. The salad was saddening too, the ginger dressing was more like a ginger/thousand island mix dropped over some iceberg lettuce. the whole meal was very lack luster and I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't had the chance to try the "Chinese" food yet. But I am willing and will do an update once I do. Let's hope its better than the hibachi. read more

Standard spicy tuna roll, generous amounts of fish Angel Hair - crab on top with apple inside? Heck yes. Win Dragon - Tasty eel, tasty shrimp Can't wait to try their other Specialty rolls. The regular rolls are super cheap, under $6.00, so it balances out the specialty roll prices. Also, they do offer an all you can eat sushi option for $21.00/person. Being new to the area, there truly aren't enough restaurants in Lockport for a city dweller. That being said, I stumbled upon this establishment by accident and was stupidly surprised at how good it was! The restaurant is extremely small but the sushi is definitely the star here, talk about FRESH!! Finally a place to get good Chinese/Sushi in Lockport. I was so sad when we moved here a few years ago and tried the local places to find they totally sucked. Soon as Asian Harbor opened I tried it and found my place. Go here at least once or twice a month now. My son love the Sushi (he is 8), and my daughter who is pretty picky sticks with the rice options. They are pricey but the lunch options are reasonable. I wish they delivered. read more

This place was average. I got the orange chicken with fried rice and crab Rangoon. Since I see orange chicken as one of the most basic things an Asian restaurant can have, I expected it to be solid.. Came in on a Friday night. The Chinese music playing keeps cutting in and out. Ordered crab rangoon and a Philadelphia roll as an appetizer. Dr. Pepper as a drink. Beef with garlic sauce as an entree. Wifey orders a shrimp teriyaki. Soup and salad for her comes just fine. Dr. Pepper doesn't have much syrup in it. Switched to Pepsi, same result... Sushi was wonderful, took about 20 minutes. Crab rangoons were fine as well. Ticket time for our entree was 35-40 minutes. Shrimp teriyaki comes out fine, but the beef with garlic sauce comes out cold... I wanted this to be a great experience based on the reviews I've read, but my experience of this place leaves you with unsatisifed feeling in your stomach and your wallet. read more

My absolute favorite spot to eat at in Lockport! Between the ever-friendly staff or the charming interior, I have yet to regret dining in or ordering out. However the main draw, of course, is the food. And yet again, I have yet to regret a single order. The chicken teriyaki meal is always a staple of mine, but the Godzilla roll and lo mein are both right up there. I ordered pork egg foo young dinner egg go young was ok but not great the egg roll was not crispy and it did not taste done. The fried rice was not finished cooking or it was old dried out rice because half of it was hard. The Great Wall was not open so I ordered here. Terrible! When I walked in to pick up my to go order it smelled like sewer back up. I rushed in from the 11 below wind chill to grab our valentine dinner ( sweet and sour chicken, beef and rice and 1 egg roll). When I arrived home my order was missing the sweet and sour sauce and there was only 1 small order of rice. I called to complain and let them know that they needed to deliver the missing pieces of my order as I wasn't going out in the cold again. The girl who answered the phone was nice stating they would deliver the sauce and rice. Well....they only delivered the sauce. I was furious & called back. The response from the man who answered was " they were busy and I was LUCKY they delivered the sauce & we were not getting any more rice"! So I will NEVER go there again. We just moved to the area and were excited to try this place. When we walked in, the server wouldn't even say hello...just pointed to a table there was only one other table in there and then they left. We were the only customers the entire time. He seemed annoyed to have to help us. My water was never refilled, my husband had to ask for his drink, and the steak Hibachi was undercooked. At the end of the meal, we had a coupon printed from the website that was dated January of 2017. He rudely said, "Can't you see the date? It's expired!" My husband asked why it's still on the site then if they don't honor it. It's been over a year! He said the owner has been told about it, but won't take it down. My husband and I were craving sushi so went here on a whim, not expecting much. We usually drive out to Orland for Fuji or Tokyo Steak House. We were sooo pleasantly suprised. Asian Harbor is the best thing to happen to Lockport dining in a decade! I have nothing but praise for the quality of food and the variety. The place gains more business day after day. Once you tasted some of their standards such as edamame appetizer and egg drop soup, you can move on to the more creative side. There sushi lunch specials are awesome! You can't beat the price for three rolls and soup or salad. My only complaint about the lunch specials are that they aren't available on Sundays so you basically end up paying double which kinda stinks I've had the Chinese food lunch special and it was ok, I'd defiantly recommend the sushi! read more

Asian harbor is awesome! It tastes like homemade. Everything is always fresh and hot. You never get twice heated fried rice it's still light and fluffy when you get it. I've tried a lot on the menu from sushi to hibachi to orange chicken and egg foo young and I haven't had a bad meal yet. So glad to have quality food near the house. read more
