Dr Lauderdale apparently won't repair a denture tooth without a complete new patient exam including x-rays. No value to the patient only more expense and in this case they could do the emergency tooth repair in a couple minutes but because of the exam needed they wouldn't be able to get a time until Monday leaving several days with a damaged denture. Didn't have this issue with aspen denture in Enterprise Alabama where the service was much better and the care team more compassionate. The receptionist wouldn't even ask the doctor if she would make an exception. Nobody should use this location. Go somewhere they care about you being a person. Update because of aspen dental reply. 1. Tooth popped out due to denture being dropped as was stated to the receptionist. 2. This location is the first location Aspen Dental location that required a new patient exam for a denture repair. I stand by my review and that the "need" for an exam is only to inflate patient cost, and look for more services to charge for rather than performing the service needed. IMAGINE going to a doctor for the flu and being told you need to have your annual check up first come back in three days when we have time for that and then we can see about solving the flu issue. I think this is my first-ever 1 star review. Here's the story: They got me in the door with a "$29 new patient special" -- which was attractive because I don't have insurance. They did the exam and x-rays -- no cavities or any other issues, hooray! But they withheld the cleaning (which I thought was included in the new patient special). To be fair, I was wrong about this; it's not included. They then performed a "gum pocket measurement" test. OK, fine. I've had those tests done before. It's when they call out the numbers (1-6). I had mostly 2s and 3s and a handful of 1s and 4s. About the same as far as I can remember from all the other times in the past I've had the test done. In other words, nothing of note. But here's where it gets interesting. They used that test to claim that what I really required was a deep cleaning (called "scaling and root planing") -- not a normal, routine cleaning. They then refused to perform a routine cleaning, even though I asked for one and offered to pay more. They told me my only option was the expensive treatment plan, which of course, cost over $2,000. It was for my own safety and wellbeing, you see. They couldn't in good conscience perform the routine cleaning. In my book, this whole thing was a classic bait and switch, and crosses the line into unethical and deceptive business practices. I've had plenty of dental offices try to upsell me on the "deep cleaning" over the years. I always just say "no thanks", and that's that. I've never had one literally refuse service unless I agreed to their upsell. Just blows my mind. End. p.s. I'm considering whether or not I should file a complaint with the state dental board -- they regulate unethical conduct. Or I could file a complaint with the AG's consumer protection office -- deceptive advertising is a big deal to them. We'll see. read more

I have previously had a poor experience with Aspen dental on veterans parkway. I attempted to give them a second chance considering they are in network for the services I need. I spoke with a representative informing her of my Endotonsit referral I received from my general dentist. She proceeded to schedule my appointment. When I arrived I was informed the visit was made for a new patient Dental exam and I would not be able to see the Endodontist until June/July. This is the second consecutive time I have been disappointed by this office. Missing work and having to rearrange my schedule for an appointment that never happened due to poor communication. I sat there with nothing happening until 11:00am. I explained that obviously the appointment was going to take much longer than the 2 hours I had allotted for this first visit to this place. Today, I visited Aspen Dental in Columbus, Georgia. I was expecting a bad visit because of the reviews that I had read. But I must admit I it was an awesome visit. I can honestly say that from the time I stepped into those doors, my journey began with a great experience. It started out with Mr. Justin called me back, and he explained everything that was wonderful. Then I met Ms. Tia and she came in and did what she did. OK, my second visit went even smoother, I wasn't waiting long, and when I was called to the back and the issue I was having, it was solved promptly, and the questions were answered to my expectation. I would definitely recommend Aspen Dental with Dr. Lauderdale and her staff are wonderful and put the patients' concerns first . I can honestly say that from my experience and seeing the happy looks on the other patients' faces, they are great. My mom is a patient of Dr. Patterson's and she has had a horrible experience. He was claimed to have done a filling on her teeth, but her mouth hurts more AFTER the filling. She is in excruciating pain!!! This isn't the first terrible experience she's had with him. You are given 10 minutes to fill out new patient paperwork I asked what happens if I take longer. I was told I would be rescheduled or seen as a work in. I'm not sure why they give you 10 minutes to fill out paperwork, when it takes 20 plus minutes to call you back after you turn your papers in. The x ray lady was really nice. The Dr was also nice. The hygienist ... meh. I waited an hour for a dental plan / cost ? So....I need 2 root canals that I have to get in another office, a deep cleaning that includes an antibiotic treatment for aprox $975 ( before they will do any fillings or crowns ) 2crowns , and several cavities. Total cost before insurance $7600. I'm glad I read these reviews. I'm getting a second opinion. The manager .... That discusses payment options for the treatment plan told me my teeth are worth saving. I share the same opinion, but she didn't want to discuss the obvious option of tooth extraction. She also said she could not give me a referral to another dentist that offers root canals / crowns on site. I didn't ask for a referral nor did I ask for a recommendation. ( I'm capable of doing this myself. Apparently she thinks folks aren't smart enough to use google ). I would say this is a bust. The absolute worst dentist ever. Dr Lauderdale is not qualified to have her own practice. She did two crowns in my mouth and both are not correct. I had to go to another dentist to fix my problems. One crown kept coming off and she replaced it three times. Food got caught in it I suffered for years and nothing ever was resolved. The second crown came off three times. It didn't fit right food constantly got caught between the crown and gum. I would floss Waterpik and basically dig the food out. She would never address the problem. I had to get two deep cleaning and antibiotics because of the infection. I had to pay when she knew the crown wasn't right. The crown came off again and I went to a different dentist. I have to get an implant the crown was put on over a tooth with decay. She has overdue no recourse. Stay away save yourself some money and pain. read more

Usually my visits are good but today I was treated awful from the light skin lady from the front desk and my Invisalign nurse. At the front desk the lady was having a hard time answering my questions, she was speaking to me with attitude and I don't even know her. I'm wondering why she sounds and looks angry at me. I went here years ago for some fillings, crowns, & to have my wisdom teeth removed. Everything cost me $2500 which I ended up having finance (still paying it off because the interest rate is so high I've barely been able to make a dent). Let's start with the wisdom teeth removal. My wisdom teeth were not impacted and grew in perfectly. But I needed to have them removed because one was bothering me. Due to them only needing to be pulled, Aspen suggested I stay awake for the procedure. They numbed the area and gave me nitrous oxide. Well I felt every bit of it. I was in hysterics, screaming and crying. The oral surgeon began to berate me. "Stop yelling! Stop cuttin' up! Stop crying! Stop trying to move!" It was awful. After the procedure, he explained how it was my fault it hurt and if I had just stopped "cuttin' up" it wouldn't have hurt so much. The fillings were done poorly. They made the "crown" part (the part where you bite) on my molars completely flat. No bite at all. Now two years later, three of the fillings have just popped out. Shoddy work. Now for the crowns. I had to get two root canals done with an outside endodontist and aspen dental did my crowns. From day one with one of my crowns my gums were extremely irritated. It would bleed and just be overall inflamed. When I called to ask if this was normal, I was told that it was. As of today, I went in for a dental appointment at another dental office and they outlined to me all of the terrible work that Aspen did. First, the fillings. They're not supposed to pop out. Second, the crowns were put in without concern for making them sit flush with my gums, leaving an opening in each. Which has caused bacteria to get in... now either I need two more root canals, to remove the bones in my mouth, or to just have the teeth pulled and get implants. THANKS ASPEN. Now to resolve everything, it'll be another $2900 on top of the $2500 I'm still paying back to Aspen. Long story short, you're better off letting a senile and blind person treat your mouth than you are going to Aspen Dental. read more

Dr. Lauderdale owns two offices, Columbus and Opelika, AL, These are very well run first-class operations ! As a Vietnam-era vet, Dr. Lauderdale's staff extended every courtesy possible and went well above and beyond anything I am sure Aspen corporate requires. Office manager Nanci Watkins assured I was always taken care of. My surgery was in Opelika, AL, by Dr. Melissa Shah and this gal should have been a heart surgeon, her skills are simply that good. The surgery was a trifle brutal, since my lower jawbone needed a lot of work, but no problem - Dr. Shah called me at home that evening to make sure I was OK. No medial professional has ever done that before for me. By all means patronize the Aspen Dental offices owned/operated by Dr. Candace Lauderdale ! I highly recommend her practices. read more
