I went to Aspira in search of my new esthetician for my waxing needs and I am truly so grateful to have found Nadia. At first I was a little nervous and hesitant to get a brazilian by someone new (I had been going to another esthetician for years who's no longer working), but I realized that being open to change and new people can sometimes be a true blessing. About the spa: I enjoyed the warm, relaxing ambiance of the spa. Everyone was friendly and making an appointment was seamless. They confirm the appointments 24 hours in advance, which I love. The spa itself was very clean and offered a good environment for any of their services. About Nadia: From the moment I met her I knew that she was going to be great! I found her to be very friendly, and professional; she just had a way that made you feel comfortable. She gives you the option to undress with her in or out of the room. I always undress with the esthetician in the room, I mean she's going to see it anyways! But having the choice was nice... I hadn't been waxed in quite some time, so she had her work cut out for her...and I'm going to be flat out honest and say she was by far THE BEST I had ever experienced. SERIOUSLY! So you ask, what made her so good? Bottom line: SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING! I have had instances where I thought my vagina was going to get ripped off because the esthetician would just slap some wax and agressively rip it off, leaving me bright red and burning!!! but not here....she was quick, she was thorough...I have extremely sensitive skin and after being waxed by Nadia, I wasn't even red!!! Our appointment went by so fast and I couldn't believe how flawless and painless her work was....not a single hair left behind or a tear shed. I'm very picky about the places and people I choose for my beauty needs. For me quality outweighs everything and I always seek out the best...I am confident that I have found the best in Nadia. Aspira's facials definitely need some recognition here. I came to see Lydia (the owner) on a Yelp deal. She's had me hooked ever since. Lydia is not only a highly competent esthetician, she is a delight to be around. She made a chemical peel a surprisingly pleasant experience for me. She is extremely personable and just a genuine spirit. Lydia is results-oriented- she will take a look at your skin and determine what it is you need to have done. Don't expect this to be a visit that is simply about making you feel and smell good, it's about working on improving your skin. Don't get me wrong, the place is a clean and relaxing environment, but as they say.. "no pain, no gain" right? I have had consistently bad acne since the second grade and it has carried over into adulthood. Dermatologists and doctors have prescribed me a variety of regimens - I've tried it all. It just never worked for me. I came to Lydia a little desperate and not very optimistic at all. Luckily, she is very thorough and her rates are reasonable. I have had 4 treatments now and can visibly see the difference- my skin is clearer and smoother than before. I have more sessions to go and although Lydia jokingly reminds me, she's "not a miracle worker," I am excited and grateful to see progress. read more

I don't think a few comments on this review does justice for Nadia at Aspira. Too good to be true!!!! Ok, so waxing is not a fun activity you look forward to. Yes, I look forward to my waxing day with Nadia Baroni.(specially my legs and brazilian needs!!). I have had waxing done on my leg once before I had laser treatment (only twice, so never got to finish the cycle). I HAD to turn to laser before I met Nadia at Aspira, because the leg waxing hurt sooooo much! I thought my skin were getting ripped off. lol seriously... For brazillians, before I moved to the bay area, I always looked for 'the best' in that area. I have gotten brazillians in CT, MA, WI, South Korea and Taiwan (yes, very random locations!). So far, the cleanest, calming environment of all was in South Korean waxing salong (VERY expensive), but it still HURT like h.... Now Nadia!! OMG. The cleanest, Most Calming, Most comfortable and relaxing (yes, you can relax during waxing) PLUS A LOT LESS PAIN than any other places on earth, IS WITH NADIA BARONI....!!! I could not stress more. I can now get my legs waxed with no problem. In fact, Nadia keeps my mind off of it so I never had to figure out when it would end. It always ends before I know it. I promise you. I can now get my brazillians without fear. If Nadia gets to a point where she know it will pinch and make me scream, than she will tell you to "take a deap breath". My underarm? I don't even recall her doing it and I'm already out the door after all three together at once!!!!! Oh, did I mention Nadia WILL remember almost every detail you talked with her about your life, your whatever!! No matter how long it took you to go back, she will treat you like you have been her best friend for the longest time. I have never seen a sweeter person, not just as an esthetician, but as one person full of knowledge, smile and kind heart. Yes, any waxing will hurt and pinch and hurt a little at least. i just got back home from another visit to Aspira and felt the need to write them a 5-star yelp review. (note: i've only been here to have my eyebrows waxed so i can't judge their brazilian or spa services) i originally found Aspira while perusing yelp for nearby salons for waxing and i'm so glad i did :) the building is randomly located in a mostly residential area but once you get inside it is clean, peaceful, and very relaxing. i usually don't make an appointment ahead of time i just drop-in to get waxed but i would definitely recommend calling in advance because others might not be so lucky. tatiana does an AMAZING job with my eyebrows. to her credit, she is basically working with an overrun jungle because i see her once and am so happy with the results that i don't go anywhere else to touch-up until i have time to see her again (my last visit was a horrifying 3 months ago!) not only does she make me feel completely welcome (and hides her look of shock when she sees my eyebrows), she asks me calmly what type of shape i want (to which i generally reply in a near panic, "PLEASE, just fix them!"), she offers advice on what i should do to maintain them, and she is always pleasant during the entire waxing process. None of the generic in-and-out waxing: wax the entire top of eyebrow, wax under eyebrow, trim, k bye. but a real waxing experience: survey eyebrows, trim a little to see the basic shape, determine most appropriate arch to frame eyes, wax top of eyebrow, stand back, analyze, pluck a few hairs, turn head to see profile of both sides, wax under eyebrow, stand back, compare eyebrows, wax, trim, brush, add some color, pluck stray hairs, trim, apply soothing gel, etc. in a nutshell, she takes her time and is meticulous in her craft. plus, the price is very reasonable considering she is a lifesaver when i need to look presentable and not like chewbaca from star wars =/ bottom line: awesome eyebrows by tatiana!! read more

Well, thank you Yelpers! You did not steer me wrong in the LEAST on this one. I made an appointment with Nadia for my brazilian and it was undoubtedly the most painless waxing I've ever had. I didn't think I'd find anyone better than my waxer in San Diego, but I was wrong. Nadia is even better, which is saying a lot! She uses nice wax and waxes small areas at a time so that it's MUCH LESS painful (SERIOUSLY - barely any pain compared to most waxings!). She also takes into consideration the direction of the hair growth (which should be standard, but some people don't), and didn't leave one hair behind (no pun intended)! She was so sweet and funny - totally put my mind and nerves at ease. The whole place is great, too. Nice decor with warm and inviting surroundings. And a parking lot to boot! They have other services there like facials, massage, etc. which I will surely check out some time. I will never go elsewhere as long as I live in the Bay Area! 5 stars for sure! read more

Lydia's chemical peel saved my face! I know there have been a lot of good reviews on Aspira, but I would really like to write one too because I feel so grateful for Lydia's help. I have had acne problems for a long time (since I was a teenager, and now I am 30 years old) and have been desperately seeking for solutions. I have tried numerous facials, products, and/or dermatologists, but unfortunately nothing really helped. In fact, some of the treatments even made my face worse, so you could imagine how bad I felt. I came across the great reviews of Aspira, and again I think I would like to give it a try as I always did. I am so glad I made the move, and here is the story. First the appointment process was easy. I was hoping to see Lydia ASAP and made the call on a Friday, and they actually fit me in for an initial consultation (free) the next day! The office is very cute and clean, and provides a very peaceful atmosphere. The staff is friendly too and never gets tired of making reminder calls. Lydia arrived on time. She was super friendly, patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. She looked over my face thoroughly and asked me about the history and my skin care routine. I told her that I would like to try pregnant in the next 2-3 months, and she was willing to do her best to cure my face in this time frame. And since I probably have to do it more frequently given the tighter frame, she was willing to give every treatment at a much lower rate - $75/treatment! And thus we set up the next appointment for a real treatment. On my treatment day, Lydia arrived on time again. She looked over my face and decided that chemical peel was just not enough - she could not just let me leave with a still bad face after the treatment. Therefore, she did a lot more than she promised. She did a thorough clean and extraction of my face. Well, the process was never pleasant, but she really spent time with me cleaning EVERY single pore, followed by a chemical peel. I am so thankful that she did this - my face looked A LOT cleaner after the extraction. Those congestions and monster cysts have been killing me for a long time, and her magic has made them gone! I used to have many facials from different dermatologists/salons, but they only did what they are charged to do - unfortunately kind of minimal - and sometimes when the treatment was done, I saw no difference. But Lydia was different. You can tell she really wants you to have beautiful skin, and she works with you to achieve this goal. She also made honest and good product recommendations. She looked at my original skin products and told me I could keep using those that were safe. I took her advice and bought a cleanser and toner, but both of them are super affordable - one is like $16 and the other $22. What a great deal compared to those pricey "medical" lines of products. Now my face is still peeling badly (this is the fourth day after my first treatment from Lydia), but I can already see the improvement. I can see how much better the underlying new skin is - it seems a lot cleaner and the texture is so much better. I am having my second check and treatment with Lydia in about one week, and I just can't wait! read more

Finally had the chance to go here after scheduling, canceling, then rescheduling an appointment. It's been said here several times, but really, Nadia....she's da bomb!!! She was ready to go as soon as I got through the door for my appointment this afternoon. I have been a client of Linda Price's for over 6 years now. She is AMAZING! She is the first person I ever let wax my eyebrows throughout high school and now in college, and I will never let another person touch them again! She always knows how I like them done and also works wonders with my problematic skin. I have extremely oily skin and started getting facials by Linda shortly after I started getting my eyebrows done by her. My skin has gotten so much better, and Aspira also has a great selection of face washes, moisturizers, and topical treatments for acne. I love this place and have been going there for over a year. I must say my experience is always fantastic from the moment I walk in to the moment I leave. It is like a family experience when I go in there... the receptionist and I have the same birthday so she always greets me with a smile and hug, and when I see Nadia we can always catch up on life as she distracts me while getting a Brazilian. Aside from that, I am native San Franciscan, have lived in Los Angeles, Italy, and Spain... and have been waxed in all of those locations. Nadia is by far the most professional and experienced person I have been to. She is quick and painless (well as painless as a Brazilian can be). The point I am getting at is that Nadia makes me feel comfortable. There is nothing worse than an awkward waxing experience where the person is careful and quiet while staring at your most private area. Also, I am Italian and Mexican... so everyone can do the math on the the type and texture of the hair I have. She gets it all! There are no patches, no left overs, and it takes a while for it to grow back. Furthermore, if someone is unhappy with the work that she has done or sees a spot that she may have missed, it is up to the client to speak up and ask to fix it. She always hands me a mirror and asks me if I am completely satisfied with my eyebrows and bikini before I get off the table. The answer is always YES! This place gets my absolute seal of approval. Nnot so impressed. The place is good, but the service was strictly ok. I signed up for a service that was $125. I went there and found that I could not do that as I had a party to attend before my face would recover. So my service was changed to another one. When paying the bill I realize that the service was not changed but upgraded to one that costs $175 and nobody thought of getting it approved by me. Good that I had the Yelp 50% coupon .. so I would have paid $62 .. now I was seeing a bill of ~$85. Seeing my surprised face .. the beautician bought it down to $70. 1star was because they did warn me about not getting the original treatment. My face looks ok . nothing special that says I got a $175 treatment (;-))... Actually, I have a nice red pimple on my cheek for the past 3-4 days. The facial also started a good 30 mins after the scheduled time. So overall no great shakes. Will not be going there again. Thanks to Yelp special I did not pay full price. read more
