I went to this coffeehouse after reading all the stellar Yelp reviews. Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience. I thought the drink and the service were fine. It's a cavernous, very clean space packed with people. Cute neighborhood with street parking. Just okay...definitely going to explore and find myself a better coffee experience.

I consider myself to be a coffee snob some days and I think Kiln is the best coffee shop in Grand Junction. They're located on Main St in DTGJ and their shop hours allow me to grab a cup to go before I start my day or run by before picking up the niece from school. I travel to GJ each year to hang with the family and work remotely while taking care of the niece while her parents are away. Kiln is a regular spot for me to hit up at least 3-4 times during my 7-10 day visit each year. My go-to is a cortado and I like that they offer macadamia nut milk which gives the coffee a creamy nutty touch to it. They usually have a seasonal special which was a lavender latte last time I was there. The staff is always super friendly and crafts the very best drinks in the Grand Valley. If you're driving through or a local, Kiln is definitely worth the visit (or 3 visits). And while you're there, you might as well walk downtown and support the other local businesses.

Cold honey lavender latte with oat milk!!!!! Lemon zucchini muffins. Highly recommended. On a hot day (100F+) like today, it is so so refreshing. Cool and spacious interior to keep everyone safe. Staff were wearing masks. Customers come in with mask but quickly remove them to enjoy the delicious coffee. Come on in!!!

Service was basic. They didn't seem welcoming at all. They did have a cute hangout area for kids and games to play

We had coffee and a kiwi bakery treat. It was very good. The atmosphere was pleasant and nearby people friendly. I want to return.

Nice vibe in there, very clean, friendly staff. I just got a black coffee which was good but unremarkable.

Good stuff! Looks fancy enough for formal wear. Helpful staff, and friendly faces. They spoiled me with their "Mac Milkadamia"!!

Honestly, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this spot. The coffee itself is undeniable…read more They are brewing Cat and Cloud beans here, which is a seriously respected roaster, and you can really taste that baseline quality in the cup. My absolute go-to is their breve latte with an extra shot. It's fire. The half-and-half is always steamed to a perfect microfoam, never scorched, and that extra pull of espresso balances the whole rich profile beautifully. It's the kind of drink that makes you want to sit back and just enjoy a quiet morning. Truth be told, the quiet morning part is where things get a little complicated. The atmosphere leans pretty far to the left, which is completely fine. People are free to do their thing. But sometimes that overly expressive vibe spills over into my personal bubble when I just want to enjoy a cup of joe. On my most recent visit, I got stuck sitting near a couple, and the woman was literally reading aloud from a therapy book. She was lecturing her male companion on the exact appropriate way he needs to talk to her in their relationship. I'm all for healthy communication. Listening to a live couples counseling session at nine in the morning is not exactly pleasant, though. It's a funky place, and they definitely cater to a specific crowd, which fits their eclectic, community-driven aesthetic perfectly. If you're into that kind of high-energy sharing, you'll probably rate this place five stars without blinking. I'll definitely keep coming back because that breve latte is just too good to pass up. I just might start bringing a good pair of headphones. Sometimes a guy just wants to drink his coffee in peace.

I'm sure on any other day this would've been a five-star experience so I'm gonna chalk it up to…read morebeing a fluke. However, it was a very unsavory fluke. Walking in, I fell in love with the adorable, retro chic without being too pretentious vibe. The barista was so friendly that I felt like I made a new best friend upon arriving. And I was the first person there. I made a point to get there right after they opened because I was on a road trip, and I needed to get back on the road quickly. So I ordered a quick toast and a Cortado. The coffee came out quickly and was good, and then after 15-ish minutes, I was still waiting for the food, I thought maybe they forgot the order, so I went up to my new bestie and asked them about it, and apparently someone who was supposed to be there to make the food wasn't there yet. That was extremely frustrating. I wish they had warned me in advance that there might be a wait for the food because I would've opted not to order it, but at that point I was committed since going elsewhere would just tack on more time. 20 mins after that, I finally got my toast. Yes, 35 minutes to deliver a toasted piece of bread with some toppings and a small bed of lettuce with blueberries and seeds. At that point, I was bummed cause now my whole day was delayed. Fortunately, the toast was yum, and I know this place is beloved, so I think they just need to make sure they have someone reliable taking care of the food preparation on Sunday mornings. No more Saturday night party people!
