I just got a cold brew and it was good! Ambience is nice and the staff was very friendly

I was driving through Grand Junction and stopped at this coffee shop hoping to grab a quick coffee for the road. We didn't see any signs on the door, and I was planning to place an order and wait outside with my dog. I'm not going to tie my dog to a tree. We were inside for literally a few seconds before we were immediately told dogs weren't allowed and that we needed to leave. We weren't even given a chance to respond, explain that I was just trying to order, or even be asked whether my dogs were service animals. I completely understand having a no-dog policy. That's not the issue. The issue was how unnecessarily abrupt and unwelcoming the interaction was. There are much better ways to communicate a policy to a customer who just walked in and clearly wasn't aware of it. Instead, we were basically dismissed before we could even say anything. So we left and took our business elsewhere. Grand Junction has already been a weird stop for us, and after this experience, we'll definitely be skipping this place in the future. read more

We stopped in here yesterday afternoon, for a quick pick me up/caffeine hit. It's very open and spacious, with a clean line, minimalistic vibe. There are plenty of tables, which are very nicely spaced out, with a number of people with laptops/working from some of those tables. The barista was super friendly, took our order, and made the drinks right away. I went with a matcha, which was really good/had great depth of flavor. My husband had a chai, which he noted was really good. Glad we stopped in! read more

I went to this coffeehouse after reading all the stellar Yelp reviews. Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience. I thought the drink and the service were fine. It's a cavernous, very clean space packed with people. Cute neighborhood with street parking. Just okay...definitely going to explore and find myself a better coffee experience. read more

This is great place to get work done and meet someone for a chat but the quality of drinks has gone down! I used to love their matcha but recently it's been gross. Like, it doesn't taste good at all, even when I get a syrup in it! I cannot taste the flavor in this drink either. Unfortunately, after this time, I won't be coming back because it's just been a let down every time I order. read more

Only 3 pastries left so had to go elsewhere. My ginger chai was very tasty but wish I had had been offered a dirty since I mentioned the need for caffeine. I consider myself to be a coffee snob some days and I think Kiln is the best coffee shop in Grand Junction. They're located on Main St in DTGJ and their shop hours allow me to grab a cup to go before I start my day or run by before picking up the niece from school. I travel to GJ each year to hang with the family and work remotely while taking care of the niece while her parents are away. Kiln is a regular spot for me to hit up at least 3-4 times during my 7-10 day visit each year. My go-to is a cortado and I like that they offer macadamia nut milk which gives the coffee a creamy nutty touch to it. They usually have a seasonal special which was a lavender latte last time I was there. The staff is always super friendly and crafts the very best drinks in the Grand Valley. If you're driving through or a local, Kiln is definitely worth the visit (or 3 visits). And while you're there, you might as well walk downtown and support the other local businesses. read more

5-star-rated spot?!? You know I have to check it out, and I'm gonna keep it real with you guys. When I see places with 5 solid Yelp stars, I come in with a higher expectation. I still try to remind myself nothing is perfect and that everyone has good days and off days. But even with all my attempts to be rational, the moment I took a sip of my dark chocolate Mocha with almond syrup, I was converted to "Kiln-ian." I felt a kinship to those working on their laptops or chatting away, connected because we all knew the next sip of our liquid journey was going to make us pause, even if it is just in our minds. I wanted to say, "Nah, that place is for the avocado-eating, mud-drinking generation," but these guys are more like coffee scientists with style. My self-righteous "knock you a peg down" moment won't arise here because this place knows its coffee. read more

Cold honey lavender latte with oat milk!!!!! Lemon zucchini muffins. Highly recommended. On a hot day (100F+) like today, it is so so refreshing. Cool and spacious interior to keep everyone safe. Cute coffee shop, good decent coffee. Came for quick coffee run while traveling. It was 8am in the morning and not too busy at all, I was able to hop in and out within 10 mins for my flat white with oat milk. Simple layout and simple menu which makes it even easier. Their espresso notes are smoky, dark chocolate and nutty. Not fruity but with a hint of sweetness aftertaste. I'd come again if I happen to pass by this place. They do follow COVID19 guidelines which makes me feel safe to get coffee from them. Sanitizer is provided in the cashier front and masks required before entry. read more

Came for the reviews and aesthetic while staying in downtown for a night and I'm so glad I did ! My friend got the current special coffee flavor "churro" and I got the matcha and they both hit the spot ! There's some street parking in front of the shop, but right around the corner there are some metered spots if you can't grab a free one. Clean restrooms, lots of tables, and free wifi. Lots of people working at the coffee shop without it being overly noisy. Don't forget about Kiln when you're out and about downtown. Or if you're not in town, make the trip! Kiln has some of the best coffee this side of the state. I recommend an iced vanilla oatley. Due to COVID, Kiln has come up with a great special distancing/no contact layout. I recommend paying with a card, and don't forget your "punch" card. It's still good. Kiln seems to have a ton of regulars! Stopped by for a vanilla latte after having breakfast next door at Dream Cafe. I claimed the couch in the back of the cafe to take a phone call. There were a bunch of people working on their laptops at the tables. Others stopped by on their run or with their kids. Lovely community center and great place to hang out. I need to try the pastries and more of the coffee drinks. And the baristas are super friendly! It's one of the places that made me fall in love with Grand Junction. read more
