Tee box/fairway on a golf course

Here's the deal, this was the first time playing this course for a few of us. The course itself (i.e. layout, views, etc) amazing. Couple things. 1-Tee boxes need some work, I.E. hole 13 ‍ being in the center of that tee box was like being on top of Mt Everest. 2- The GREENS..IDK what to say, diseased/dead spots/bumpy just bad. The fact you guys are charging $100 green fees for that?! Those aren't even greens. I understand you lost water or whatever but that's not worth $100 on any day of the week and that's why you get 1 star. If those 2 things were even average this course is a solid 4 stars.

Central Oregon boasts a lot of very good to great golf courses, many with spectacular views of the nearby Cascades. While Aspen Lakes has the views, it falls down a bit on quality. - Prices are in line with what many around here charge: $90 with cart during peak season/time. - Decent practice facilities. - They use a starter, which is good. - Interesting layout. You'll be challenged in many ways - bunkers, water, narrow tree-lined fairways, pin placement. Watch out for hidden water - there's a stream that runs through the course and crosses some fairways. - As a short hitter, I found at least one of the holes unfair. Even from the gold tees with a good tee shot (for me), I was unable to get the ball far enough to have a second shot over water. I had to layup, which ruined any chance at a par. - Fairways are in poor shape because of water-logged grass, often torn up by cart tires. It has been dry in Central Oregon so it wasn't because of rain. Poor drainage, poor irrigation. Plus, where it's not soaked, there's a lot of bare spots. - The bunkers. Yeah, that red 'sand' looks cool but it sucks for golf. It's like playing out of pebbly, wet dirt - and there are a lot of bunkers on this course. It's very difficult to get your club under the ball with a normal sand shot stroke. After a few times trying to hit out, I went with a regular 'tight lie' stroke and didn't attempt to hit into the sand in front of the ball. They should go with regular sand. - Greens are fair. I noticed a few spots of weed growth and bare spots but not too many. Other than that, balls rolled true. - Cart paths are OK but they too suffer from poor water control. - Carts are good. No frills - just a well-functioning electric cart. - Pace of play was poor during my round with no marshall activity keeping people moving. - No beverage cart during a hot summer round. Given that there are no tee box water coolers now, this is unforgivable. A course marshall did come by late in the round and ask if anyone needed water. I had water with me in the cart but the guy I was playing with was walking and didn't carry water. He was suffering by that time. All-in-all, Aspen Lakes is OK but at the price, it should be better, much better.

My husband golfs and I'm just there for the views so here is mine :). Oh and the rating came from him. He said 10 years ago it was a five-star golf course. He said the greens are just not being taken care of like they used to be and the fairways or mediocre or mediocre.

Trust me, this wedding venue, Aspen Lakes Lodge, is one-of-a-kind wonderful! Kelly Cyress is simply amazing. Every question answered, every detail attended to. The day-of was truly beyond our expectations. We were dealing with possible rain and had set up for outdoors. Kelly assured us that they could move it indoors in just a few minutes time. Fortunately we were able to be outside and showcase the spectacular views even on a cloudy day. The food?? Let me tell you. Excellent!! Salmon, steak, chicken, potatoes - do not skip the macaroni and cheese!!! The food was hot, delicious and plentiful. Very easy banquet. The bride's room is a big plus!! We came early in the day and had a lovely place for the bride and her attendants to get ready. Also, the groom and his groomsmen had a wide open, private room with balcony to ready themselves. We're very grateful to Kelly, her staff and Chef for a superb experience! Highly recommend!

Worse condition I've seen this course in years. Play it every summer and wow - not sure what happened.

From the grounds (which are exquisite) to the service (unbeatable) - it was truly a weekend to remember. We rented out the entire property and all the cabins. Rachel and her family were there every step of the way- no detail was too small. On the night of our rehearsal, my dress broke. Her husband scavenged the property for 30 minutes to find the safety pins and rig me back together! Our friends never stop talking about this adult camp. It was such a fun way to spend time together. The property is stunning and our pictures look like they're from a magazine. They have great relationships with all the vendors which really helped smooth out the planning. And they always let you come back to say hi and revisit the property. I couldn't recommend a place more. We will certainly be back to visit and rent the cabins for our anniversaries!

The rooms are large and some have cozy fireplaces. The Great Room had a large fireplace, along with a grand piano. The dinning room and lounge area was warm and relaxing also with a fireplace. Great for conversing and enjoying a delicious meal. They have 3 lodges and 3 cabins. The Main Lodge is immaculate. Speaking of meals, this place has amazing food! Catered to the brides's liking, the appetizers, lunch and dinner was an assortment of fresh green salads, roasted seasonal veggies, crab cakes, wild rice, roasted lamb and chicken skewers, roasted duck, grilled trout, pickled cucumbers and to top if off, continental breakfast was served every morning. This place is a foodie's heaven. If I lived near by, I would eat here once a week just for the homestyle cooked food! Just when we thought the afternoon reception was over, just after 6 PM, they served us the leftovers! I NEVER had this type of experience before! They also cater to special diets, for people like me with sensitive tummies. I felt spoiled and blessed to have had such unbelievable meals catered just for us! I feel so grateful to have this once in a lifetime experience and recommend House on Metolius to all those lovers of the great outdoors. First, our group of three was informed that a mandatory 20% large group service charge would be added, which felt surprising considering the level of service we ultimately received. After waiting over an hour for our food, we had to go find someone ourselves to ask about it because no staff members were walking around checking on tables or updating guests. It turned out our order seemed to have been missed entirely, and we were then told it would take another 15 minutes. We also noticed multiple groups around us waiting around the same amount of time for food, so this clearly was not an isolated issue. While we understand it was Memorial Day weekend and likely busy, we would hope the winery would anticipate and staff appropriately for holiday traffic. When the food finally arrived, the pizza was undercooked and lacked flavor, and the chicken Caesar salad tasted very basic and prepackaged. For the prices, the food quality and service fell well below expectations. The setting and atmosphere itself are beautiful, but the service and food quality need significant improvement before we would consider returning or recommending this winery to others. We felt it was important to share our experience in hopes that this feedback leads to meaningful improvements for future guests.

This is not a course you're likely to get bored on. - greens are well maintained, roll true and are 'readable'. - fairways in good condition despite the course only having been open for a week following the winter shutdown. - plenty of bunkers but they're not too punitive and the sand is good. - not a lot of water; the trees and bunkers protect the course. - even with a cool day, the beverage cart was in operation and stopped by several times - nice practice facilities including a practice bunker Overall, I very much like Glaze Meadow. It's not too difficult for high handicappers and probably offers a good challenge to scratch golfers (like I'd know). One of the biggest challenges for every visitor is finding your way back to the highway! While they have signs on the way in directing you to the golf course, there are none on the way out and it isn't a straight shot. Good luck!
