Beautiful place at elevation 3200 feet, so the ball flies that little bit further. As guests of local residents, we were treated very well and welcomed to all activities including golf. It's a good big track, hosts professional tournaments, well maintained Gated community built round and midst an 18 hole course of lovely design, views to the 'sisters' and other spectacular mountains is tastefully done. Greens are in poor condition! Many dead spots that disrupt your putting. Why no GPS on the carts? You are paying a premium price for golf here so you should expect a premium experience. The volcanic cinder in the sand traps looks great in photos but will destroy your clubs so don't hit out of them. The course has a great layout and some nice long challenging holes but you can't help but feel that you have been cheated due to the things that I've listed above. read more

Here's the deal, this was the first time playing this course for a few of us. The course itself (i.e. layout, views, etc) amazing. Couple things. 1-Tee boxes need some work, I.E. hole 13 ‍ being in the center of that tee box was like being on top of Mt Everest. 2- The GREENS..IDK what to say, diseased/dead spots/bumpy just bad. The fact you guys are charging $100 green fees for that?! Those aren't even greens. I understand you lost water or whatever but that's not worth $100 on any day of the week and that's why you get 1 star. If those 2 things were even average this course is a solid 4 stars. read more

Outside of the dryer weeks in July/August, this is truly one of the "best bang for your buck" courses in the Northwest, let alone Central Oregon. Central Oregon boasts a lot of very good to great golf courses, many with spectacular views of the nearby Cascades. While Aspen Lakes has the views, it falls down a bit on quality. - Prices are in line with what many around here charge: $90 with cart during peak season/time. - Decent practice facilities. - They use a starter, which is good. - Interesting layout. You'll be challenged in many ways - bunkers, water, narrow tree-lined fairways, pin placement. Watch out for hidden water - there's a stream that runs through the course and crosses some fairways. - As a short hitter, I found at least one of the holes unfair. Even from the gold tees with a good tee shot (for me), I was unable to get the ball far enough to have a second shot over water. I had to layup, which ruined any chance at a par. - Fairways are in poor shape because of water-logged grass, often torn up by cart tires. It has been dry in Central Oregon so it wasn't because of rain. Poor drainage, poor irrigation. Plus, where it's not soaked, there's a lot of bare spots. - The bunkers. Yeah, that red 'sand' looks cool but it sucks for golf. It's like playing out of pebbly, wet dirt - and there are a lot of bunkers on this course. It's very difficult to get your club under the ball with a normal sand shot stroke. After a few times trying to hit out, I went with a regular 'tight lie' stroke and didn't attempt to hit into the sand in front of the ball. They should go with regular sand. - Greens are fair. I noticed a few spots of weed growth and bare spots but not too many. Other than that, balls rolled true. - Cart paths are OK but they too suffer from poor water control. - Carts are good. No frills - just a well-functioning electric cart. - Pace of play was poor during my round with no marshall activity keeping people moving. - No beverage cart during a hot summer round. Given that there are no tee box water coolers now, this is unforgivable. A course marshall did come by late in the round and ask if anyone needed water. I had water with me in the cart but the guy I was playing with was walking and didn't carry water. He was suffering by that time. All-in-all, Aspen Lakes is OK but at the price, it should be better, much better. read more

Trust me, this wedding venue, Aspen Lakes Lodge, is one-of-a-kind wonderful! Kelly Cyress is simply amazing. Every question answered, every detail attended to. The day-of was truly beyond our expectations. We were dealing with possible rain and had set up for outdoors. Kelly assured us that they could move it indoors in just a few minutes time. Fortunately we were able to be outside and showcase the spectacular views even on a cloudy day. The food?? Let me tell you. Excellent!! Salmon, steak, chicken, potatoes - do not skip the macaroni and cheese!!! The food was hot, delicious and plentiful. Very easy banquet. The bride's room is a big plus!! We came early in the day and had a lovely place for the bride and her attendants to get ready. Also, the groom and his groomsmen had a wide open, private room with balcony to ready themselves. The red sand is a signature aspect for Aspen Lakes it's actually pretty easy to get out of so don't be discouraged. I would highly recommend this course to a golfer looking to challenge themselves. We are from So.Cal, so we have high standards for restaurants. This was the best Rueben sandwich I've ever had. It was Buffalo Pastrami with homemade sauerkraut made of purple cabbage, on marble rye bread. WOW! Seriously the best EVER. The Elk hamburger was very lean and tasty. We ordered it BBQ style with onions. A little dry, but the BBQ sauce made up for it, so very good overall. Also, our waitress personally made our blood mary at the bar, which was like a salad. She was so sweet. Great beer selection. Excellent service. Beautiful views of the golf course and Central Oregon. read more

This course is half dead! No one said anything to us when we checked in. The carts are old and in terrible shape. The one we used had a tire that was so bald it had a blowout on the 3rd hole. They need to reduce the green fees until they can get the course in better shape. read more

I played this course with a group of guys. The course staff set us up with everything we needed for the final day of our makeshift tournament. The staff was great. The marshal didn't bother us at all, and waived each time we saw him (which was a lot, since the group 2 in front of us was 40min behind). Pace of play is important, especially with lightening storms not too far off. The Course it's self is very nice. It had rained the night before, and even for about 10 minutes during play. The morning dew lasted until 11:00, but the greens and fairways played tight and smooth. The carts include GPS which is about the only yardage marker you get, so if you don't get a power cart, make sure you have a range finder. The bunkers are not sand, but crushed lava rock, and play very packed. read more

Played Aspen on Friday (8/16), was expecting and prepared for warm/hot weather - what I got was a thunderstorm and, for about 15 minutes, a downpour. I can't blame Aspen for the weather, but can fault them on how the course handles water. With just 15 minutes of rain on the first hole, the course remained soggy the entire 18 holes. This is the fifth or sixth time I have played Aspen. I like the course, I like that the carts have GPS, and I even like the red sand bunkers and traps. But I think they are a little overly proud of the course green fee wise. We had six players, and where Black Butte gave us a deal, Aspen charged us full bore - not sure if we will play there again next year. O, the bar staff was excellent and the food (only had lunch) was great. read more

I played here this weekend with a group for a Bachelor Party. Our group went from 16 down to 9, and then down to just 7 guys showing up at the course for our tee times. On a Saturday morning. Most courses would not be okay with this or would try to charge us for the missed tee times, but that was not the case. The group in the pro shop all gave us a warm welcome upon arrival and congratulated the man of the hour. I was trying to purchase some shoe laces last minute that I noticed needed be replaced. While they didn't have any in stock, one of the guys in the clubhouse went into the back and came back out with an extra one he had from his own bag. They also gave a small gift to each of the guys in the group. In addition to this, we were met multiple times on the course by the player assistant's and drink cart girl congratulating the soon to be groom and thanking us for coming out there to plan. Even though we only ended up putting 7 guys on the course and not filling up the times we booked, they treated us like they would have if we booked a corporate event for the morning. I've been golfing for the last 16 years or so and even worked at a course for a couple years when I was in school, and I can honestly say the service we got here was some of the best I've seen or experienced. I'm not one to spend time writing a review for a golf course, but after this I thought it was a must. The course was also in great shape and a lot of fun! Great views of the mountains and the red sand bunkers made for just a beautiful course. If this review gets to anyone at the course, thank you for really showing our group a great time. Not crazy about restaurant as we tried to order three hot dogs at the turn but apparently the cook forgot to make them after a bit of a wait. $20.70 for hot dogs and no one in restaurant but he forgot. I had golfed this course last year in our new annual family trip and it was amazing. This year however, huge disappointment. Rates were higher and there were 3 holes specifically that were super over watered and the middle of the fairways looked like soggy rugs rolled up and so sloppy. For the cost I would expect not having any issues when I hit the ball in the middle of the fairway. And another hole I was walking up to chip into the green and literally had to hit out of a sloshy mess tight off the green in the fairway, very disappointed trip this year read more

A group of us had dinner on Saturday night at Brand 33. First time we had been there. The restaurant is in a lovely lodge at Aspen Lake golf course just outside of Sisters. The lodge is set at the top of the hill and it is really nice with lots of natural wood and lovely cast bronze art. They had live music on Sat evening and it was very nice......not too Loud. We ordered off the special three course valentines menu. All of the food was good and well prepared. We all thought the deserts were the best .....the cobbler was particularly good! The portions were very large and more than any of us could finish. read more

Very disappointed in what could have been a nice trip to the links. We visited the course during peak season, which made 18 holes and a cart $92 a person. Despite this high price, the fairways were completely soaked/muddy. While there is very little that the course could do about these conditions from a groundskeeping standpoint, any other golf course would have temporarily lowered their rates due to less than favorable conditions. Aside from the woman who sold drinks from a cart, the staff's attitude and behavior towards customers was deplorable as well. The Marshall was extremely rude and condescending, and treated customers with very little respect. I would recommend sparing the frustration and playing a round somewhere else. read more

Had a Friday tee time. Went early for lunch, it was good but a bit over priced. The golf was awful. It took over 5 hours to complete the round. There was a marshall on the course but he did nothing to speed up play. The course is nice but over priced and certainly not worth having to wait to hit every shot. More like Aspen Lames. This is quite possibly the worst golf experience I have ever had in my life. We went to the first tee and we're told that my friend's collar shirt was "not suitable" for course play. They proceeded to give him a baggy collar shirt that made him look like a caddy and made him miserable for the rest of his round. The course itself is beautiful. Greens were well manicured and the red lava rock bunkers are beautiful. The part I didn't like is the golf boards and the customer service my friends and I received during our round. The golf boards cost $25 and there was no warning that the boards might run out of battery. When we address this to Kristen at the front desk she mentioned that it should work for 18 holes and that we were to blame because we played around too much on the front 9. I advise going elsewhere. There are cheaper courses in the Sisters/Bend area with better service read more

Played Aspen Lakes with a group of 8 players for a mini-tournament. What I found was a course that is lacking in every way. This is not a $75 dollar course, or $92 with cart. This course price should be no higher than $59. Here are my reasons: 1. First thing we were approached by some staff member to tell us that outside alcohol is not allowed on the course while loading our carts with gear at our car. I'm guessing he assume that our lunch bags had alcohol in them? Does any golf course allow outside alcohol? None that I know of. I'm still in the school that you are innocent until proven guilty. 2. It was a 90 degree day and they had only two water stations on the whole course. I was told you can "purchase" water from the cart when it comes around. 3. The ball washers were in terrible condition. They lacked at times, no water, no lid or no towel and sometimes all of the above. 4. Tee boxes and greens were not kept up at all. Some greens had large patches of dead area and the tee box on hole #12 looked like it had been thatched to death with divots everywhere. 5. The course marshal's came around almost every other hole. Never seen so many on a course and as we were about to finish hole #16 he told us that the tee-box on #17 was empty and we needed to pick it up. Are you kidding me? After playing bunched up with slow play all day and never being off pace this was the icing on the cake. Needless to say, I will not bring back my friends to play this course when have our next mini-tournament until changes are made. read more

I give Aspen Lakes 2 stars. It used to be a very nice golf course, but because of lack of money(??), it has become a very average track. I mean the views and the design remains beautiful but how it's taken care of is below average. If you pay $85 per person you expect to get better. Bunkers are hard, no "sand" (better lift your ball and chip it off the rough!), fairways are surprisingly soft at spots and the greens are not in good shape at all. Aspen Lakes is still a treat if you havent played it before, but for a golfer like myself (played 5-6 times there), I will choose another course which this area is full of. For $40 (incl cart) I would probably return. For $85, no. read more
