I want to preface this that I know customer service people deal with a lot of shit. I am pleasant and nice to them because I know their job is hard. People are angry and upset and it sucks to be yelled at. BUT when someone like me comes in with a smile and polite, reasonable questions and they act like they want me to just shut up and leave them alone? I'm sorry, but that is your job. And my questions aren't stupid. When I'm paying hundreds of dollars (UP FRONT), I do want to know why. I have had an AWFUL experience at Aspen Dental. I'm wondering if their google reviews were paid bots because I can't imagine anyone raving about this place. First of all, their front office staff SUCK. They look at you and treat you with such contempt that you would even dare to bother them with checking in or asking any questions. Any question I asked made her look at me like I was the biggest idiot in the world and was simply wasting her time by existing. Background: I came in for tooth sensitivity after a crown was placed (by them) months ago. I go to check in, and the receptionist tells me my visit will be $150 - before I am even seen. This is all PREPAYMENT. Personally, I don't understand how they can tell me how much my visit will be if the dentist hasn't even looked in my mouth to tell me what I will need to do. I digress. I then ask why it will cost that much, as insurance should cover it. She answers, annoyedly, "for X-rays". I tell her I had X-rays just a few months prior during my previous appointment and would like to opt out. She stares at me, sooooo annoyed that I DARE not just shut up and give her my credit card. She looks over to another receptionist, silently waiting for the receptionist to feel her eyes on her and turn around. It was so awkward. She didn't even ask the other receptionist for help, she literally just stared at her back until she turned around. The other receptionist finally noticed and said, no, it's not 150 for X-rays, it's 107 for an appointment. I once again said insurance should cover it, and they once again dismissed me saying I was wrong. I felt MAJORLY judged and awful about even asking, so I finally handed over my credit card against my better judgement. After sitting down in the waiting room, I got the courage to walk up and tell her I really think there has been a mistake. I have my insurance information right here if she wants to look at it. Once again, nope, I'm an idiot. I ask for an itemized receipt and she looks at me like she wishes I would drop dead right in front of her. She gives me the most confusing receipt in the world from ALL of my visits ever to the dentist, not just this one. I sit down to read it, and finally decide to trust my gut and cancel my appointment. I go up to cancel and tell her I would like my money back and to cancel my appointment because I am uncomfortable with the situation as it should be covered by my insurance. I told her I would like to sort out things with my insurance before I pay that price. She cancels and tells me I will see a return in 5 business days. Whatever, awful experience but I leave. Now it has been over 2 weeks since I requested my money back. Nothing back. I call and each time they tell me they have to wait for their manager to come in to do anything about it. I ask when their manager will come in and they say they can't give out that information. Bruh. I never make reviews like this, but I am at my wits end. They don't even ask for my name when I call. That's how little they care to solve the problem. I called my insurance and yes it should have been free. I went to a different dentist after this bad experience and yes, it was free. I don't even understand WHAT Aspen charged me for. All exams should be free under my insurance. So they lied somewhere and scammed me for money. read more

I'll start off by saying the X-ray tech was amazing. She was so KIND and sweet. She is literally the only reason why I'm giving a star. The actual dentist and his two assistants were horrible. Rather than hearing why I was there they proceeded to chastise me and make me feel like a horrible human being. I felt ashamed and embarrassed when I left. I was given an estimate of 3k worth of dental work. Which left me in a panic as I do not have dental insurance. I went to a different dentist two days later and was given a completely different report than what I was given at aspen. If you absolutely have to go to this place, if it's in your power and ability make sure you get a second opinion. My new dentist gave me an estimate of 1k worth of work and reassured me that I don't have the worst mouth they have ever seen. Aspen made me feel like a horrible person. Stay away from this money hungry place! I have dental insurance and I made sure they were in network before I made any appointments. They submitted the estimate to my insurance for $2500. The negotiated fee is $1050 from MetLife. I am responsible for some expenses not covered by my insurance but Aspen said I would have to pay the $2500. I canceled the rest of my work and will be going elsewhere! Obviously they know nothing about how insurance works. No one answers the phone and don't bother leaving messages, no one calls back!!!! read more

I was terrified to see these people based off the other reviews. But they asked me how I was and I expressed my anxieties and they were very reassuring. I even cried in the chair a couple times before the doc came in- I think it was Kelli- SHE GAVE ME TISSUES. SHE IS SO WHOLESOME. Even when they were explaining I would need a rootcanal- the delivery was superb and comforting. They also love when you talk to them and ask plenty of dental questions. Sure it isn't your job to know what the mesial or distal surface is of your tooth- but it helps the dental team to deliver a better explanation. They also thoroughly went what I would owe due to my insurance coverage, and payment options for my rootcanal procedure I need. I seriously have been dreading the dentist but this team was so great! I had been seen previously for an assessment of a possible dental implant, for which these folks wanted over $8000. I declined the procedure. Today I called and asked if I could be seen for a 6 month check-up and cleaning. The woman who answered the phone said that they couldn't schedule me for such an appointment until I had a full assessment ... which they apparently use to say to you something like, "We can't do this until we do that". All of this apparently sets in motion a "treatment plan" which they would use to get as much money out of you as they can. When I told the woman I did not want to schedule a full assessment and that I wanted to speak to her supervisor, she hung up on me. I called corporate to lodge a complaint, but I will be surprised if anyone takes any action against this rude and clearly hateful woman. If your dental plan pays for everything under the sun that Aspen Dental decides to bill you for, then by all means go ahead and let them take all your money; otherwise, go elsewhere for your regular dental services. This is corporate greed at its finest, with mean and nasty people doing their bidding. read more

This is the worst Dental office I've ever dealt with. Totally ruined my teeth. Will not return a phone call. Been calling May 30th until June 11th, three times a day. Horrible service. The fact that other dentist offices won't except their referrals says a lot. Waited for 2 hours just to get the run around on why the tooth couldn't be pulled. Sent me off with medication that does not work. Tried to call back to get a stronger prescription, the main dentist just kept giving excuses. Suggested over the counter medicine for the pain of an abscess. To top it all off, a quote for 2700 for work that is irrelevant at the moment. I DONT RECOMMEND Aspen Dental in Easton Maryland. Over the past several months my calls have not been returned by Aspen's Easton Maryland office. When I stopped in at the office today, I was treated with very arrogant behavior and the young lady walked away leaving at the counter. She said something to a couple other staff who were sitting toward the back and they seemed to find what she said amusing. I am always very pleasant when things like this occur and after waiting a little while I noticed that the staff was basically continuing to chat and so on... so I departed. I have been a long time patient customer and will not return. It is unfortunate that this degradation of customer service will most likely result in this site closing up if things do not get corrected. Sad to see. read more

I had 2 extraction on 4/24/2023 I had issues and tried round the clock to get a response from someone. I ended up at Urgent Care with a bad infection 3 days after extractions were done. As of 5/17/2023 I am still infected and swollen. My gums were so distorted and trying to heal that i have exposed jaw bone now for the rest of my life.. I cant even get a hold of someone for a receipt of what i have had done so i can submit it to my insurance!!! Very poor service!! DO NOT GO HERE! My husband needed dental clearance for hip replacement. Since he did not have a dentist this was the quickest place to go. Staff was good etc, but when leaving they handed us a bill for over $2100.00 of work to be done before he would get dental clearance. We felt backed into a corner so we agreed. They even charged my card ahead of time, which was shady since the procedure was scheduled in two weeks. So we go to his appointment to have the work done, which I felt was a scam in the first place. Anyway we were asked for $750. I told the girl we have already paid in advance over $2100 (at this point no dental work has ever been done), and now they are asking for additional money to start. Well needless to say, I blew up. I asked to speak to the manager, (yes, I felt like a Karen). of course they said she was in a meeting and I said I'll wait. Finally the girl returns and tells us they will give a coupon for the $750 for today. Well, they already lost all credibility by this time. I asked for a refund on the $2100 (where no service was preformed) and a copy of the dental records. They said it will take 2 weeks to get a refund, and not trusting them at this point, I had the manager put that in writing that a refund will be processed. WHAT A MESS. Deceptive practice. RUN AWAY. this place needs to be shut down. read more

I took my wife to Aspen Dental in Easton Maryland . They took my wife back in her wheelchair like they were going to take care of her while they were checking my insurance. It pays the first thousand and 75 percent of the next five thousand. Then they called me back to tell me they didn't take my insurance because it is not part of their network. And brought my wife out and we left . On the way home I found out that they stuck my wife in a dark room while they were waiting to see if they took my insurance. LP read more

I wanted to like this business, they were all smiles and polite behavior, until they got our $17,000 out of pocket, up front payment. After that, no only did the dental plates not fit my wife, at all, causing open sores, but also the staff became outright rude and condescending. They even bold face lied about available appointments. My wife asked to be seen and they claimed nothing available for nearly 30 days. My sister-in-law called moments later, obviously with a different name, from a different number and they offered 4 different appointment times that week. The front office staff and especially the office manager acted in a simply disgraceful manner. We will find another professional practice to finish the work. RUN DON'T WALK away from this place. If I could give it zero stars I would. We had to change our dentist because he no longer participated in our insurance. Aspen Dental of Easton was listed as a participating provider. I called my insurance company and they in turn called Aspen Dental to confirm they took our insurance. Aspen did confirm this and we then made appointments for new patients. Two days before our appointments we received a text for us to call regarding insurance information. We called the next day and all they asked for was a policy number which we had already given them previously. So, we drove over an hour for our appointments and literally right in the middle of me getting X-rays their receptionist came in and said they did not participate in our insurance. I mean come on, we did all the proper things (especially with a representative from my insurance calling them directly beforehand). If I could give them zero*I would I took my mother today to Aspen dental because she needs lower dentures got there waited over 50 minutes before they called for her. Then they wanted to do x-rays. I informed her I had x-rays that were just done two months ago and they were sent to them. And then they wanted to do a panoramic x-ray, and I requested that they find out how much insurance was going to cover and how much my co-pay was going to be, they refused and told me they don't have time for that. They have to do the x-rays now and I just have to cover whatever wasn't covered under insurance and if I wasn't willing to do that they would not be seeing her because they did not have time for that. I would have to just pay out-of-pocket, when she has insurance They refused to see her. There was nobody else in the office. There was no reason for that. They were very unprofessional will never go back, beware. I had a friend who also went to Aspen dental and they tried to rip her off the same way. She warned me about it, but my mother insisted that she wanted to give them a try well, we gave them a try needless to say they haven't changed. I've never gone to a doctors dentist or anything else like that where they refuse to let you know how much it's gonna cost you and verify your insurance for you, even though I had already spoken to my insurance company and they warned me to make sure I always find out how much it's gonna cost, so there's no surprises. read more

In October 2023 I paid Aspen Dental in Easton MD a nice sum of $.....I had 7 teeth pulled, was fitted with temporary partials and a future date was set for the permanent ones. The partials were miserable to wear; did not fit at all around the teeth left in my mouth. After about 2 weeks I made an appointment to have the dentist take a look and he immediately said they were not right and offered to have them redone. Since I was doing ok with the teeth I had left, I asked if I could get the $ I paid for the partials refunded. He agreed and the lady taking care of financials quoted the amount I could expect shortly in a refund. I asked for an itemized listing but she indicated it would take some time so she would email a copy. I waited several days and got nothing so contacted them. Again, nothing was sent. I went to the office and was told the computers were down but they would email. Again nothing. I called and got no satisfaction, the lady just beat around the bush. Again I went in person and asked to speak to the person handling finances and was told she was busy. I asked about the copy of invoice showing my refund and the refund itself. She waited a few moments and then printed of the paperwork. I asked how soon the refund would be in coming; again, all sorts of excuses...."we have to reach out to corporate". I could go on and on but I have rode 20 miles one way to talk to them in person at least 4 times and called the office that many or more. This week we mailed a letter asking them to do as they promised and give the refund. I doubt I am the only person who has had this experience. I am 83 years old and have NEVER seen such a lack of integrity from any provider. I wonder now if I will even get the permanent partials or if they had any intentions of following through on any of their promises. I am a bit frustrated; perhaps the next step should be in filing a formal complaint with the Maryland Dental Board or simply consult an attorney. James Sullivan read more
