I'd rate this place 3.5 stars, all things considered. (Rounding to 4 because I can't imagine giving this view a 3 star!) To me the biggest pro is the location and views! The outdoor patio is sprawling with space! Tons of outdoor seating and quite a bit inside as well (for the rainy days I suppose!) Although every time I have visited (sunny days!) there were people sitting inside and I am not sure why anyone would choose to sit inside on a beautiful day!! I digress. The annoying thing about the patio, the music was on what felt like, volume level 7 out of 10. It was blaring. I could not hear my friend speaking to me across the table. While I totally dug the music selection, it was way too loud to have a conversation. The speakers are on like every other post so there was no getting away from it. At one point I did ask them if they could turn it down a few notches. (I apologized and said "with risk of sounding like a Karen or an old lady, but it is so loud and I cannot hear across the table). She laughed said no problem and she could turn it down a little. (Funny inside it was like on volume level 4, but outside it was blasting!) The beer is decent, also about 3.5/5. For me the star of the show is the location and the view. The food truck out front the last time we went (January 2026) was Indian fare. It was honestly terrible. Looked like cat food (how fitting). Probably had a total of 3 pieces of chicken in my tikka masala. I would recommend avoiding that truck entirely. It was a thumbs down for all 4 people in our group. read more

It's been a good time for beer in the Ham lately, starting last summer with the arrival of Birch Bay's Beach Cat Brewing to their second, downtown Bham location. Now, we can enjoy those crispy, kitty-themed BC beers without the long drive north. The setting is lovely, too. They have a HUGE outdoor deck, right on the waterway, which is just about the perfect spot to spend a warm summer afternoon. I also got to visit recently, on a cold, bitter, grey January day, and the beer was just as good enjoyed indoors in their colorful tap room. Can't wait for more great days at Beach Cat as the weather starts to warm up and the sun (rumor has it) decides to come out even more. read more

There were so many breweries to pick from in Bellingham. I was there for a conference so just a few days. It is such a cute town and I want to return so I was trying to get a good feel for the city's dining and beer experiences. We ended up at Beach Cat for several reasons, but particularly because my friend and fellow archaeologist who was also attending the conference had just found out that her cat did not have cancer! So we celebrated the wonderful news at Beach Cat. There were many different craft and typical beer and cider options, so I was glad that the staff was very eager to help us find the one that we enjoyed. The beer was crisp, cool and delicious and we ended up buying two growlers to take home with us. I was shocked at how well priced the growlers were. The decor and ambience is cute, eclectic and fun. We'll definitely be going back next time I'm in or around Bellingham. read more

Dog-friendly and kid-friendly brewery on the water! I liked this place a lot. We went in December and they have ample indoor seating, but the outdoor patio looked awesome for summer. They don't sell food but had the Lumpia Luv food truck outside while we were there, which I would recommend. They have a kids room with low tables and shelves of games that you can borrow to play. They had a sour on tap and two hard seltzers, and they sell cans to go from their own brewery and other local breweries. People working there were super nice, as were some other strangers we chatted with. Would definitely go back there! Great place to stay and play cards too. read more

Oh man! This place is awesome. Every last detail was wonderful. Great indoor and outdoor seating, beer, wine,cider, hard seltzer are available as well as a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. It's PACKED. But guess what, there's a good reason for that. It's a really cool location and great space right on the water. Minus one star for car parking and for some of the riff raff that was there, but overall it's really solid. They have some non-beer options, and their signature brews from the Blaine location. They also have slushies! Service was friendly and prompt, despite the insane queues. I think things will calm down at some point though, and I hope they do because I want to make it part of my normal rotation. I do hope they get some variety in food trucks, but the fact that they have some is half the battle. Looking forward to getting there and getting a seat with the pups, to enjoy the salty air and the sun. read more

Oh Beach Cat, as soon as my girlfriend saw that cider slushie and everyone's puppies it was done. Waterfront seating? The vibes are high. Got a flight of Beach Cats best sellers and everything was great. Got my socks rocked by IPAs. If I had one more flight I probably would have acquired knowledge of boat navigation and sailed the high seas. Bartenders were happy to have us, and waterfront seating with food trucks for when the beer munchies hit. Great for all ages, drop a +4 uno card on your kid over a tortoise shell IPA. So excited for Beach Cat's new Bellingham location: South Paw! Right on the Whatcom Waterway, they've worked hard to create a beautiful indoor/outdoor space. There is a surprising amount of indoor seating. Then there is the huge deck with picnic tables galore. Plenty of beers are on tap, you should find something to your taste. Or how about a slushy? There are two food trucks here today, pizza and Filipino food. Great to have choices!! Parking was a bit scarce for a Friday afternoon. read more
