I came here with my girlfriend for a burger and some tacos. I was disappointed to find out that they used wooden stake through my burger. I ran my finger along this wooden item and there was a sharp part alongside it that might have been from a piece of wood splintering off of it. I ended up eating around the middle of the burger in order to avoid any wood that might have been left inside it. Please do not use these items inside the food as they are not well made. Wanted to get a drink and some food with the dogs and this place hit all the marks. The outdoor heated patio is dog friendly, but they did not have the uncovered patio open when I went (April). The patio is nice because it has lights and heat, but MY GOD the bar stools are not comfortable. I felt like my legs were gonna have bruises and my lower back was gonna be sore. We are both young and active people but were DYING on the barstools. It was also odd to be so high up when we had dogs on the ground, as it made it hard to manage them. We ended up putting them in the car because it was such an awkward height distance (they are small dogs). I was excited about the online menu since they had a lot of gluten free options. The menu in person was different than the menus I saw online and on Yelp. Not too different, just definitely a rotation/seasonal element. I perhaps had some gluten free vegan wings in my heart that have not seen the menu in a while but are posted online a lot. I got a hawaiian style bowl with tofu and my fiance got a sandwich. We each got a cocktail as well, and our total was $100. I thought this was a little steep, but we did like everything we got. Aslan is a never miss for us! I love their outside patio and their service is quick and friendly. I love the food and truly haven't ever had a bad meal here. This time I tried the ban mi bowl and their fried tofu was so crispy and delicious. My husband got the fried katsu sandwich- it honestly tasted more like a Nashville hot chicken sandwich to me but was still really spicy and delicious! My daughter got the grilled cheese which she loved (the rosemary bread is really good) and I couldn't finish my review without shouting out their ranch which is soooo good! We love the fries too. Disco lemonade is my favorite beer (as someone who doesn't normally drink beer) and it's fun having the seasonal shooter with it. We can't wait to return to Aslan!! read more

Stopped in here for a beer and quick lunch. Service was prompt and friendly, and the place was immaculate and sort of had that "brewery-chic" vibe. Modern, big, open, airy. The Dawn Patrol I had was a hazy, and it was very good, but they have a large selection so I'll probably check out something different next time. For a "meal" I had the poutine, with roasted mushroom gravy and cheese curds on waffle fries. This was...but far from the best poutine I've had in my life. The gravy promised more than it delivered, and the choice of fries - waffle cut - were not practical to eat with a fork (too big to easily eat, too crisp to cut), and too messy to eat by hand. I love the idea of waffle fries in poutine, but the execution in this instance just left me a little disappointed. I'd come back for beer, and I'd definitely try something different on the menu, and I'll update if I do! read more

Perfectly our type of place. Casual vibe, friendly staff and amazing food. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon around 5pm for Happy Hour. Funny enough, we were staying nearby, so stopped back in later in the evening for a heartier meal. Both were outstanding!!! Happy Hour: THE.BEST.BRUSSELS.SPROUTS! Great flavor combinations with brussels sprouts, red cabbage, yams and pomegrante molasses. Good sweet savory combination. This was SO good! I would eat it every day. We had the Karage Chicken, lightly breaded chicken thighs with a zesty dipping sauce. We also had a house salad, which was hearty kale with walnuts and blue cheese. Very good! For our evening meal, hubs and I split a Bacon Smash Burger with the Luna fries. The luna fries were a hearty portion, with generous amounts of chicken and the chimichurri was a taste sensation. Pro-tip: If you order a side of poutine fries, it's the same portion as the appetizer. Super friendly staff! Late Friday was pretty busy so we had a bit of a wait. Well worth it though. Aslan has always been one of my favorite places in Bellingham, ever since I went while attending WWU. It was a treat to visit Aslan over the weekend as they opened a location in Fremont but it's not the same as their menu is quite limited compared to the foods this kitchen has to offer. The staff is also incredibly friendly and outgoing! This time around, we ordered the fried mac n cheese appetizer, the Hawaiian bowl with pork belly, the PNW grilled cheese, luna fries, a beer flight, and the strawberry lemonade cocktail. The food was delicious and enough for two people, plus leftovers. I highly recommend Aslan, and will stop by every time I'm in bham. read more

Super glad they were open on july 4th! Our frisbee team of almost 20 were looking for somewhere to eat and they were super accommodating and pretty busy on independence day for dinner. Got a spicy tofu katsu burger which actually had a kick to it. Great crisp to the tofu which maybe could have been thicker but the burger was already pretty tall from the slaw and pickles too which added the moisture/acid/crunch that made it so yummy. Searched for breweries near me as usual and found Asian brewing company, it was intriguing so had to go there. The beer is good, but the food is amazing. The chicken Karagi was fantastic and the bahn-mi bowls were outstanding. If and when we are back in this part of the world, ABC folks, we will be back to partake again. Asian is still undeniably a force in Bellingham's Brew Pub scene, but it's lost a bit of luster. We showed up for an early dinner on a Saturday night, We got a table right away and the initial service was pretty good. We had beers and Mac and Cheese Bites. Seems the fryer oil (or the person frying) were not ideal, These Bites were super dark and, they seemed to be over done. Not ideal. We each ordered a Smash Burger, 1, the regular and 2 the Bacon smash burger. Silly me, I thought the Smash burgers would be similar, but that was my mistake, The Regular Smash burgers is what I would expect, an regular single patty with a slice of cheddar, lettuce, tomato, on a bun. The Bacon smash was completely different. Single patty, field greens, blue cheese, and a bacon spread. Yeah, different! I probably should have gotten the regular Smash Burger. We both ordered Waffle fries and like the Mac and Cheese Bites, seemed over cooked and dark, to us. Unfortunately during our meal, our server started serving another section and we didn't see a server for a while. Then someone else checked in on us. It was a little surprising and disappointing. This is a very popular local brewery. They do not have a parking lot so finding street parking is the only way to go, which can be very challenging. We tried their Hawaiian and Bahn Mi bowls for around $23 each. They tasted good, but for the price one can find similar quality bowls elsewhere. Service was prompt and attentive. The inside is comfortable and lively, with floor to ceiling windows throughout to allow ample natural sunlight in. We ordered: Smash burger with poutin: 5/5 super tasty! Poutin was even better than the ones we had in Vancouver! The sauce wasn't overly salty. Smash burger bacon with poutin: our friend really liked his burger too. Flights: they liked their beers Southwest salad bowl with grilled chicken: 4/5 good refreshing salad, chicken was a bit on the dry side. Kids grilled cheese with sweet potato fries: my kid liked it. Chicken rice bowl with fries: my other kid said the rice tasted weird but ate the chicken and fries. Ps they don't serve waffle fries anymore. Instead they will sub with curly fries. It very spacious inside with high ceilings. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the nice Seattle weather. read more

I don't normally leave these kinds of reviews but here it is. Possibly the worst, over-priced eating experience of the last couple of years. We were there with our family and grandchildren for a late lunch and the place was a bit busy. It is a typical brew pub experience and it took a while to get seated, ok fine. But $17 and $18 for a really crappy 4oz "smash burger" was suspect from the outset but I figured maybe it would be decent. They charge $13 and $14 for kids versions and then charge an additional $4 for kids (absolutely generic, not homemade) lemonades - now that is highway robbery. So then after a specific request to leave an ingredient off of my burger (and waiting for a full table's worth of food with hungry kids) they get that completely wrong (and blamed on the kitchen). They offered to remake it I which took. When it finally came it was just the worst thing I could imagine. I ate it but had pretty much lost my appetite completely by the end and that wasn't because I was satisfied. Then to top it off the bill came (sort of). They brought one of those new Toast devices to the table (which I am growing to hate because the suggested tips are outrageous and calculated on the total bill including tax). They have the machine configured so you are just presented with the payment screen and not the bill. In our case, we were splitting the bill so I never was able to actually see the bill. Our server went out of his way to tell us they were comping our 1 ($7) beer for the mixup (I kind of thought he was comping all the drinks but no). The only good thing about those machines is that it is easy to get an email receipt. When i got home and peeked at it, I was horrified to learn that I was actually charged $23 for a burger that was overpriced (and terrible) at $18. We just spent 4 weeks traveling around Spain. The food was a fraction of the price we see here in places like this and many times better. These kinds of table-side POS machines are everywhere and are not programmed to recommend 20% tips as defaults (in fact, most don't default to any tip at all). I don't know how bad brew pubs like this can get away with these kinds of prices for barely edible food but apparently their current clientele can't tell the difference or else just doesn't care. I don't know or understand but I won't be back to this place until something significant changes. read more

Stopped in after a very rainy hike in Mount Baker. We always bypass Bellingham to get home faster but will not be doing that in the future! It was fairly busy when we arrived, but we had no trouble grabbing two seats at the bar. They have a wide selection of beer options, but we are both big Hefeweizen fans and theirs was excellent! The burger was great and I recommend making it a double if you're hungry. It's a smash burger, so the patties are thinner. Highly recommend the waffle fries, they were perfect! We ended up splitting the ice cream sandwich after dinner. They make and then freeze the sandwich, probably so it isn't melting when it gets served. That made it a bit tough the get through initially, so it's probably best to give it 10 or so minutes to thaw out. Flavor was good though. Service at the bar was pretty good. Attentiveness was okay, but the staff was very friendly and were happy to provide drink and food recommendations. The interior is nice, modern, comfortable brewery. Definitely look forward to returning! We even grabbed a six pack to take home with us! read more

My husband and I were vacationing in the area and came in for a few drinks and snacks. This place is amazing! The brewery itself has a modern and industrial vibe. Price in my opinion was slightly higher, like my bowl was like $21 which is a little expensive since it's not a huge bowl. It's filling though. Appys average around $10 per.
