It's been a few years since I've eaten here. No reason for it but I have been in for the delicious milk tea and smoothies. Go treat yourself if you havent tried them! I phoned my order in at 430 and it was ready pretty quick (less than 20 mins). As I walked in, they had the cutest little helper taking payments, grabbing orders and he was so polite saying "thank you and have a nice day". Everyone here is always so pleasant and helpful but this little boy made picking up my order even better! I ordered a lot for 2 people because I was hungry and my eyes were bigger than my stomach ;) I didn't realize how much bbq pork was in the appetizer and I'm Not complaining because I'm a huge bbq pork fan and also ordered a house chow fun (pork) the noodles were perfect and the pork was so good with so much sauce (the way i like it). I went to China House for dinner and had the Shrimp egg foo young along with a bowl of win tonight soup everything was so delicious and I even had enough for a lunch the next day, if you try China House you will be very surprised how good the food is and the server is wonderful, like I said before she will even help you with your attempt at Mandarin. read more

Now I recommend China House. I didn't for two years. I ordered shrimp and lobster sauce and when I got home and opened up the container it was basically just gravy and a couple shrimp in there there was no egg there was no Little Onion no meat which they're always is it just if I didn't know so much about the dish I would have probably ate it and that would have been it but it was missing so many things that are crucial to that dish. I have not ordered it since then. But I ordered something else pork fried rice and it was phenomenal I know it's just rice but it's the best tasting pork fried rice that I've had before. So I think they're worth trying again and I think I'm I don't want to go in there and say you're making your shrimp and lobster sauce dish wrong. I guess I'm still one of those people who thinks if you tell someone you're doing it wrong they're going to do something to your food. That's why I never told them about my bad experience with their shrimp and lobster sauce. I don't go there and order that anymore so I don't even know how I could find out if they've changed the way they make it. The only way I could do it would be to go in and ask. But they made a lot of good changes and they're worth trying. read more

The service and ambiance were good. My order was disappointing. I ordered a vegetable dish, expecting it to be loaded with Chinese vegetables, and it wasn't. It was loaded with green peppers and not a bunch more. The other Chinese restaurants I go to don't include green peppers in their vegetable dish, just Chinese vegetables. It's been a while since I was there, but every time I see reviews for them, I'm sorry I never wrote one when it happened. Maybe they've changed what they serve, but if you're ordering a vegetable dish, it wouldn't hurt to ask if Chinese vegetables are included. read more

I went to try this place on my lunch at work. I ordered Hunan chicken lunch special. The egg drop soup was piping hot and delicious. There was an employee sitting at one of the tables in the dining room snapping/ cleaning peapods which was strange. When the meal came it looked fine. However, most of it was cold. Have lived in Romeoville for 3 years and finally found a great Chinese spot! Struggled to find one before this even near Homer Glen and Crest Hill where I lived previously. We got Orange Chicken, Sweet and Fire Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Beef Chop Suey, and Beef Lo Mein with Crab Ragoons and it was 10/10! So good, flavorful, and hit the spot! We have been ordering from China House since they first opened...so often that I have their phone number memorized. We have since moved and they won't deliver to the downtown Plainfield area so I have to order carryouts for pickup. Their potstickers are my favorite, I find myself comparing all the other local chinese restaurants to theirs! If you dine in, order off the "special menu"-- fantastic dishes!! The food is consistent and tasty, but the service stinks. The waitresses and the manager seem to have permanent scowls on their face. It's as if you're an inconvenience for them to serve. I am disappointed with the lack of flavor the food had tonight. The shrimp egg foo young was literally a flavorless sponge. Took two bites just to make sure I was giving it a fair chance. Not only did It taste bad, the look of it was off putting. I also ordered the beef noodle Cantonese. Needed more seasoning. I don't know if they've altered their recipes to appease the population of the area or what but I fully regret spending 20 something dollars on this food when I could have spent less elsewhere. read more

When the boy told me we were going to China House I was not happy. Mainly because we live near the China House in Crest Hill, and that place is a dump with bad food. Walking into the location in Romeoville I was quite shocked. There was nice bright color on the wall, and a huge mural of a dragon. It is also very clean. The one in Crest Hill is an absolute shit hole in the wall. The Crest Hill Location is Dark & Musty. There are water marks on the ceiling tiles. The employees sit at a table, watch tv, and smoke cigarettes all day. I could not believe the difference in between the two locations. Seriously the man who runs the Crest Hill location needs his ass beat for running that restaurant like that. This is why I was upset about going to another China House. I thought damn we are gonna drive to the next town to eat at a dump? I was totally shocked when we ordered. We started with the appetizers- egg rolls, and BBQ pork. The pork was so good, and hot! (Temperature) The Crest hill location serves old Luke warm BBQ pork that can be very chewy and hard. The egg rolls were hot and crispy. I was expecting cold and soggy. Yum! Next came the dinners- we decided to order something different than we normally order, and eat some of each. The lemon chicken was very good!! Battered with a very good lemon sauce, lemon pieces and maraschino cherries on top. I loved it! We also had Mushroom beef which was very good! The meat was nice and tender, and the veggies were good! I have tried many other Chinese take-out places and none have matched up to China House. People need to understand that this is NOT 5 star dining. It is Chinese take-out. It is salty, greasy, and covered in goodness. My favorite food here is simple.... House Fried Rice and the Crab Rangoons.
