My experience at Aspen Dental was deeply unsettling and unprofessional from start to finish. I initially felt encouraged when the dentist entered, but communication quickly became difficult. There was no meaningful discussion of my dental history, and I struggled to follow what was being said. Only two questions were directed to me; the rest felt like commentary at me rather than a conversation with me. During the exam, the dentist stated that one of my teeth needed to be removed and possibly treated with a root canal. It soon became clear she was referring to my front tooth, which I had already repaired last summer after an injury. Once I explained this, she abruptly changed her assessment and said it was healing. That sudden contradiction raised serious concerns about the accuracy of the exam. I then accompanied my daughter to her appointment, as we were told our consultations would be done together--something that immediately felt inappropriate. During my daughter's cleaning, the hygienist repeatedly referenced my "diseased mouth" while instructing my 19‑year‑old daughter, saying things like, "You need to floss every morning and night or you'll end up like your mom." This was humiliating, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. When the dentist examined my daughter, she recommended extracting all four wisdom teeth, despite the fact that my daughter has had them for nearly five years with no issues, and two prior dental offices had confirmed they did not need to be removed. The eagerness to recommend extensive treatment without clear justification was alarming. The consultation process was equally concerning. None of the clinical staff reviewed the treatment plans. Instead, a young staff member--who appeared unfamiliar with how to properly explain procedures or insurance coverage--presented the plans. My estimated out‑of‑pocket cost was over $11,000, with insurance covering only $2,000. After briefly speaking with a hygienist, a few items were removed, bringing it down to $10,000. My daughter's proposed treatment exceeded $6,000, despite her having had only two cavities in her entire life. When I asked basic questions--what insurance covered, why certain procedures weren't covered, or whether I could proceed only with insurance‑approved care--I received vague, unclear answers. I was repeatedly told this was "necessary treatment" and that my "disease" would worsen without it. The use of fear and shame to pressure acceptance of costly treatment felt predatory. This experience was especially upsetting because I had called three times beforehand to confirm I would be receiving a routine new‑patient cleaning and establishing care. I had no prior concerns before switching providers due solely to an insurance change. After leaving, I contacted my former dental office. They did recommend some work, but nothing remotely close to what Aspen Dental proposed, and she confirmed that most of the legitimate treatment would be covered by insurance. This was, without question, the worst dental experience I have ever had. Based on my experience, Aspen Dental appears to prioritize profit over patient care, education, and ethics. This is my first ever time leaving a yelp review and if I could rate 0 stars I would. I had to get my wisdom teeth removed and it ended up being the worst medical experience of my life. It all began with the quote they gave me, four wisdom teeth had to be taken out and I had a few cavities that needed to be taken care of as well. It ended up being 6 grand total before my insurance covered half of it. They had gone over a "payment plan" with me and I left with an immediately maxed out credit card they had issued me with an insanely high interest rate because I could only afford a couple hundred dollars a month. On top of that the process for making my payments every month is extremely difficult and not user friendly at all. Finances aside I had gone in for my first few appointments for my cavities and had noticed all the dental equipment looked really outdated/rusted but hey I'm 21 years old and hadn't been to a dentist in years so I overlooked it and tried to not worry about it. Going in for my wisdom tooth removal I was expecting a call a day or two before on how to prepare for the surgery and complete sedation, a call that never arrived. I had to do my own research on how to prep for this because I've never had surgery before. I had gone in for my surgery very nervous and was met with the front desk lady immediately getting frustrated with me that I had driven myself. When I had explained to her that my ride home couldn't be there until I needed to be picked up due to an emergency that came up, the lady had gotten quite mad at me and told me it was basic surgery protocol to have my ride in the office before we could start. I understand having to follow protocol but wished I was informed of this the day before rather than right before I went in. At this point I'm sobbing in the lobby trying to get someone there before I lost my appointment. The entire office was ignoring that this was happening and treating me like I was throwing a tantrum rather than experiencing a full blown anxiety attack. When I had a ride lined up I was taken back to the room where I was going to be put under, still sobbing btw because I wasn't comfortable getting surgery in an office that wasn't treating me like a human being. After a few minutes the same front desk lady had came back to inform the surgeon that my dad was in the office, he wasn't, my dad lives 10 hours away from me and the man they were referring to was my aunt by marriages father who had to be called in last minute due to the negligence of the front desk. As they were prepping me the oral surgeon had informed me they were going to leave a part of my tooth in "and it probably won't cause any problems down the line" this was told to me probably less than a minute before they had put my iv in to fully sedate me. In terms of the actual surgery healing I'll give credit where credit is due because I healed up great, or so I thought until recently I had started to feel the LEFT OVER TOOTH PIECE COMING IN THROUGH MY GUMS. So now I'm left with a fully maxed out medical credit card with 3 grand of high interest debt and a tooth piece still left in there that I'm hoping I don't have to have removed by aspen dental because I never want to step foot in that office again. Matter of fact I will never step foot in the Panda Express it's attached to either. As a young person who hadn't gone to the dentist in years due to not having the money for it/being scared of the dentist in general this experience has just confirmed all of my prior fears. Moral of the story is if a dentist is charging you an egregious amount of money to have oral surgery in an office attached to a Panda Express, RUN. If I had the money I'd be suing but I don't so here I am writing this yelp review hoping someone will see it and go elsewhere. WORST DENTAL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. They make you get an "exam" before ever hearing what you need done. They make you pay for the exam but conveniently leave out you have to pay for the stuff they find out that you need after the exam before you can even set an appointment for the work you need done. Edit: 02/27/2025: In addition to everything listed below, they've now sent me a $70 bill for two PAs. I made it very clear in the office to the woman in front, and the manager, that I was only there for a limited exam and I wanted only what was covered with the limited exam because I was in pain and I have dental insurance, they just don't take my insurance because it is state insurance. I know you are a corporate dental establishment only worried about your production goals and maximizing your treatment, but you really need to be careful with who you try to pull a fast one on. Nowhere on my treatment plan, or under your limited exam plan, does it say that I authorized anything outside of what I specifically requested. I want every document I signed sent to me. I made it clear. I confirmed the cost with the manager and the lady with the purple hair in front. I told them to charge me for everything due because I am not coming back to that location. They had every opportunity to charge me then, and they didn't. I drove out there, far from home, out of desperation. I didn't have a choice. It's nice to see how they prey on that desperation. I was willing to let the poor treatment received while I was there go. But now I've changed my mind. ~Despite the long wait for a a limited exam, and everyone being so nice, I would have given five stars if not for my issue with the fact that the doctor did not put his name on my prescription or my endo referral, and when me, the pharmacist, and my mum tried to call any and every aspen dental office number on the nation, none of the phone lines are connected. I had to go to urgent care in the end, show them the prescription, and waste so much more of my day in order for them to write me a prescription so I could get my antibiotics. Good luck getting in touch with anyone by phone. All the pharmacists at Costco can confirm that not a single one was able to get one line to connect. read more

My care here was genuinely awful. These people prey on those with poor dentistry in the first place so they can leech up any money they can get. They're another corporate scam that's only goal is to obtain more money. Came in there to get a tooth cap, for an upper front tooth that had cracked, and the dentist shaved the tooth down to a nub, lazily put on the cap to where I had and still have bits of it stabbing me at times or cutting my tooth floss in half with one swipe, and now I have a fat infection on it that's going clear up my tooth to the inside of my nostril. Huge abscess. They refuse to do anything about it because I can't put more money on the care credit card. All they do is give me antibiotics that are never strong enough to get rid of the abscess. Both times I've got the antibiotics, finished them. Both times didn't work. They keep trying to get me to get a root canal, for thousands, on the tooth they ruined. I've been seen for the abscess twice so far; the first time was for awful pain that made me go to the er a day or two before that, but I had to wait in the waiting room forever, as I do each and every trip here, then I had to wait in the back room for the dentist for another lifetime. The dentist came into the room, touched my tooth for a moment, said, "abscessed", then we left with an antibiotic that didn't even do anything. Second time I went, waiting in the waiting room for 40 minutes, only got seen when we said something. Got in, got an x-ray, put in a back room, then left without the dentist ever seeing the tooth. This was supposed to be a re-scheduled appointment, too. We had to reschedule that Monday, after driving 40 minutes there, just to be told that they didn't call yet to tell us the dentist wasn't there yet, and we'd need to go another day. The people here are nice, but their work sucks and they really don't deserve the massive loads of money that people give them. They are ALWAYS slow with everything. Nothing is ever organized. Everyone always seems to be scrambling around. That one lady who manages the money part of it talked to me like I was a child. Acted like I was stupid for asking if I could just get the tooth out instead of getting a root canal, and she didn't even answer my question. She told me, "You know it won't grow back, right?" like she was mocking me. But the people working here are very nice. I'd feel awful if I didn't say that. read more

Gosh were to start. Aspen dental did my upper dentures approx 1 year ago. They have broke in 1/2 3 times. So I requested a new denture. it took 7 trips to get my dentures. and I come from an hour away. One of those days I stayed in McMinnville all day so they could get as much done as possible. one time I came, in and they had my denture but put in the wrong color. and then tried to blame me when the lady never gave me a choice. Then another time I came at 9 am - They kept taking in other people. When I asked around 9:30 they final told me the dentist hadn't shown up. I run and Office and if I am not there my business has to close. So I finally received my denture this last week. The so called manager said they would make it up to me due to all the time I had to miss work and drive an hour each way. But still haven't received anything from them. I was told over the phone that my "new patient" visit would be free. I was also told that instead of costing $102.00 for teeth cleaning, they were running a special and it would only cost $82.00. After I got to the office, I was X-rayed, (never mentioned during phone consult), and my cleaning didn't happen. I was told cleaning would cost $660.00. I told the young lady of my phone conversation and the 82 dollar special. She said that was an error and the office was trying to get that error fixed. I reminded her that verbal agreements are legally binding in Oregon and that she should delete my records because I would never be back. read more

Don't believe anything they tell you. I scheduled an appointment online since that is what the recording via phone said to do. When I showed up I was told that it was only an initial visit with no cleaning which is not what I expected. I asked that they only provide service for what my insurance would cover. Aspen told me that they called my insurance provider and got the green light and I was covered. I now have a bill from Aspen for services that my insurance denied. A quick call to my insurance confirmed that Aspen never called or checked online for my coverage. They record each inquiry and there were none from Aspen on my account. Now of course Aspen says it is not their problem and I am responsible. To top it off they somehow double booked the time I had so I was there for two hours. Two hours to have basically nothing done other than an xray that wasn't covered. Definitely will not be back since they can't seem to be trusted. read more

I seen Lisa today for my new dentures they were needing some ajustments she was awesome explained what she was doing and gave me some information about getting use to the new dentures she is so personable and was very caring the entire staff at McMinnville are all very nice and caring great atomosphere I've been going there for about 6 years and have always had the best care thank you aspen dental for giving me such good care especially Lisa read more

My boyfriend had a infected tooth, that half of it had fallen out. He was in a ton of pain and needed to get it pulled asap. Called aspen dental at 6:00am and they had an appointment that day at 7:45 so drove there from Salem. Took X-rays and did the extraction in less than an hour! Payment was $353 but went down to $87 after they ran our insurance! Would highly recommend for emergency, same day care! read more

A lot of unhappy people there that day, including us. There were people waiting there for hours. The receptionist came out and asked if anyone wanted to reschedule, since it was taking so long. One guy got up and said "No! I've been here two hours!" and he walked out. We had a 1pm apt and waited til 4pm, and all they had done was xrays. They said it would be another 45 minutes before they could work on his tooth (after our already 3 hour wait), so we walked out too. Another lady was saying "this is a joke, I've been here an hour and 45 minutes and they haven't even called me in for my appt." The receptionist was saying something about they had three rooms to clean to get ready for the appts. They were insensitive, not helpful and unprofessional. Steer clear! read more

I was scheduled for an appointment very quickly, less than a week out, for a very dire, serious ailment of mine, extremely excited about how quick things were moving along. So, I went, went through the entire appointment extremely confused, was irritated as to why (since my appointment was with the oral surgeon) they were giving me difficulty on actually seeing the oral surgeon, called later to see what had happened and they explained that I had been scheduled for the wrong type of appointment, and there was 0 reason that they should have scheduled me for the type of appointment I wanted in the first place. The oral surgeon wasn't there and couldn't see me whatsoever. To top it all off, the "dentist" I did see was a shifty little dude dressed in a dingy, colored polo and slacks who had no idea what he was doing, who needed to be advised (dare I say SCOLDED) on what to do by the assistant. Then I saw him outside in the back on his phone smoking a cigarette looking angry right after I left the building. So then I tried with the Aspen Dental office 2nd closest to me (not this one but still within the Aspen Dental network). For the second time my time was wasted and I was needlessly infuriated along a difficult medical journey, these people scheduled my appointment as absolutely the wrong thing, I needed to see an oral surgeon and when I talked to one receptionist they said "ok" and scheduled me for about a week out, then the day before, I get a call from a different receptionist saying the oral surgeon wouldn't even be in the office that day, the oral surgeon wouldn't be able to see me, and the appointment WAS scheduled but just as a basic checkup appointment. Basically a smaller version of my first trainwreck of an experience. What is wrong with Aspen Dental? Genuinely curious. read more

I absolutely love this office! You should know that I am terrified of the dentist, and I've never previously had major work done on my teeth. I went in for tooth pain, and ended up asking Dr. Bowyer to just pull it. We agreed to go ahead and take the rest of my wisdom teeth out with the one that was causing the issue. Dr. Bowyer has been incredibly patient with me. He's honest and thorough, and just really level. He interacts with his patients, and listens when they speak-- Even when the words sound like more like arbitrary grunting and whining from the novocaine. Impressive. Lisa is one of the assistants and she was so amazing. When Dr. Bowyer was excising my teeth, she held my hand and soothed me through my anxiety, reminding me to breathe and really helped me feel cared for. Cassidy is a hoot! She seemed really genuine and down to Earth as we discussed financing options. I forgot where I was for a split second, because she was just that chill. I can't remember the names of everyone I've interacted with at Aspen. But I've yet to have any complaints, and I'm a bit of a "Karen," so that really tells you something about the humans running the location. They're really just easy people to be around, even in personally scary situations. Honestly, it felt like leaving family when I left, and when I came back they knew my name. They remembered little details. I was so surprised to read some of these reviews and have decided that I'm right and everyone else is wrong on this. For the last 2 years Aspen Dental, McMinnville, Oregon office nickled and dimed me for over $5,000 when the dentist should have been honest with me and told me I should just pull the rest of my upper teeth so I could then could a denture plate for my upper jaw. Now 2 years later I'm having teeth pulled and getting a denture for my upper mouth and a lower partial denture, since Aspen made of mess of the lower denture they made me. I called the McMinnville Aspen Dental location and while I was talking about the pain, the lady on the other end of the phone proceeded to chuckle at me and rudely interrupt me. I was also talking to the clackamas location and again was interrupted in the middle of my sentence, this happened multiple times. Part of their motto is that they care about you as a patient and they care about the pain you're experiencing, the way I was treated whilst on the phone with these two locations was rude and made me feel as though they didn't care about me or my pain. read more

Well, I had given them an OK rating Originally. I just called to have my records ready to go explaining I was on a tight schedule due to limited time off work. I called so they would have them and any x-rays ready. They flat out refused to do it and said I simply had to wait because "other people had called and not shown up". My experience with Aspen Dental in McMinnville was one of the absolute worst experiences I've ever had with health care providers. I made an appointment, I thought, for my semi-annual prophy. It was not made clear to me at all during the scheduling phone call that this wasn't the case. The first thing they did after I checked in was to do xrays. They didn't seem to care whether I'd had them at my last visit to my former dentist in Portland. I asked, both when I made the initial call and when I spoke with the hygienist about getting my records from my former provider. They told me they didn't need to. Anyway, I was pushed through a check-up and told I needed debridement and an electric toothbrush and I was given a "treatment plan" while meeting with the clinic's financial person. It was recommended that I have prophy every 3 months even though my insurance will only pay for two per year. The whole thing was like and assembly line. They told me I needed a new crown too. I felt really uncomfortable about the way they dealt with me, so I ended up seeing my former dentist who is now out of network but will bill my insurance company, Anyway, the hygienist there explained that they had been monitoring the pockets which Aspen's hygienist said needed debridement. The former provider had been doing deep cleanings on those pockets for a few years. They also told me the reason for the "5" in some pockets is that the bone is receding. The gums are not infected, there's just less bone which causes the "5" pockets. If Aspen had taken the time to get my records before scheduling my appointment, they would have known and created a treatment plan the corresponded to the reality of my dental present and dental history. These people are competent professionals with a business model that did not meet my needs. They just don't care what a person's dental history is, and therefore they don't get a complete picture of their patient. read more

My wife actually was able to make it to her cleaning and the dental hygienist came out and told my wife she was having a bad day and that is why it was taking so long, immediately she got up and left. Do not go here! I had a tooth extracted and I have never had a worse experience. He couldn't get it out and then later told me there was still a root tip in there he still needed to get out. After intense pain he said "let's get an xray to see how big it is." Turns out there was no root tip at all he was trying to extract my nerve. I am now going to a different dentist to fix the damage caused by Aspen dental. I would sue but dental malpractice is almost impossible to prove. I had a cracked tooth and needed a dentist right away--they are all booked but Aspen got me in to see a dentist--then it was you need a root canal --then it was no--we will do a crown--so I decided to fix the tooth--so the temporary lasted 2 days--had to go back--have it installed again--crown arrives does not fit--so back to temporary--so it stays in for 5 days --comes out after I had to go thru the whole impression thing again--now I get to go back and have the temporary one glued back in to wait for the crown which I have my doubts will stay in either--this will end my business with this apprentice dental school read more

Too expensive, prices are high. plus they try and sell u products u don't need. Couple days ago from the time of this review post. I went here because I had a filling that came apart and my usual dentist that I go to was busy and couldn't get me in soon enough so I decided to give aspen dental a try since I needed it done ASAP, they told me I needed a crown because a filling wasn't possible, and quoted me slightly over $2000 just for a crown. Over priced! Ok rewinding back in time before aspen dental. I already went in to my typical doctor to get my tooth checked out to see what options the doctor could figure out for my filling that has came apart. Which he concluded that he could fix it by filling it in again for under $180 or doing a gold crown for under $1100 a gold crown we talking about people!!!! Anyways I didn't deal with aspen dental. After I walked out of there I called my usual dentist office and asked if they can please get me in sooner. They said they could so i just waited a few days and got my tooth filled since at that moment I was on a budget. Now it's like new again!!! read more
