I ordered a steak pho, and they brought me meatballs. I requested no onion and no chives and my pho had onions. When the soup came out, the woman manager or owner said that I left the good stuff out, except onions give me stomach ache. The entire time I had my dinner she was yelling at the new employees trying to train them almost nagging them. I could not enjoy my dinner. I ordered a fresh tofu roll to go, and when I got to my hotel, I opened the bag and it said fried tofu. Then I looked at the roll and found a hair and threw the roll away. This is the fourth time that I have been to this bistro in three years, and the first time that I've had problems like this. I will not return. read more

Pleasantly surprised coming here for lunch. I ordered a pad Thai with tofu and while it tasted pretty different than any pad Thai I've had before, it was still good. Strange to add carrots was an extra charge (which I didn't realize, so it was a little plain.) Others in my party also enjoyed their food. The people there are super nice. However, the service was really, really slow. After about a half an hour, I checked and they seemed very confused and started sending out food about 15 minutes later. My sister's was way undercooked so she sent it back. Then when we finally got the food, mine was excruciatingly salty (veg stir fry) and my sister had the same experience with hers (chicken coconut curry). We only ate it because we were so hungry, but otherwise would've refused it. I added tofu for $3 and only got four small thin slices not even worth it! And it was crazy loud/noisy. The glass noodle stir fry is by far the best dish on the menu, followed by the spring rolls (both fresh and fried). We got four orders of spring rolls, two fried and two fresh, with chicken, shrimp, and then vegetarian. All versions were legit and suuuuper delicious, and whatever sauce they serve them with is so good I could drink it like soup. Which brings me to the soup... We got a lemongrass coconut curry soup, and also a pho. Neither had much flavor and they were very, VERY watery. There was absolutely no richness or depth of flavor to either one. Service is good, though! A+ on that! It is a small restaurant, so it feels very cramped even when there are empty tables. When the crowd gets going, it was enough to make me feel a little claustrophobic. read more

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Every time I choose to go to Asian Pho Bistro for a meal, I have to wait an hour to get my food. Today I chose to go to APB on my lunch hour, even though the last two times I went to APB on my lunch hour I had to take my Pho to-go and go back to work and eat it at my desk. I had to take my Pho to-go and go back to work and eat it at my desk. Do not come here for a quick bite at lunch or if you are hungry at all. It is not a good place to bring a hungry child. It is a good place to go if you are not hungry and want to sit and chat with your companion for an hour before you get anything to eat. I like to eat at Asian Pho Bistro because of the quality of the food. It is consistently tasty. It is also consistently slow. I have been told time and time again by the staff that it takes a long time to get your food at APB because the cook makes each dish fresh to order. For soups, this does not make any sense. The whole point of the base of the soups they serve at APB is that the broth that cooks for many, many hours. I know that they are not making the broth fresh to order (at least I hope not, because then it is not real broth). Noodles can be cooked in advance and kept in cold water and then drained and will be re-heated when the hot broth is poured on the ingredients. So, I really cannot figure out what they are doing back there for an hour. I feel bad for the wait staff because they do a pretty good job relative to other restaurants in Fairfield, Iowa. But they get the brunt of the deal when the cooks are taking forever to get the food out. read more

We were staying in town for the night and found this restaurant close by. We were pleased to find a Pho restaurant and we stopped in. We were seated right away. The outdoor temperature was close to 100 heat index. The temperature indoors was not much better. I was dripping sweat by the time we left. They had a good selection of beer and wine. I got a green tea boba which was refreshing and tasty. For appetizers we ordered crab Rangoon. The portion was quite large and relatively nice tasting. My entree was the coconut curry. I was incredibly disappointed by this. The curry was white in color, watery, and had virtually no flavor. It was completely unlike any coconut curry I've previously had. My husband had the phorritos. He said it was flavorful and as spicy as he had requested. The service was attentive and we never waited long for anything. Due to the uncomfortable temperature, I would recommend take out and avoid the coconut curry at all costs. read more

There is no spice so if you like your curry Spivey maybe you can ask them to add or there is some at the table. I'm very impressed with this new restaurant in town. The decor is simple but very bright, uplifting and clean, with tasteful wall colors and decorations. The wait staff were a bit pedestrian but also polite and efficient. Food prices are very affordable and the food was very, very fresh, tasty and delivered in a timely manner. The presentation of the food was also very nice. My only minor criticisms are that my dish was a bit too salty for my palate but then again I'm not a salt and pepper guy like most people are. Lastly, the open seating arrangement is a bit cafeteria like but I guess you can't have everything..... In summary, if you are looking for affordable, fresh, tasty food this is a great place to go. I first reviewed Asian Pho Bistro in 2017 after they opened. I found a pretty good restaurant and gave it four stars. I have been there several times since reopening after the pandemic restrictions were lifted and have been pretty disappointed each time. Service has been slow. Food is slow coming out of the kitchen. I have not seen the original owner cooking in the kitchen which makes me wonder if ownership has changed hands. Last time I ordered the chicken wings along with fried spring rolls and fresh spring rolls. The chicken wings were not fresh. They tasted and had the texture of a precooked chicken wing that were quickly refried and sauced. The sauce was heavy. The fried spring rolls were not nearly as crisp and tasty as they were in the past. The fresh spring rolls were okay, nothing special. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls was watery and not very good. I hate to say this, but I walked away wishing that I had gone to Pizza Ranch instead. read more

This was probably the worst restaurant experience of my life. Food was awful. Sent two dishes back, then the owner attempted to charge me for the dishes I sent back because they were so disgusting. At this point I was resigned to the fact that they have no talent and could only survive in a small town with no competition.
