Well, it was my 1st visit, and the efficiency of the place was outstanding. Waiting in a doctors office can be stressful for me, but this place has it all figured out. I was moved from check in, to waiting room, to exam room in less than 15 minutes....but when it came to the actual exam I never felt rushed. The two assistants and Dr Styron were very patient, and through in explaining my options and even listened to my concerns regarding insurance (which Im not good at). I already scheduled next years exam in advance, which is something I never do...and I'm not anxious about it at all! Left there actually feeling elated...which is weird because, you know, it's a Dr's office, and went and got myself a breakfast sandwich...which is something else I never do. read more

I made a first-time appointment with Associates in Dermatology. Upon arrival I was told by a front desk clerk, who was rifling through a vertical paper/records holder "oh I had you in 3:45". I am like what does that mean (I was there for a 1 pm appointment). After multiple times of my trying to determine what she meant (i.e., was my time wrong), finally I came to understand that THEY had me scheduled 2 1/2 hours later that day. I said I would just reschedule, I had a puppy at home postop with numerous stitches...sedated) and this clerk said "well we can get you in". I asked when and she replied "as soon as I put your information in, they'll get it in the back and take you back". Ok. so 40 minutes goes by and I go back up to this clerk when she was free and asked how much longer it might be. Suddenly, she was a bit curt and said "I told you we would get to you as soon as we could, but we have other appointments". I was gobsmacked and asked why she said they would take me right back -- at the get-go -- when I had clearly initially offered to reschedule the appointment. She said she spoke to Dr. P who told her he'd get to me, but no guarantee it would be before the time THEY had me scheduled hours later. I expressed my dissatisfaction at the fact she had offered to get me "right back" when I offered to reschedule in the first place, explained again I had a postoperative sedated puppy at home and in no position to wait. She then asked me nearly an hour later if I wanted to reschedule. Due to what I had experienced and observed I replied "no I don't think so, this is not a good representation". I left. I called asking for the office manager, speaking I believe to the original clerk. She kept pressing me and I asked for the office manager. On hold for nearly 5 minutes, I am then disconnected. I get a back almost immediately from a woman named "Kathy" claiming to be the OM. She is apologetic and sympathetic and states that Dr. P is a wonderful doctor (no reason to think he is not...I never saw him). She then tells me she will have the office call me back in a few days (I needed to decide if I should cut and run or chance this again) to schedule me. I never received a call back. I wait three days and call again...again asking for OM Kathy and I am told there is no OM Kathy. I ask for the OM's ("Jasmine's) VM, and I leave a detailed voice mail message. Two days later now at the time of this post and no call back from anyone of any name or title. Then I asked myself "hey, why are you even thinking about going back to this group when the front desk and perhaps nonclinical management is...well...not to your liking". And my efforts then end (except I will be figuring out who I can speak to...to assure me and make sure all the personal information (and there was tons gathered when pre-registering) they now possess of mine is destroyed...shredded...wiped. read more

Who: Mary Pat Gallagher Where: Westlake office Ms. Gallagher is a poor representative for this office. She is only interested in selling product. She has no care or concern for the patient. Although she loves to address her many skills and degrees, she is poor at her job. She has no idea what she is doing and should not be allowed to continue in this office. I emailed the office my concerns three weeks ago requesting a response. I never heard back from the office. According to the office: They Listen to their patient's Cares and Concerns. What a bogus statement. Ms. Gallagher has no care whatsoever for her patients. Anyone can get a degree. You need ears, eyes and most importantly, hand skills. Ms. Gallagher lacks all three. She feels she is gifted. I feel she is giftless. She needs to return to school to learn how to achieve optimum outcomes for patients. Don't just try to sell more. Do More! Care for your patients! Potential patients do read reviews to help make informed decisions regarding healthcare and providers. I hope this review helps someone else realize they should go elsewhere for service. It's disappointing Associates in Dermatology in Westlake is completely ignorant to the feelings of their patients. This place will nickel and dime you, they bill you for anything possible. Had a fine doctor's visit in person, then got the bill which I called them about because it had items listed that I questioned and they were impossible to deal with. If you ever need to speak to anyone about your bill they let you know you are second priority to them making money. I won't go back. They don't seem to have morals. read more

So, this review isn't about how I visited Associates in Dermatology for some Botox, although I wish it were. Wrinkles and aging, sigh. One day. This visit was prompted by the fact that I read an article the other day about a young girl (26-years-old to be exact) that had died of melanoma. The cancer had gone undiagnosed since she was a teen. Number one, I was freaked that cancer could be around that long undetected, and two, I was freaked because like the girl in the story, I had spent many hours during high school and throughout college in tanning booths trying to get that bronze goddess glow . After reading that article, I started googling for Dermatologists in Westlake. I went through the website and read the doctor bios and decided it was close to home and everyone looked friendly and unintimidating. I called the office to make an appointment for a "mole check" and was asked if I had a specific doctor in mind. I requested a female doctor and was offered dates/times for each. Each of the doctors have certain days in each location (Westlake, Lorain, and Middleburg Heights). Even though I called on a Friday afternoon, I was offered an appointment the very next week - super quick. Since I was going to be out of town, I made an appointment with Dr. Styron for two weeks out instead. I was told to bring my insurance card as well as a photo ID. In the days leading up to my appointment, I was nervous. Having only been to a dermatologist one other time in my life (& not for a mole check), I wasn't sure what to expect. I was also freaked at the possibility that years of tanning had left me with a deadly disease, that I didn't even know I had. I googled "what to expect" to assuage my fears, get a general idea of how the appointment would go, and what to expect if some abnormalities were found. I was still nervous but felt better. Fast forward to my appointment today. I arrived a bit early (my appointment was at 9:10am, I got there at 8:45ish) to give them a copy of my insurance card, sign the privacy forms, and fill out the health history questionnaire. For the Westlake location - park in the back! The entrance to the doctor's office is immediately to the left as you enter the building's rear doors, you cannot miss it. Once inside, there were a few people in the waiting room - which was pretty large and complete with televisions for the patients as they wait. I was disappointed because I was not immediately greeted, or greeted even withing a few minutes - I kinda just stood there waiting for the three people behind the desk to finally finish with the individual at the counter. I don't know if it's years of ingrained customer service in me, but even a "hi, we'll be right with you" would make everything better. If it wasn't bad enough it seemed as if they were all purposely avoiding eye contact with me. I guess I know how that is though. Once they did greet me, I was given some forms to sign (basically that say yes they gave me the privacy documents and yes I understand I'm financially liable for this visit) and then I filled out the medical history form. Within less than ten minutes, I was called back to the exam room. On my trip back to the exam room, I passed what seemed to be a nurses station and then two additional waiting rooms, almost completely filled with people. I wasn't exactly sure what these folks were waiting for, perhaps it was the other doctors. Once in the room the nurse asked if I had specific moles I wanted looked at and where they were. She wrote that down, asked about the vitamins/supplements I was taking and then handed me a gown, told me to undress (leaving underwear on), and that the doctor would be in for a full body mole check shortly. Once changed, I felt a little awkward, I mean - who actually LIKES those gowns that open in the back?! So, I just sat on the examination chair to wait. Within a couple minutes, there was a knock at the door (love that they knock to make sure you're decent!) and Dr. Styron came in to introduce herself. I completely felt at ease with both Dr. Styron and the nurse who originally spoke with me. Dr. Styron was very pleasant, unintimidating, and answered all of my questions (even though I had a ton). The exam itself is short and not as awkward as someone might think. Modesty kind of gets thrown out the window at the doctor's office - but this wasn't bad, just moving from one body part to the next. If you need moles removed, its quick and virtually painless. In most cases the area is numbed and moles are sliced off with a scalpel, which just sounds scarier than it really is. Results are given to patients within 10 to 14 business days, good or bad. Fingers crossed for no skin cancers! Thanks very much, Associates in Dermatology and Dr. Styron for being fabulous! And do note, on their Yelp profile it says, "all of the physicians are trained in cosmetic dermatology " - I'll be back for some Botox... in a couple years! read more

I went in for a small face cyst removal. The assistant broke the needle in my face and sprayed lidocaine in my eyes. To make matters worse, Dr. Styron left a deep scar on my face which looks like a crater! I've had another face cyst removed before with virtually no scarring. She was not even in the room for my followup; I saw a nurse assistant who was not very helpful. No true service, I felt rushed out of the office. I had to go to another dermatologist. This was by far the worse experience that I have ever had. It sharply contrasts the excellent service and treatment I receive everywhere else. I truly hope that this instance was an extremely rare exception because that is just simply not the way to conduct business. I am horribly dissatisfied. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Associates in Dermatology (visited the Middleburg Heights location) on 08/25/17. I initially had an appointment scheduled at Westshore Dermatology and they could not get me in for 4 months even though I told them I had a mole that was rapidly changing and was concerned about it. Not willing to put my health at risk I contacted Associates in Dermatology on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM and they were able to get me in the next day, Friday at 8:30 AM. I saw Nicole Bort, NP-C and she was absolutely AMAZING. She took the time to address all my concerns and answered all questions. I pointed out a mole I was concerned about and she didn't like the appearance of it and removed it right away and sent it out for biopsy. It was so nice to go somewhere where you feel like your health is important. They will now be my go to for Dermatology concerns unlike Westshore who doesn't seem to care how long you have to wait for an appointment. read more

Go elsewhere. These guys will smile at you as you leave knowing that they'll be sending you a bill months later for totally unneccesary and overpriced lab work. I went there to have a tiny, harmless mole removed for aesthetic purposes and they tried to come at me months later for $150 in lab work to tell me it was a tiny harmless mole. No sh*t? How about giving the customer a head's up you plan to pick their pocket? Would've turned right around if I'd known they were going to screw me. read more

I chose this place because it was close to home and in my network and I felt with multiple doctors i would be able to get an appointment when I needed it. After a few visits I am looking for another doctor. The staff is very friendly but this facility is all about the business and getting you in and out and rescheduled for another appointment. If you have multiple problems you can not get them covered under one visit even if you request a longer time when booking your appointment. When you call for an appointment you speak with a scheduler who will tell you that they are not permitted to schedule longer than 15 minute appointments. You must state the reason for your visit and when you get there and attempt to bring up another problem the doctor will tell you firmly to reschedule another appointment. The hours are not convenient as there are no late night appointments for folks who work. My job is not that keen about me leaving early so that I may see a dermatologist prior to 4:30. read more

The staff are very rude. They are rude on the phone and they are rude when you get there. They make me feel like I am inconveniencing them each time I speak with them. I have been seeing Dr. Styron and Dr. Reep for the last five years and they have been very helpful and very friendly. Over the years they have been able to help me completely get rid of my acne and put me on a regimen to keep it that way. That being said, I have not had a breakout in about two years which I attribute to the face cream I have been on. The only problem though is once it runs out I begin to break out again. I was able to get it filled over the phone a few months back but I have run out again. I made an appointment for 8 am and informed my employer I would be an hour late. I work many hours and it is often hard to get away during business hours for a doctor appointment. I travel from Akron daily and hit some unexpected traffic leaving me 15 minutes late to the appointment. When I got there they informed me that Dr. Styron would not see me and I had to reschedule. Meanwhile, I have begun breaking out. I was an hour late to work and with no refill on my prescription. I think this is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS considering every other time I have gone, I have been left waiting in the waiting room for at least 20 minutes beyond my appointment time. They couldn't reschedule me in again at a time that worked for me for weeks and I cannot wait that long, my face will be a mess by then. I will be finding a new Dermatologist. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Reep for over a year now. He prescribes something, and then I follow up in about 8-12 weeks to see how it is working. When I don't see results, instead of changing the medication, he doesn't do anything. He doesn't seem to care if a patient is uncomfortable with the treatment he prescribed. I told him I was getting hives and itching from one of the topical medications he prescribed to me, and he told me to "push through it". WTH? Seriously? What doctor does that? I would think a doctor would stop the treatment immediately if a patient is having an adverse reaction. In addition, they leave the doors open in the exam rooms while you are in with a nurse or doctor- so anyone can hear what you are talking about! I think the medication the doctors at this practice prescribe is not necessarily the best medication for the patient, instead, it is the medication that they receive the most benefits from prescribing (the medications that are pushed most by drug reps). Most of the staff isn't very friendly and I have stood at the reception desk everytime I have been there listen to the employees gossip and run their mouths before they help the people in line. My advice would be to find another dermatologist. read more

I had a very bad experience with the laser hair removal technician. I felt I was talked to with an attitude, so I told her I feel you have an attitude. She said no YOU (meaning me the customer!!!!) have an attitude and then she asked to just finish the session!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know what kind of customer service is this. Then I called a manager to complain. She said the technician is usually very nice and all her customers like her and that she wanted to hear her side of the story!!!! I mean when someone is frustrated and annoyed by an employee, I just dont think its right for the manager to stick with the employee and insist on how good they are. I feel my feeling of being mistreated was not addressed. Very dissatisfied with the disrespectful service and the inability for management to address my issue in a non-provoking manner! read more

Don't Go! I have been there and my daughter has been there twice. We see 2 different docs. I have had a good experience, but will not return unfortunately. My 18 yr old daughter did not fare as well. She went in to have plantar warts removed. The female doctor used the freezing technique, which is quite painful (however, my other 2 daughters had the same procedure done by their pediatrician and also by a different dermatologist, and it was absolutely NOTHING like this!). My daughter left the office dizzy, and proceeded to black out in the elevator. She then called me from her car, understandably upset. I called the office but was sent to a voicemail, so I instead went to their website and filled out a Contact Us form and briefly said what happened, and asked them to call her. Then I called the office again myself. I was not pleasant, and asked what their protocol is with a situation like that. I was told they wouldn't have let her leave if they had known. Ok. Apparently you not pay attention to her white face and see her run into the table on the way out. I asked for them to make a note in her file that this happened to her. That apparently she is more sensitive to this type of thing?. The next 2 days, she could not walk on her foot at all and was in tears from the pain. No one ever called her, as I requested, either. Two weeks later she went back for a 2nd treatment because the doc told her that if she didn't, the warts would come back. She told the doc she had to work that day, and asked for a different type of treatment that would not hurt as much as before. The doc had no knowledge of what happened after the previous appointment, and appeared shocked that she had blacked out. Was there a note in her file? I suspect not. So the doc put some type of acid on the warts (and also on good areas of the bottom of her foot), and put some type of bandage type material that had solution on it. She told her she would still feel pain, but it would not begin for a few hours. So that evening, and the next 2 days (Sat and Sunday), she could not walk at all on that foot, and was in so much pain she never left her bed until Monday (she was scheduled to work Sunday and could not go, leaving her employers without anyone at all to do her job that day, not to mention she was out the money). The whole bottom of her foot was blistered and areas were black and purple. I told her to call the office and leave a message with their answering service for someone to call her back and give her some type of relief or information or tips to help her.... anything. The answering service told her she would hear from someone within a half hour or so. She NEVER received a phone call!! Today is now Wednesday, 3 days later, and she still has not heard anything from them. No one has bothered to call her back or check on her, or anything. You cannot even imagine how angry I am at this point. I will tell everyone I know not to go there. It may be convenient, and the office is pleasant, but it truly is not worth what you deal with afterward. Unfortunately, I will not be seeing the dermatologist that I like there either. When I called after her first appointment, the girl who answered the phone, and the nurse she connected me with, did not do well at the customer service aspect of the situation. I was a very upset parent, and they never bothered to give her a call, or even let her doctor know what happened to her. With three teenagers, I have had my share of doctor experiences - many of them. I have NEVER experienced anything like this. The disregard they have for their patients is very apparent. After the first experience, I sat down to write this review, but did not post it, as I figured it was a "fluke". But I specifically asked for the information to be put into her file about her blacking out, and you would think that someone would have told her doctor what happened to her. Unbelievable! I am Still waiting on that phone call from Sunday..... Update.... 5/12/16 It's been a few months now. Her warts never went away and we have not received a phone call from anyone in this group. Can't begin to say how disappointed I am in this place! My daughter went through horrible pain twice, and there is seriously NO result. Do Not Go here!!! Cleveland Clinic in Avon has dermatologists - much better!!!! Apparently, these people don't even care enough to contact me or my daughter about what that "doctor" did to her. I have been a patient at Associates in Dermotology for many years. I am fair skined and have had many small skin cancers removed or treated. I feel they are the BEST anywhere in our area. Thier service is not fun or is it cheap but it is with kind personal service and the BEST treatment you can find. I highly recomend them. read more

I saw Dr. Brandie Stryon for an atrophy on my face. Initially she did not come within 5 feet of me and did not use any overhead lightening. She immediately said she did not see anything other than a crease from aging. I clearly pointed out the atrophy and she basically told me I was crazy and that if I did have the depression in my skin it could have been caused by sucking on an ice cube or popsicle......I do not suck on either of them. Seems like a pretty pathetic answer. She all but told me I was crazy and should see someone else. After running almost an hour behind schedule she spent no more than five minutes with me and quickly dismissed me offering no sound medical advice. I would never recommend her to anyone. read more
