I can't even believe they don't have 5 stars. The food is amazing. The people are so friendly. I live 30 minutes away from them, so I don't get it as often as I would like to, but we try to make the 1 hour trek at least once a month. It is ALWAYS worth it. Today I was hesitating spending the time - but I'm so happy we went. Dinner was delicious! We always get the Mongolian Beef (and they specially make vermicelli pasta - fried - it is AMAZING), sweet and sour chicken, combo fried rice, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. Ordered shrimp fried rice, shrimp lo mein, and an order of egg rolls on 4/3/26. The egg rolls were the very worst egg rolls I have ever seen or eaten in my life. They had no flavor, no crunch, and whatever cabbage was inside was not like any I've ever seen from any other Chinese restaurant. There also was barely anything else inside the egg roll besides cabbage. The lo main was completely inedible. It was cold, rubbery, and flavorless. Just disgusting. The shrimp fried rice was OK, but, compared to fried rice from other restaurants, it was boring and less flavorful, too. I don't think I will ever frequent this restaurant again. I'd much rather go out of my way to Double Dragon near Sandburg H.S. Their food is much, much better. read more

Been going here since moved out this way to Homer Glen. I would say it is one of the better Chinese take out places in the close area as there is only a few options. The food is always fresh and hot when I pick it up. The portions are generous. In the photos I have attached we already went through ate and still had that left. The sauce for the beef is very good the vegetables are fresh and big cuts. They do not skimp on the meat and also bigger cuts. The chicken dishes are always a go to of mine from here. The fried rice is good a lot of flavor and plenty of it. The service here is great they are very nice family run shop. Sometimes they throw in an extra egg roll or crab Rangoon. Both highly suggest they are very good and so are the pot stickers and dumplings steam or fried options. There is no place to sit in so be advised it is take out. Highly suggest this little hidden gem in the area if you're looking for Chinese. read more

Worst customer service. Woman behind the counter told me she was the owner and was rude to the man in front of me and was then rude to me. I ordered 4 different dishes and realized that one of them was wrong when I arrived home and unpacked the bag. I called the restaurant and she told me that I would have to reorder the correct dish and pay for it; they don't make exchanges. When I told her that I received the wrong container, she yelled at me and told me that I received what I ordered. I arrived at 843pm on this Sunday night to find the locked and a young female sitting in the kitchen. I then checked the store hours and confirmed that they are open until 900pm. I tried calling to place an order and the female never even flinched more or less actually get up to answer the phone. Definitely not a good experience considering I am a first time customer and I watched through the front window the employee sitting on a chair in the kitchen and never move to help me at the front door, or to answer the phone if you are open till nine, you should be open till nine not until when you get tired and then lock the door and quit answering the phone. We got a menu in our mailbox stating that they were under new management, and thought we would give it a try since we were craving Chinese food...we ordered a variety of items: tofu pad thai, chicken and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, veggie egg rolls, and chicken noodle soup. The pad thai was just ok. I wouldn't order it again. The seasoning was just a little off tasting. The chicken and broccoli was in a white sauce (I'm more use to brown) but the flavor was good and the broccoli was fresh. The chicken noodle soup was delicious. Lots of chicken and a great flavor to the broth. Sweet and sour chicken was typical. The egg rolls were too doughy and the veggies lacked flavor. Eh, it was alright. My brother recommended this place to us so we decided to try it out. We ordered a Mongolian beef, beef & broccoli, orange chicken, Kung pao chicken, teriyaki sticks, egg rolls, and a large chicken fried rice, and 5 smoothies (had friends over). All that and only paid around $75, so the prices were great! Also came with 2 big white rice. Orange chicken was decent. Fried rice, and egg rolls were not bad. Mongolian beef was sweeter than it should be and filled with onions and barely any beef. Same with the beef and broccoli, hardly any beef & mostly broccoli. Teriyaki Sticks were tough. My daughter was struggling trying to bite it off the stick. Smoothies were alright. Overall, it wasn't horrible. Everything was hot and ready quick, but I'd test out other places before I come back and try something else. read more

Lost a customer today. On their website they advertise coupons. They also have a link on their website "order online". Perfect. I reference the coupon in the notes to my order. Husband shows up and asks about the free item and they say we used an outside ordering service so it doesn't apply - even though they provided the link on their site themselves. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE NEW OWNERS AS OF MARCH 2010: Unfortunately this place has changed owners and despite the insistence from the original owners that the recipes will remain the same, they have not. I have been there 3 times and the food isn't bad here, but the 2-rating is also a factor of the poor customer service. Whereas before every order would take an accurate "10 minutes" with the original owners, the new owners always estimate "20+" minutes and the food is more than often still not ready on arrival. After calling a couple times politely asking to forward my contact information to the original owners to write them a thank-you letter, I was rudely hung up on twice. The recipes have indeed changed (while not bad) but do not have the freshness or flavor of the original owner recipes. This has now become a more run-of-the-mill Chinese takeout instead of the place I originally reviewed a couple months ago and frequented for the past 10+ years. I hope to get in contact with the original owners to see if they re-open a place in the city (where they are originally from). read more

Very poor service! Ordered here through Grubhub. Delivery time was projected for 720pm- an hour after order placed which was acceptable for a Saturday evening. Called the restaurant at 745 when food still not delivered- told that driver had left and was on the way (I live 5 minutes away) Called again at 810pm and was again told driver just left with our order. Food arrived at 815pm-only to have the driver demand payment even though I paided and tipped online. Not upset with delivery time but the poor customer service --first the misrepresentation of our order being on its way and then asking for payment. This place benefits from the inexplicable fact that there somehow aren't that many chinese takeout spots in the Orland area. I don't necessarily have anything bad to say about the quality, price, or timeliness of the food, but I feel like the "old" China House went the extra mile, whereas with this place, something's missing. No soy, mustard, or sweet 'n sour sauces in the to-go bag felt like an April Fool's joke, and the Pork w/ garlic sauce entree I got was 70% vegetables and not mixed well together with the sauce... seriously, is it possible that they didn't cook the food and sauce together? Weird... The container of pink sauce that came with the sweet 'n sour chicken had like 3 pieces of pineapple and that's it; no green or red peppers, as is common at most other places. and the fact that their fried rice seems to just be wild rice with vegetables and bottom-of-the pot bits of meat was disappointing, even if it didn't actually taste bad. The egg foo young was dry and hollow compared to what the old China House gave you. Like I said, nothing was bad, but the place doesn't seem as genuine as it did before, and lacks authenticity. I love China House! Was a huge fan under the original owners. After they changed hands in early 2010 I went once or twice and forgot about it. Then last November I gave it a try (I think the current owners are different then the ones that took over in March)... and have been hooked again since. Food is tasty and fresh, I don't think they use msg. It has a very "homestyle" flavor to it (not the synthetic taste/texture you get in some Chinese takeout). I've never waited more then 15 minutes on an order (except when they were obviously slammed with business) and the staff is very friendly and kind. You can tell most of the food is home made instead of pre-packaged stuff (I went in the other day and saw them rolling the won-tons and curing the bbq pork). Like most places, they have an extensive menu, here are some notables that I have found that I recommend to try: Kung Po beef or chicken Szechuan chicken Mei fun chicken General Tso's chicken Chicken with mixed vegetables They also have REALLY good egg rolls (might be home made... saw them all on a big baking sheet one time) and chicken teriyaki sticks. read more
