This was surprising to me as I have been receiving dental care every 6 months for my whole life and haven't had a cavity in 10+ years. My prior dentist was in my hometown and someone I had been going to since childhood and was very familiar with my teeth. Because we had a good relationship with this dentist, my mom even asked them what they thought and they warned that I should get a second opinion. However, I was scared of having cavities, so went ahead with the fillings on Dr. Kearns recommendation ($400+ out of pocket for a college student). I was also told to buy an expensive specialty toothpaste in the office that retailed for half the price on Amazon. Over the next several months, I had horrific, constant dental pain where the fillings were. I couldn't eat anything on one side of my mouth for months. After about two weeks of pain, I went in for a revision, which did not help. Only now 6 months later I am starting to be able to eat on the other side of my mouth. I should note that I had no dental pain in this region before despite the diagnosis of three cavities. I should have switched after this, but had scheduled a 6 month cleaning immediately after my first appointment which crept up on me, so decided to just go in and do the cleaning. When I arrived, the front desk told me I had a balance of $170 that they were about to send to collections. I had not received a single text, email, or physical mail notifying me of my balance. I was able to pay this balance, but knowing that they were happy to send this to collections and potentially impact my credit score without any notification is a disgrace. The cleaning itself was fine, but my hygienist told me Dr. Kearns was very busy and when she came to check me out she barely spoke a word to me, only rattling off dental jargon to the hygienist. I will not be returning to Intown Dental Center. I have never had anxiety related to the dentist until now. The poor bedside manner, weaponization of authority to overprescribe procedures/sell you things you don't need, shoddy fillings, and lack of billing transparency all made this a horrible experience.

The staff confirmed multiple times that if I paid this full amount upfront, I would not have any additional expenses. They even had me sign a document stating that my total patient responsibility was $440. Despite this, the front desk repeatedly gave me inconsistent billing information during my visit. Still, I trusted their final calculation and paid the amount they said was the complete balance. Months later, I received an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from my insurance company showing that they paid more than expected to the dental office. Yet, five months after my visit, I was suddenly contacted and told that I now owe an additional $245.21. This is incredibly frustrating and feels extremely unprofessional. Being told one amount, paying in full, signing documentation, and then being asked for more money months later is unacceptable. I am very disappointed with the service and the lack of transparency from this office.

When I first made my appointment I did it all online. It was so easy. I was immediately sent forms to fill out. After filling them out, I received a follow up call to help verify my insurance. Before I arrived, I was sent emails with parking instructions and texts with forms to fill out, etc. everything was super smooth! When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile, and the wait wasn't long. As I already mentioned, Jazmine was amazing and so informative. I did not feel judged at all about my teeth. Once we were done, the dentist arrived and she was amazing as well. She showed me my X-rays and then we looked in my mouth for more specifics. She also gave great advice and they were very up front about what my insurance would cover and wouldn't so I could come up with the next plan of action

I have never had to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes, Dr. Morton's office has always been as accommodating as possible in the rare cases when I've needed to change an appointment around, and they have always treated me great. The hygienists, and I have met many over the years, have always been personable and make the entire process as enjoyable as it could be. I have also gotten some great dental advice from some of them as well. Dr. Morton himself is very matter-of-fact and to the point, exactly how I would want any doctor to be. I have never been pressured to purchase any additional services, but Dr. Morton has recommended a few procedures over the years, always providing excellent explanations as to why he recommends them. I have had one procedure done by Dr. Morton, dental sealants for a few teeth. It was done right in his office, I was in and out in about an hour, and the cost was very reasonable. There are many dentists closer to where I live, but I continue to choose Dr. Morton because I know I am going to get a high level of care, I know I am going to treated extremely well by everyone in his office, and over the years they have established a high level of trust with me. NOTE: Dr. Morton now shares a practice with his wife, Dr. Lisa Brodsky. While I do not know her as well as Dr. Morton, she has handled my exams a few times during my last several check ups. My limited experience with Dr. Brodsky has been very positive as well.

I was then told to follow this routine at home and return in six weeks to assess any changes--no cleaning was performed at that first visit. At the follow-up appointment, I was seen by a different dental hygienist whose overly cheerful and rehearsed demeanor felt disingenuous. While she wasn't overtly rude, the interaction felt hollow and uncomfortable, which added to my unease. During the cleaning, she made a snide comment about my dental habits and then completed the rest of the procedure without much communication. I also noticed an unpleasant personal odor, which was surprising and concerning given the setting. Hygiene and professionalism are especially important in a dental care environment, and this contributed to a sense that standards were not being met. Unfortunately, during this visit, I believe the hygienist injured my gums multiple times due to a careless approach in handling sharp instruments. One area in particular has remained inflamed and possibly infected ever since. There was no review or inspection with the dentist afterward, which I had expected based on past experiences at other dental offices. As I was walked to the checkout counter, the hygienist casually mentioned that I "might need antibiotics" in six months if the issue with my gums didn't resolve -- an issue I am not sure I had walking in to this appointment. I never saw the dentist again during that visit, and no additional guidance or follow-up was provided beyond the flossing and brushing routine recommended weeks earlier. This entire experience left me shaken and disappointed. I have no history of gum issues or needing oral antibiotics, and this visit left me worse off than when I arrived. I haven't felt comfortable speaking up, but I'm sharing this because no one should leave a dental visit with lingering pain or uncertainty about the care they received. I genuinely hope this office takes the opportunity to improve how it communicates services upfront and invests in better training for staff--especially when it comes to patient care, professionalism, and technique.
