Because of our insurance, we were patients at this office for about seven years, until they evidently stopped taking our insurance and didn't let us know. In trying to make sense of their statements, we found many errors and quite a few claims that had never been submitted to our insurance for payment. The quality of care was fine, for the most part (I agree with some other older comments regarding dentists other than Dr. Hiers); however stretching checkups from every six months to every 9 months (without mentioning that they were doing that, until I questioned it) wasn't acceptable, either. I was told it was due to a lack of hygienists. Lots of marketing comes from this practice; the funds could be put to better use retaining staff. And any medical office that calls appointments "reservations" and doesn't honor requests for "no appointment reminders" is one to avoid, in my opinion. So if you have dental insurance and still want to choose this practice, it'd be a good idea to keep a close eye on your claims. read more

I had been a partient here for 20+ years and used Dr. Hiers. Unfortunately, Dr. Hiers is no longer doing dental procedures. I was assigned to Dr. Morrow - who now runs the practice. He was very obnoxious. He said I need a crown and possibly a root cannal, and possibly an extraction and if there would be an extraction that he would then need to prepare the site for an inplant. He said that I would need to agree to all of these procedures to be done in advance of my next appointment. I was taken aback and asked if he could provide or recommend literature. He laughed and said no. He said that I could go online and be doctor google if I wanted to. I told him I'd rather go to a different dentist and that I did. read more

I moved to Easton from Pennsylvania. I had my dentist in PA for about 40 years. It was a small office, but well run. I was looking for a dentist in Easton and found Eastern Shore Smile Solutions. It is a much bigger office. I have had some good work done there - fillings, root canals, crowns. Almost always a different hygienist. Some are much better and more thorough than others. I have had a tooth infection abscess underneath a bridge that I received at Eastern shore smile solutions. I have been calling for three days I have made five phone calls with all of my complete information and have only had one return phone call that person said that they would have a doctor call me in a prescription for the infection and would set up an appointment for treatment I have not heard anything and it's been two days since that phone call. I am very disappointed. I have had this infection for five days total I have made five phone calls and you cannot get anyone to pick up it is very discouraging read more

My dentist retired so I was "between dentists". Lying in bed and my tooth breaks. Top left side, visible when I smile. I freaked. I had heard about this place so I make an appt. This turns out to be a quick check up which revealed I have a bigger problem on a lower tooth. "Fix it NOW or lose the tooth!" Oh god, ok...schedule it, receive an estimate for $350 and pay $65 for this visit. Filling day comes...new dentist...ok, whatever. He does his thing and tells me to schedule a complete work up...xrays, cleaning...no problem. I go to the desk. She schedules me for 2 Wks out at hands me my bill. $475. I'm flustered by the dental work so I pay and make my appointment and go. But before i go, i ask "Hey. Just a quick guess-timate...how much for an implant?" "Well, that depends on a few factors but best case scenario is $2000 and worst is $3000. Once I pull myself together I decide to write a list of "talking points" before I go further. I arrive for my Checkup and I ask to speak to the doctor first. I explain that I have a list of talking points. And I begin. 1. My tooth wasn't hurting but now that he filled it, it's hurt non stop for 2 weeks. Why? And can we make it stop ? He said "I filled it?? Really?? Me??? I don't know, maybe it's hitting a nerve. It could hurt the rest of your life" 2. I received an estimate of $350 and the bill was $475. That's a jump of one third. Is this a common business practice and can I expect the same when it comes time for my implant? He said "Things happen! You start working on a tooth and it turns out to be worse than you thought. That's not my fault." 3. I started here a month ago with an urgent matter. This is my 3rd visit, I'm down $640 and you've yet to address my matter at hand. When will we discuss my implant. He said "oh, you want an implant? Where? Oh yea, I can write you a treatment plan today and email it to you. I'll be back after your cleaning to take a look" 4. On my way out the door, I produced the 50% coupon that we all get in the mail. The receptionist looked confused and had to ask for help as to how to deal with this. Like she'd never seen one before. I'd guess they want you to show that at the beginning so they can charge you accordingly. $218 bill just became $109 and my tally just reached $749 and no implant. When he returned, the hygienist told him how I almost jumped out of the chair when she touched the tooth he worked on. He decided that was the opportune time to tell her she had cleaned the light with the wrong product and how it left spots. He thought they had made this clear to all the new people but obviously not. He then blew cold air on that tooth and I squealed. I said that's the tooth that made me go through the roof a few min ago. He said "You HARDLY went through the roof!!" As if he thought I meant it literally!! I locked eyes and said It's. A. Saying. thinking if I talk slow he'd get it. I decided he was no longer my dentist at that moment. I got the email for the implant $5700. Well, that's quite a jump from his receptionist's guess. My guess is he doesn't like to be challenged either on his dental skills or his business practices. They are all shady in my opinion. A quick assessment...DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. Easton is FULL of dentists. There is no need to go to one that wants to swindle you out of as much money as possible but isn't willing to discuss things that are making you uncomfortable or confused. I've been in customer service my whole life and I would never treat a client like I was treated. The acronym for complaint resolution is LAST. Listen. Ask. Solve. Thank. That's it. No other words. No excuses. No defensive behavior. And certainly no bullshit estimate designed to make a trouble maker go away. Wrong again, Dr. Hiers...I'm just getting started. read more

I've been a patient at ESSS for four years and actually enjoy going to the dentist now. The experience is great from the pleasant waiting room (staff, surroundings, coffee) to the hygienists to the dentists. Everyone is warm and friendly--and they do great work. I was especially pleased at the way Dr. Hiers did my second crown so expertly, with no need to go back for additional appointments. (What a change from my miserable experience with another dentist on the first one). Given my budget, I turn down the frequent Xrays and other add-ons, and this is quickly accepted. worthless place, went for an appointment was told they could not do anything because the dentist was out on vacation (despite having the appointment for a month) and that they would need to reschedule which i said i would need to see when i could do so. They proceeded to get an attitude and demand that i made the appointment right then. Called for an appointment in July of 2019. Was told nothing available until after Feb of 2020. Was also told that I would be placed on a cancellation list. This office cannot keep decent help or dentists. Called to cancel my appointment and was told I would get a bill for cancelling my appointment. I stated that was fine since I had found a new dentist. Love the staff, but Dr. Morrow is rude and insensitive. I am 63-year-old with hearing aids. I went in today for an extraction and I hard time hearing him. It was the most unpleasant office visit I have ever experienced. I needed more Novocain but did not get it. Instead he aggressively continued to pull out the tooth. The dental assistant was Rebecca that worked on me today along with Dr. Hiers. Rebecca was the best! She explained every procedure that was being done on me and made me feel at ease. I moved to the eastern shore from annapolis where I had the same dentist for years. On my first visit to ESSS I was sent by a hygienist who "examined" my teeth. She didn't really do much but look around. A dentist came in a looked at my X-rays and stated I needed two root canals and three fillings. I asked about sedation dentistry and he said that would be a good option to have everything done at once. They took my "deposit" of $350 and said a patient coordinator would call and schedule my appointment. A few weeks went by and no call but I did get a letter stating my bill would be approximately $4500 (with insurance) when I called her and asked what I could do to lessen the cost she told me to get the fillings done first then in September my insurance would renew and I could have another $1000 towards the cost. Ok. I scheduled the three fillings. Had them done (took almost 3 hours) dentist was in and out and in and out then needed more novicane and had to wait etc. the patient coordinator said she would get the OK from my primary physician and call me to schedule the sedation appointment . Well September came and went so I called them and they said I would need to come in for another appointment just to go over everything and have the dentist check my teeth (not sure why that wasn't done at the last appointment or the one before that, but ok whatever) Schedule my appointment for the "check up" and take off work. Go in and they don't have my chart-it's at the other office. Then they tell me that they aren't sure why someone said I needed to come back in because there was nothing that needed to be done. 30 minutes later and the hygienist says the doctor is busy but I can go home and she's sorry I made a wasted trip. I ask to schedule the root canal (it's been 4 months and my tooth HURTS). The patient coordinator isn't in. They will have her call me and schedule. The front desk tells me that there is not paperwork from my primary care doctor so she can't schedule the sedation. Then I get a call an hours AFTER I LEFT that I need to schedule another appointment for "probing" before they do the root canal. I almost lost my mind. I was JUST IN THE OFFICE. And was in there two months prior to that and I already had the treatment plan. I was NOT PAYING for something else and taking off another day off work. At this point they told me they would give me the refund for the $350 if that is what I wanted. Yes yes. Please. This place is so unorganized and bring you back in for one thing after another to earn an extra buck Well it's been 3 weeks and STILL NO REFUND. I have contacted them three times only to be completely ignored!! These people do not plan for your visit. They have no idea what you are coming in for. Your chart may or may not be in the office. The computers may or may not have your information uploaded and the patient coordinator may or may not schedule your sedation. What they WILL DO is take your money and charge your for ANY little thing they can. read more

Use Dr Ali Soulati 410-819-0060. I gave ES Smile Solutions one star because I had to. Dr. Hiers gave me an implant years ago and I had nothing but trouble and ended up getting an oral surgeon to cut it out. I gave the place another chance because United Concordia accepts them. I had my teeth cleaned and the hygienist kept trying to up-sell (xrays etc, see other reviews). I agreed to meet the dentist (not Hiers) and they charged me for a check up. A year later, I get a bill for $129, no info, just "New Balance $129". I call and write and I cannot get them to bill my insurance. Brittany and Ariel keep telling me I don't have insurance ("Your insurance says you are termed out). End of story is they have been billing the wrong insurance company (I have had dental insurance since 1979). They just wouldn't listen. I've been a patient with Eastern Shore Smile Solutions for a few years and this is the third time I've called with a dental emergency that I've been told to wait A MONTH and after explaining the impossibility of that, a few days. If you don't actually take emergency dental patients do not state so in your website. I needed an extraction immediately due to severe pain and infection. I was told that I could be seen and made the appointment only to be told AFTER paying for x-rays that the soonest they could extract the tooth was over a month away and then eventually a few days away. What was the point of bringing me in for that!? This is a situation that needed immediate relief. I found another office that advertised emergency care and had the appointment and extraction the same day. So again I say, DO NOT claim to offer emergency dental care if you do not actually offer emergency dental care!!! read more

I was a patient for a number of years and basically satisfied. I did get the feeling I was being sold unneeded "extras"; photographs, fluoride treatments . As the younger guy became my main dentist, he was in and out with no time for explanations and all the warmth of an android. The last straw was being told I needed a crown. I asked for some description of the urgency. He replied he would explain when he was finished with current procedure but he zipped out with no explanation. I left and over 2 years later have tooth he wanted to crown and no problems. You can do better easily. read more

I had been with this practice for several years and all was well. Then when I decided to finally get a nightguard to help my teeth pain, I was told by the receptionist who scheduled the appointment that I could pay half the cost at the initial appointment and half when I picked up the final product. At the end of the initial appointment, they demanded the full cost and insinuated I was lying about the payment since I "didn't have anything in writing". This was 4 days before Christmas, which I meant I was out another $200 and then couldn't afford Christmas presents for some people. When I told them this they informed me they would handle it but offered me no solutions to assist with payment. I told them I had budgeted what I was told and was going to pay as agreed, but they didn't care and insisted there was nothing that could be done to help me. You mean a business has no options for payment plans??? Give me a break. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere. read more
