I like this course. Despite what some might say, it's not a links course. But it is a fine example of good course design employing little elevation change. Greens are somewhat fast but consistent. There are plenty of places to employ your green-reading skills and it pays to pitch your ball to the correct location. Fairways are similarly is great condition. I saw few places where you'd have a bad lie with a good fairway shot. The second cut of rough is really rough here - it's basically a lava field. Do not miss the fairway. The first cut, however, is very playable. In fact, I think I'd prefer the first cut over the fairway proper for short pitches and chips. I understand this is a winter phenomenon (playable rough) and when spring sets in and the grass grows out, you won't want to be in the first cut, either. Update: no, the course condition in the summer (last round was over 100 degrees) is still great and the first cut is a fine place to land your ball. Bunkers in good shape with good sand. If you know how to execute a bunker shot, you'll have little problem here. As with any bunker, if it has rained or snow has melted, the sand plays different. There are some fairway bunkers. Water is not a big factor at Juniper. There are a couple of holes on the back nine where it comes into play but even then, easy to avoid. No water carries here. Good driving range, practice green and practice short game area. Carts are electric, are in good condition and feature retractable side curtains during winter. read more

The course itself is the pinnacle of mediocrity, but the pro shop somehow managed to make the experience even worse. From the moment we arrived, the staff were rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in professionalism. As if that weren't enough, our tee time was delayed because the employees had apparently forgotten they were hosting a tournament that day. Forgetting about your own tournament is an impressive level of incompetence. Ultimately, this was one of the worst-run pro shops I've ever encountered. The course isn't remotely worth the price, and dealing with the staff certainly isn't worth the frustration. There are plenty of better places to spend your money--do yourself a favor and play somewhere else. read more

I WILL NEVER PLAY HERE AGAIN. If I could give this 0 stars I would, I came here with some of my buddy's we are 17 and use the youth on course benefit in Oregon, we called two weeks prior to make our t-time and they said using youth on course was fine. We showed up 40 minutes early to check in after our 3.5 our drive from Portland and they were being very rude, unprofessional and unhelpful, they were being very difficult over our YOC and almost made us pay the 50$ youth Rate, if they don't want kids that love to play golf and want to try new courses they shouldn't allow YOC, finally to top it off when we went to t off they had a shotgun scramble tournament that the pro shop guys seem to be oblivious of, they then told us we were being rude and it was a privilege to play at their mediocre public course and we needed to stop being so disrespectful. We then had to wait an extra 30 minutes to even tee off. We were all so fed up we left after 9 I will never recommend this course to anyone. read more

This golf course is very nice, and desert-like. Good Pro Shop staff and good cart staff. It's a beautiful long course and carts are recommended . In the restaurant , the sorry beer selection continues to haunt this place. Added to that is the Extremely Loud and vocal blond waitress who insists on bellowing across the dining room, at customers and other staff. Very disturbing so we arranged to pack our meal out of there. We only came here because of a Groupon, but the $25 for $15 is no bargain. At all. First of all, a veggie burger that is no more than a compressed Bean Patty served on a bun with a slice of lettuce, tomato, and onion should not run $13. Unless you're someplace nice, which this is not. Directly across Highway 97, same exit, is The Greens at Redmond. This is a delicious 18-hole course, the back nine is stunning and challenging. Good walking course, although carts are available . The course is almost always green. Very good front desk at this golf course, and great beer selections and prices at their bar. What an unbelievable little slice of Golf heaven! In addition Michael in the pro shop being one of the nicest people and "golf guys" I have ever met, the rental clubs were decent, the cart was clean and the golf course itself was unbelievable. Tee boxes are manicured, fairways are pristine and the greens were phenomenal. Every detail has been addressed. The course is challenging with several blind shots to fairways and greens that will test your ability to play target golf. I loved every shot here and the views are amazing. read more

Excellent course. Nice changes in elevation and good obstacles to challenge you. Also, they have golf cart motorcycles which is pretty rad. Only reason for a 4/5 is the older fellow who releases you to start at home #1 is quite rude. Gave us a hard time for being late despite us calling ahead and getting it okay'd with the pro shop. I could understand if we were teeing off when it was busy but we had a middle of the day tee time and the course was not at all busy. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Many unfulfilled promises by staff that lead to a terrible experience. The website says only three greens were closed. There were many more than that. Most tee boxes were mats. This might be understandable, however, the websites winter price was more than $30 cheaper than what we were charged. We called the day before and we were told that the course would be empty and we could play with two tee times as a group. When we went to golf we were reprimanded, told we had never been to a golf course before and that we had knowingly broken many rules but didn't want to admit it. When we asked the clubhouse why there were discrepancies in the information we received, we were told by the power hungry worker that we were lying and the staff would have never approved this. Keep in mind our pace of play was under 15 mins per hole. This place and its employees are incredibly condescending for being a sub par, public course. Nobody I know will be returning. Would rather golf any course within 100 miles read more

I've played Juniper for 24 years, starting at the old course in 1999. I've always liked it. The new, current, course can be epic. I'm older and I ride a cart. My buddy is younger and walks, with an electric push cart. Checking in I told the guy, "I'm riding and my buddy is walking." I paid extra for the cart for me, and we teed off on time. At the turn, we stopped for fluids. (beer only and two bottled waters available in the clubhouse. Come on, golfers need fluids; stock up and make some money!) As we're buying the only two bottles of water, the same goateed guy raises his voice and asks my buddy in an accusatory tone, if he's riding in the cart with me. We say no, he has an electric push cart. He replies that he "thought he saw" us in the same cart. This all in a loud tone, in public. But he couldn't have seen us, and didn't see us, or even think he saw us in the same cart. I'm wearing red, the only one out there at that time dressed that way. We were clearly visible on the tee from the shop, we teed off on time, and there were gaps in front of us and behind us. He obviously felt he could suspend belief in his own observations because he sees golfers in carts regularly. So he implied an accusation of dishonesty on our part based on his lie (that he saw us riding together) in order to justify his unfounded previous accusation of criminal theft of the golf cart rental. This is insulting and unacceptable. read more

I always loved this course and staff. But... it's been a few years since I played here. The dark haired lady that was in the pro shop in the afternoon needs to not be in public service. I knew the restaurant closed at four so at 3:55 I ran off the 9th green to go buy a water and a beer to finish my walk. She said "we close at four". So I said "it's 3:58". This lady looked at me with a little snicker and said "I know, we're closed." Then play got backed up after a few holes so we walked up to talk to the guys ahead of us. Guess what... They were talking about her too. They also had a terrible experience with this lady. If you don't like people then why are you in the service industry? read more

5 star golf course. Played in September 2020, conditions really dont get any better. Plush fairways and greens in excellent condition. Definitely not an easy course, the front especially was tricky. The back either I settled in or it got a little easier, probably a little of both. Definitely rewards some shot making and also gives you plenty of holes to unleash the driver. Anyone that complains about this course should give up golf. read more

Had a lovely lunch at the view restaurant. It overlooks the the course and the mountains. The food is casual, but well done and filling. The flatbread is essentially a pizza menu. The crust was light and delicious. I had a very good Greek omelet. The food was fresh, the service was excellent and the patio was cozy and elegant. Pet friendly too and welcoming for kids. Staff was attentive, upbeat and kind. All weekend they have extended breakfast hours and three dollar vodka drinks. This is a great place! read more

I've played most of the courses in Bend and Juniper consistently competes with the elite courses in that market. Pronghorn is a great course, but I'll continue to play Juniper and enjoy amazing greens and similar conditions for a fraction of the price. read more

Played Juniper yesterday (7/16). Very nice,well maintained golf course situated among the junipers and lava rock formations so prevalent in the eastern part of the state. All holes a pretty much straight away, not anything that one might call a dog leg. Fairways are pretty wide with just a suggestion of green rough. I mention "green" rough, because a badly hit and errant shot can easily wind up in those afore mentioned junipers and lava rocks and be totally unplayable. There is one small lake, or maybe it should be called a large pond, on the course that only comes into play on two holes (water never crosses the fairways , just borders the fairway). We used a cart but mainly because of the heat (99 when we finished), but the course is "walk" friendly. Juniper has it's share of sand in the form of both bunkers and traps, but the sand is excellent and very playable (unlike the Portland rain drenched traps I am used to). To me the greatest "hazard" presented by the course is the greens! They are in great shape, mind you, but are fast, slick and very difficult to read - so spend your practice time on the putting green if you really want to score. I don't want to end this without saying something about the staff. They are friendly, courteous and very helpful. I am returning to the area again in both August and September and look forward to playing Juniper again. read more

This review is only for the restaurant: Two stars for the view from the restaurant. I've been here only once and made the decision to try it as we had a buy one get one free entree coupon. When entering the building it looked very nice and for a Sunday evening it was quite inside. We picked a table close to a window and I ordered a RPM beer and a cobb salad, my boyfriend ordered a club. We waited for what seemed like 30 mins for our food and when it arrived at our table there was a big black string or hair on one of my hard boiled eggs,I returned that salad and they brought me another one to which the waitress gushed "your in luck we just made some fresh chicken." It is my belief that all ingredients in my salad should be fresh, I don't want chicken that was cooked and then reheated, unacceptable. Apparently we had two servers as a second gal came up to our table and asked if there was an issue with my meal to which I told her yes and they had already brought my second out. When i went to use the rest room I was additionally grossed out and confused by the stuff they have on the counter. It seemed like they also had a mini library in there also. All over not a good experience. I'm not sure I'll give this place a second try. read more

It's a great course, always in good shape, and a good value compared to other courses in the area. It's located a whopping 2 minute drive from downtown and you can't beat the location. My brother brought us here and boy oh boy was it great! We ate at the View, which is open to the public, and I had the best Kailua pulled pork sandwich I have ever eaten, which includes Hawaii. Was my first time golfing here. Horrible service. Rude (old) lady on the beverage cart. Very rude golf pro giving lessons to someone else. Kicked off the practice green because we were chipping on and didn't know there was a separate green for that that had no holes to putt into after chipping some on. The practice green was not in a very convenient place a long way from the first hole. Very narrow course. lost a lot of balls. not very scenic. much better courses in Central Oregon to go to. I played this course today and it was one of the nicest golf courses I have played in awhile. The fairways were in such great condition, the ball just sits on top of the grass. The greens were in great shape, very few ball marks for a public course. I found every hole interesting, long par 5's, substantial par 4's and some challenging par 3's. The pro shop staff could not have been nicer. I look forward to my next round at Juniper Golf. read more

This is ONLY a review for the View Restaurant. Have been there a couple of times this year.......first I got a hamburger that was cooked to death! I chalked it up to not wanting undercooked beef. I went there for lunch yesterday and ordered a Caesar Salad and the grilled chicken was almost inedible. It too had been cooked way too long. The wait both times was in excess of 30 minutes. Don't know if they have gotten a new chef because this place used to have good food. Too bad.....nice view of the golf course. Will not be returning. read more
