Walking in, I fell in love with the adorable, retro chic without being too pretentious vibe. The barista was so friendly that I felt like I made a new best friend upon arriving. And I was the first person there. I made a point to get there right after they opened because I was on a road trip, and I needed to get back on the road quickly. So I ordered a quick toast and a Cortado. The coffee came out quickly and was good, and then after 15-ish minutes, I was still waiting for the food, I thought maybe they forgot the order, so I went up to my new bestie and asked them about it, and apparently someone who was supposed to be there to make the food wasn't there yet. That was extremely frustrating. I wish they had warned me in advance that there might be a wait for the food because I would've opted not to order it, but at that point I was committed since going elsewhere would just tack on more time. 20 mins after that, I finally got my toast. Yes, 35 minutes to deliver a toasted piece of bread with some toppings and a small bed of lettuce with blueberries and seeds. At that point, I was bummed cause now my whole day was delayed. Fortunately, the toast was yum, and I know this place is beloved, so I think they just need to make sure they have someone reliable taking care of the food preparation on Sunday mornings. A friend likes their teas. Their sandwiches are OK and I've never had issues with their service. So, why the low rating? Their pour over and batch coffee are insanely acidic. I could not finish either cup. Why? What happened? Are they not using the wonderful Cat and Cloud coffee in production? I've made coffee at home using Cat and Cloud beans bought at Copeka and really liked it. Are they using the same grind for the espresso drinks and the pour over and batch drinks? The very fine grind needed to make a good espresso drink is too fine for a batch or pour over coffee and makes the drink acidic. Are their baristas poorly trained on pour over and batch brewing? I've seen several reviews praising their pour over and batch coffee, but they date from 2019. Has something changed in the interim? It's hard to tell, but I think I'll keep looking for a coffee shop more to my liking.

When we first walked in the hostess greeted my friends like they were family. You could tell that she knew the kids and that the kids knew her so they went there often enough. She was so nice, so energetic, and very kind. They sat us in a corner booth, which seems like it was their normal booth so that was nice! She already knew what the kids like to drink and said she would grab it right away. They also offer wooden toys for the kids to play with throughout their meal. And you can take the toy home if the kid really wants them! I thought that was really sweet and a great way to keep the kids entertained while the adults could talk! I got the chocolate chip pancakes with hashbrowns and bacon. The pancakes were very fluffy and loaded with chocolate chips! Exactly what I want :-) the potatoes were crispy and delicious!
