Worst looking shwarma I've ever had. It looked more like a taquito than it did a shwarma. Service was worse than the food. Took forever to just get a cup of hot tea. The place wasn't even that busy, only 4 other tables with customers, and the one waiter couldn't even handle it. I know this is a new eatery but it's never gonna work like this. We had the best, most authentic, middle eastern meal yesterday at Aspasia. The staff was very cordial and helpful in explaining the menu for us. It was delicious. I enjoyed the platter they prepared with a variety of dishes and one of my favorites was the Babaganoush with wonderful smoky flavor. We also had a delicious Shawarma with a pomegranate sauce. Food is always great. My family shares the meat pie and mixed grill. We also get the lamb shank, but you have to be vigilant because they sell out fast, I like to call ahead to check and reserve a couple right before we head to the restaurant lol. Our daughter is not happy with the fries change which was her favorite, bring it back please. The restaurant's usually empty because we're early diners, but it's always clean. I still don't understand the Kleenex concept. Rule of thumb, be respectful of the staff's prayer time when you go please. They might need to stop service for a few minutes but the food and service are worth it. read more

Amazing food! This is me and my family's favorite restaurant. Food is always so delicious and consistently excellent. I had heard really good things about this restaurant, so I placed an order to go expecting the best. It was terrible. When I got home I discovered that the baklava I'd ordered wasn't included and the spinach pie had been replaced with a meat based bread dish that, as vegetarians, we couldn't eat. I honestly think they simply replaced what we ordered with whatever they had on hand and ignored the parts that they couldn't provide. I won't be back, and neither should you. Nothing about the rest of what we ordered stood out compared with the other Mediterranean fare to be had in Tucson. Not bad, but not necessarily better. So we did not eat there to be clear....I saw all the great reviews and was looking forward to eating here. Lunch time it was not full but as we walked in, I noticed how dirty the glass doors were and carefully opened them up. Upon entering, there were a few people there but no one at the reception desk. We waited about 3-4 minutes...no one came to seat us. It smelled good, but as I was waiting, I noticed how dirty the floors were as well. We tried Aspasia for lunch today and highly recommend it. We had the chicken tawook plates with rice. Not only did it have amazing flavors, but they bring a huge portion. They also serve it with some type of delicious pita with tomato sauce. The iced tea was much better than most restaurants and you must try the pistachio baklava. The young man who served us was very friendly and helpful. Ample parking with a clean dining room and bathrooms. We will absolutely return. This was one of the best lunches I've had in Tucson. We tried this restaurant for the first time and liked it a lot. The food was delicious, service was greatportions were generous. Our only comment was that they need better pitas. We mentioned this to our server and he said they were aware of this and were trying to find a better alternative. The desserts are made in-house and the pistachio baklava was great! Food was amazing! We started with the tabbouleh salad which was fresh and delicious. I had the lamb kebabs and my husband had the gyro platter (I got the rice and got the fries). Everything was delicious. The pita served with the gyro platter is different from what we've had before but good. The Aspasia bread served with the kebabs was very good. Triangles of "pita" with some sauce and onions. Serving sizes were huge and we took at least half home. The owner brought us some dolmas to try and they were very tasty. Went here for dinner--2 people and we sat at a 2 top table. It was busy, but that doesn't explain the experience fully. It was cold!! I wore my jacket the whole time. It's a loud place and doesn't have amazing ambiance inside as it's one large room. Like a cafeteria. We did not get menus or water for quite a while. All the tables next to us also were waiting on their drinks. I did not see anyone getting pita bread to snack on as others have talked about. Ordered 1 app and 1 dinner item per person. Apps looked nice and were the best part of the meal. I ordered an item and got the wrong thing. When I asked about this, the individual stated it was too busy and would take a while to fix, would I just be ok with the swapped meal? What choice did I have? So I just said ok. It was fine--good but nothing out of this world. Didn't make up for the long wait times and the fact that it wasn't what I ordered. I later was told that they actually ran out of the item I ordered and assumed I'd be ok with the swap. That's wildly bad for folks with allergies, which I don't have but some folks do! Ordered desert and were told we needed to leave and could not eat it in the restaurant because they were so popular and busy. I did express disappointment with the whole experience, but it didn't seem to be taken well. Eventually they gave us a free extra desert and a few bucks off the bill for the wrong meal. There was not a long line when we left, so I don't know that opening a 2 top table was so important that we couldn't have stuck around to finish our meal. Mid afternoon on a Saturday. We were one of five tables. Service was great, friendly. We had the vegan platter and the portions were good for the two of us. Excellent baba ghanoush, not bitter at all. Dolmas were fabulous. We took a chicken wrap home. Indulged in knafeh and rice pudding as well as Turkish coffee. The dining room is pretty sparse and bare bones, but it was the same when it was Ajuua. Overall wonderful experience. Will be coming back to sample more of the menu! read more

So disappointing, my food was I hate to say it but awful. My companion said her food was good. Another issue is that they bring hot tea to the table and put it on the table. We did not know that we had to pay for the tea. Not a good practice to bring some thing to the table and not ask if you would like tea and how much it might cost. The staff were nice but the place needs a face lift to make it more welcoming and bright. There are many Mediterranean place s in Tucson I do not think I will be going back. read more

My friend and I met up here for lunch on a Thursday to catch up on each other's lives. (We ended up staying for several hours and they had no problem with it.) The dining room was very neat, clean and a perfectly cool temperature. (Sometimes we get chilly in restaurants that have the a/c too cold!) The menu had lots of choices, especially vegetarian ones, so it took us a few minutes to decide. I chose the cheese rolls as an appetizer and the vegan platter for my main course. I judge Mediterranean restaurants on their dolmas and baba ghanoush because they are my least favorite vegetarian items, especially if not made perfectly. This baba ghanoush was the best I have ever had... perfect texture and flavor! The dolmas are the second best I have ever had. The Aspasia bread was amazing! It's sort of a unique sort of Mediterranean-type quesadilla. Everything else on the platter was very good as well. The cheese rolls were also fabulous! As I was eating, I found myself planning the next time I could come back to try more! My friend got the chicken shawarma and loved it so I got that to go for my husband, since it's his favorite dish. He absolutely loved it, too! I also took home both the pistachio and walnut baklava, which of course, was amazing! Overall, the food was fresh, delicious, and outstanding!
