As you can see, I've been coming to this coffee shop for a long time, through a number of different owners. They recently were acquired by a new owner, and the difference is marked. They have refreshed the various menus, which was badly needed. They have vastly improved their baked goods selection, very welcome change. And while it's somewhat secondary, they have upgraded their logo and merchandise, bringing it into the 21st century. I look forward to many more years of getting coffee (and more) here! read more

The service was so friendly - they close at noon on Sundays but they let us eat inside while they cleaned up. Our cappuccino and cortado were delicious. Had a bagel and English Muffin both with sausage/egg//cheese- excellent. Pastries were yummy too. read more

First off, their door is a hand injury waiting to happen. It seems like an easy fix, but apparently, it hasn't been a priority. They don't offer decaf coffee, and when I ordered regular coffee, they filled the cup so full it spilled all over my hand and pants. It might be a local favorite, but for me, it was definitely a letdown. read more

By far, the best cold brew I have ever had. I have been all over the US and used to work at the most popular coffee shop in Moab- Aspen Street's cold brew has the most flavorful cold brew. This was my first time having their food, the Turkey Pesto Wrap, and I am so happy I did. The turkey pesto wrap is so refreshing and flavorful, with the perfect ratio of ingredients. So many places get the ratio wrong for aesthetic reasons or to lower the cost of more expensive ingredients. I'll be coming back very soon! read more

I never reviewed this coffee shop previously, but I will say major improvements with the new ownership. They have excellent espresso drinks and for the price they certainly don't skip on the amount of espresso in the drinks. My absolute favorite is the Cuban. It is a delicious brown sugar breve with loads of caffeine. The empanadas are small and a bit overpriced, but very flavorful and authentic. The chimichurri is the move for dipping sauce. The pastries are pretty good. It's never very busy and it's pretty quiet. It does take them a while to move along between customers and make drinks. I don't mind the extra five or 10 minutes. Compare compared to other coffee shop though because I'm not in a hurry. It's definitely a good place for a meeting or studying because it's not a lot of hustle and bustle. I certainly recommend. Service is always friendly and inside is always clean. read more

Came in this morning for a quick coffee and breakfast fix to start our road trip. Upon the entering the establishment my friends and I were pleasantly greeted by an exceptional atmosphere and customer service. Ordered my go to latte and it was pretty good not the best though. Burritos are exceptional though. My friend prefers smoothies and the barista was kind enough to entertain all of her customizations. Great stop! #GoFruita Hope I can come back one day! The girl did not know how to use an espresso machine. She partially filled the portafilter with coffee grounds and did not pack it firmly. The result was weak drip coffee with no flavor. read more

Walking in and getting a "good morning welcome " greeting is a big key for me when walking into a coffee shop and they nailed it ! I ordered the caramel delight , and I gotta say this is probably the best I've had in town ! I'm not from here so getting to taste other coffee shops product is just what I like to do . In the morning I was looking for a coffee place along with a quick bite. I searched near me and decided to have coffee from Aspen Street Coffee. Aspen Street Coffee is an amazing coffee shop with very nice and friendly people. They have a nice menu with different coffee options along with a quick bites as well as alcohol drink mixes and pastries. After browsing through the menu I ordered Cuban Coffee and Bagel Sandwich. The service was nice and I got my coffee and bagel in 5-10 minutes. The coffee was hot and delicious. Loved the freshly brewed coffee. The bagel was also delicious and it was warmed up. Overall: Aspen is a great choice if you are looking for a leisurely coffee stop in town. The good: Great ambiance, outdoor seating, free WiFi, and most importantly, great coffee. The staff is friendly and the food is good (not mind-blowing). It's a simple place with a simple menu, and sometimes that's okay. The not-so-good: A little expensive for what it is. I would be giving Aspen coffee in Fruita a five star rating except for ONE glaring problem. They are never open!! The shop has excellent coffee and delicious sandwiches but, I swear, every single time my wife or I or friends or family go there they seem to be closed. If Aspen coffee doesn't. want to run a restaurant with regular business hours, they should close up shop and make room for someone who does. read more

Walked in from our campground, a couple of mornings on our visit to Fruita. Coffee was good , water for the dogs, friendly patrons outside. We had a blueberry muffin one day and snickerdoodle cookie the next day with our coffee. Both were good. Love the atmosphere of downtown Fruita. read more

So when your traveling it is great to find a little local place that's better than the corporate place your used to. It makes the trip more memorable and fun. It's an adventure and Aspen Street Coffee did just that. The coffee was amazing and the breakfast sandwich was delicious! Really nice little coffee shop! I've stopped in half a dozen times during mountain biking trips over the years and the coffee is good (got a Mexican chocolate mocha today!) and they have really tasty breakfast sandwiches. Excellent place to get a morning coffee, latte, chai, etc. It has a great seating area. This place just instantly feels like the hang out you have been looking for. Comfortable seating - indoors and out. Haven't tried the pastries or sandwiches yet. But I see a lot of them being eaten. I think if you are in Fruita, this is a nice coffee spot! read more

Here a cute-n-homey coffee shop in downtown Fruita, Colorado, right next to the best bike shop in town (maybe the only bike shop in town, actually!). They don't have a lot of offerings outside of coffee but what they do, they do rather well. I was particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the place as well as the friendly, accomodating staff (I had a special "ice" request on a hot day and the girl behind the counter was super eager to please). Would go back when I am in town although admittedly, that is not going to be anytime soon (I live in Chicago so the sheer mileage gets in the way of that). read more

My wife and I wanted to have a glass of wine before dinner. This was on a Saturday evening. The sign at the door indicated that they would not be closing for another hour and 10 minutes. I've visited this cute little coffee shop several times and have never been disappointed and I do prefer it over the rest of the coffee stops I've tried in town so far, even over the popular chain coffee in town. I usually get the lattes. Refreshing after my instant coffee at the campsite, a real spoiler! read more

History

Established in 2003.

Aspen Street Coffee is located in Fruita's old First National Bank building, built in 1900. We still have the original tin ceiling and vault! The building has also been home to a candy shop, a hardware store, and the Fruita Times, before becoming a coffee shop in 1998. We purchased the shop in 2008, because we love coffee. And, yes, we do have a ghost.

Meet the Business Owner: Tom H.

I moved to Fruita in 2006 for the lifestyle. I grew up on a bike and I love coffee, so owning a coffee shop in a mountain bike mecca was the kind of life I wanted after living in Chicago for many years. I love the local people and enjoy being a part of their daily life - meeting the people who come here from all over the world is just a bonus! I hope you come check us out - there is a whole lot of delicious happenin here!

It's like they were just taken out of the fridge and plopped down on a flat griddle with no seasoning at all. not like the picture. Yes, we told them and they did not even offer to re cook our dinner, warm it up or give us a discount of any kind. I only ate some of it because I was SO hungry. My dinner came out and 10 minutes later, my wife's dinner came out. Honestly, the salad bar was the best part, although it was not very fresh either, but better than the main course. Also notice how all of my sides were eaten but the steak is still on the plate... yeah she didn't check to see how our food was until we flagged her down like sailors in distress. The waitress informed me that they cut all their ribeyes that thin and if I got another ribeye, it would be 1/4 inch thick also, so I didn't order another. My friend's filet was blue rare (raw but seared on edges) but ordered medium rare and the waitress didn't offer to cook it more but instead blamed it on having a new cook. Took Kirsten 10 mins to get me a menu. When Kirsten finally found the time to come by our table to have me order a replacement, my friend finished her dinner already. I got the cowboy chili with cornbread. The chili was lukewarm if I am being generous- they could've just microwaved it like wtf how do you serve lukewarm/room temp chili if you have a microwave??? The cornbread was dry and crumbled into a million pieces. The service was the worst and least attentive I've had in maybe ten years probably my entire life. It was almost like we were in a comedy skit except it wasn't funny. I will never ever ever go back. Texas Roadhouse is way better which is just sad. I did notice an employee eating a big beautiful steak while she closed out her shift, I asked what cut and she said a ribeye. So I guess they cut the 1-1.5 inch thick cuts for employee steaks and customers get ribeyes a 1/4 inch thin cooked into shoe leather. Pro tip: go to Strayhorn. Rumor is cattleman's doesn't even use local beef anymore, they just cosplay ranch life so you get to eat a low quality steak with the comforting smell of cow poo.

I assume this reflects price creep and the reality that the market will not support a $20 counter-service breakfast (especially one that prompts for pre-tipping) when a comparable $12 option is available across the street at a full-service restaurant. Combined with long wait times and lukewarm food, caused by either amateurs in the kitchen or lackadaisical food delivery by the counter-staff, Cafe Sol has regretfully moved to my "occasionally OK" list.

The greens added a little kick, the onions perfectly sliced; almost paper thin. The green chiles cut into little morsels add that Smokey bit we crave when we think of fiesta style foods. There were bits of queso fresco crumbled over the whole thing, giving that tang. Even the brown rice was treated with the utmost respect and has the most amazing flavor and hearty texture! Lastly, I'm sure someone back there made that citrus crema from scratch and I basically licked that little ramekin clean! Thank you, thank you! A stop anyone in Junction will not regret!
