I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked into the restaurant, it was quite small with little seating available. However, I've heard that they plan on moving to a bigger location, so seating shouldn't be a problem later on. The restaurant itself, while small, was very clean and had a nice design. We were waited on in a fair amount of time after being seated. Compared to the many sushi places I've been before, this place ranks up there with the higher scale restaurants I've visited in Chicago and NYC. The rolls were well made, and the sashimi was fresh tasting. However, there was a slightly longer wait on our food, about 20 minutes, and the number of sushi pieces they give you per roll was less than what I was expecting for the price. Nonetheless, the rolls were worth the wait as they tasted great. I only wish that they would give you a couple more pieces for what you pay. This is a sushi place I wouldn't mind visiting again, hopefully in their new location!

I came here on a Saturday night with some friends, when we arrived we were told the wait was only going to be 45 minutes. We waited over two hours to be seated. Our food took over 30 minutes to come out, and was not delivered together. Some of our orders were incorrect and our server failed to check on us once the food was delivered. From what I've heard, this is the best sushi place in Southeast Iowa, however I think it is the only sushi place in Southeast Iowa. If you are not from the area it is not worth stopping at this restaurant.

I had to travel for work on a Sunday, which I typically try to avoid. I searched local restaurants…read moreand saw this one, and decided to give it a try. Small town asian restaurants tend to be either really good or really bad, with very little in between. When I go to an Asian buffet type restaurant, I am not expecting the greatest quality, just comfort foods like general Tso's chicken, crab Rangoons, and some white rice at a reasonable price. This place exceeded my expectations. Each of the items in the buffet that I tried tasted fresh, not like it had been sitting under a warming lamp for two hours. The chicken meat (both white and dark) was high quality, no bits of gristle or other unchewable stuff that I often find at lower quality restaurants. The crab Rangoons were really good. Even the rice was very good, not having that dried out texture that it can sometimes get when it sits in a steamer pot for too long. The sushi was also surprisingly good. I never set my expectations high for buffet sushi, but I keep the bar even lower at small town restaurants that serve sushi. I mean, who expects decent sushi at a small town Iowa buffet? It was surprisingly tasty, even if the selection was limited to only one roll type item. My only gripe is that it was kind of dark inside, in spite of the windows being unobstructed and the sun being out. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine, but buffets really should portray a clean and bright environment to emphasize that they are high caliber restaurants. Buffets tend to be viewed as dark, dirty places, and I always encourage proprietors to upgrade their lighting to make their restaurants appear cleaner and more inviting. Aside from the lighting, this place solidly impressed me. For a small town Iowa buffet, it was very good.

I placed a to-go order and arrived to find the parking lot about half full, which gave me hope that…read morethe food would be good. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Upon entering, I approached the cashier, who neither greeted me nor offered a closing statement such as "Thank you" or "Have a good day." I ordered the General Tso's combination plate and a side of beef lo mein. The General Tso's chicken lacked any spiciness, and the yellow fried rice was disappointing--almost inedible, despite my usual love for rice. The beef lo mein was mediocre at best, reminiscent of cafeteria or hospital food. Sadly, I will not be returning.

Let me start by saying we made a mistake not reading a sign near the front door. It would've saved…read moreus a world of confusion. We're visiting from Florida & based on opinions of others we decided Go Fish Sushi sounded delicious. And what a cute name! Love it. So darling. And I will say that for gambling on mid-west sushi, it paid off. Everything was delicious. 5/5 stars for the quality of the food. Back to my review.. Remember, we didn't see the sign (small sign about knee height.) completely missed it walking in. We were not greeted. I asked if we could sit anywhere we liked & the hostess replied "you can sit while you figure out what you want & then come to the counter to order." Okay cool. We sat to figure out the menu. Every table had a bottle of soy sauce. I ordered crab Rangoon roll, California roll, spicy tuna roll, and the Philadelphia roll. For beverages I ordered three waters & a draft Sapporo. The hostess stated she'd bring our beverages to the table. She then delivered three bottles of water (not glasses of water) & my beer in a glass. We then realized we'd paid for water. We enjoyed the simple atmosphere while we waited for the food. One customer came in to pick up a take out order. Another came in & sat down at a table nearby. (Whom proceeded to eat at his table.) Our hostess delivered our meal bundled up in take-out fashion. This was confusing (because we hadn't seen the little sign.) I then stated to the hostess that we intended to dine in & were in need of service wear. Plates, silverware, etc. She replied "we don't do that." Puzzled I said "we can't have a few plates?" while pointing at their obvious stack of small plates. This would have been a very good moment for her to kindly apologize & let us know that they were take out only for lunch. Nothing. Just a reluctant smirk while handing me three little plates & soy sauce dishes. My spouse now noticing the backside of the little sign said "why does your sign say take out & dine in?" One of the two gentlemen replied "cuz you're only looking at the back of the sign." By then we were already opened up & divvying up the sushi. So they reluctantly let us continue. We were still confused until we looked at the front if the little sign which clearly stated "take out only." There were two opportunities for kindly reminding us they were only offering takeout - at the beginning when asking about a table & then again once we asked for plates. Our hostess failed in that regard & acted very indignant & snobby. We feel bad because of our mistake, but the customer service was sub-par by the hostess.

You're NOT important to them unless you order carry out hours ahead…read more We tried to order twice- hours before they were closing and we were told - sorry they had enough orders for the day. Also the dine in versus carry out hours are very confusing. Their food is good, but they are a mismanaged business that creates a frustrating dining experience.
