He would not face me and had is staff tell me that they were done with me. First off him and his staff push the Baloon sinoplasty that is their money maker. Beyond the customer service concerns, the office's processes are remarkably disorganized, inefficient, and outdated. There is no patient portal for communication, and orders and results are often handled through handwritten documents and mail. In an era where most medical practices have embraced streamlined digital communication, this office appears stuck decades in the past. My initial treatment experience was mishandled from the start due to incorrectly processed paperwork, resulting in unnecessary trips to the office. For me, that means a 20-mile commute that can take anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. After receiving injections, I experienced a severe adverse reaction. Despite the circumstances, I received no assistance in recovering the money I had paid for medication that was still sitting unused in their refrigerator. Over the course of my treatment, I have undergone extensive testing through this office. Most recently, I was instructed to schedule an appointment simply to pick up a testing kit. I arrived for the appointment only to discover the kit wasn't ready. I had to drive home, return later, and then drive home again--wasting hours of my time. When I finally went to complete the testing, I discovered that critical test tubes were missing from the kit they had provided. Communication has been equally disappointing. I requested a letter explaining my symptoms and medical condition as it relates to eating while traveling. I never received a callback regarding the request. When I finally called to follow up and simply stated my name, I was abruptly told, "She is not writing your letter!" The dismissive and unprofessional nature of that response was shocking. As a fellow healthcare provider, I was appalled by how the request was handled. As a patient, I expected at least a basic level of courtesy and respect. Ironically, while my own concerns often went unanswered, I have spent extended periods sitting in the office listening to staff discuss their personal family frustrations for 20 minutes or more without hesitation. The final straw came when I needed a results booklet that was only slightly larger than a magazine. Despite the significant distance I travel to this office and the fact that mailing it would have been a simple solution, I was told I had to make yet another trip to pick it up. With the amount of time, fuel, and inconvenience this office has already cost me, this felt like one more example of a complete lack of consideration for patients. Healthcare is stressful enough without having to navigate disorganization, poor communication, repeated administrative errors, and discourteous treatment. Dr Mike was very prompt to call me with the results and what I should do next. I am grateful for his attention to detail and concern for my health. When I arrived, I expected an inordinately long wait (the norm for doctor's offices, I've found), yet the doctor admitted me only a few minutes after I completed the online consent forms. I'm absurdly neurotic and iatrophobic, so the minimal wait time helped quell my anxiety. The doctor I saw was friendly and ingratiating. When I requested a few moments to meditate and relax prior to getting my blood pressure checked, he was patient and reassuring. My blood pressure and pulse were still ridiculously high (I should be dead) but comparatively low by my standards. I attribute that lower-than-average reading to his bedside manner. I feared that I had contracted COVID, but he suggested that my symptoms were more in line with the flu. Nevertheless, he swabbed my nostrils for both viruses (an unpleasant procedure, I assure you) and later determined that I had neither. I had what he termed an "unspecified flu-like respiratory virus" that would likely clear up in a few days. That was a relief! If you live near Helotes and find yourself in need of non-emergency medical attention, then I would highly recommend visiting this FastMed location. The staff were friendly, the place was immaculate, and the quality of service was among the best I've ever experienced at a medical facility.
