Who knew that Christmas and Metallica could make such a fun combination, but there you have it. So much to look at you could be entertained for many rounds of beverages. We arrived for an early dinner on a weekday so things were pretty calm; good given the size of our party. I can't say it was the best old fashioned I'd ever had, but our hummus, fries mushrooms, and babaganoush were all tasty. For dinner I opted for a gyro (came with fries) and cleared my plate. It's easy to maybe walk by this townie bar style spot. But it really worked out. The Mediterranean flavors are spot on, and their blends include the simple sandwiches packing good flavor. I was torn but left my choice up to the bartender recommendation for the main, augmented with falafel. I was not disappointed. If you get stuck just flip a coin and it'll probably work out. If anything the worst part is the shopping center where the nearby stores throw you for a moment before you commit to the eclectic variety bar. Their interior decorations are a ridiculous blend of whatever holiday they have left up, and a death or 70-80s heavy metal bar. It is whimsically metal? Hard to even compare it, it works. Aspen Lodge touts itself as having the best Philly Cheesesteak in a 666 mile radius. From the small bite I had, I would agree. They also stand firm that the gyro is something you'll love- couldn't agree more! Their Happy Hour menu lists liters of cocktails for $15- so why not?! Server was so kind and attentive. Lots of people kept flowing in as the afternoon went on. It's all so amazing, random, and ridiculous! Glad it was mentioned in the Westword 100 Bars of Denver. I'm giving two stars because the ambiance is hilarious, and the food and drinks are really good (get the philly cheesesteak). The service was awful. Like really, really bad. I personally had to go up to the bar several times to check on drink orders for the table and the staff, while nice, continually forgot about our table. And they weren't all that busy.... Also it was sweltering inside. I have no idea why they decided to crank the heat up but holy god - I was sweating the entire time. I really don't care to go back. Ever. read more

I was skeptical from the parking lot, but once inside, I was curious and enchanted. With a mix of Iron Maiden, giant lava lamps, and Christmas decor, Aspen Lodge transports and transforms. Touting the best Philly in a 666-mile radius, I had to order it. It is packed with seasoned meat, grilled onions, and gooey cheese--delicious. With a side of crisp fries, it was a satisfying and filling meal. Happy Hour runs daily from 12-5 pm with liter (yes, liter) cocktails for $15. Lifting the beer mug is a workout, but it's worth it. Our server was attentive and friendly. I will make the trek to Westminster again for this snowy lodge experience--way less hassle than the backups on I-70 to get to the mountains. read more

Thanks for being open Memorial Day!! This is a small spot, so might get super crowded during more normal hours rather than midday. And it's tucked away and you will miss it from the road. Opened with Baba ghanoush that had a wonderful smoky flavor and Bosnian ajvar. Both were delicious and served w/ plenty of bread. As mentioned both the gyro and cheese steak were delicious. But honestly next time (there will be one!!!) I may just work my way through the appetizers, or at least the Mediterranean portion. read more

I honestly don't understand how this place has such high ratings--it feels like they must be paying for reviews. From the moment we walked in, the experience was off. We stood there waiting to be seated, only to be stared at like we were clueless for not seating ourselves. After finally ordering, we waited 40 minutes for food that was nearly inedible. The burger was undercooked and pink in the middle--not in a gourmet way, just improperly cooked. It was also completely flavorless, which is impressive in the worst way. I've made better burgers at home with zero seasoning. The gyro was the opposite--overcooked, dry, and equally bland. The only decent item was the fries, but even they were drowned in salt to the point of being hard to enjoy. To top it off, they charged us 75 cents for a generic bottle of Member's Mark water instead of just giving us a glass of tap water. The entire dining area was chaotic--people constantly speed-walking past our table and shaking everything every few seconds. By the time I got home, I was so worried about how undercooked the food was that I forced myself to throw up. Without exaggeration, this was the worst restaurant experience I've had in Colorado. If you're looking to spend $40 on food you can't eat, this is the place. read more

I met a friend here and had not looked into this place prior to arriving. As I walked in my first thought was "why did he bring me here?". Well, by the time our appetizer arrived, the fried calamari, my doubts had evaporated. Sure the atmosphere is eclectic and unique with its hair metal/skiing/Christmas themes, but once I tasted the food, I stopped focusing on the decor and was all in on the food. Being Colorado, I wasn't expecting to be floored by the Calamari. It was perfect! Then again, being Colorado, I was not expecting to be floored by the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. We are from out of state and needed to find dinner in a pinch at 9pm on a Sunday. Took a chance because this place was close to our hotel. The strip mall and Iron Maiden/Christmas decor threw us off but we were happily surprised. From the moment we came in, the staff was so kind and attentive. The food was great. Cheesesteak was very good and they have a wide variety of menu options. The owner is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He'll be in the kitchen but also out to check on guests to make sure everything is going well. The decorations are great. They are Christmas themed year round with a heavy dose of cats, lava lamps, and Iron Maiden. One of the other really cool things was the bar and how it was built. I've been here five times for the cheesesteak because of all the online buzz. But three out of five have been horrible. If the owner cooks, it's great. If anyone else does, it's disgusting and filled with tons of oil onions goo and over cooked meat. I would love to recommend, but so inconsistent. Amazing food! Appetizer of eggplant with tomato on olive oil was so good I kept eating it after I had finished the bread. I had the Gyro for dinner. It was tasty and plentiful. We were so stuffed after dinner that we couldn't make it to dessert. The fries were crispy and so good. The Service was attentive and very warm and inviting. The ambiance is unparalleled. I'm so excited to bring my boyfriend here next time (got take out for my first visit) to enjoy some drinks and food at the bar. What a vibe!! The interior is a Christmas lovers dream and feels so warm, cozy, and inviting. The woman at the bar and Mesut, the owner, were incredibly kind and helpful. You can tell Mesut really cares about his bar&grill and the place is just COOL. An Iron Maiden concert was playing at the bar tv, eclectic decor fills the space, vast array of liquors to choose from, and a menu with something for everyone! The regular menu is mostly classic American bar food along with some mediterranean influences and options but their breakfast menu looks just as good :) Love how big the appetizers menu is. I was reaaallly craving fried mushrooms and those were delicious. Also got dolmas, fried ravioli, and veggie spring rolls. Wouldn't get the spring rolls again but i think that was just a bad choice. Dolmas + Ravioli were addictive. Location is in a strip mall style building with lots of parking and they're open much later than a lot of places around here which I can appreciate. We came here because of the yelp rating and wanted a good burger...IT WAS A FANTASTIC BURGER. they stick to the basics and it works. Basic cheese burger cooked to perfection on a fantastic bun with just the right amount of accompany. The fries were seasoned great and cooked very well. With all the excess pomp and circumstance that you get everywhere else, they just make you a burger that tastes fantastic and makes you feel great. Stumbled on this place after most places closed early because of snow, and I'm so glad we did! I had no idea there was an all year Christmas-themed bar by me, and I love it. The decor is so fun, with a sprinkle of some Iron Maiden. Service was great. My partner is a vegetarian, and they had a decent selection to choose from for that. I wish I could remember what it was called, but the chef brought us out a free vegetarian lentil starter and it was so freaking good! We also got the Italian Sliders, Vegetable Spring Rolls, and Breaded Zucchini. The portions were huge, so we were stuffed by the end of this! My only thing is I would like the zucchini with ranch instead of tzatziki, but that's just a personal preference. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the Turkish offerings! read more

Quite possibly one of the coolest "dive bars " I've EVER been into so far. Pulling into the tiny "shopping center" the bar is in, I started to question the recommendation that I received. The parking lot is a bit dark and unless you were looking for this place it'd be hard to tell it was there. That is we're the doubt ended. And it ended abruptly. The vibe of this place was clearly evident as soon as I saw the doors, windows, and facade. It screamed "Come inside". I did... Inside was absolutely the chillest and hippest bar simultaneously. The decorations show just how in touch with life the owner of it must be! Ski decorations, rock posters, Christmas decorations, Nat Geo magazines stacked neatly at the bar, every liquor known to man kind behind the bar, a mini stage, and logs used as foot rests at the bar. The owner, bartender, & cook (All the same person) kept every person happy and somehow still had plenty of time to show how personable he is. His food is AMAZING. It's a VERY unique menu that fuses Turkish/mediterranean PERFECTLY with American classics. The Mesut burger is currently the best burger I've ever had! It's unbelievable that a burger that unique could also be so amazing! Pair it with an Efes Pilsner (Turkish) and you can't go wrong. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Atmosphere is fun and unique. You could tell the owner is just a genuinely nice guy who wants to build relationships with the local community. He greeted my wife and I and our 17 month old kid. Had some good conversation with him about parenthood. Food was awesome, we loved the Bosnian Ajvar, the Philly cheesesteak, gyro plate and Baklava. So glad he talked us into trying one to go, hands down best Baklava ive had. Loved the Philly too, I've been to the top ten in Philly back in 2021 and I enjoyed this one more. Girlfriend and I wanted to try a new place, I opened Yelp and found this place. Good overall reviews so we decided to give it a shot. The place is in a smaller shopping strip and is pretty easy to miss - just make sure you don't. We walked in and were amazed at the inside. Christmas decor, mountain lodge vibes, Iron Maiden stuff, it's pretty neat inside and it adds to the atmosphere and vibe that this place gives. Dude at the front told us to sit wherever we wanted, he dropped off two menus and we began to look. Lots of drinks, and a select amount of food. I opted for the Cheesesteak and she went for the Mediterranean Wrap. For our drinks, I got a Jack and Coke, and she got some kind of drink that I forget the name of. The food took a few minutes to get to us but it's worth it. It's fresh. My Cheesesteak was excellent. It came out hot and cheesy, it was fantastic. The meat and everything else was cooked to perfection. The bun was nice and soft and was just so delicious. The fries were great too. Her wrap was really good as well, from the 2 bites I took I knew that I wanted it the next time we come in - because there will be a next time. The owner came by a few times and made sure we were taken care of, great guy. We picked some kind of Turkish dessert, multiple layers, chocolate sauce, and layers of cake. It was all too good. This place is one of those weird places that's just a gem that we need to visit and take care of so we can ensure that it continues to shine.
