I made an appointment because I needed a crown done. $140 and 2 hours later, all I get is them trying to up sell me on products and Invisalign and "yup you need a crown and should get that done ASAP". As a whole my experience at the office from what I remember was not terrible. Staff were friendly. I am writing this because I am unsatisfied with the long term results. I was told I had about 6 cavities that needed fillings (coming from my previous dentist telling me I had none) and some expensive treatment for my gums due to bleeding. I had the cavities filled and the gum treatment done and bought all the recommended products/services (which was not cheap). Since my visit, 3 fillings have fallen out...which I now have to pay again to get them filled. The results from the gum treatment to decrease bleeding only lasted a short time despite me following all after care directions. Then I received noticed that the dental office over charged me and owed me a refund...Took multiple calls but about a week later I received the refund. Glad they were honest and caught the billing mistake but still not worth going back. read more

My wife and I had appointments for initial exam and cleanings. Started out well, check in, xrays, exam. Then they tell us they can't do regular cleaning, that we need periodontal therapy, $2500, after insurance our part about $1200. They sat me down with finance person after they scared me about having all my upper teeth removed. High pressure sales feel to a health care appointment after being scared was worse than my root canal! I want the truth from a doctor, maybe these guys need a class in bedside manner. Just beware, they will start with most expensive treatment after scaring you. Go informed about treatment options and insurance coverage. read more

I love coming to this office! The people there are always so nice and welcoming. Dr Thomas is the dentist there and he is always very good at explaining things for me and making sure I fully understand what he is doing or reccomends. I don't have dental insurance and I found the pricing very accomidating. They offered me discounts on there services and I was able to get on a payment plan for the rest with monthly payments that worked for my budget. I have to use Aspen Dental due to my insurance. I just got dental insurance and had not seen a dentist in Tucson since moving here in 2011. I scheduled the appointment due to an infection. Now I know how bad my teeth are, but I am on a very tight budget and I have no money for anything extra after paying for rent and food. My x-ray tech was incredibly kind and caring but once Dr. Lee entered the room I felt I was being shamed for being poor. I was being schooled on how bad my teeth are and how I have to get dentures regardless of finances, to the point that I was in tears. I was told that I needed those dentures right this minute. Dr Lee has no people skills; he thought he was being funny as he insulted me. I will talk to my insurance company to see if I can switch dentist for any future dental issues. You should never feel embarrassed and shamed visiting a dentist or doctor. I am very disappointed. read more

The staff here is friendly and they don't cut corners by double checking their work. They make sure that you are comfortable and sufficiently numb for any procedure. The front office staff is willing to work with you to set up a payment plan and/or insurance option that works for you. The one drawback is they have been backed up on a few occasions and you end up spending a lot of time waiting. The waiting room is comfortable and the rooms in the back each have a TV attached to the chair. They don't do endodontics but are willing to refer you to an other office. read more

When I called to make the appointment I was told that my initial appointment/ consultation including the x-rays would be free. I told them that I have dental insurance. They said they would send a charge to the insurance company, but I would not have to pay anything. When I arrived I had several employees again tell me there would be no cost to me for this "consultation". During my visit they insisted that they take 2 complete sets of dental x-rays. I have about 8 teeth left, I don't understand why they needed 2 set unless it was to up the charges to send the insurance company. I told them I didn't want the extra set, but they said "it's ok, it won't cost you anything. There will be no charge for today." Two weeks later I GOT A BILL for over $100 in the mail!!! They lied!!! Worse than that is the person introduced to me as the dentist declared my allergy to local anesthetics was all in my head and said he would give me a sedative so I wouldn't care if he gave me the local anesthetics. NOT OK!!! Unethical!! That borders on malpractice!!! I kept telling him that the last person who didn't believe me and gave me a full syringe of the local anesthetic almost put me into respiratory arrest, but he ignored me!! I WANT DENTURES, BUT I DON'T WANT TO HAVE A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE TO GET THEM!!!! read more

Months later after calling Aspen Dental twice and being told I would get a call back from the office manager(which never happened), I sumbitted a review on their website. Finally i got a response. What was explained to me is the discrepancy came from them trying to charge my insurance $53 for the varnish but it wasn't covered. They then asked if I had any documentation proving the price difference. Unfortunately I no longer have my receipt. I said both the office manager and I already knew the insurance wasn't going to cover it. I was told that it would be $44.00 for the varnish and that's all I would have to pay. I asked why would I have paid that amount? I had to pay before I got the service! (it wasn't a $53 payment plan). I explained $10 isn't a lot of money. In nicer terminology, the problem is I'm basically getting ripped off. I paid the $10 A few days later just to let go of the aggravation. All I can say is store or scan your receipts and good luck if you go to Aspen Dental. Also as a side note my previous dentist at Silverbell Dental, who unfortunately is not contracted with my new dental insurance company, only charged me $30 for varnish just fyi. read more

So I first went to them in Nov '14, had Xrays done, cleaning etc. 6 months later I go back and at this point I have a bump on my gum, so I bring it up to the hygienist and turns out its an abscess tooth...great :( So as the dentist is talking behind my back to the hygienist I can hear shes referring to my xrays. So I ask her if you can see the infection in my Xrays, she says yes, so I respond with "why didn't anyone mention this to me 6 months ago!?!?!?!?!" and she said and I quote "Because I wasn't here, hahaha" (The dentist I saw last had moved to PHX) Not funny lady!!! So here I am pretty upset because she is basically telling me the tooth will most likely have to be pulled and she keeps saying "its just a tooth"!! Then they send me to a endodontics, only for him to tell me he cant help me because the infection is in the gum not the root. Oh great $55 later and total waste of time, plus time off work. Office is very clean and orderly. It took 10-15 minutes to wait in front office before beibg called in the back for X-rays. Staff was courteous and attentive. One major issue was the wait to see the doctor and hygienist. It took close to 40 minutes to be seen. Most of the work was done by the hygienist and Doctor only spent about 10 minutes with me. While the doctor was nice, this wait time is unacceptable for someone who has to go to work. Then, they take you to the business manager to write up your bill and that took another 10 minutes. Will go back but will schedule it accordingly to avoid the wait times. Perhaps early morning at 7am. read more

Aspen Dental agree they are fault in my case and they don't have any options to resolve with it!!!! I found Aspen Dental at 4356 N Oracle Rd STE 140, Tucson, AZ 85705 from my insurance in-network. I made an appointment for Endodontics on Tuesday 11/13/2018 at 10:45 a.m. When I made appointment, I told the girl who made an appointment for me about my insurance under Cigna DHMO. She said they are cover this insurance. I took a day off for root canal. I got there at 10:45a.m. on Tuesday 11/13.The girl sit at the front of the desk, she said to me, they are not cover Cigna DHMO. She will sent me to another location. I made sure if the other location will take me on the same day and take this insurance. She called to make sure, then said to me an appointment will at 1 p.m in 6303 E Broadway Blvd STE 101, Tucson, AZ 85710. I drove 30mins from Oracle road to Broadway location. When I got there, the girl sat in the front of the desk asked me who made this appointment for you. She seems like she didn't know. Then another girl came out told me, their Endodontics Doctor will be in the office on Wednesday. I asked could you make an appointment for me on Wednesday. She told me our Emdodontics doctor not take your insurance. Do you acceptable with this situation? I made an appointment for Endodontics. I took an unpaid day for my endodontists appointment. And I went to two different locations in one day, and didn't get treatment. I called aspen dental customer service to explain my experience at Aspen Dental, I would like to solve this problem with Aspen Dental. The lady said she is a supervisor, she only have an options to make my appointment at self- pay with Endodontics. I'm not accept the service they treat me. High pressure sales techniques to sell their overpriced services. I went in for an initial exam and when they got me into the exam room they tried to upsell me a "light test" for oral cancer for 30 dollars. I knew it would go downhill from there. After the exam and x-rays you are taken by the office manager into a room where they try to sell you treatment plans based on your exam. My treatment plan included things like an electric toothbrush for 135 dollars plus quite a few other things of questionable therapeutic value most of which my insurance would not cover. They even offer you financing for their overpriced services. To give you an example the first half of my treatment plan had the insurance paying 427 dollars in benefits and me paying 819 out of my pocket. That is pretty amazing since my insurance covers 80 percent of most legitimate services. On top of that they wanted you to sign a form committing to be responsible for those charges and they also wanted a 307 dollar down payment before they would schedule my first treatment. PBS frontline did a story on this corporation a few years ago. I suggest you google it before you think about going to one of these offices. They are easy to get into and the staff is pleasant but like most things that are easy there is always a price to pay. read more

If you are looking to have new dentures made, this is not the place to go. While the staff is friendly and Dr. Lee is very thorough, they should terminate the man who makes the dentures. They offer 4 levels of pricing for dentures but fail to tell you the difference. I did not pick the cheapest nor the most expensive. After 2 complete sets, the dentures still are not properly fitted nor do they look good. I will never go there again nor recommend them to any one. read more

I live in Tucson, but I am the son of a dentist residing in Phoenix. In December of 2014, I went in to Aspen for an exam, x-rays, and cleaning. The bill was for $220, $120 of which was my co-pay. After the exam and set of 15-19 "full-mouth" x-rays were completed, I inquired about the cleaning. I was told by the hygienist that I needed a deep-cleaning, aka "scaling", and that my teeth would not and could not be cleaned in the regular fashion. The co-pay for the scaling was another $130. Well, as a teacher here in Tucson, I didn't have a spare $130 after having just paid $120 for the first co-pay. So, I called Aspen and asked if they would just clean my teeth to get rid of the plaque, etc. for now and asked if we could do the scaling on the next visit. I was told by a receptionist, a hygienist, and the office manager that my request was impossible because the hygienist had "prescribed" my scaling and that she would "lose her license" if she back-tracked on her assessment and scaling plan. This all sounded fishy to me, so I called the AZ Board of Dental Examiners and was told there was no such rule about hygienists losing their license over a request like mine. They essentially told me I'd been fed a line. Therefore, I was lied to by Aspen three times by three different people, including the office manager. Given that my first co-pay was $120, that I was given almost 20 x-rays (I've never had more than six in 45 years), and that I was being forced into another high co-pay cleaning... I'll allow you to draw your own conclusions. I will be reporting Aspen Dental to the BBB and filing a complaint with the Board of Dental Examiners (for starters).
