Unfortunately, this was quite disappointing. We ordered butter chicken and tikka masala, and ran into several issues. First, they mixed up the spice levels on our dishes - not a huge deal, but confusing when you're expecting a certain heat level. The bigger problem was the butter chicken. Grateful to the Asiana staff for being so welcoming/accommodating for a family with kiddos and friends from out of town (who had no idea what to order!). Staff recommended some good dishes for those didn't want spice, and some better dishes for those of us who know that spice is life. Would definitely get the extra garlic naan options or pakora- these were both great to share. Most of the mains are ~$15, so very reasonable for comparable restaurants nearby. Would like to come back again to try a few more things on the menu! Plenty of parking and great music to accompany lunch or dinner. read more

I ate lunch with a friend today and we were wowed! The extensive menu has something for any taste. I like nondairy mildly spiced food, my friend likes spicy and doesn't mind dairy. We split an order of samosas--just spicy enough to be pleasant for me. The sweet sauce was the perfect compliment. I ordered the shrimp tandoori-- a delicious light dish of pan fried shrimp with delicate spices on a bed of shredded greens. My friend ordered lamb Tikka Masada. Not too spicy for me ( she ordered it mild), and so tender it cut with the side of a fork. What a feast! The service was attentive and polite, and we easily finished out lunch in an hour. A truly divine experience! We will return soon. read more

Asiana is a respectable option if one is seeking fresh Indian food in South Austin. Every time we've gone it seems like the dining room was mostly empty, but several people came in and out to pick up their to-go orders. To be fair, every time we visited, it was after lunch time and before dinner time, usually mid-afternoon, so that could explain why there were so few diners. The food though is good and prices are fair. I remember particularly liking their lunch time thali plate which features many of their specialties. It's a great way to sample a new place and their offerings without breaking the bank. Their curries are good and the service was quick and polite. The place has been clean every time we visited. Portions are generous and we ended up with leftovers. Nothing negative to report! I recommend it if you're in the area. This is an Indian place that won't disappoint. read more

My wife and I ordered from Asiana and honestly this was terrible. The garlic naan was completely flat, soaked in oil, and had zero flavor. My chicken tikka masala came with maybe five tiny pieces of chicken for almost eighteen dollars. The sauce was watery, had no taste at all, and the rice just drowned in it. I've had Indian food all over and never had sauce this bad. They even messed up the spice levels, made the butter chicken medium and the tikka masala mild when I ordered the opposite. I was so disappointed. The only decent thing was that the food arrived warm, but that doesn't make up for how bad everything else was. I don't recommend this place. read more

By far the worst Indian food I've ever tasted. I ordered the Sambar and there was no lentils in it only vegetables. It lacked flavor so I ordered some traditional Dal and although it had yellow lentils it wasn't any better than the Sambar. It lacked a lot of flavor, it was extremely liquefied. It wasn't thick and none of the food had spices. The basmati rice was bland and dry. The wait service pretty okay, there was this chubby guy that asked us 10 thousand times how we were to the point it made the experience bad because he was bothering us. I asked him for water. He came back to the table with the water in his hands then asked if I needed water. I was thinking, okay this guy must be tired because I just asked for some. I think the food lacks flavor because the main clientele. The food is terrible and if you don't enjoy spice or flavor just blandness definitely come here. Even the gobi Manchurian was awful. Came here to treat some friends for helping me look for a house. We haven't found a house but we know we can always find a good meal here. I usually do takeaway and have only eaten inside the restaurant a few times so I was excited. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and seated. The restaurant wasn't crowded which made for a nice calm and quiet environment on a saturday afternoon lunch. I was given a glass of water while I waited for my friends. When they arrived we were serviced immediately. I got my usual (lamb rogan josh). What I didn't know that apparently the dine in menu is different from the takeaway menu. Maybe I just ordered wrong. But ordering my meal, I didn't know it didn't come as a complete meal with saag paneer, veggies, naan and rice. It was the lamb and rice with naan ordered separately. Sometimes when you walk into a restaurant that serves a cuisine you're not used to, the waiter makes you feel dumb. This was NOT the case here. When I admitted I wasn't well versed on the food, the waiter asked me a few questions about what kind of meat I liked, what heat level I would enjoy and took the time to explain the sides. It was as educational as it was delicious. I ended up choosing chicken as my protein and asked the waiter to bring me what he would order... and at a spice level that wasn't trying to kill me. Consistently outstanding vegetarian Indian food in Austin This was my second visit to Asiana Indian Cuisine, and it absolutely confirmed why I came back. I ordered the vegetarian special, which is a phenomenal value for the money--but more importantly, it's consistently delicious. Fresh, well-balanced flavors, generous portions, and clearly prepared with care rather than shortcuts. What really elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Everyone is warm and welcoming, and Brittany and Roja (apologies if I'm misspelling!) were especially wonderful--attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. I believe this to be the best a Indian food in Austin. The restaurant itself is simple and functional - part of a strip mall, but very clean and attractive. But the food is transcendent and the menu has a lot of dishes you find nowhere else in this City. I wish more people knew of this restaurant. I can't imagine someone coming here for a meal and leaving disappointed. Oh, yes ... the chef here makes the best naan I have ever tasted, including what I had in a wonderful Indian restaurant in Giza, Egypt. I ordered about $100 worth of food from here last night. I got the tandoori chicken, lamb chops, goat vindaloo, Palak Daal, rice and naan. It was the most disappointing meal I've ever had. It was unfortunate to spend so much for such poor quality food. The lamb chops were so dry and over cooked that it was not enjoyable. I could not even bite through the lamb chops. I couldn't rip a piece off of them. I am a lamb lover, tried lamb all over the world and this was the worst. The meat was gritty due to being over cooked and no amount of chewing let me get through the meat. I think they put yogurt on the meat but it just bubbled and looked unappetizing. The goat vindaloo was mostly bones. Like with the tiniest amount of meat on them. It may not have even been 1 oz of meat. It was a bowl of bones. I don't know why a restaurant would serve people this food. I do not recommend wasting your money here. I am not sure how they have the reviews that they do. Whoever was the cook last night should consider another career. This was the worst cooked food. I am not even sure how it was so bad. I've had well done lamb and this was not that. It was my first time visiting Asiana with my partner who was craving some quality Indian food and after reading online reviews we decided to check out Asiana. We ordered chicken curry and chicken tikka masala. The server helped me switch out the rice that comes with the tikka masala with plain naan without charge. The chicken curry was decent but the bigger blocks of chicken resulted in the interior being a little dry. I chopped up my chicken tikka masala to encourage more sauce absorption. I loved the combination of the chicken tikka masala with the naan! The tangy sauce and the nicely crisped naan were a match made in heaven. As someone who isn't naturally drawn towards Indian food, their tikka masala is definitely something I would want again. Their serving size was enough and good value for the cost. We ended up taking the chicken curry to go since we both worked on finishing the tikka masala (it's a lot of chicken!) We also ordered veggie samosa and while it also was a portion size befitting the price, it was a little more disappointing personally because the exterior wasn't as crisp. The chicken 65 had to be thrown away, horribly dry and foul smelling chicken, tasted like raw breading and dry dry chicken, no flavor. This is perhaps the worst chicken 65 I've ever experienced. I am shocked and astounded they would even sell this product. When I called for a refund they refused and said to call back for a manager, can't get ahold of the manager. The masala dosa was very good, perfectly crisped on the outside and the potato masala filling was also full of flavour. This has to be the driest butter chicken I've ever had in my entire life. How could something be soooo dry when it is in a moist sauce? Saag Paneer was very liquidy and very creamy and not much seasoning. I do not know how this place get such high reviews. Also the cheese naan was like American cheese? Although it was pretty empty when I went late in the evening on a weekday. I can't say anything about a busier time of business. The service is great here. Fast, friendly, and willing to offer suggestions. I dined with a vegan and they told us one of the naan options we were going to order actually had animal products in it, we had no clue. She even suggested another option which was pretty good. The food is solid. The Saag Paneer is not something I'd drive out of the way for, but I definitely would pop in if I'm in the area craving Indian food.
