I went to Phoenix for Trauma Recovery, only lasted 1 day. During my initial assessment Lindsi said…read morethey separate their groups into males and females. I was excited to hear it; that was going to be my first question because it's important to me. Studies show women participate more and heal more deeply, in women only groups. Lindsi and I talked about how important that is. She made several statements that she "gets it". I started a week later, to discover about half my group is men. When asked about it, Lindsi, who had been previously super responsive, didn't respond at all. It took 3 texts, and needing to talk before group, that got her to responded; saying 'sorry for the confusion, call the front desk and they'll explain'. The front desk explained their groups have never been separated by sex. It's clear, Lindsi lied. That was also my last day at Phoenix; neither Lindsi nor anyone else, attempted to make contact with me. I know a lot of IOPs lie to get people enrolled. They expect us to quietly deal, to put up with it; especially the trauma victims. We tend to not advocate for ourselves and they take advantage of that. There should be severe repercussions for such behavior. I was an admitted patient, they have an ethical responsibility to at least refer me to another program. Since they made zero contact, they failed at this as well. I saw a few things during my one day that weren't very "trauma informed". Like forcing a woman to move her chair back from a place she felt more comfortable (she was just 2' back). A male patient that was hyper-focused (stalker style) on talking to a female patient who was obviously trying to walk away. And, they lied about not being able to email me forms, yet I signed a document that said I agree, those same forms are just as valid if transmitted by email. Another oddball thing, during my assessment, Lindsi noticed a similarly in the name of my street and hers. She then told me the name of the street she lives on, the city, her mother's street name, that her mother lives in the same neighborhood, and the name of her elementary school. What!?! That's not a good idea, we're strangers. We need to hold places like Phoenix to account, or they'll re-traumatize their own patients. I plan to file a complaint with the Utah Dept. of Health and Human Services, and encourage anyone else with complaints to do the same. This facility is the top drawer of the bureau!!! And, most importantly, the therapy worked!!! The staff of all disciplines were, to a person, extremely capable, helpful, thorough and kind. There is a terrific "depth of bench" at Encompass Health, which creates a problem in remembering, or even knowing the names of all those who served you. Also, so many of them were multitaskers who served you in multiple ways. Some whom my faulty notes and memory brings to mind, so I particularly commend for outstanding service to me--Nurse Mattie and OT Nicole, who in addition to their regular duties condescended to gave me my first shower; aide José, who patiently fixed my Kindle, iPad and iPhone several times; Holly S. (PTA) and Beulah gave great counsel on medication; PT Angie has my deepest thanks; long-timer Cheryl was not only helpful, but particularly cheerful; Quinn's boxing exercises were also beneficial to my injured shoulder. The last night Shayla cared for me wonderfully. Comfort and convenience ruled the day to the end. Dr. Davidson, to whom I was assigned, was particularly attentive and insightful, but I was also surprised to meet several other doctors, such as Dr. Katula who stopped in throughout, or at the end of the week to check on me. I could go on, but my memory fails me. There are an abundance of great people here. The kitchen staff should also be commended for consistently good food delivered on time, putting a lie to expressions that hospital food is bad. My very sincere thanks to all Encompass personnel and management. Gary Quinney

I caused a lot of suffering to those I love and care about. I lost all faith in myself and experienced profound suffering for many years. Many of the people who care about me lost all hope in me. I too lost hope. Perhaps it could work for others, but not me. I didn't deserve anything good. I felt too far gone for any possibility of help. When I came to Renaissance Ranch I was terrified. When I walked in the front doors I was greeted with lots of hugs and so much love. I found people I could relate to, incredibly they felt the same way I felt. And they were willing to walk through the pain with me. The staff tutored me, taught me and responded to my struggles with love and compassion. They provided suggestions on how to progress, how to let go. I learned tools to challenge and slowly heal the negative core beliefs I have about myself. As a result of that continual healing process, I feel so much different internally. A radical shift in perspective about myself and others. It has changed the way I experience life. Shame no longer rules. Hope, faith, joy, love and gratitude are all a big part of my daily experience now. As well as spiritual experiences. I no longer feel alone. The Ranch has a Brotherhood that has met on a weekly basis for almost two decades. If you come to the Ranch, you are a brother. Brothers come who are brand new all the way to many years clean and sober. It's a connection as powerful as any I've experienced. It's fulfilling, funny and vulnerable. It's a place of healing. Renaissance means rebirth. That is what the Ranch has given me, a life beyond anything I imagined possible. And it keeps getting better. If you or a loved one is in need of help and wants to stop using or drinking AND feel differently inside, I hope you will decide to join us soon and come to Renaissance Ranch.

I cant speak more highly of the staff, the attention and care given to my daughter exceeded my expectations and hers at Annies House. I traveled…read moreto the center from out of state, on the recommendation of an acquaintance, seeking help with severe depression and anxiety. At first, the treatment felt great. I was happier than I had been in a long time. I loved the light bed and the energy work. The staff was nice. But the problems didn't become clear to me until years after I had completed treatment and returned home. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the theta chamber. I know it is well-intended. And it does its job, but it does it out of the context of the whole human experience. It encourages "normal" levels of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. This sounds like a good thing, but those neurotransmitters help you interpret your life experiences--what behaviors should be rewarded and which ones should be avoided. In my case, the theta chamber treatment threw me so far out of balance I wasn't aware of it until years later. Things may have changed in the last 5 years since I received treatment. However, I would recommend caution when choosing any method that would treat one part of you in isolation of others. And by "others," I mean the habits, relationships, environments, and life experiences that play a part in shaping you to be the person you have become. I'm in a good place and happy with my progress. I found other options that work well for me. And I hope the same for all those who are looking for healing and balance!

What could have been an emotionally overwhelming experience was beautiful and transformative instead. Next, after my scheduled time in the Theta chamber, I was in such an open and "clean-slate" state, that my NLP session with Mike Simpson got to the very core of my core issues. I didn't even realize what my problems were, let alone the source of them. Needless to say, the chance to "get it all out" has changed me dramatically. The awareness of my life-long self conflict has helped me avoid triggers, which has kept me floating along in a state of bliss. I am so grateful to Theta Wellness Center for introducing me to ME!
