I had trouble getting treatment because of COVID, and could just manage to use the hot tub at the local gym for its soothing relief. I finally got a new doctor at UCLA and got recommended to Movement for Life Physical Therapy. This was the first and least invasive step for treatment, and has proved a great success. Matt first prescribed a series of exercises to strengthen the muscles around the area, and this helped increase flexibility and movement. When the exercises got painful, he realigned my hip socket and amazingly, the electric shock like pain I had in my leg was gone. This was about two weeks ago, and I am happy to say that the pain has not returned, so I am a happy camper. Every one I have encountered there has been upbeat, and helpful! It is a spacious, modern facility, and there is always a lot of parking. Movement for Life is located near the SLO airport, and is convenient to Route 227, a main thoroughfare into or out of town. I mention this because my previous PT was at a facility in the middle of SLO, where you had to wait to park, then dart for Highway 101 in the hopes of avoiding rush hour.

The scheduler told me it would be a private appointment that was set aside just for me and it was. The physical therapist was ready for me and our appointment started right when I arrived. He talked to me about my experience and goals, examined me and took me to the tread mill to video me running(with my phone). Then he was able to show me what was causing my pain. I now have something to work on and can run more confidently knowing why I am having pain and that with work I can get better. Definitely recommend.

After decades of martial arts practice, including 8 years of hard core Brazilian Ju Jitsu, my 70 year old body has needed lots of physical therapy for many hurting joints and strains. Recently plagued with a very tight right side QL muscle in my back, I went to several therapists who tried various leg exercises and spinal manipulations which only worsened the condition. During the first two minutes with Dr. Mullin she got to the source of the issue, with my hip alignment being 1 inch out. Neither of the previous DPT's had even checked this. This can become expensive we're not careful. In addition., at times the courses we must go through can be uncommonly boring. Well., Michelle PT, and owner of Spirit Winds Physical Therapy is the owner/manager of Flex CEU's, continuing education site for physical therapist. The site has some good courses available at a very reasonable cost., and I found it by accident when I was looking at accepted courses for the California board of physical therapy. So this is a shout out to a service, that Spirit Winds is offering to the Physical Therapy community that assists us in maintaining our professional status.
